because he's probably more in a position than I am to acquire more MTs in the near future. Mine all depends on an account that I'm not entirely sure of yet. But if you would like to email me anyway I will keep your information in case I do. The account I may have is an ortho clinic acct and what I would like to do if I get the account is have maybe 3 MTs share 2 or 3 doctors; that way they can all be familiar with all the doctors but also if anyone didn't want to work any given day the other 2 could take up the slack and cover for the MT who is off. And I don't even know at all that I will get the account or if I do when it will be - but I will keep your info just in case!

HI Dell. You have more MTs than I do
and I can see how that can get to be a problem. I have experienced that before, where an MT will just figure I'll know what it is right away, so why waste HER time looking it up (one actually said that to me - ACK!)
But so far what has worked for me is being downright snobbish about who I have working for me. Fortunately I worked with several really excellent MTs before I became an MTSO, so once I started getting accounts I hand picked the best of the best. I pay them well, but I expect them to be so good that really I don't even need to proof their work; I trust them that much. They will occasionally have a question or ask me to listen to something, but that's pretty rare.
Now when I get to the point that I need more MTs, and I may need to coming up in a month or so as I may be adding a big account, then I am going to run out out of good MTs that I know...so I will be in the same boat.
I think most of the national companies require 98% on quality checks.
One thing you might do is offer an incentive - review their work for a period of time and pay one amount for MTs whose work you don't really have to check, and then a graduated scale from there. Those whose work has to be gone over with a fine toothed comb shouldn't make as much, as you are spending your valuable time proofing their reports. Those who are worth their salt will step up to the plate.

You can get XP through Dell
if you go through Dell Small Business. I just bought a new computer from them and it came with a choice of either XP or Vista, and it didn't cost me any extra to get XP. They only do this through their business division though, not home/home office.
Actually, if you go to the Dell website sm
and click on either desktop or laptop, on the far right side of the screen is an icon asking if you are looking for XP. If you click on that, it takes you to a screen offering XP on the same machines that show Vista, and the price looks comparable. I have not gone any further, as I am not looking yet, but it does look as though XP is offered at a reasonable price through Dell. If anyone else knows any more, please let me know. TIA.

Just bought one from Dell, asked to have XP on it and
they said they still have a few with XP on it. If you can't find one you will just have to buy XP and have Vista removed from the new computer and then install XP.

the first time you call to place an order, you speak with a pleasant, articulate American, but any call after that goes straight to India?
The last time I called Dell, there was such a communication breakdown that I demanded to speak with an American.

had to buy a new Dell as Vista did not work for them either. Most of the companies do not take Vista. It just doesn't work with everything yet.

I originally went through Dell directly but they charged $400 more for the same computer because they were customizing it with Windows XP as now all the computer came standard with Vista. Apparently not so customized..haha.. better deals on Ebay.. I LOVE EBAY..

I do have another job and I'm using that as my primary job and using OTI as my second job working just about 10 hrs a week. One thing I like about OTI is they don't give a flip how much or how little you work, they don't even care what hours you work so long as you do clock in once in a while.
It seems to be a game at this point, so I might as well play or leave.

They added a tiny bit to the benefit package (still not comparable to other nationals), still no weekend or shift differential. AND they raised the minimum line count from 10,000 lines per pay period to 12,000. It will be imposible to achieve 12,000 lines on those horrible VA accounts. The recruiter will tell you that you won't get paid for headers or footers because they automatically populate WRONG!!! You will spend an unbelievable amount of time in the demographic screen.

that you put the right report in the right shell on the right person. That is the only problem when the report does not match the voice and patient. As long as you are careful, you will not have a problem.

but all too many people get carried away and make up all kinds of nonsense. I have worked for a few companies and do know what is out there. I have others to compare this company to. So, that sure isn't the case. Anyway, its a free board, post away...just warning others to watch out and to form their own opinions.

and it was just like you said. I have 11 years experience and had to leave a couple blanks. MT testing is crazy. I don't know why it has to be so difficult. Oh well, moving on to the next company for testing tomorrow.

 I turned in my Keystrokes paperwork today for a RAD account starting Monday. It looks like most of the problems are with acute care accounts with more positives on the RAD accounts. I'm not worried about OT/paid holidays because I have an actual IC job with plenty of work if/when I want it. I'm just hoping that being this RAD account is new, there will be enough work to keep me qualified for medical. I see others who just posted recently are new hires also--good luck to all of us!

I don't think I am years behind -- if congress/president has any sense, they will begin to bring our jobs back to the U.S. The idea of exporting our jobs in exchange for supporting our trade partners BOMBED. Just like the idiots at Wall Street. It was a great plan - but it has ruined our economy. Such glowing reports all the time. Ugg. Please, don't ask someone who stuck with it and went broke, and had to struggle for so long due to overhiring. Of course, they will tell you to go nights and weekends and if you don't it is your fault for not being a team leader. So, go ahead and apply. My job is happily available to you.

Also, what platform do they use? I have worked at some like you were saying, took forever to get the line count and I want to work 8 hours and be done. I'm glad you're here, I find that guys can sometimes tend to be a little less emotional and more objective than girls (please no flames, just MHO!). And specialties...I love path, too, but have only ever been able to do it in-house. I've been doing Onc for many, many years and love it absolutely, but it's not that easy to find at-home. I have a fabulous account now, but I work for the apparently doomed MQ, so now what? RadGuy, was it only money that motivated your stay? Do you think your account will stay with MQ? PathGuy, have you thought about tapping into more vet stuff? Will they pay better or the same?

I took my time and used my reference materials that I have and thought I did pretty well. Guess not. There were a few questions I did not know the answer to so I guessed, but would never do that on a report. It was very disappointing.
I wish I knew what questions I got wrong. Almost like QA'ing the test would have been helpful to learn from that.
I will keep trying because I am still looking for job. Not happy where I am right now.

Well, I think I am still in shock, but the panic has been hitting hard today. I just found out this morning that one of my kids looks like he will be facing surgery on both of his eyes in July! Great timing, huh! I am just worn out! Last week took its toll both physically and emotionally.

I would start looking. I know you reach a comfort level where you are, but TRUST ME, there are reputable companies out there (I work for one) and believe me, you are better off leaving now, before things crash down on you just when you start feeling comfortable again. Good MT's can still find work in this country, and they are paid in dollars, not rupees.
