Here is a compiled list of Indian MT companies

Checkout this list. You've two more such lists on that blog, totaling three.

One thing you need to know with the Indian companies is that the rates are low and you cannot earn as much as you can in the US.

Can anyone share a compiled list of companies

And a second list of companies USA only? This would be a great reference tool for those of us who have made a personal choice to only work for USA firms.  I thought about compiling a list, but am afraid it would not be all-inclusive, and I know that some of you out there are very knowledgeable and have done much research.

Also on the American ones, perhaps if you know they cheat on line counts, pay, give the run around, that would help too.  I could probably help with that but again it would not be all inclusive.

Maybe we can get a few posts together and share notes.  I think that this kind of list of all of our experiences (collectively would be a great reference tool), and perhaps it could be saved here somewhere, maybe earmarked for future reference so people would not have to constantly search through archives.  Why reinvent the wheel over and over again if we could have all this info in 1 place.

I think that if we work all collectively, we can improve our working conditions, because MTSOs on that list will be held accountable at least by the amount of people who read this board and support the ideas which seem to come up often here, namely, keep it in the USA, keep wages fair, treat the remote MT/QA professionally, etc.

When gas prices went through the roof the American public cut back and you see now, gas prices are going down. This should be an example to us that if we all work together throughout the country, changes must be made by those who are cheating the MT.  By us having this information, and keeping it here, then people can have a great list to keep in their back pocket, and finally companies will be held accountable.

I will be willing to put some into the list, but I don't know it all so I need help.  Will wait for feedback first. Thanks in advance for listening to my idea.

Here's a list I've compiled. Please feel free to add to it! nm

Amphion, Charts In Time (CIT), Focus, eTransPlus, some accts. at MedWare, possibly NEMT, Opti-Script (Penn.), OSI, Professional Transcriptions (Pensacola), Rapid, Superior Global, Transcriptions South (Fla.), Transcription Systems (Ill.), TransTech, and TTS. nm

Be careful with this list - Most of these are Indian

I posted a long list, but when moderator moved your post, my post disappeared.

But most of these are Indian.

I don't know how in the world Spheris or Transcend is on that list, along with most of the others.

Just be careful of that list.

Can someone list all the MT companies that exist?
I've tried to find a complete listing of every MT company that exists, but no luck. Can anyone here provide me with that or at least tell me where to get it? Thanks
Can you help with a list of companies that do pay downtime?
n
I have 2 companies on my list to apply to if
MQ sinks and Medware is one of them! Thanks for the info!
List of companies using ExText? sm
Can anyone give me a list of companies that use ExText? Looking for part-time position and IC or employee; specialize in OPs, 10+ yrs experience.  Thanks in advance!
Go to this link for list of companies

where you will find 2 more links regarding companies that hire new grads.
Maybe list the bad companies instead of the good
I don't really blame the person that has the great job for not wanting to post it on the board. I had a great job at one time and they lost their big accounts and I lost the job. Now I got a good job, but the pay isn't much unfortunately, but the work is good and steady.

Maybe people rather wouldn't mind listing the names of companies they worked for and got burned or hated the job for whatever reasons.

If there are any good companies they are few and far between unfortunately. I was making more per line 10 to 20 years ago than now. Our rates have not increased. The only difference is we are on computers now instead of typewriters. I don't think any of these companies care about us as people. We are just money makers for them. That's their bottom line. I'd love to know how much they are getting per line from the hospitals. Probably 16 cents a line and we are getting 8. It really stinks. The only way to make more is to work more and more. And then when you work like 8 hours overtime and see your check it really is disgusting how little it added up to. At least in the days where we were employees at hospitals our overtime pay would be so great that it made it worth it.
Is there a list of companies that DON'T OFFSHORE?

If not, can we list them here?  I'm tired of getting laid off or not having enough work from companies who're sending work to India.

If you know of a company that doesn't offshore, it would also be nice if you could say whether or not they require VR.

Thanks in advance to anyone who participates -- we're all in this together!

Would like to know list of companies that use Webtop please?
Anyone know of companies that use the program, Webtop?  Thanks!
Here is a list of companies that offshore ... FYI

See study overview table from 2008 MTSO study:

Lots of Indian companies ...
have U.S. addresses. Probably all you need is a P.O. Box.

When I went to www.navesys.com I got an index page rather than an actual website, & one of the links was transindiatranscribers.

What is sad is that you'll get a longer list of companies
People with skill and experience are too costly to most large MTSOs.  Quantity is more important than quality because, after all, it's cheaper to hire a couple skilled professionals to clean up the mess of the larger group of unexperienced/unskilled MTs that they can hire for a lot less.
List of companies that use Dictaphone platform??
I like working on the Dictaphone platform and would like to find a company that uses this platform.. preferably with low ESL.  Tried a company that had Dictaphone but the ESL was so bad I could not get a good line count.
And a lot of the lists are made up of companies that pay to be on the list. sm
I think your best bet is to either go with someone who is well known or go with a small company if you know someone who works there.
OP asked for a list of companies that DO offshore (sm)
Inside the post she asked to start a second list of companies who keep work here in the USA.  I understood the post, and was merely listing Keystrokes as someone who does NOT offshore to go on the second list of companies that keeps work here.  KS does NOT offshore and they never will.
Please form a list of nonVR companies

It would be great to have all in 1 place companies which do not have VR (and they usually are all USA too).  I can only come up with 2 to start, but please add to the list.  This would certainly help out those who do not wish to take the leap at this time into that kind of technology.  Thanks for adding to the list.

1.  Keystrokes.  Very little VR, lots of straight typing.  No overseas.

2.  SoftScript.  I think all straight typing.  I do believe no overseas.

Please add to the list. It would be a helpful tool for many of us. Sorry I can't think of more, but then again, that is why I am creating this post. Thanks again.

Correction to list below of Companies that do not off shore
Optiscript in State College,Pa DOES off shore. I was offered a job with them until I heard from a very reliable source that they even have offices out of the country. Stay away!
Still good companies in my opinion...was not on the list. Check them out for yourself OP

Partial list of companies providing a computer...sm

Diskriter, Precyse, Opti-Script (Penn.), CIT (Charts in Time), WebMedX, Spheris, and Amphion.  Transcend used to. Maybe someone can say whether Transtech or MQ still do. I do not know if you have to be FT in order to get computer provided with any of these companies. Opti-Script in Penn. WILL provide one for part-timers. Good luck!

I just emailed Mr. Dobbs with a partial list of MT companies
that outsource that weren't on his list.  Thanks for the link!
good list of companies for straight typers
1. Keystrokes
2. SoftScript
3. Digital Transcription Systems, Inc. (DTS--Oklahoma)
4. TRS, LLC (N.Carolina)
5. Silent Type, Inc.
6. TransPro Medical Transcription, Inc.
7. New England Medical Transcription, Inc. (NEMT)
8. Southern Transcription Services,Inc (Georgia)
They're not listed on MTD's Companies list. Maybe do a Yahoo search? nm
s
I have an idea..we should all start a list of MT companies that are no payers, bad payers, and late
but it is even worse when no one knows their record until they find out the hard way as they sit around waiting to get paid. I think it's rude to bounce checks, pay people late or not at all. We're not all working for free because we wanted to donate our time. We need to work to survive and those companies just prey on people. If they are getting paid, yet they can't pay their MTs, I'd say that someone doesn't know how to manage money. I just find it sad.
Focus is Indian run and you'll be editing Indian
work, so seriously doubt you'll make a bunch of $$ on editing.  99% of the MTs love KS.  If you'll just scroll down the page you'll see dozens of posts about them.
How do you know list is true? I can make a list,
x
Probably not - I believe they are Indian run or Indian based company. nm
x
Go to their Indian website or other Indian websites

add me to the list
mwilmotjr@yahoo.com
Like the ones that want you to add them to an IM list so they can
see if you are online and keep track of you every minute of the day?  Best cure for that is to keep your internet program on 24/7 and never answer one of their IMs
Don't want to list it here
it ain't much!  Compound that with no work.  'outta there.
A wish list???
What kind of list? It's a cry for help to sift through some of the many transcription companies I have seen mentioned on-line. Most of the lists I have seen are either just all lumped together with essentially no information, or sometimes listed by states.

I was asking for the the names of the biggest companies as a sort of initial filter. However, as I stated, I AM wondering about the safety of going with a big company. I have been working for a medium size, local company with one huge account. They lost it and due to that and other factors, they have just decided to go out of business. I realize bigger isn't necessarily better.

Another issue for me is that I like to travel and think it would be nice to sometimes be able to pack a small amount of equipment, maybe just a laptop and foot pedal, and be able to work.

I know there are going to be conflicting opinions, but for me right now even that might be helpful. The company I was working for had good and bad points and I loved and hated it sometimes within the same day.

Great strengths it had that I would like to find again: At least competitive pay, benefits, and most of all - lots of flexibility. I basically only had to make a quota every two weeks and not even that was VERY strictly enforced. Other than that, I had almost total flexibility. I would certainly pass on making only a few more dollars in order to retain my flexibility.

So, it's a list of biggest companies, a list of suggested companies, and in a perfect world it would be a list of companies that meet all of my needs. For now, I'd just settle for any good suggestions.
Yes, I list everything.
.
list
That's really sad, because they are trying to stop from earning a living, thus driving more people into poverty......
My name better NOT be on such a list...
If I find this to be the case, my attorney will most certainly be contacted.
Here's a list for you
1. Better start-up information and training. The majority of companies I have worked with don't seem to understand how little training they actually provide. A few notes taken over the phone in a training session is not training! Think about all the jobs you have had on site - and compared that type of training to what you typically receive via cyberspace. Not even close right? If anything, training people remotely should equate to *more* training, not less. And, of course, I'm not referring to MT training, but account/platform specific training. Supply samples, hints, a list of problems encountered in the past and their solutions. You can't just fly through the steps of a complicated platform once and expect top notch production.

2. Feedback and updated account info. It's really disheartening to never hear from an account *until* you make a mistake. Positive feedback is as important as negative feedback.

3. Communication. Cannot be over-emphasized. I have worked with MTSO's who IM you to death (overkill) to those who apparently think new procedures are related via osmosis...

4. One of the biggest mistakes MTSO's make is getting more accounts then they can properly manage (and/or doing so with a skeleton crew to maximize profits).

HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!

To the list
Don't forget about over-hiring! That annoys me so much!
My list
1. Pay me on time.
2. Pay me correctly.
3. Give me clear account specs.
4. Treat me with respect and don't talk down to me.
5. Give me feedback when I'm doing something wrong AND when I'm doing something right.
I would add these to your list...sm

Webmedx, Medscribe, Diskriter, Transcend, Transolutions.  Not sure about your other questions though.

Good Luck!

add me to the list
I think we were on the same account and quit at the same time (in May of this year). Two days after I quit, I received an email that P was leaving the company. I too had heard that she lost a total of 4 employees that week. What a shame. The folks that sold Cymed should be ashamed - they had a good thing going and it just went down the tubes. I struggled to make my line count for months and finally had to give up and look elsewhere. Looking back, I should have left as soon as SPi took over. You would think that I would learn by now!
Add me to the list
I have 4-1/2 years there. Some of it has been a challenge but with our new president and some changes he's making, we're back on track. I make pretty good money on my account, and management has been particularly wonderful to me. Love it!
job list
Look in the manual under Logs. I'm having a meltdown over counting and converting for line counts. The account I'm on does not have a built in line counter. Hope yours does. My friend works on a different account and she doesn't have to do anything. Good luck!
Just a list
I think they have just listed hospitals within those states and they are not hospitals they have contracts with. I know for a fact that several Maryland hospitals as well as Wisconsin hospitals do not oursouce to them. It does lead one to believe, though, that they have contracts with them.
here's my list
Acusis: Best company ever. The people are very nice, pay always on time, work is great....a little low in the mornings right now, but always able to make my keystroke requirements.

Proscript: Another great company, with very nice people, good accounts, and pay is always on time.

InHealth: Another good company. Work was good, people nice, pay always on time.

Keystrokes: Not a good match for me. Was lied to about my pay, but I have a friend who works there that loves it. The account I was on was a good account, just didn't really care for the owner.

Preferred Transcriptions: The account I was on was great, but other accounts not so great. Pay is low, and the gal who runs the company could use some classes on how to be a littler nicer.
Right at the top of the list would be AMM...sm
Another Medical Must...horribly disorganized owner who uses primarily MTs from India and the Phillipines and wonders why she loses her accounts. Tells every MT a different story about what's going on with the company. Put this one on your don't even bother list.
Here's another for your list...
DataScript in Michigan - no pay and don't answer emails.
the list I got said 199 to 238 I think for sm
single coverage. I think there is a supplement for eye and dental which would make it more. Family coverage is more like the price you quoted.
still on list
Too bad you weren't still on the paycheck list.  Would that be nice if they sent you that every two weeks just because you were still on the list?
And MQ is not on that list.

MedQuist cares so little about quality it isn't funny.

QA has now turned into MME (Master Medical Editor).  Most of the work is being diverted to India now.  The MME does QA work, editing and transcribing.  More of the last two in what I have seen myself.

I have a feeling that India is doing most of the QA work now because it has cut back so drastically, at least for me.  It is going somewhere, but I know it hasn't been coming to me.  My guess would be India because they got all of the good clients now anyway.

I would stay far away from MQ.  I honestly would.

Add to that list
ProScript. Great QA, always helpful and always friendly.
