Have you talked to Dorothy? I mentioned last week sm

to her that I was having to scrounge all day to get my lines, and she was very helpful -- moving other people off the account and offering to give me a 3rd account. I think if you let her know that you do not have enough work, she'll do what she can to help you. At least, that has been my experience.
And I agree with the other poster ... typically, holiday times are slower everywhere. Most people do not come in for elective procedures and such over the holidays.
Good luck -- hope you find a solution that works. :-)

When I talked to them last week, they had one position left -- sm
third shift, Tuesday through Saturday, 80% ESLs. They have some great benefits, it seems, and I have only heard great things about them, but I like 2nd shift, not third, and I'm more comfortable with Sun-Thurs, but that is just me.
Good luck!

I agree that Dorothy will do whatever she can to
help, but if there is not enough work to go around, then there is nothing she can do about that unless she gets rid of some people. If she switched people off of YOUR account so you could have as much work as you want, obviously those people were switched to another account, so the people on THAT account are going to have less work. Sounds like most of the accounts are running dry right now. There is only so much work and if you have too many people working it just makes sense there will not be enough to go around.
Is the owner's name Dorothy? (And her
That company's probably that new one based in Emerald City, Kansas.
Larry? Sue? Liz? Dorothy? Is that you? nm

Millionaire Dorothy In
To the MT who was *talking* w/ me a few weeks ago re MDI-MD who said Dorothy would be thrilled ...SM
to hear from me.....well, I finally decided to email them about a position. It's sure been long enough, hasn't it? lol I appreciate your encouragement and your help. We'll just have to wait and see if they have a part-time slot for me. I wasn't sure if I ever expressed my appreciation to you then, and I sure hope you see this now and recognize yourself in my subject line. Thanks again!!
Email Dorothy (owner) direct and ask
State the problem, how long do I hang on etc/ Get some definitive response. .
For the most part, I agree. Dorothy and I have butted heads a few times, sm
but I do believe that she truly cares about the welfare of her MTs, and is not some evil monster sitting on her throne, deliberately overhiring so she can make lots of people suffer. As you pointed out, it is not even good business sense.
I am not on the inside track, so I really do not know what the plan is as far as continuing to hire new MTs when many are complaining there is no work, but I have to believe there is some kind of plan. I have been fortunate. I was running out of work, and they gave me another account, so I can make my quota. Plus, I just decided I would be stubborn and sit and take the reports whenever I can get them, all day long if I have to do it that way.
I suppose in my dream world, there would always be plenty of work, anytime I want it, with only the best of the docs dictating. But, barring that, I still think MDI-MD is one of the best companies out there to work for, and I wouldn't consider leaving right now.
Speaking of work, I had foot pedal issues last night, so I am behind and should get busy.
Happy New Year, one last time.
Full time with Transtech is both. 40 hours per week and 5500 lines per week.
x
Nope .. email on 1/18 promised "within the next week." Here we are, 1 week later and no info.
x
The minimum is 5500 per week, NOT 6600 per week. I think you made a typo. :)
NM
i clear over 800 a week, 40/week; 30+ year experience. (nm)

Well I am one of the ones who has talked with them....SM
The pay they quoted me was fairly good though not all that great, but I'm really looking for a smaller company and to get away from the really big companies. I did email with one MT who said she had been with them for 3 months and is now moving from PT to FT because she likes the money she is able to make with them. I took that as a good sign lol. I also looked them up in the archives and could find nothing negative.
I know what you mean about thinking with a maybe this will be the one attitude. I've been really disappointed in my search over the last few months.
I really think what is showing through as excitement in these threads (or just this one lol) is the fact that someone finally heard back from this company. I also think it took a while because it IS small and maybe they are extremely busy. I think the smaller MTSOs and their managers, account leaders, etc., probably all have too much to do everywhere so maybe these particular ladies really have just not had the time to finish up their hiring. JMO you understand.
If you are still looking, maybe you should email them and see if they still have openings. Their ad is on the job board. Just be prepared to possibly wait a couple of a few days for a response lol.
When i talked to them
they were very, very rude!
Only because we do so much rad. I talked to someone who sm
went to a radiology conference this week in Chicago (a radiologist friend) who told me that Keystrokes is everywhere and that whenever he talks to others in radiology, they all mention them. I hope that is good for all of us. I feel secure knowing that. He knows I work for them, so he made sure to tell me that they are very respected in the world of radiology!
I think I talked to them about 18
months ago, and that's what they were offering. Then I asked questions about how efficient things were, and it sounded rather time-consuming to me. They may have improved things by now, of course.
both I talked to
were women. I was actually told the Nuance recruiter wasn't with the company, but her email is still listed with them. This lady had a very thick northern city accent.
It's the big O not the one you mentioned
.
Yes, it was mentioned... SM
and explained. Transition to new MTSO not going smoothly -- acct could come back at some point but DO NOT hold your breath! Bottom Line: Same-old, same-old -- Onward and upward, think positive, etc. No dramatic announcements other than big push to get everyone on same platform. :-))
EMR...should have mentioned
Our EMR system did cut down on some things for us typists. The medications and allergies were already in the patient's chart and therefore pulled through into the document (office visit letter) that the doctor created himself the day of the visit. If there were changes to those meds, he would dictate the changes. If there were no changes, he would state that. That was one less thing for us to type. It didn't change things for us greatly because we got paid hourly, but I'm sure that would cut lines out of someone who gets paid production. It was a very new concept for our office at the time. We had 21 physicians and 7 NP's so I can safely say half hated it and half loved it. Some doctor's refused to go completely paperless and would always ask us to print hard copies of the latest test results and that allowed them to not have their faces glued to a laptop and actually pay attention to the patient. I have not yet experienced the EMR/EHR system as an actual patient. I'm sure I would be really alarmed at not getting to spend time with my doctor and instead only see the top of their head as they are clicking around in my virtual chart. There are definitely pros and cons and I can see both. As for it completely wiping out transcriptionists -- I have my doubts. Dragon software years ago was supposed to have wiped us out as a profession and look what happened to that. I know VR is a huge thing, but that too is still creating jobs. I tend to be more optimistic. The only thing constant in this world is change and we have 2 choices -- embrace that change and roll with the punches or sit and complain about it and make things worse. Nothing is ever certain so I guess we will just have to wait and see. No one can predict the future.
It has been mentioned that some
companies have increased the cpl when the client requires VBC.
What was the name of the person you talked to? nm
x
I talked to them about IC status sm
and I really liked them. You might just call and ask. It would be IC status and you need your own equipment. They download their software.
I talked to her by telephone. sm
After about a 5-minute conversation, I knew I wouldn't be going to work for her. When I asked her about pay dates, she stated that MTs do not get paid until she receives payment from the client because, well, you just never know. She also stated that if she does not feel an MTs work is where she thinks it should be, she will lower their line rate. In my opinion, this person is very unprofessional. I agree with the above post about staying very far away from this business.
When I talked with them about a position, I was going to have to use....
their software and they did send a pedal. However, I decided to go with another company and never even plugged in the pedal that they sent.
Their software is based on MSWord, from what I understand.
HTH
What was the recruiter's name you talked to?
wondering if it is same as the one I talked to. They seemed very nice, but I got a much better offer elsewhere.
OSI - talked to their recruiter sm
and she got snippy with me for just asking a few questions, so I never went further than that with them.
I have talked to the office.
They say they are looking into finding me something.
Susan -- I talked with
recruiter today. It sounds pretty good.
Have you talked to DeVenture?
It is $20 a week for me and another $50 to put my two kids on. The company contributes a flat rate of $280 I believe.
I got hired the same day I talked to them but (sm)
I had to wait about 2 weeks for my keyfob from the hospital.
I talked to a recruiter and she had the
most WONDERFUL position available and that I was luck because the MTs loved this account and there was rarely an opening on it - blah, blah, blah.
She mentioned the account and I had worked on that account when I worked at YOG and I knew it to be a horrendous account.
I talked to the team leader (or whatever her title was) of the account and she told me that they can't keep MTs on the account because it is so difficult and no one wants to work on it. Then she let slip that they offshore and the best dictation goes offshore while the crap stays here.
The recruiter was constantly IM people during my interview, which I felt was unprofessional.
It has been talked about several times, but no one is
willing to do anything so nothing gets done. Personally I have no desire to be in a union and wouldn't join if there was one. By the time you pay union dues you wouldn't be any better off than you are now.
I talked to her yesterday or the day before... nm

Have you talked to your lead? sm
My accounts are busy. They were slow for 2 weeks but picked up, asking for extra help through this week!
I talked to them last year - sm
I am a long-time MT as well and they offered me 7 cents a line - umm, NOT! They gave me some song and dance as to why ER was only paid that as everything else was slightly more. I was shocked to say the least.
Just talked to recruiter
I did accept the job, now I have to get the C-Phone. There are a lot of sites that sell refurbed ones, so I guess I will start checking there.
I start May 18th. Good luck to you!
I get my paycheck every week - that is enough for me! Happy MT week everybody! nm
x
I got laid off for MT Week. Happy MT Week to me!

Good last week - Slow this week.
I hope this is not an indication of things to come. I am getting 1,200 lines a day but it is taking me all day to do it. We seem to be out of work from 9-12 every day this week. Hope things pick up after Labor Day.
The companies you mentioned
Company 1: Good company if you like ESLs. They have lots of accounts in areas that teem with ESLs. For them, I would choose QA.
Company 2: This company has had more conflicts than Carter's liver pills, and the turnover is outrageous. The problem is that they are always out of work. They overhire, then nobody has any work. Lots of big wheels. Public company and making millions but the MLS's as they call them don't get the money. They promote from within. They are going to speech recognition and cutting pay in half. Forget them totally.
Company 3 outsources like crazy and hires people who don't know what they are doing. Just started decent benefits. Moving to speech recognition. They do not stay in "touch" with the real workers who keep them afloat. If you are not an insider you will go nowhere with them. Forget them.
Company 4: I would shoot for a QA or editing job since you have the experience. There is some pettiness but you don't have to be that way and the managers don't expect you to be. Good benefits and stable company.
Even with some of the problems mentioned here,
nm
It was mentioned on this board that they -sm
never pay on time, so I wasn't in the least surprised when they told me about their payment method.
No one has mentioned my company yet
LOL!!! Sad, but true... Don't like my company either.
Several people have mentioned that they have
been hired for the account. I have also been hired for the account.
P.S. You mentioned archives
when you searched. I believe that will give you only older info. Try searching without going into the archives - you'll find some more recent posts, some negative, some positive. Just confirming again, though, that my experience has been very positive.
