There has been no mention of this for months because of no work/low work for months now.
Today might be a good to apply since there is work today.
We have had plenty of work for the past 3 days, and now getting emails to work schedule to completion and get required lines or more!

I think I work for the comp. with an M that you mention but they are the ones I made more with than
I had previously at another job..huh?? I do notice a discrepancy in accounts. On one account, I get a great line but when I tried another one of their accounts I was not making the same..not even close. I questioned it and was told that the way it is counted is per the hospital/client's contract and they set the rules. So, I just assumed that that facility got a contract that paid for less things than my main account. You can email me privately if you'd like to compare accounts. Trust me, I wont share with anyone. I have had more than my share of issues with this company and am seeking to move on. Good line count or not, sometimes it is just not worth it.
Funny you should mention
the microchip. I was just reading yesterday about a company in Delray Beach, FL, Applied Digital Solutions Inc., that produces just such a chip, called the VeriChip, for implantation under the skin . . . Well, I just googled to get the name of the company and found this:

VeriChip Corporation Launches HEALTH LINK SYSTEM in Florida Revolutionizing Future of Emergency Medicine
Greater Palm Beach Area Residents and Hospitals First in State to Benefit From New Service
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Florida's emergency health care system is receiving a shot in the arm this week with the introduction of Health Link, a revolutionary bio-medical technology created by VeriChip Corporation of Delray Beach, FL.
The introduction is initially aimed at residents and hospitals in the Greater Palm Beach area. The service will eventually be introduced throughout the state and the nation. Sixteen hospitals in the region have welcomed the System into their emergency room protocol practices and signed on as program participants.
For program participants, this means they will able to receive critical care more rapidly, accurately and safely. Emergency contact information is also provided, offering greater peace of mind for the Health Link member, his or her family and caregivers.
Health Link requires implanting program participants with a tiny microchip (similar in size to a grain of rice) just under the skin in the rear upper portion of the right arm.
The Health Link microchip contains a 16-digit identification number that, when scanned by a Health Link hand held electronic reader, provides a secure link to a private, online database that reveals the patient's personal health records and emergency contact information.
No other information is contained on the microchip. Once the Health Link microchip is implanted, it cannot be lost or stolen. http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20080429005913&newsLang=en
I told you this was going to happen back in 2005. Here is a link to that article The mark of the beast is around the corner. http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/janak/051108
This chip is basically an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag. This technology will be able to be accessed easily for your name and identifiable information.
With the handheld device pictured here you can see how they can use this device.
The VeriMed Patient Identification System, which consists of a hand-held radio frequency identification (RFID) scanner, an implantable RFID microchip, and a secure patient database, is being used to help rapidly identify and provide access to important health information on participating patients. http://www.technologynewsdaily.com/node/6339
This technology will come under the heading of other health information systems in regards to this bill.
I also want to inform you about S.1693. This takes S.2911 to the next level.
S. 1693
To enhance the adoption of a nationwide interoperable health information technology system and to improve the quality and reduce the costs of health care in the United States.
So, I guess the microchip is already here. And, of course, the guise of greater ease and safety, etc. with patient care/medical issues is the perfect way to implement this, having everyone believe it is for their own good. Pretty scary if you ask me.
Funny you mention
I was at the grocery store the other day and the bagger was on another checkstand so I started bagging my own. I joked to the checker that I was expecting union scale for doing so and she said Not anymore you don't - we start people at $9 an hour (minimum wage in our state is over $8). I've been through her line many times, so we sort of know each other in that way, and she started telling me how lousy things had gotten in the grocery business.
1. They've cut back and expect everyone to do more.
2. Their insurance benefits have gotten worse while their share of the premium has gone up. She had to pay $1300 a month for coverage last year when she had an extended leave in order to cover herself, her husband and one kid.
3. Their wages have been stagnant for 3 years and it doesn't look like the union's going to be able to get anything more than cost-of-living increases in the next contract.
Sound familiar?
Funny you should mention that...
Now I realize how stupid I must have sounded a few weeks ago when I went with my brother for his colonoscopy. I heard other patients at the front desk asking about the report and photos before they left the office. I thought they were requesting that the report be sent to their doctor when it was available or something. When we were getting ready to leave, the front desk person asked if we wanted the report/photos and I said, Oh, it's already been transcribed? I had no idea that was how the EMR stuff worked. I guess I'm a bit out of the loop!
and in my case, they have made NO
contributions to my MetLife account this year. Hope this is only my problem, just wanted to make others aware it was happening to me.
About that flexing: Funny you should mention that...
Oh, they allow flexing, alright... That's because there isn't enough work for all the MTs they have overhired and they EXPECT you to flex to get your line count in. Maybe you have time to work a 12- to 14-hour day just to get your lines in, but some of us have actual lives and cannot afford to flex. Oh, they try to sweet talk you into that, too, just like with VR. And thanks for admitting that you aren't the fastest typist: You see, these are the MTs that VR will benefit. The ones who are not that fast or that good. Those of us who are fast, know all the tricks, etc., VR is GARBAGE, A RIPOFF, ETC.
Somehow, I think those wrinkles that TT has developed are going to be permanent. Don't see how the largest, heaviest iron in the world can iron these out. If you are a TT MT cheerleader now, come back and let us know in a few months how you feel about TT.
And, hey, how DID you like that MT Week gift? Pretty much summed up how they feel about the MTs.
When I was hired, no mention was made of a minimum
line commitment. I have seen line commitments on my account ranging from 250 lpd up to 2,000 lpd. If you decide to apply and hear back from them, I would ask the recruiter that you talk with. I'm considered PT and don't do 2,000 lpd. If I remember correctly (don't quote me on this :o)), I believe I was told that FT was someone that did 6,000 lines per week. As we are SE's, there are no benefits whether PT or FT. I don't know if there is a difference in the pay scale regarding PT vs FT or lpd commitment. What I make works for me. I was hired and offered pay based on my years of experience, and all I know is that I was hired making more than what I had been making after 12 yrs at my prior company. I'm a very happy camper and don't worry about making less or more than someone else. I'm very happy with what I'm making - unheard of compared to what I have seen being offered at most companies :o)
Funny, but the lady I talked to on the phone about a job there made me decide right then for some
gut feeling that this wasnt for me. Not sure exactly what it was but sort of turned me off.
I think if you test well they will consider you on a case by case basis without the full 5 years.
I would definitely contact them anyway.
they may be willing to make considerations on a case-by-case basis s/m
I have a couple of situations that make 8 hours straight not possible for me, and when I hired on with the company I was with who recently merged with Transcend, they worked with me to find ways that would help me be productive without hindering my physical and personal limitations.
I am not going to list specifics, but I was very impressed at how willing they were to help me and they told me that they are willing to make considerations on a case by case basis.
No work is not the case
I know first hand that there is plenty of work to go around at Transcend. If you run out on one account, you switch to another. If you still run low you let management know and they will set you up with more work.
I know this because I was not happy on the account I was on and all I had to do was ask and I have been flooded with new accounts to work on.
I ask if work will be in my time zone in case of ?'s or need for

No mention of selling, just that they won't have work for for me

I am never out of work. I would mention this to your manager. sm
They are hiring because they have a lot of openings and must not realize that you do not have work.
in case you were not aware, some people will not work for a company who
outsources overseas. precyse does this quite heavily.
even though this board has 'flip-flopped' and now agrees with this practice, it is still driving our rates way down and has damaged our trust.
I have done two reports on individuals working with homeland security just this past week...hmmm, I wonder if they realize how vulnerable they would be having their 'vital information' shipped overseas for ANYONE to see. bet if they have a choice, their work is done here, and WHY WOULD THAT BE? Why would these people be more important than we are?
I would agree. Another case for sending work overseas (sm)
Those MTs work their schedules. Ask any MTSO or management of a national transcription company, and you'll find out it's like pulling teeth to get MTs with good work ethic to actually work the hours they are contracted to work. This is another reason that overseas transcription is used.
You may not believe me, but this *is* a growing trend in the MT industry. MTs that are both skilled and have a good work ethic are a rare find. I don't understand why - perhaps it is so many new MTs expecting working at home to be a walk in the park. I've definitely seen a downward spiral in the past 10 years.
Oh, I forgot to mention....must be flexible and have all day to devote to waiting for work.
The work fluctuates too much. Feast or famine there.
Sorry I forgot to mention I work for Keystrokes..never worked for Medscribe (nm)

Do you even have a clue as to how much one cycle of IVF costs? Try 15K to 20K and it takes on average three cycles to achieve conception...if at all. How many people do you know wait until they have $20,000.00 saved before starting a family? Get real.
Not that it's any of your business, having a child was not a mental issue for me. I initially didn't feel that it would be necessary to share the details of what led up to our infertility because I didn't see the relevance. Infertility is what it is. However, if sharing the details will prevent you or anyone else from drawing conclusions and posting abrasive half-truths, then here goes:
My husband, against my wishes, had a vasectomy when our only daughter was 3. Coming from a big family, I always wanted at least two children. Long story short: We went to Texas for the first reversal and Arizona for the 2nd (5 years ago). We spent our entire savings, which was close to 20k and both surgeries failed. My daughter prayed for a baby brother or sister every night. I had this tremendous burden of guilt because our infertility was self-inflicted. I knew she would never be a big sister or even an aunt because of our selfishness.
Infertility in and of itself is traumatic enough, but when it's self-inflicted, the guilt can be overwhelming. At least it was for me.
There, now you have the facts. However, if you find it more entertaining to post over-the-top fabrications about my complete lack of control and severe mental issues, as you called it, knock yourself out.
I have been pretty honest about my personal life and would appreciate it if you could just answer 2 simple questions.
(1) Dou have any children?
(2) In your opinion, do you feel that insurance companies should cover the cost of elective abortions?
You can just answer yes or no. I'm not posting anymore on this thread so you won't get any arguments from me.
Funny you should say that...M-F clinic work is exactly what I do;) sm
Like one poster said, the Su-Th or Tu-Sat scheduling seems to have become trendy.
I'm very content with the company and schedule I have. I just keep my eyes on the board to see what is available.
Funny. I worked a year and NEVER ran out of work (sm)
I was on one account. Literally only one time in the entire year did I have to go to a second account. However, I can do every single work type and have tons of experience. There were some ESLs, but it's nothing like the tough ESLs I'm getting elsewhere.
OTI was wonderful. It remains the best company I have ever worked for, and I've worked for many. I left because there weren't benefits, and I had to have them. If not for that, I'd be with them. Great people.
Their QA leaves you alone unless there's a problem. They don't give you QA scores - you either do an acceptable job, or you will hear from them.
You work when you want, just get the line count in every week. There's no schedule.
Software is a little dated, but not really MT unfriendly. Just could be improved. Not made by MTs and needs more input by MTs.
Friendly people. Absolutely the best out there if you don't need benefits.
I was a little troubled by that e-mail, too. The funny thing is, I work
an IC job that supplements my pay, and I got a call just Monday because I had not met my producton goal there. Apparently another vice president decided to earn a check this week...LOL.
No matter how much they jump up and down, you cannot transcribe what is not there. I was more than happy to remind that individual I do not get paid unless I work, so not meeting goal is probably MORE critical to me.
I thought by busting my tush on 2 jobs I would be guaranteed never to run out of work, but both failed me this past holiday. For all the gymnastics, I will be working all weekend this weekend just to have a decent paycheck. Sigh.
Funny about sending work out to India. I was curious and pulled up their
website, it says they NEVER send work outside the U.S.
That's illegal - an IC cannot be made to work sm
either a schedule, a set number of hours, or mandatory overtime.
I thought it made a difference to work
but unless you are working for the hospital it doesn't matter, you still get what they want you to have. I asked my last supervisor if they get psych work and was told they did but she saved them for another MT who liked them. The work I would get would be one-minute mush mouths. It sometimes took 20 minutes to complete one. That's the way it stayed until I finally left. I think that's an MT service thing because when I worked for the hospital, I typed whatever was next in line, no cherry-picking and no favoritism.
Sorry to hear that is happening to you. Hopefully, things get better either through communicating the problem or by getting a better job situation.
Actually, I'd be happy to work for 80s wages -- I made a lot more then. nm
I, too, so frustrated with TT NO WORK that I made typo
THEM THEM.
No reason to talk to them. They talk to us via email about NO WORK. Flex, flex, flex . . . overnight, into EVERY weekend, and then absolutely impossible to get line counts required.
Hate it when these companies OVERHIRE for a supposed account coming onboard and another company picks up the account from them! ! ! ! ! And we MT's continue with overhired MT's and NO WORK.

Something like the saying, TT is counting their chickens before they hatch NOT even thinking one thing about the MT's who have been sticking by them and continuing to pay their SALARIES while we cannot even get paid our OWN salaries, because we are PER LINE/PIECE WORK employees.
Those TT employees who work in the office and those mgmt-type people who work from home HAVE NEVER MISSED A PENNY from THEIR paychecks, when we are constantly getting LOWER AND LOWER paychecks due to their OVERHIRE.

WMX is a great company to work for. Made

that was union and they STILL made us work overtime, etc. Depends on where you
are. Personally, count me OUT! My experience is HORRIBLE and getting worse. I am now union free and tell everyone I know about my BAD experiences with the union! Companys do what they want anyway! When you start starving and no one will hire you because you are on strike you will get the picture
I "only" make $1.15 per report and have made over $62,000 this year so far. I only work 8 hou
5 days a week and pick up one 4-hour weekend shift a month. It depends on the account, your company, the report length, your expanders, normals, etc. I made $1.43 with Edix before I switched and even though I took a per report loss, I make more money in the past 2 years than ever with Edix. I rarely run out of work, which is a HUGE factor. I know that the company I work for is both praised and condemned on this board, but I am happy at KS.
I agree they have WAY over hired, but I am required to work my schedule..you got it made then!
Why is pay rate confidential? It is YOUR money that YOU made with YOUR hard work. You should be
:+
I would go back. The factors that made it difficult to work there before are no longer there
Clear expectations, documented style guide, friendly and helpful staff from the top down, consistent QA. They put in writing what they expect and if you do your thing within those expectations, you will thrive!
(I'm only a lowly MT, not anyone in a position to profit from these statements!)
not anonymous - I do work for Keystrokes, I thought I made that clear
I do work for them, it is hard not to trust anymore but yes, I do work for Keystrokes, I thought I made that clear. The other poster seemed cynical. I understand that. I love working for Keystrokes. it is an honest company. After all the other companies I have been with it is refreshing!
Saw the ad for Molave - made no bones about it being Asian work you are editing. nm

Plus my company is out work and I haven't made my rent yet, so am grouchy!

made type -- SO UPSET OVER TT and their NO WORK situation way TOO LONG now
sorry about type, but very, very upset with the TT has lost any concern/care for their MT's who make their paychecks for them. Dictatphone doesn't pay you your salary, nor pay for your raises. Your MT's allow your paychecks the remain the same and allow you to give yourselves RAISES.
Leads/sups, etc are transcribing OUR WORK now and we have none to little no paychecks to pay our bills.
You who are thinking of hiring on with TT better give some very consideration to your decision. GOOD ADVICE.
I used to work for a Tailor Made Transcription that was called TMT for short - does that sound right
x
I am glad to hear that a lot of money can be made with MT work. This gives me hope for the future.
$$
u made 300 a week? That's more than I made there.
But no work, no pay. Nice ppl, they really are, some of the nicest in the business. Just can't communicate to save their lives and the recruiters are lying dogs.
I'd say if you're looking for part-time work, as in less than 20 hrs a week's worth of work, then this place is for you. Use them as ur backup. Because guaranteed that's all they're using you for.
Well if that's the case..what about OSI? (sm)
Everybody now knows and they have admitted to outsourcing overseas...so why are they allowed to post of that's the rule of the boards?
In case you still need to know. sm
x
in this case, it is just a Name and nothing else..sm
have seen her post before under that name. It does not mean she is necessarily a newbie or a wannabe anything. in my opinion.
this has been in my case,
however, it may not be the same for all hires. In fact, i've wondered if you are really talking about the same company with the sun-thu or tue-sat schedule. No such requirements were put on me. Is this MDI out of Maryland? All we were expected to schedule when I was hired was any 2 weekend days per month. There has been no daily/weekly line quota. The best bet, as always, is to talk to the recruiter and see what they say.
Not the case
No work is definitely not the case. I personally have not taken a day off in 3 weeks because of OT (not complaining, need to $ anyway), so lack of work is not a problem. There is no problem as far as I am concerned. If you have such a problem there, go somewhere that suits you better. Try MQ!
just in case...
They get in a bind?? I don't know, but I get so many emails wagging the finger about how flexing was okay yesterday when the work was low (meaning nonexistant for many of us), but today we are building up, so if you have time to make up, do it now! And then if 3 days on down the road a bonus comes up, you don't qualify because you don't have your hours/lines in. So confusing...and somewhat unreasonable when you are a real person with a real family and other comittments besides being chained to your desk for a paycheck!! And please do not bash, I have a total of 6 backup accounts.
Not the case at all.
Why is it when someone disagrees they are one of the chosen? I think this is absurd. I listened and do follow the rules and when I take my work I do it and then return for more .. the weekend is usually when those who do not follow rules throw their work back and the rules are set up specifically so that you know when you can go and pick any work that is available and not have to worry about preferred and selected and whatever. After 20+ years in this business I have learned that worrying about what everyone else is doing or has for work has never helped me one iota. Any service that does clinic work has a slow day and does it not make sense that if practices are closed on weekends that Monday is going to be a slow start with low work volume? And, for the record, I was promised nothing, asked for the rules and follow them and work my schedule and extra is asked. I do what is there for me and I don't think of myself as working only for certain dictators. I do it all. Some I like better than others but as an IC I understand how the work flow goes and pretty much it is the same from one place to the next.
Additionally, I have another part-time job to pick up the slack. A little planning on your part might be in order. At tax time you would be glad to find it to your favor not to have just one client as an IC.
If that's the case...
I would ask to have 1 account removed where there is no work and be put on an account that has work.
But, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to have more than 3 accounts.
The latter case, likely. It's also...sm
happened to me too many times to count. We are routed several jobs at once, usually 3 or so. I can usually see the next job(s) in the queue.... and sometimes know by the doc's number who the dictator is. But when I try to load the next job, all of a sudden it'll disappear and usually replaced by crap work, ESLs, etc. It usually occurs during certain shifts, if I need to work off of my regular shift. The lead MTs in my co. do the distributing of work but theyalso have to get their own lines in.... so you know they're not keeping the s - - - jobs, ESLs for themselves. I've decided that the next time this happens, I'll just contact the particular sup.MT and ask what's up? Where was my work? AND CC THE E-MAIL TO THEIR OWN SUPERVISOR. i'll bet it'll stop quick!
in this case
