Full timer here

I work as an Editor for them.  The platform couldn't be any simpler, honestly.  Good mixture on most of the accounts as far as ESL/other.   Growing like crazy!!  The bonuses are for real as well.  Very nice folks to work for and plenty plenty of work; in fact they are trying to get more MTs on board to be able to stop sending so much out.

Thanks old timer. How much can a part timer work either 8, 16 or 24 hours. If that carved in stone.
I dont quite understand that.
Anything and everything. Old timer. nm

Old Timer . .. but
I have only been transcribing psych reports for the past 14-plus years, being the lead transcriptionist/supervisor at a local mental health facility.  My department was terminated the end of August due to outsourcing for financial reasons.  I am currently collecting Unemployment, which I need to get ahead a little before I venture into an at-home Transcriptionist position due to the outsourcing being a total surprise.  I will be looking for employment in February/March 2008.  I have experience in Basic 4, and have been a transcriptionist for 18 years.  Does anyone know if MDI has psych accounts, and if they would be willing to hire and work with me to get back into Basic 4, as I know I will be rusty.  For that matter, do you know of any service that would be willing to work with me?  I am brushing up on BOS and have been working with practice tapes.  Any info would be appreciated!
Old timer
I'm with you. This business really stinks!! I hate it. I have never had so many jobs like I have since the business changed to pennies instead of hourly. You actually get paid more for hourly.
Somewhat MQ long timer

Been with MQ for five years now and only complaint I have is the split shift I work. Not a good schedule for me. Sort of early in the a.m. and then the late nights mess up my beauty sleep schedule.

no short timer here

I've been with the company going on two years.  The problems that were mentioned do come up.  I see those nice American names but sure don't ever get their dictations.  I've heard that if QA likes you, you will get the cream of the crop and never hear a word.  But if you're not in the clique that QA approves of you spend your days knee deep in ESL!

QA is nice when you first start, they give you feed back and are helpful.  But they have recently said that we need to do our own jobs and not depend on them ... I always thought figuring out the tough blanks was what they get paid for?

As far as the the managers they don't seem all that knowledgeable or accessible.  They put up a great front of we're a team and pat you on the your back while they assign you more crap.  I'm not sure most of them aren't anything more than clerks.

They do over-hire regularly and they don't hide that their work is overflow.  I think that these are reasons they have big turnaround in their MTs.  If you want their good benefits .... put up with the low line counts and learn a second language and join our team

Old timer here with no VR experience. SM
Hi all. Just wondering how difficult it is to transition to VR. Believe it or not, I have done absolutely no VR in my 20 some years in the MT profession. I am a proficient and knowledgeable MT who has done many, many specialties over the years for my own clients, other services, and hospitals. Unfortunately, I am clueless in the VR and platform arenas, but am hoping to pick up just a small amount of work in VR to gain some experience, as it seems we will all be going in this direction before long. I'm already aware of the cut in line pay for VR, but I also need a break on my hands and wrists. Any advice? Thanks
PART-TIMER
Well i have to disagree about stopping the Part-timers when the work is low. May be they should cut the full-time people down to part-time then. An IC is and IC no matter how many hours you do. Yes, this is the thing with FutureNet. They are still hiring because of new accounts but sometimes I do think they overhire or it is just the way the work comes in. I have worked for FN for over 2 years and never really had a problem with this until this year.
Old Timer I am begining to think you are MQ management for sure.
:
As an old-timer, my only thought on your situation is that you are a newbie

fresh out of school, and from what other new grads are posting, NO one is ever willing to hire them without years of experience. Personally, I would have stayed put and gleaned as much experience on as many accounts as I could have, cause you're not likely to find reputable companies willing to take new grads.  Lots of companies do, but they aren't reputable in that they take advantage of new grads because they can't get work anywhere else.  Very common in this business. MQ used to work with new grads, stopped for a while, and apparently are doing it again.  Remember as well, if this new company is just "using" you, you're gonna probably have a harder time on your next job, cause now you're a brand new grad who leaves jobs quickly.  Know what I mean?  Its best to get your foot in the door and stay there for a while when you're that new to this field.  Just my 2 cents! Good luck to you! I also remember an old saying from years back, "remember, all roads lead to MQ"! So many of us used to leave MQ for another company, only to have MQ own the same company a month or 2 later!

Yeah, the timer just starts ticking away while your trying to figure out how to do it quickly

without a foot pedals, and four reports at that. Oh well, guess it wasn't meant to be.

ek is full of it.
sorry ek but you have been outed.
you are full of it

OMG but you are full of yourself! sm
You know, we really want to be behind you cos I'm sure all of us would HATE to be in your friend's shoes, but you sure are alienating all of us with the way you respond to us.

Please remember where your anger should be directed -- toward the guilty party, not US.

And telling us what to post is really over the top. (Support the post or don't write anything please.) This is a public forum and we are all entitled to our own opinions, and just because you said to not comment on how the situation got to where it is now does NOT mean that we have to comply. If someone is curious, they have every right to ask. You may choose not to answer, however.
As far as I know they only pay if you have AT&T. I'm full-time also and don't get anything fo

Yes, thank you. I didn't have the full name.

JLG does for full time.
They do not for part time though.
consider the MT already has a full-time job, though

Keystrokes Full
I've interviewed with them, went through the process, only to find they have no openings for what I'm looking for at the moment.  I type the big 4 and ER.  Think they had clinic available, but not interested......
Full time
Thanks for the info!
Is that full or part?
No message
Can you tell me what they consider to be full-time? TIA nm

I would rather not give the full name...sm
of the company with the line counting issues, but they are out of Florida and start with an M.  There have been several posts lately about them running out of work and a major change in management.  Hopefully, that is enough information for you.
Use full name of owner. nm

I do VR full time...
The best platform by far is Escription which is very productive.  I was nervous about VR too but even with 50% pay per line I am making a lot more money overall.  I do have some typing but the older the account is the better the VR is.  Some notes i barely have to edit now.  If I straight type I average around 200 lph (acute care) but on VR I do well over 500+.  Escription learns indefinitely, so the longer the account has been there the better it is.  I try to keep my lines per hour on VR at least above 250 which even on a brand new account has never been an issue, so I have made out.  The typing break is great and I absolutely love it.  If you have more specific questions, feel free to email me.  (I am just an MT and not management for a company or anything like that.)
For full-time
line count is 11,000 per pay period and for PT it is 5000. They're pretty reasonable on QA, not nearly as bad as other companies.
positions are all full

full time
full time pay scale for IC 3000 lines 7.5 cpl, 6000 9 cpl anything above 6000 is 10 cpl.
I actually came full circle...
I'm back working with the same wonderful ladies who hired me back in 2002 when I first moved to Maine.  They are just a small local MTSO and they are absolutely the bees knees to work for...I couldn't be happier.  Well, I mean, unless I won powerball or something--then the grin would be really hard to smack off my face.
45K full time.
x
If and when you do go full time - please keep us
posted.  I will be interested to see if it continues to be easily 250 lines per hour.  Some companies take the good part timers and lure them into full time just to dump horrible dictators on them.  Let us know if this happens to you.
I think most recruiters are full of HOT AIR, and -
during the recruiting/testing/hiring process, they promise a heckuva lot more than the company ever actually delivers. There are already too many 'suits' lurking on this board, as it is.
Should have said this is a full-time
requirement. Part-time is much less.
wow...you definitely have your hands full...
I have a 2-year-old daughter at home with me while my 9-year-old son is in school...she is fairly good about playing by me, et cetera, so really I think I have it easy as far as she is concerned...but I am most productive while she is napping in the late morning...since yours are so little, I would say waking up before they get up in the morning to work, working during nap times and then possibly later on when their father gets home from work so he can help take them off your hands for a bit...good luck...it is hard work but it can be done...
Want a schedule? Then I want full ...sm

benefits, PTO, insurance .... the works.  Because that is what we're giving up as an IC in exchange for the freedom of a flexible schedule.

Sorry, MTSOs... you can't  keep having your cake and eating it, too....Need someone glued to their chairs? TOUGH!

Beg to differ full QA with The T co. SM

The T. will put you on full QA and KEEP YOU THERE (like they say in England, Until her majesty's pleasure becomes known.)

And there is a certain QA queen bee there that loves doing this, bec. it gives her something to do, and let mgmt. justify her job.  The MTs will be unfairly be put on QA for usually a minor, demographic issue, that is the client's responsibility in the first place, and which work is UNPAID WORK to begin with.  But, MTs will put up with it as long as they allow this kind of treatment.

What is the full link? nm
Thx
Full Circle
Was wondering if anyone has heard of this company or has worked there? Appreciate any info... TIA!
full circle
I have never heard of this company before their post. What puts up a flag to me is I believe this is the same Donna Heusner that worked with Debbie at eTranz that did not like to pay, but PLEASE do your own research to make sure.
Full Circle
Did not mean to sound nasty, just did not want anyone who did not know to confuse one with the other and get eTransPlus in any trouble.
This post is full of it. sm
Does SS fit everyone?  No!  Does it work for some? Yes!  If you want to get paid on time, they do.  If you want work? It is there.  There are mentors to help you but you can't ignore their phone calls if you need help.  Many do unfortunately and therefore it limits what the mentors can do.  In my OWN opinion, SS is a good company to work for.

A lot of foreign docs...
Full of info
I agree with you. I tried to deal with this issue directly with management and my liaison and received absolutely NO response. That is so un-MDI-like that I found it alarming. And I do not think people are indulging in wild speculation; they are trying to analyze a problem that could impact/impacting their lives. (I bet I am not the only one who wonders how mortages can get paid without adequate income.....)
24/7, Yes; Full Staffing, No.
I started my long-lived career in-house, initially as an LPN and then shifting to transcription. As a nurse, we did not work every weekend. We had a rotation schedule that provided adequate coverage and no one, except those that wanted to, was stuck working every weekend.

When I shifted to transcription in the same hospital, no one except the willing had to work every weekend (weekend coverage was the primary reason the hospital hired part-time). It was set up so that each Transcriptionist worked one weekend every 6 weeks. Despite the fact that it is open 24/7, not all departments are open 24/7. ORs are typically closed except for emergencies, ditto with radiology, clinical services, and the sundry labs (CV, EEG, etc.). There was no need for a full compliment of transcriptionists then, and forced weekend work is just MTSOs creating a need rather than fulfilling one.

Most of us do this job because of the convenience, and we do appreciate that. However, because of the new rules requiring weekends and 16 hours a day (including weekends) sitting at our desks to snag each report as it rolls in to make the same wage we were getting 20 years ago, it's losing a lot of that, and those that are willing to just shrug it off are part of the reason it has gotten so bad. And, since you don't walk in my shoes, don't tell us to get a new job. With the responsibilities some of us have added to the crapper today's economy is in, doing so is not quite the snap your rose-colored glasses tell you it is.
$900 = full time?

Can anyone explain how $900 equals full-time?  Does everyone have the same line rate so that it takes everyone the same amount of time and sweat to get to the $900?.  Thanks.

Full time
Excellent question! I never believed the $900 minimum for full time status was fair, and I still don't. No, we do not all make the same line rate. No, we do not all have straight typing jobs. No, we do not all do the same types of reports or work on the same accounts. There are just too many variables in my book to even think this is equitable. My workload is 95% VR with mostly DS, H&P, and consults. No straight-typing, line-gobbling, insert-happy OP notes to rack up the dollars here. If we take the above example to make minimum and translate to VR rates (60% of straight line rate) we come up with a minimum of approximately 21,950 lines of VR to keep full time status. Like she said, hopefully most folks are making over the minimum, maybe, maybe not. IF the work is steady on your primary account, it's doable. This hasn't been the case in months on my account. Another thing, don't let anyone tell you that with VR you can produce twice as many lines than straight typing, NOT! So, up goes the requirement for full time status on the VR accounts as far as line count.  Like I said, excellent question!  Nope, still don't agree with this $900 minimum. I'm not sure what the answer would be with all the variables, but it seems to me they could come up with something a bit more logical with all the great technology out there.
I am full time
I am full time, but I hope for the PT people that is not the case. Also, I wondered about the insurance for the PT people who have not had insurance for awhile. In order for any pre-existing conditions to be covered, you would have to be covered for 1 full year before going full-time with Transcend and getting their insurance. If you already have insurance then you don't have to wait any time before being fully covered. If you do not have insurance, then you will wait a 3-month waiting period and they 1 year before being covered for any pre-existing conditions. This is why I kept my Cobra insurance and was full-time with MDI.
The MTSOs have really been out in full
force on this board lately, attacking MTs for being upset about pay cuts, etc. It's been crazy around here lately!
I have it 2. Pay about $50 for full family coverage.
Yep, all maintenance is paid 100% - major stuff pays very well, too. I really like it, and have had it for years and years.  Nothing exciting, but good basic dental coverage. I like the $1000 a year per kid for braces! Sure helps with 3 in them!!  I think its just the normal probationary period til it starts - 3 months? Honestly don't remember reading anything about waiting a year for braces though.
