In Reply to: You are very wrong. With only a few years under your belt, you should be sm - MTSO
Sounds like you have the problem.....and are very willing to attack, gut and spit out.
Of course I could be wrong.

Um, I think you need to read the original post. sm
It really might be a good idea to read a post before ASSUMING that you know what it is about and spouting off at the mouth. I'm embarrassed for you.
HOW do read my original post
and come away thinking I was equating 'wearing clothes from WalMart - to - creating medical records with gross errors?'
Seriously, how? If you still do after re-reading it, then you just didn't get my meaning.
Please re-read the original post.
There was no question as to whether someone had to work it or not. The question was to why there should be incentive pay to go along with working those hours.
Your rant, while posted in this thread, actually does nothing to address it, but rather seems to have provided you a place to vent....why so blue, Boo? Did you have to work the weekend?

JLG IS DISHONEST

I just completed an interview process with JLG. The owner presents herself as an MT who understands our situations. But they are very dishonest. Do not trust them. They are liars. I just wish I could find some honesty in this business. I have been in it for 20 years. It used to be a professional career with integrity, but not anymore. The disadvantage of working over the internet is that companies do not see you as a person, but as a computer, or a typist. They don't have to look into our eyes when they lie. They just really don't care. Thanks for listening.

You are correct. I totally read the original post wrong but
I had a long day, but that does not change the fact that the Allstate ad IS appalling. :(
Oh my goodness...why can't people read
what is written? I know that you are part of the management team of the company, but for goodness sake, can you please get it right? I said I FINALLY received payment of the first check when the answer to why I was not paid was I just didn't do it, etc. The second payment is still not here. I think what speaks volumes are people like you - who told me that you come here and post and bad mouth those people that you feel are bad mouthing you - and think that no one will notice. I have another job with a company that pays their bills and pays their people and do not hire people simply to get their backlog down and then screw them. I have said nothing that cannot be backed up by voice mails, emails, instant messages, etc. from either management or a management representative. Also - you can accuse me of tact not being a virtue that I possess, but honesty is far from what you displayed. The fact that there were others who never were paid as well speaks volumes.
that's not what the original poster wanted to do - at least not how I read it

My original post
I apologize for stirring up a hornet's nest however, I see soo many people complaining on here about the fact that they only want to work certain hours, they don't want to work weekends, and so on that it angers me. Yes, I work weekends, but that is because of the fact that my s/o works on the weekends, so generally I take a day off during the week, that way, I can run my errands. I am an employee for a company, however, I really don't have set hours, nor do I work a straight 8 hour day -- I generally work more, because like all of us, I have bills to pay as well and know approximately what I have to make to be able to have a roof over my head and food on the table. I am my sole support and live in an area with a relatively high cost of living as well. I was making great money up until a couple of years ago, but things happened and I have had to take a job at a lower rate of pay, but at least it is a job. The key here is being flexible in your hours. If there is no work available, then maybe there will be in a few hours and you have to explain to friends and family that this is how it works. Luckily for me, I found a great fit with a company, its only one account, one hospital and I have never run out of work.
In my original post about this, I wanted to say sm
edict rather than law, but figured I'd get jumped on using that word. One of the late-night talk-show hosts referred to it as a law when one of the guests was baiting him to say, Merry Christmas.
The point is, you knew exactly what I meant in the first place. Oh well. Glad I gave No Name a LOL! Laughing is healthy.
Yes, the original post that started this all was by DK.

Maybe you should reread the original post. sm
OP thinks no response required when you apply for a job.
Re: The flame by my original post
Folks I'm sorry someone considers my post a flame. That was not my intention, but then again I have never been treated worse by an employer in my whole professional life. That's why I'm looking forward to working for a company without local roots and the small town, small-minded mindset it brings.

follow up to my original post
I see certain people on this board, who post under the same names and I can take a 1 hour break, a 2 hour break or a 3 hour break and they seem to be whining and complaining about life -- yet they can get new puppies, new kitties, new other animals but BOTTOM line -- oh gee no work guess what people -- I have to swtich back and forth between 2 accounts on my MAIN account and 2 accounts on my secondary -- I literally work till I dropand thank heavens, I am in a relationship where my significant other understands -- yes, we ALL have to deal with being on hold with India, but that is where you take a day, to pay the bills, vent with customer service reps, etc and move forward -- and like I told my other half -- bill dosent get paid its YOUR responsibility - a relationship, whether it be marriage or othewise takes 2 people.
And as I mentioned before, TAKE THE time to learn online resources as well -- for example, if you hear Kem-7 THINK Chemistry-7 -- learn punctuation, grammar and most of all spelling and --sorry been working from 7 am to 11 pm -- with VERY few breaks -- might help in the long run
By the way, I nearly forgot this original post, as
I got so absorbed in reading the GREAT posts below. I am now so proud to say that I have just done what you suggested, and am now joyfully employed with one of the three companies you listed - go US MTs! I left the company-who-shall-not-be named due to these issues, and feel I have at least tried to do something. Its a good feeling, too, for a change.
The ORIGINAL post ONLY intent was
to help protect fellow MTs from working for this schister of a MTSO. THAT IS ALL.
No more information needed in so far as what steps we are taking to secure payment, except that we will prevail. I GUARANTEE YOU THAT.
your original post about is it fair sm
to have these horrid dictators for the test. Back to the question......YES IT IS. That is probably a sample of what this company does. You took the test, you didn't like it because the dictation was bad, so move on! Yes this profession has come down to lines and cpl etc etc and its a darn shame. If you don't want the crap don't work for a company that has crap dictators. I don't know where you are going to find that though. All companies have accounts with bad dictators. you are bound to get some of them. Doing them all day long, no I wouldn't want to either. That is why they tested this way because that is probably the account. Believe it or not, there are folks who have an ability to decipher these dictators (I don't want it either). It has changed old MTs like me who have been in this business for 35 years.
Bad dictators have always been part of the profession, its a part of medicine! You don't have to do it, you tested, you didn't like it...GREAT move on
original post was dated 8/12 --sm
and is stuck between *has Spheris moved* and WMX post. It had 90 something views.
No, no one answered her original post.
She then came back and posted a very rude post in which we responded rudely back. Maybe if she had kindly come back and asked why no one responded to her post she would have gotten nicer answers. The fact is, I did read the initial post and did not respond to it as it would have taken way too long to go into detail everything that being an IC entails. If she had been more specific with what she wanted to know, I more than likely would have responded to the original post.
Follow up to my original post
I worked for a company where it was a combination of VR and straight typing -- I never knew what the next report was going to bring and at the same time, started working for a company that does straight transcription. I am not adverse to VR, if that is all that is done; however, these companies have started the thing of paying one rate for straight typing and another for VR -- that's where it is very frustrating as I am sure it is to many of you. I know the goals that I have to set for myself in order to keep a roof over my head, pay my utilities and keep food on the table and if it means putting 12-15 hours a day in, then I do it, knowing what my priorities are. For those of you that are fortunate enough to have a spouse who also brings in an income, that is all well and good, but many of us are single and have to do what we can to survive. My rent alone is close to $800 a month, then I have cable and electric on top of it to pay, and right now, I have very little food in the fridge but I am managing to get by.
This is what you said in your original post RESPECT..sm
We need to know more than most RNS, LPNS and
I dare say doctors -
Another case of swelled head?
Jo..I e-mailed you a response about your original post....(nm)
mmmm
not offensive - the original post WAS racist......
I lost the original post, but found it again sm
Please email me too with your experiences if you cannot post on the board. I really am interested in anything you have to share on this journey!
reread original post pleeeze!! She did not
say she was an employee. Really people....we need to be careful when we spew this crap!

I hope you saw my original answer to this post
over on the main board before they moved your post and thus dropped my reply....
$48 for the medical, $10 for the dental, and I don't know how much for the vision because I didn't opt in for it this year. That's per paycheck, do double that to get the monthly fee. I did opt for the higher-deductible medical; the lower-deductible premium share was about twice as much.
Very odd, I put your original questions in quotes, but they did not show up in the post. nm
I'll help! I left MQ at the time of this original post
I found a great job with a great US company, and have my self respect back. Enjoy my work again. Go USA!! Go MTs!!
Stop justifying/explaning your original post (sm)
Those of us with some compassion understood exactly what you were trying to find out, Alice. You don't need to justify or explain that post for the benefit of that black cloud hovering around the boards posting negative responses to everything she reads. Your post was fine, and your concern was understandable.
Ignore this person, who obviously just enjoys p*ssing on everyone's parade because she feels someone p*ssed on hers.
Good luck to you in your decision making, and I hope you make the right choice in finding a good fit for you.
did anyone get a response from the original poster? this post is just fishy, especially since they
nm
If you find the original post so offensive, why did you respond at all?
Why don't you get a clue? A good number of people enjoyed this. If you dislike it, you can just move on to some rosy-happy-fun filled post and leave the rest of us to chuckle without being harassed.
Looks like the original post got pulled, too. Too many of us looking for "the" place to work,

Try re-reading the original post...you're missing the point
Testing with New England Medical Transcription - follow up to original post
I sent an email to the recruiter when I was unable to access the files and received one back from her this morning (Monday) informing me that apparently someone who was also testing had inadvertently deleted the files off the FTP site.
I had posted that question right up under the original poster and prior to her post being answeredsm
Looks are deceiving and I AM paying attention.
Read Spherson's post below, who admits, in the post, they do pay it.
zzzzz
Don't do it. Click on your original post and towards the bottom middle click
on related messages and you'll find lots of stuff, one of it good.
I read your post. What do you want me to re-read?
and it seems those are your posts, too, so things just didn't add up and seemed inconsistent. If a place dropped me down to p.r.n. at 7 cpl or whatever and I already had another job where I could get 1000-1500 lines, I wouldn't give the first place a second thought so just couldn't figure out why anyone else would.
DUH, read my post again
It has not happened to me, nope. Also, I don't know of anyone that it has happened to. We have a forum that we can post on and no one has said anything of the sort on it. Why is that? Why would you come on here and post instead of on our forum if there is a problem? I have seen other issues brought up on the forum and have not ever seen them called emotional.
Also, if I was an MT that has been there for years and found that I wasn't getting paid what a newbie was with the same experience or less, and I knew I had been making my line count and been a good employee, I would say something. I would demand a raise. If I didn't get what I was worth, I would find a new job that would pay me what I was worth. As a matter of fact, this is exactly what I did. I have plenty of experience and was not getting paid well. So, I asked for raise and was told they couldn't give me one. So, I left and found a better paying job. I didn't stick around to become a complainer. I mean, who else is going to take care of you if you don't? Whose responsibility is it to make sure you are getting paid well or treated well?
Did you even really read my post? sm
Gosh oh gee. I said, nurses are making more money not less, like MTs. That is ALL I said. How in the WORLD you got all that out of my short post I will never know but it is sure being blown out of proportion. I have the greatest respect for nurses. Stop trying to put words in my mouth, please.
Thanks, I did read Not Me's post....s/m
and I responded there too.....with a different name is all...
it takes great minds to think alike....and we cannot convince the entire world.....but we can make change in our own little groups in our families and friends and hopefully everyone will pass around the good stuff! The love and compassion....
I think you need to re-read my post.
I think you need to re-read my post. I said they were TRIVIAL. I didn't say that I did not CARE. I didn't say that I sent out terrible reports to make my work go to India. How do you suppose when there is more than one way to do something you chose the right way depending on what person is checking work?
I have read your post and all the
others down the page and I agree with you completely. I left a company last year because the QA person just would not let anything I did alone when it came to punctuation. You are correct when you say that punctuation is a style issue and except in cases where it would change the meaning of a sentence, it should be left up to the MT to use as she thinks/knows is correct. I am now with a company who uses this policy. When I was on direct QA for a new account, my QA person did sometimes change punctuation, but this only reflected her own style preference. She made sure to tell me that this did not count against me and that my style was also correct. If I were you and they keep this up, I would look elsewhere to preserve my sanity.
No, not in QA (if you would read my post below)
the one that begins, no, no, what I meant was if your work is accurate and doesn't require much QA. I don't know the percentage of accuracy; I don't remember, but it is a bonus for the MT's, not the QA people. I have no idea if they get bonuses, nor do I care.
I don't think you read that in a post
Why would they mess up a good thing? I think you are mistaken.
Read the post
Read the post on the main board, I think it was a couple days ago, labeled the downward spiral of the medical transcriptionist, again this proves everything written is true and happening on a daily basis.
I should have read your post first sm
because I said almost the same thing in mine. Sorry!
What post did you read?
She asked where the good dictators went, and the reply was that off-shore MTs were sent the good dictators.
What a way to punish the good dictators. Now they get crap back for no reason, unless some poor American is assigned to clean up the mess.
