This is the best way to insert any command in Shorthand
Press Control+K and a box pops up that says: The next key typed will be the key assigned to the shortcut. Press the command key, i.e., Control+B for bold, control+U for underline, etc., and hit enter. A box will come up, make sure the correct command key is checked (ALT, control, or shift), or if backspace, etc., no command key. Hit okay. Then enter the word/phrase, etc. Repeat if the command to discontinue the bold, underline, etc.
No, they have not. (insert angry face here)
I talked with a few other MTs and nada. In my mind, this is just a really mean thing to do and there's absolutely no reason for it other than to be plain mean. The lady who was in charge of this stuff before had them out by January 3rd.
No end-of-year bonus either or even just a nice card....something that was always appreciated. Team that up with constant lack of work, a noose that gets tighter and tighter as far as big brother watching, and you have a company that has gone waaaay downhill as far as respect for it's employees goes.
If I had an icon I'd insert a wide grin here!
Ditto that! :)
It gives you a screen so you can insert your resume and email address.
.
I don't see the humor in that at all.
I love comedy, but I don't see the humor in putting something like that on the company board. Get a life!
Yes TT please humor us
We are derogatory about you so please don't be derogatory about us. We love TT!
show me the humor! Show me the humor!
well, blow me down!
I love your humor! nm

We thank thee so much for the humor!
Each post you make gets funnier.
Please do continue enlightening us and humoring us.
The OP apparently has a sense of humor and
apparently has to dealing with MTs all day.
You people are unbelievable but then the moon is getting full and you come out in droves. I like her sense of humor as well as her willingness to help an MT.
I am sure she knows the many personalities of the profession and is not offended which is evidenced by her remarks and good for her because if it were me, I would tell you what you could do with your remarks. Trying to help you say by pointing out what was obviously a transposition, I think not. No one on this board is trying to help unless it was that recruiter. Apparently too many out there with not enough to do.
Well, I am glad someone had the sense to see the humor
xx
Maybe I have a weird sense of humor,
but in my 14+ years as MT, I have never heard the term *offspring* used in a report in this context, always children or kids. I have had many animals over the years and so this is why my first thought was that and it just struck me as amusing (need this ever once in a while to keep me going on days like today...only down to 85 degrees at midnight and no air conditioning).
I think it was an attempt at humor to lighten up what obviously would be a sm
depressing situation for the employees. I don't work there anymore, but I know I would be devastated if I had to take a drastic cut in my pay. Anyone who tells you that you can do 2-3 times the amount of lines doing VR has to have brown eyes because they are full of it!
LIghten up. I doubt the CEO of TT or anywhere else for that matter gives a hoot what us peons think, do, or say as long as we keep those fingers flying and bring them in an income.
Just my opinion.
Insertion of some humor to lighten the mood.

i agree, poor taste in humor.

I doubt someone who post such gutter humor would
x
I meant post as just a little lighthearted humor.

No sense of humor? Can only think in straight line?
qw
I think so. I have lost my sense of humor. I need to get it back. Has anyone found it? sm
I am stressed but I think it will bounce back. Things usually follow a cycle, and this too shall pass.
"Covert operation" - LUV your sense of humor, KittyToes - LOL
WMX-ers, please humor me. Are we seroiusly supposed to make up enough hours sm
to complete the required work week when there is no work? Before everyone jumps on me saying that I am lazy, don't want to work, need to ask for more accounts, etc., give me a break. I am quite new to the company, and I rely on a full-time work week for my benefits for my family. I already have 5 accounts and have asked for more. All are out of work (or so I am told). I have four small children, so working all hours of the night and the wee hours of the morning is not possible on a daily basis (but I am willing to do what I can to get my hours in).
I am asking an honest question here: Is there no leeway at all during the extremely slow holiday months? It is bad enough that I will pull in less money, but even worse that I could lose my benefits. YES I know it is slow at all companies during the holiday season. YES I know I could get a job somewhere else. If a current or past WMX-er could please just give me some insight, I would greatly appreciate it. :-) I got up earlier today to get a jump on things, and I ran out of work earlier! LOL I ran out of work at 10 a.m. (again).
I would not call it sarcasm, it sounds more like 'gallow humor'...nm
nm
Are you gay or an actor or both, Seymour. No offense but I like a little light humor to make me sm
smile on a day when I have hit the bottom of the barrel.
Glad I apparently put so much humor in your life tonight. You're welcome.
If you work for the hospital in my town, you get a RAISE on a regular basis. When did you get your last raise from your MTSO? The hospital furnishes the MT with a new Dell, pays for the virus protection (mine goes up every year - yup, it does), and pays the internet (yuppers, mine goes up every year). Good for you, count yourself lucky, but don't get too comfortable in your Ivory tower. Downsizing, cpl rate cuts, lots of things are coming your way. You just haven't gotten hit yet, but good luck with that attitude of yours.
Please refer to the statements the above poster mentioned about the brown-nosers and such. My post was not intended for you!!! Evidently YOUR company pays you for some of these things, or are you an MTSO, but mine didn't. Work for myself now on local accounts. Got tired of your MTSOs and the little profit I was making.

No advice, but humor.. my girlfiend calls that "the speed of loneliness"

oh my gosh, im so sorry.. please see msg
i was talking about northeast transcription.
assistmed pays 7 cpl without spaces, headings, or template headings already in the report.
sorry about that
my gosh!
All of us know that losing the jobs with Heartland is not solely AAMTs fault, however, Peter, who was past president and now executive director, is still going over to India to tell them they have to improve their quality. We all think that the money would be better spent educating the general public as to where their social security numbers are ending up, and also help the entry-level MTs get jobs. At this point, the AAMT is supporting off shore, and we are supposed to just get used to it as a fact of life. That's what they want but for me, it will not happen without quite a few emails going to the congress people, and also educating whomever I come in contact with that they need to ask their physician to NOT have their reports transcribed offshore. So far, my friends and neighbors are shocked that their information might be going offshore. You also have to give some wiggle room (which you did not) for those MTs who were just starting out and were hired by Heartland. For them, they wanted an opportunity, got it with Heartland, and then got laid off. From what I have heard, they are grateful for the experience they did get. Entry-level MTs have to take a job where they can get it, Indian or not, just for some experience. No one is blaming AAMT, but I for one will not support them any longer as the money I pay per year is most definitely going to be the thing to put me out of a job eventually. May as well keep it in my pocket and invest it yearly. I'd be better off, and so would everyone else. Mind you, I've been a member for 12 years. If I had saved that money and invested it, I'd be sitting pretty good right now. Instead, it is helping pay for AAMT to support offshoring. That's the beef.
Oh gosh - just tell her you don't know
Oh my gosh...
thanks, I really didn't even think about that.
WELL, GOSH, GEE, DUH
You're right. I feel so stupid. But, is that all there is to it? It's sad that now we not only have to worry about work going overseas, but we have to be on the lookout for work that goes over and bounces back, with additional cuts in pay in order to share the profits, thanks to the participation and cooperation of American companies acting as go-betweens.
oh gosh you ARE new
We'll be waitin to hear from you on the flip side in a couple months. Make sure you always use the same name - I love to compare those a couple bumpy months down the road.
Oh, my gosh
You should go back and check your sources...
Gosh, I wish I could get ops. I wonder how one gets them.
And I CAN do ops. I NEVER get them. Ticks me off.
Oh my gosh...
Seriously, my heart goes out to the 27 MTs that were terminated today and the rest who are possibly facing termination.
The entire country is in such a downward financial spiral right now that any of us could fall victim to a round of layoffs no matter by which MTSO we are employed.
I wish each and every one of you the best of luck in finding another home as quickly as humanly possible.
***HUGS TO MY FELLOW MTs***
Oh gosh! Not Vonage! Now this is looking very bad...sm
Gosh, sorry to hear that. nm
My gosh!! Where do you work?...sm
You have a great job!
gosh! idiots!
heehee :0)
Gosh, you are so lucky
You are so lucky to be able to just use the ALT-K option! I have to use the CTL-arrow keys and follow along word for word, because I have such poor draft quality reports that come through. I end up changing nearly every other word, adding punctuation, deleting words, deleting punctuation, etc. I know it actually takes me more time to edit all the mistakes in the VR report than it would to just type it. It basically just types out a bunch of nonsense. I sure hope it gets better, but I have my doubts as long as I've been doing it now. I'm glad you are having luck with it though!
Gosh! You mean ''we may ALREADY be
x
My gosh!! What is wrong with you people?!?!
READ WHAT HAS BEEN POSTED ALREADY!!!
That song is .. oh gosh, don't laugh
from Soundgarden and it's called Outshined. Early 90s, late 80s, I suppose, but I love that line!!
Oh my gosh! No way! Diskriter made MQ
look nice, kind, and organized! Yes, I worked there and it was horrible - horribly run, horrible management, no organization - sounds like MQ! No thanks.
I remember when they were so popular. Gosh,
nm
Gosh, maybe. They honestly weren't bad.
I have transcribed much, MUCH worse ESL than what was sampled on their test. When they asked me what percentage of ESL I had transcribed for in an average work day, I told them 20% or less and that's when they said that their work involved 80% ESL. But man, that 20% that I got at my former job was some of the worst on the planet, I swear!
Gosh you TT recruiters never give up do you?
:>
Wow, "get away with" - good gosh sm
please check your expectations! Every MT company in the world struggles with getting the right balance of MTs for their work volumes. You were there for a whopping 1 month a year ago and still sound bitter. Maybe errors were made when you were with Webmedx, but it doesn't mean this is a bad company for everyone, especially at this point in time!
Gosh you are a bitter person. ...sm
You sound so bitter. You are confusing venting with looking for pity. Sometimes people post on here simply to hear other people's stories who are in the same boat. You know sometimes people just need to vent a little. It doesn't mean they want your pity.
Oh my gosh... shaking my head for you .... sm
Wow! I can honestly say that is even worse than I have been experiencing and I really did not think that to be possible.
They are worse than I thought.
See? It is that lack of communication that is utterly disgusting, dispicable, and absolutely disrespectly to us MTs who work so frickin hard for them.
MDI OWNER & MANAGEMENT: ARE YOU PROUD OF YOURSELVES? Sleep tight tonight. Sleep tight with the money we have made you without any consideration for us. You could have at least pointed us in a direction where WE (you like that don't you cause that's how you say WE in your own e-mails to us, like we're a cozy family) could have also been successful.
