As someone who has been working at Webmedx for awhile and encompassing this time period, I am scratching my head wondering if we are talking about the same company? There were a lot of ex-MQ people who came over but they were MTs. I can only think of 1 person in management who used to be associated with Medquist and she is great. The pay cut to which you refer is a gross misrepresentation of the facts. VR is traditionally paid at a lower rate than straight transcription and usually at 50%. Wmx is one of the few companies who pays more than that, plus allows you to count VR lines the same as transcribed lines towards your incentive bonus. You also do not mention how long you had been working VR when you took that hit, or how much effort you put into it. (Yes, I know, how dare I suggest that.) As with any change, there is a learning curve and change in any profession is a certainty. Like it or hate it, VR is here. It was foretold back in the 1970, so no one should be surprised that it is finally here. And, just so you are prepared, technology will continue to change. The company that does not change along with it will have no choice but to close and a union would be of little use to you. Just ask postal workers. Now, if you truly believe your statement about sadistic people, all I can say is whoa, have you considered meds.
