I miss YOG also! Good company, great line rate, and awesome account.

That's a pretty good offer. Does the line rate go up for over 175 lph? sm
Will you have VR thrown in there also?
Wow, nothing but good so far on this company. Gues if they offer me anything I will take it!
They sound like an amazing company to work for, especially the totally flexible schedule, which I would need, and the fact that they do not outsource. I sent them an e-mail asking them some questions, but I think I will go ahead and send them my resume as well. Thanks so much for all the info! It has really helped! One more question....do they offer direct deposit?
Good company, great people, good benefits.
Affordable insurance. Good luck!
Worked out to a pretty good hourly rate, just not the right company for me. nm

I am looking for a company where I can work as an IC for good lph rate part-time...
I am needing to supplement my income, as I am the sole provider for my family due to hubby recovering from illness. I would like to find a good company with good pay (9-11 cpl), part-time employee status or IC, hopefully providing all necessary equipment. I have been searching the archives all day and have not come up with any other than Webmedx, but it sounds as if I would be doing mostly ESL to make the higher lph. I could possibly come up with the PC if I needed to. I have 8 years acute care experience. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. If you don't feel comfortable posting, I have included my e-mail address. Thanks much in advance for all your help
webmedix- I have 25 years exp., was offered low rate of pay. Heard it is a good company. nm

Good company (not absolutely great). Been with
them for almost a year (March will be a year). Lots of work. Does not offshore. Pays well. You will read good and bad. I just have no complaints at this time and I have been doing MT for 16 years. Good luck in whatever decision you make.
Great company, better than average pay, good
benefits. The account that they are hiring for is a very challenging, high volume ESL account. Some people do okay on it, others just aren't able to do the work. The platform is Lotus Notes, but basically you type in Word, use SpeedType (same as ShortHand). They provide all hardware/software. They are pretty strict on schedule, not much leeway, though if you need off for an appointment there isn't a problem. QA is strict, minimum QA score is 98.5, 1200 lines/day. Good tech support. You get your QA'd reports back daily. Lately there has been a lot of OT on the weekends.
They are making a transition to something similar to VR. They are starting out slow with one account, one work type, but within a year hope to transition more accounts.
They pay for downtime. Pay is DD, always on time and correct.
MDI-Maryland is an excellent company, pay on time all the time, great line rate.
I left also because I went out and got my own client(s).
They are very nice people.
The only negative I can think of were the e-mails from the owner say work, work, work, we are out of TAT.
Other than that, which is very minor, it was a good experience.
Scroll down a week or so. Tons of good stuff. Great company

I love the company -- great people, good tech support, sm
good benefits. The pay could be more, but at least there is a production incentive tier that is not too tough to achieve. Overall, I would say this is probably one of the best places I have ever worked. If the no work situation continues, I guess I will just have to call them and ask for a secondary. Everyone in the office has always been very helpful and supportive. I just get nervous when it is not a holiday or anything and no files are available. That is just my little thing, I guess. I still would not hesitate to recommend the company to anyone.
Hope this helps.
Great company -- good benefits, average pay, easy-to-achieve sm
incentive tier, ExText platform, pay by direct deposit every 2 weeks, always on time. The people in management seem to genuinely care about the employees, which is a nice plus. I have been there since October and am very happy. Of course, one man's paradise is another man's hell it seems at times, but it is a good fit for me.
Good luck!
Webmedx fits that bill, great company, great benefits, great pay and always on time. NM

How much PTO does TT offer? Is it at your calculated hourly rate? What's the pay cut for VR? Ty.
Thinking of leaving the Web. TT sounds like a better place to be. Thanks.
Started small; great company. Rapid growth; not so great company
First year I was there was like heaven. Then the big growth spurt when they hired managers from another company (that I had run away from before because of their bad management) and let them kind of take over. Although I have no proof it was as though I got 'bumped' by these new people when they came in and I lost a good account, good manager, etc. My paycheck went down every month lower and lower, and it became harder and harder to make my minimal lines. Having any kind of advocate was nonexistent.
It depends on you and what kind of MT you are. Seems to me there are pretty much 2 types...
Sports like basketball where you have the pros who play with finesse, and then you have street players who think it is all about physical strength, period. More and more the physical strength is winning but the art of the game gets lost more and more...
As in this country where there are almost 2 sides now, those with intellect and thoughtfulness, and those who think the only way to be strong and be a leader is to beat up everyone who does not agree with you...and force your will on others.
Suffice it to say in my opinion WMX changed its philosophy of the way it treated employees and lost its heart when it grew, and it was literally almost overnight...
If you are a mass producer who has no care of what it takes to make money, if you are a 'street fighter' then it would probably be for you because you WILL have to fight for everything. Fight for the right account, fight for lines, fight to be treated fairly, etc. If you appreciate MTing for the art of MTing or have any kind of joy for the profession, my guess is you will not make it there very long...
This is happening all throughout the what used to be called profession. Seems to happening all through everything these days. Humanity and heart are being pushed down to the bottom...
Who would offer such a rate if they actually ended on paying anyone that or the accounts are....
probably awful, all ESL or something. No one pays 11 cpl these days so I figured there was a catch.
They do offer an incentive rate scale to PTers. NM

Gave me one rate in offer letter, then changed
SGS gave me one nonimpressive line rate in offer letter, which I agreed to, then uncerimoniously changed it to a lower rate one month later, told me I had no choice. They are not good about answering questions and do lack respect for the very people who bring in the money. It is sad and heartbreaking.
The only time I work OT, they offer 1-1/2 times my line rate which is OT pay IMO. sm
I rarely, rarely work OT though as I have kids in sports and a husband who works strange hours.
Wow, I got a great job offer...
A nurse I've known for years started her own business as a consultant for attorneys and is swamped, so she no longer wants to transcribe these 15-25 page (single space) reports herself. She called and asked me to work for her and she is paying me $30 an hour! :-) And she's a great, easy dictator!!
They are able to offer great benefits...
because they do more than just transcription. And, for clarification, my posts are referring to the supervisor to whom the MTs report directly. Ms. Nasty-for-no-reason-at-all.
Great company, great boss, great account!!!nm

What the big hoopla about PMSI. Are they really great to work for or something. What do they offer?
Good pay, benefits, platform, what??? It just seems A LOT of people are interested so I figured they must have something wonderful going on for them.
System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.
Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.
A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
Great pay rate on a 55 ccl, great lady to work for and work is not tough. sm
It is all IC work, although you still are expected to give a schedule if you are doing stat coverage. Only major drawback is the big wait for your first check -- almost a month from the time of your first invoice.
Good luck!
You are pathetic! I have a great life, loving family, work for a great company.
You might want to fix that.
You really don't have to shout (angry person), but yes you are wrong!!
That is my last word to you!
I will add that getting a great pay check every other Friday from Medware really puts a huge smile on my face.
line rate is low, but platforms are great
if you aren't someone who can totally work on your own from the beginning, you probably won't like it there as they do not provide much in the way of training, and getting a question answered is practically impossible.
I guess there is something to be said for them leaving you alone to type, I'm at another company now and I get about 500 IMs a day from the account lead with gobbledygook like way to go team - yes it's nice to get a pat on the back once in a while, but 20 times a day doesn't help my production any.
Okay, I'm now off topic, but TTS might be a good fit if you don't mind figuring everything out for yourself.
That's great.What's the rate?Do you work holidays?
nm
It's a great company -- lots of work and great pay. sm
Web site is www.mditrans.net. If you need anymore info, feel free to ask.
AXOLOTL - A GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT INSURANCE
Axolotl has AWESOME, AFFORDABLE insurance. Family plan medical and dental costs a little over $300.00 MONTHLY. They also pay for family plan vision in its entirety. STD, LTD, 401K with match and flex spending account, great PTO and HOLIDAY pay. OH and paid downtime in the case you run out of work, which doesn't happen often!!!
great line rate? I suppose that rules out the beast
haha
Sounds like a good offer.
If it is high hourly with good benefits, but don't know the company. Don't know of anywhere else offering such a good thing. Might be worth a try. Good luck!
Can someone offer anything good to say about EDIX side
of Spheris. I really need this job, but I have heard some not so good things about EDIX side of Spheris. Also, there are no recent posts regarding EDIX, so can someone offer up their good experience with them. The last I read, they do not pay for spaces and dock for errors. I am not looking for a fight on this board. I just want someone's elses opininion on EDIX side of Spheris. I really appreciate this and I thank you and god bless.
IMO, they'll keep a handful of good MTs and offer...
them Editor positions to simply clean up the garbage that will come from their probably 90%+ Indian MT force. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Plain and simple, these companies are out for $$.
I'll get slammed for this, but I say all U.S. MT's should quit, leave them high and dry, and see how many of their clients dump them. If everyone could stand by their pride and do this, these outsourcing companies would flop. I do understand that there are those who have bills to pay (don't we all), but there are plently of companies out there who do not outsource. U.S. MTs need to accept the fact that in some situations where their company is outsourcing oversease, they are simply being used. Sad, but true. This is only my opinion.
Does anyone know of any good companies that offer IC status and little ASR?
I'm working for MQ right now as flexible part-time but thinking I want to go back to IC status. I just have this feeling that things aren't going to be as flexible as they used to be. That and I'm sick of all the ASR and getting paid crap! Most of my work is ASR, I'm getting way more lines, but my paycheck is smaller!?!?! Need flexibility and a decent paycheck! Any input would be great from anybody! I've worked only for MQ for 8 years and wondering if there would be anything better out there!
Nada...... Can't complain though, great line rate is worth no extra gifts at X-mas. nm

reCan someone offer anything good to say about EDIX side
There is not an EDIX side. It is one company Spheris.
Are there any GOOD companies that offer IC status (and no weekends?) ??
I would really like to work a Monday through Friday job. Plus, I prefer IC status. Probably an impossible combo...
Thanks!
AllHealth in GA - Good company, good equipment, any info about this company? (sm)
What type of work do they have? Any op reports? Appreciate any info.
Great company, great boss....
I use to work there. The dictators on my account were really good. They use Emdat/Inscribe. Pay on 1st and 15th by direct deposit.
No Indian company would offer
x
That's strange. When I received an offer, I thought it was competitive and the benefits were good
especially medical insurance benefits for family. Maybe I did not look at them very close. Could you elaborate on what you were offered? I really thought they were decent pay and benefits.
Great company. I've been recommending this company for a long time.
x
that is a good rate, is it IC
do they pay spaces and how is the work
It's a good rate af pay
and what I see more often. First, it is not only $8 per hour as you say in your post, but a base of $8 plus the production incentive. I make as much as I did before the new plan and I am very happy with my position. They must be doing something right as we always have work and I enjoy editing the reports on my account. The people at Medware are great. As I mentioned before, if you do not like the new pay plan why do you not transcribe? Medware's line rates are competitive and they have a good insurance plan.
Not really a good rate at all. VR can be
just as challenging with its small errors as MTs. There are many VR reports that have to be completely redone by the editor.
The pay is an insult to the profession. Line pay is an insult to the profession.
Would this be a good rate? 7 cpl at
A line equals 55 black-characters per line, whatever that means.
what is a good rate
To this poster and anyone else who cares to reply, what is a fair line rate for a very good Transcriptionist with 3+ years experience, who types clinic notes in a variety of specialties (10+) also op notes and ER reports...at 65 characters per line (spaces counted), with about 10% of notes sent to QA, who is accustomed to typing for 8-9 different dictators in an 8-hour shift about half of whom are LEP--limited English proficient (both English first-language and English as second language)? I'd really like to hear your thoughts on what such an MT should be earning. Thanks
What is a good rate for ASR
5-6 cpl is the most I've heard of. Generally half of straight line rate. ASR puts in words that aren't there, leaves out ones that are, a lot of complete nonsense. Occasionally it does come up with a word you might have to look up, like an instrument name. Usually have to retype 50-75% of it. Not worth it for the time it takes to do. Just another way to lower our pay and increase the MTSOs. But it's the wave of the future, until they come up with something else.
Is this a good rate?
I will be interviewing with a local transcription company tomorrow and the owner has offered the following rate: 5.50 per 1000 words with each 5 Keystrokes counting as a word. Has anyone been paid this way and, if so, was it fair?
The platform they use is Microsoft Word, but other than that I do not know any further details.
