this very conference call several times with other mergers/acquisitions I might buy the optimistic rah-rah load of horse flop I heard on the conference call today: Same management. No personnel changes. Same accounts. Same software. EVEN MORE WORK FOR EVERYONE - TWO CHICKENS IN EVERY POT! No changes whatsoever. A veritable worker's paradise. (Then all statements qualified with that old catchphrase ''for the foreseeable future.''
Been there, got the T-shirt. Got a three of them. I really don't need a fourth. Gave all the new owners a chance and within a year l those jobs became unbearable. Management and tech support disappeared one by one. Accounts I worked on sent to ''another office'' and I was assigned to new ones. Or work inexplicably dwindled to nil, as it was being phased overseas. Software changes out the wazoo because some suit thought a new system would be cool - repeatedly. What do they care that each time it took me two hours to do one hour's work for over a month? The transcription all got done, no loss of revenue to them, right? Would ''exciting new technology'' be code for VR?
I am less than excited about all this because over a fairly long career I've learned a thing or three. And I no longer get out my checkbook when somebody offers to sell me swamp land real cheap.
