It's 6cpl gross line and raise after 3 days.. better than nothing. ;) nm

8 center per gross line...as good as 9/65 cpl?
d
I have been there awhile. The good posts are because over the past few years sm
they have really worked hard to improve employee relationships and it has worked. There are no problems there anymore. They used to say they were growing pains and we all wondered how long they could say that. Now I am glad I stuck it out because all the old problems (and I mean old being over 2 years or more) are gone. Great company to work for.
I've had steady work the past 2 days on
my primary account, but I'm pretty sure it only has to do with people being off. I don't think there has been any kind of major change for the greater good or anything. So I'm not getting excited. I'll be back at the soup kitchen probably next week - so someone save my seat!
I've been on OT all but 2 days the past 4 months. If work is slow
that just means we get a chance to get caught up with TAT.  Get paid for downtime too if no work.
A gross line is not based on characters. A gross line is
anything on the line constitutes a line, so if you only have 1 word on a line it is still counted as a line.   A gross line at 8 cpl roughly translates to 10 cpl/65 character.
Every month it's the same. Grab all the work on the last days of the pp and
It's very annoying.
I encountered slow to no work the weeks preceding Thanksgiving and several days after but the past
few days it has picked up. Can I ask which account/accounts your on? I think that makes a difference. Mine are part f the Escription platform. I honestly got really ticked a few weeks ago when we had no work and they were still hiring. For one, it's bad enough when we have to share some of our work with the Indians, but how fair it is to hire these poor people who think they are getting work where there is none.  It makes no sense to me either. Why not provide work to your current employees than drive them away by taking on too many new people.
Exactly. I work for a chiropractor and I get 10 cents a gross line.
.
Got offered 1.5 cent/line this past week....she said her editors tell her they make good $$....
.
Not sure if you need bennies or not, but QT hires IC and has plenty of work and pays gross line! sm
You can apply at www.qtmedical.com It's a great place to work. Pay is always on time, always correct, recognized for holidays. They pretty much leave you alone and let you work. Very, very rarely run out of work. Depending on experience, pay usually starts around 7 to 8 cpl (gross lines) :)
This is not true. I have been there a month and get a good line rate and paid for spaces. ??? nm
nm
You needed a Cphone & 2nd line to work there in the past. nm
s
QT gets my vote! I love it! Gross line pay, on time, 1 account, steady work! Great place!!!! nm

Pay is good, platform very easy. Got line count within days. (sm)
The people you work with/for are extremely helpful. There is an incentive plan which they will explain to you during interview process. No 401 match - that is a bummer. First year PTO only a few days, but picks up the next year.

Apply and have the recruiter go over it all with you. It is well worth the time.

Good luck.
I work on Docuscribe (not MQ) and have also worked on Chartscript in the past. My line counts went
down significantly when I went to the DQS platform.  Don't know if it is being manipulated or not, just simply stating the facts as I have seen them.
$2500 gross a month working for a national

Thanks for the info! Do you *feel* like you make more with a gross line v. character line? (nm)

Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Could someone help me with the figuring out of gross line versus character line? sm
I have generally been paid by character line, 65-character line.  Now, I have had job opportunities offering to pay gross line but it like 3 cents cheaper than what I am being paid now.  A few places I have read that gross line is MUCH better, but is it much better if the pay is so much lower?  Please explain how it works or equals out.  This position has offered me 6 cents per gross line - what would that equal out to in character lines?  Thanks...so confused...
Spaces are not taken into account with gross lines....a line is a line...sm

if there seven words on a line.

or two

one

or a full line of typing...all of the companies that I have worked for define a gross line as 1 inch margins, 12 pt courier font....does not matter what we type in margins or font.....we convert all reports to the 1 inch margins and courier 12 font and then count the lines.  not the blank spaces between the lines.

Hope this helps.

I have been very busy the past month

nm

Constantly for the past month or more!!!!!

Those who have work probably work other than a day shift and M-F.  There are definitely too MT's on day shift and weekdays.  I hate working weekends and nights, too, but sometimes that is when the work is there at Transtech.

This profession is just going down, down, down hill . . .

"a line is a line" means gross line.
Gross line is a line, no matter how long or short.
A gross line is any line that has a character on it, so even if

a line just has one character on it, it is considered a line.   If you are getting 6 cpl per gross that is approximately equal to 8 cpl based on 65 characters.  Sometimes the font on a gross line can make it be less than that though.

If you have not passed the ortho test in the past 30 days and want to sm
know your errors, please email KeystrokesHR@aol.com and ask for the results. We have re-evaluated the procedure that we have had for the past 5 years and agree that this can be sent to those requesting the results. The test is harder than it seems; the coordinator is looking for very specific things and requires 100% to hire someone. Please send an email requesting this and we will get it to you right away.
I believe there were posts in the past. (sm)
Check the archives. As I recall, it wasn't good!
Maybe these past posts will help --

I don't work for them but I was thinking about it and I remembered there was a lot of chatter about them within the last couple of months so I did a search of the MTStars Company Board cause I thought I remembered something that might be helpful to you.  Until you get updated info from current or past employees maybe this will help.

Medical Axolotl [2007-08-25]

Med - employee $100/mo., employee +1 $200/mo., employee + kids $200/mo.and employee + family $300/mo.

Axolotl [2007-08-18]

Axolotl expects quality and reliable MTs. Due to the fact, they do not overstaff, it is IMPERATIVE, everyone be there for their scheduled shifts. They provide OUTSTANDING and affordable benefits, as well as more than competitive pay. If you meet the above standards as an MT, then you should apply. If you don't meet these standards, then you need to find a company who doesn't expect you to produce quality documents and to show up for your shift. I have been an MT for 13 years. Axolotl is better than any company I have ever researched or any employerI have worked for. If you are looking for former employees who did not meet the above standards, I am sure you can find them.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

There have been several posts about them the past
couple of weeks.
I have seen several posts over the past
few months (possibly by the same person) who talks about how great they pay.  Someone posted the past week that they offered 8 cpl.  That is not great pay by any stretch, especially with some of the crappy accounts they have.
gross line pay

If using Meditech, getting paid 8 cents/gross line is equivalent to what in getting paid per 65 cpl?    TIA

gross line pay
Sorry, that question doesn't make any sense.  What I meant basically is this:  Is 8 cents/gross line in Meditech's system good pay?  I was typing in Fusion and getting 7 cents/gross line at one time and it equalled far less lines than 7 cpl at a 65 char. line.  Does this make sense to anyone?  Thanks.
It is sad is what it is....used to be that per GROSS line.
x
They did not say if it was gross line
or 65 ch, but I think that they feel that because it is part time, that is all that is deserved. Part time or not, an acceptable pay should be required. I doubt they will get many applications, except maybe a newbie looking for experience and does not have to pay rent, etc.
Gross line pay is almost ALWAYS better
depending on the rate of gross pay. For instance, I just did a sample line count in MPTools. I compared one document and counted a gross line - anything with writing on it and a 65-char line (spaces included) and I compared the rates at .10/65char and .055/gross and for the SAME REPORT it showed: $96.06 for the 65-char line and for the gross Line it was $119.96. Still more money that way. And it adds up.

For the most part, from what I have seen, .10/65-char line is about what most companies TOP OUT at, so you are still better off with a gross line, at least from what I can see in the comparison.
Is that per gross line?....
nm
Of course the gross line is more, but what is

the percentage of ESL, how easy is the platform, are there any benefits, can you be flexible with your schedule  ....

I don't know anything about either company.  I would search the boards and read everything you can find and make you a list of pros and cons.

GROSS LINE PAY

Are there any companies left that still pay the hard-working medical transcriber by the gross line?

A gross line is a gross line, however, if
the gross line is 75 characters long, instead of the usual 65, and you have long paragraphs, then you are making less money than if you were on a 65 character count.
6 cpl per gross line

Yes, it really is gross line as you described. nm

It's 6 cpl per gross line. Nothing to

gross line, it's going to come out to the average pay for 65 character - about .085, maybe 0.09 cpl

gross line
so disappointed, those were the old ole' days.
There have been posts in the past about MT World and
they were all bad.  I believed they offshored, don't know if they still do.
Do we have to go through THIS again?? Read past posts! .....nm
nm
There have been some negative posts about them in the past. nm
s
Please, please, please....read past posts.
They should give you enough warning.
You may want to search for past posts (sm)
This has been discussed frequently in the past.  I do not personally do this type of transcription, but I have seen posts generally anywhere from 3.5 to 4.5 CPL.  I am assuming that 5 cpl is a little above average.  There are also others, I'm sure, who are making more.  But definitely search for past posts, I think you will find more info there.
There have been lots of posts in the past. Rather
than restate my experience if you will open your post and at the bottom click on related messages and you'll find lots of information.
Posts from the last 2 yrs said not a good place to work. Lots of MTs
s
Gross lines unless it is a line of 72+
characters or more, then you can really get cheated. Once company that has someone plugging for them on MTChat pays gross lines, but those lines are up to 84-104 characters in some parts of the report, so you really get taken to the cleaners with the gross count.
