I tested and did not pass and tested again 6 months later and passed. I think that more and more s
companies are testing MTs for various reasons.
You say that you work for them and keep posting. Why do you stay if you are so unhappy? I love my account and lead but it seems that you do not like being at KS at all.
Different strokes for different folks. Why continuously post compaints without doing anything about it?
mttest
If you want to email me, I can help you with any questions regarding MTtest.
About mttest.com. I have never used it but
Why isn't there a site like that where MTs can go and take the test and then their score/test/information is there on file for MT companies to look at? Maybe there could be a way to just assign each MT a number or something if privacy would be an issue. But the MT companies could go through and select who they want to offer a job based on what they see on the tests.
I am happy with the company I'm with now but if I could have my test on file and companies could access it and offer me jobs based on what they see on my test, I would always be open to listening to what they have to offer me if they price is right.
I know there is Transcription Matchmaker, but this would have the testing already done. Obviously it wouldn't make sense for MTs to be able to go back and redo the test repeatedly but maybe they could retest once a year and the test could be changed once a year, and that way if someone's skills have improved their test on file reflects that?
Just an idea.
I just took the Mttest for Amphion -sm
I bet I went through an hour of booting and rebooting and starting the longer file over again. I finally went to my laptop and it worked okay then.
Needless to say I haven't heard from them, but in the meantime I got a really good job, so I don't care.
MTTEST WEBSITE???
If it is on the MT test website you can use your F1 Play/Pause, F8 rewind, and F2 fast forwards it. Hope this helps.
Companies testing on mttest ... sm
I tested for 3 companies. All 3 used the mttest testing site. I think CareerStep handles that.
Some of the same questions on the objective portions. Not the same reports on the practical portion but nearly identical.
Results: Passed 2 companies. Failed 1 company.
Asked for my results: None of the 3 will give me actual copies - I understand and respect. However, they all 3 did give me my scores. The failed test was significantly lower, I might add. The failed test was the only exam that asked how much pay I wanted up front.
Virtually the same test ...significant difference in scores.
So, my conclusion, having done exceptionally well with 2 others and then bombed one withsuch a bad result, reported to me at first I passed and then I only passed for a lower role, and then the difference in scores, and they are the ones who asked for pay up front ... it is in how they grade and how much you want to be paid.
Too funny.
TransTech VR - anyone take the mttest speech
Has anyone taken the Speech Recognition Test at mttest.com when you applied with TransTech? There are 11 speech recognition files that you have to correct. I am wondering how accurate those files are compared to the actual VR reports you ended up editing at TransTech. If they are representative of what you actually get to work on, that might be a good way for MTs who have never done VR to get a taste of it before they apply for jobs at companies that have a majority of VR versus straight typing. I started taking them, but had to quit because my laptop battery was running out. Not sure if I want to go back to complete them because I am not sure I want to learn VR either.
Any insight would be appreciated.
I did 2 tests the last couple of days, both through mttest, though
the tests were different. One test took about probably 45 minutes and that didn't include the transcription part. I started the transcription and the dictation was so horrendous - sound quality really bad, barely able to hear any of the dictation, 2 ESL docs, and 1 really fast talking U.S. doc. I do about 90% ESL, but goodness. I have nearly 20 years' experience and I have decided it just isn't worth my time to do the transcription part. I'm trying to get out of a stressful situation currently, and this didn't seem like it was going to be the answer. I know that it was only a small representation, and I feel sorry for anyone without lots of experience trying to take the test.
The second test was so easy and even with transcribing the dictation I think it only took me 45 minutes tops.
I don't know why I continue to test and look for another position, because I'm fairly comfortable with my dictators, my company leaves me alone 99% of the time, good line counting program, etc. and I turn down every position I'm offered because: 1 - no one offers me as much money (even though I'm not making gobs of money); 2 - no one offers me the flexibility that I currently have, although I don't have as much as I used to have; 3 - I've got 5 years invested in this company and I know what to expect; 4 - while QA is pretty stringent I'm 99% or better and go weeks at a time without getting anything back ....... I just need a change of pace, but at the same time I don't like change, I don't want to learn new dictators, don't want to learn a new format, don't want to learn the quirks of QA and all the other stuff that goes along with a new account/new company.
I think the last 6 months I've tested and been offered 8 positions and some companies continue to call me and none has anything better to offer me.
If they use MTTEST by Career Step - Don't bother...
...just like Career Step's program, MTtest is GREATLY flawed. And the potential employers don't bother to review this or your testing. If an employer lazily uses MTTest (and is recruiting people to buy Career Step's scam terrible training program), I don't bother. Even if you get it right, the module is flawed and will likely say you got it wrong. Don't waste your time being insulted by same.
Companies that actually send you dictation to transcribe are the best to test with. They test your true knowledge/ability, not through a flawed and inadequate multiple choice module that's sole purpose is to recruit people to Career Step.
Just my 2 cents... :O)
Yes, MTTest does cut you off if you've made too many errors up to that point.

Is the test through mttest.com a timed test? Thanks. nm
I tested
I tested, passed and so on, but by the time they called me it was 3 weeks later and I had already taken another job. They just seem a little slow to respond.
You must have tested with JLG
I tested with them too.
The test tape was definitely horrible, and actually isn't a fair way to test new MTs for any account. I had 2-3 blanks left in the end. All they told me about my results was that they were below their levels for employment.
I asked to see what mistakes I made and asked what my actual score on the test was, and they never got back to me with any results after I emailed them several times about it.
The test itself consisted of 20 questions and 10 reports to type. Who would think 2-3 blanks out of all of that would result in a no hire. I guess you have to be able to do that tape without any blanks or questions at all in order to pass and get a job with them.
Has anyone here ever tested for or
Just curious. TIA
I tested the other day too. sm
I talked to Amy, the VP, yesterday and she said that she had about 5 or 6 MTs who had submitted tests and she had sent them to her lead MT to be graded. She said that hiring as a priority so it wouldn't be too long before we hear anything.
I tested with them. sm
They offered me a job, 2nd and 3rd shift only, but never told me what they were offering as far as pay. When I asked her, she said that the first 2 weeks were 12.00 an hour and then after that your cpl pay would be based on speed and accuracy. It sounded like a trap to me. I wouldn't go with them if I were you. You could waste all that time training with them and then they could tell you that your speed and accuracy aren't up to par and only pay you 5 cpl.
Tested with them
I have not worked for them, but I tested for them. The test job I did was about 50 65-character lines long and at the per page rate they were offering it came out to 4 cents per line. Don't know if all the jobs would have been that long, but I got the feeling they would all be pretty long. For long reports you're better off getting paid by the line. So you've got to be careful in comparing your current pay to what they're offering.
A C-phone is a phone that you dial into a digital dictation system with. It has a footpedal and you can plug a headset in, and you just transcribe while listening to the dictation right over the phone line. It works real well.
Hope this helps somewhat.
Has anyone who tested with
Just curious...... 11 cpl was sounding pretty good. Oh well....
It has been a while since I tested and they may have
have changed files, but I didn't have any problem hearing them. Typically companies will put some of their worst dictation as tests, especially if they have a high percentage of ESLs. In the past there was a problem with scoring of the tests and it would mark things wrong that weren't, but I think that is fixed now.
I tested for them . . .
I called first, they told me to do 3.
Sorry, should be I tested with them......
NM
I tested with them
approximately 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing back yet.
Have you tested yet?
I was not able to get the transcription portion of the test to cooperate. It was a blank box when I tried to type and I could not control the volume or speed. Is this typical?
Yes I have tested.
I didn't have that problem. I got an e-mail from them this morning with a preliminary interview form to fill out, and then they would schedule an interview.
I tested with them
I tested with them and never heard anything back, I got a 90% on the test, they said you had to have at least an 80%. When I e-mailed about a job, I never heard back from them. Weird and Rude.
I tested with them,
did great on the test, they asked me what my preferred schedule was, I answered, never heard back.
Sigh.
For those of you who tested for this
I am using my GearPlayer 4 and also have Sound Blaster but have had a very difficult time hearing the testreport1.wav file. The dictator is either turning away from the microphone or whatever he is using to dictate into or is a mumbler...sometimes he comes through loud and clear. I am having to leave too many blanks to do very well on this one. Would like to hear if it is just my old ears, or if everyone else is having a problem hearing this one too. Thanks.
I tested for them
If this is the Sten-Tel from Springfield, Massachusetts, then that is the company I tested for.
They tout how they will send you a detailed analysis of your test--just like you would receive from their QA service. However, I never received anything from them in that regard.
I did get an offer, however. But I did not even consider them because they never sent what they promised. I figured that if they were that sloppy with their testing procedures and broke that promise that they'd be even worse with their employment procedures. It could only get worse.
I tested with Axolotol - sm
At the time I tested I had 16 years experience .... INTENSIVE experience, and I am not tooting my own horn but I rarely make mistakes and I will research a blank to death before I finally give up on it ...and guess what - they told me I didn't have enough experience.
I tested/interviewed with them once, or tried to -
we scheduled a phone conference to discuss the opening they had no less than five times and kept having to reschedule it at the last minute - very irritating.
I tested and aced it, but it still took them
several days to call me. I did not attempt to call them though.
Has anyone tested with VoiceTranscription and sm
never heard back from them? She does not respond to emails. The test was a very, very easy dictation. TIA
Maybe I just got lucky, but has anyone else tested lately?
When I tested for the company I've been with for nearly 2 years, the transcribing section was absolutely horrid. To this day I still don't have a clue how I passed their testing. Four reports of the worst possible dictation I have ever heard in my career.
Then I test for a few places this week (just in case things don't turn around at my company) and I had 2 reports that were an absolute breeze. One was very, very long, but both were as good as you can possibly get.
I'm just wondering. Is this now part of the recruiting process to make it look as if their accounts were that easy, or did I just get plain lucky?
Anybody who didn't know any better would know that this is definitely not the norm.
Just a thought.
Would also like info as I tested before....sm
sent it back to the e-mail they requested, and never heard another word from them, no web address, no contact info....thought this was pretty strange, but now that I see they are hiring again, I think it's time to put the word out on this company so anyone with any info, please post! TIA
I tested with them and passed.
I got an e-mail from Cymed congratulating me and they would be in contact but I never heard from them since. That was about a month ago. My advice is if you plan on working for them you keep in touch with them.
I tested with them last week
I took the test a week ago with them. You can either test for Orthopedics or acute care. You have to log into their FTP to get the test files. They also send a word attachment with a fill in the blanks test. I sent my test back to them 7 days ago, and I have not heard a word back. I tried emailing them asking what was going on, and asked if they got my test, but still no response.
I tested for Execuscribe. Does anyone
know how long it takes to get results back?
And what's the difference in a 65-character line and a gross line???
I went ahead and tested.
Thank you for the info
tested yesterday
I haven't heard anything back from them yet. So far, the experience has been very pleasant. Amy, who I believe is the VP, has been so nice and helpful. She acts like she really wants me to work for her rather than the take it or leave it attitude I have gotten from other people.
This is encouraging because I just tested with them. (nm)

I tested with them months ago.
They never specifically said how I did on their test, which was not medical transcription (in my case) but transcription of a phone conversation (not hard). I know I did well, though. I think you get put into a pool of freelancers and when they have work they contact you. I haven't heard anything since.
Not sure if they are Indian or not. I didn't get that impression but hard to tell sometimes. I know they have different offices around the country.
ANyone tested with Lee Perfect
That was a pretty long test, would hate to not hear anything back.
No, but I tested for them last week.. sm
Completed the test, but never heard back as to whether it was rec'd, results, or if pos'n was still available. I'm curious about them, too.
Seems a bit harsh. Obviously, since others have tested with no sm
problem, must be your issue. As I recall, the instructions say to call or email if you have any problems. Perhaps it is you who should READ.
Tested with SOAP
I liked the fact they only required 32 hours for insurance. I realized the cpl was probably a little lower but that somewhat made up for it. I was contacted to test with them a few weeks ago. I took the test (a long and very detailed test I might add with transcription portion and many multiple choice).
I feel I did reasonably well yet I never even heard a word back from them.? To me if someone took the time to take an hour long test at least they could do respond to the potential employee whether you passed it or not.
LOL! I tested for SOAP, too! nm

I just tested yesterday
I sent my resume some time ago, and was finally invited to test yesterday. I was told there were only 4 positions open. This company sounds like everything I've been looking for so my fingers are crossed.
Think I tested the next night. Thanks much. nm
//
Yes, I applied, tested the next day, and
No I haven't tested
just sent a resume, was waiting for a reply, but I imagine they've been pretty swamped with the new account and applications. I think I'll wait a few more days and email again if I don't hear anything, but I'm kind of checking out a couple of other options, too. Thanks much! Glad to hear you're happy there!
