For radiology, Keystrokes is the best. I worked at MQ for 8 years and left in January. sm

Wish I had done it two years ago. Lots of work, easy accounts, great team leads! I am making less per report but more each check because of better account with more work available!

I left more than 2 years ago and went to Keystrokes...
I am way happier
I have worked for them for 4 years. There are always new radiology accounts. sm
They have grown a lot since I started and radiology seems to be what they grow the most in. I know that this month alone, 3 different radiology accounts have started and from what I hear, all are pretty good.
I worked for MQ for 12+ years, left in
6/07. Up until 1/07 it was a good place to work. But in 1/07 they started losing accounts and in 6/07 changed the incentive plan to the point I was losing $600 a month, not to mention the inflexibility of schedules, no communication, lack of raises (did not have one in 5 years), etc. I have never once regretted leaving especially after reading the MQ Board. If you just start there and did not go through the changes it might be okay, but if you have a choice to not go there.
Well, I left MQ after 8 years last summer to go to Keystrokes (sm)

so I would have to say Keystrokes.  I have plenty of work and love my account and Keystrokes gave me primarily what I asked for as far as what specialty I wanted to type. I work in Meditech but there are other platforms there, it just depends on your account. MedQuist was a great place to work for about the first 7 years.  In January 2006 they introduced what they called the Rewards Plan and after that my work dried up in a hurry and I lost a LOT of money by staying there. But there are still people at MQ who have plenty of work and like it there, the way I felt about it in the old days. Both places have positive qualities but I am happier now at Keystrokes. It also depends on what you are looking for as far as how large of a company you want to work for...MQ is a big national, KS is much smaller and more personalized.  Good Luck!

I worked there for 2 years and am glad I left
However, I have several friends that still work there, love it and probably will never leave. I personally choose not to work for a company that outsources overseas. Just my opinion though.
Been here about a month, but worked for them 3 years ago and never should have left.
I left the first time cuz DH (now my EX-DH) was less then cooperative to say the least.

I LOVE it here.
I wasn' screaming...I left MQ after 8 years and worked for MDI-MD
for 1 month before I finally went to where I am now.  I just asked if anyone else got theirs.  I got mine from MQ and now I have to wait for 2 more.  It was just a generalized question, not accusatory at all.  What a jerk!
I left Focus in January.
I have mixed feelings about them after looking back. I will say that I was very grateful to them for hiring me fresh out of school and giving me the opportunity to work in this field. As a newbie, it is very hard to find work as an MT.

When I first started with them (for about the 1st 4-6 months) everything was wonderful and I had no complaints at all. After that, however, things started to unravel. My supervisor stopped communicating with those of us on his team, workload plummeted, and everything started going to VR. I was having a very hard time keeping the bills paid because with all the VR, my paychecks were significantly less than they were before. Because it was a new system, the VR hadn't been trained yet, so each report pretty much had to be retyped from the very beginning...for half the pay rate. I have been gone since January, but I still get emails on almost a daily basis telling me there are X number of STAT reports, etc.

Anyhow, I have moved on now and work for a great company. Like I said, I am very appreciative of Focus for giving me the opportunity fresh out of school, but I'm glad I am not with them anymore.

I'm sure there are people who could be with them for a very long time and be perfectly happy. I'm just not one of them.
Keystrokes does. I have worked on ortho only for them for 2 years. sm
I have my own docs and my supervisor is great. She leaves me alone to do my work and as long as I do it well and on time, she leaves me alone. I prefer this, so it is a great job for me. I average 14,000 lines a pay period and make 0.09 per line. I do use their insurance, which costs me $204 per month, but it's only me. So far, so good with the new insurance!

I'm not sure if they are hiring but it would be worth trying.
I worked for Keystrokes for a couple of years...
I was very happy with the company.  I didn't have a problem with them, just needed to take a leave for a while and ended up starting with another company a few months later.  It's been about a year and a half since I worked for them, but at that time there was plenty of work.  I had no problems with supervision.  I really don't have anything negative, but again it's been a while, so I don't know what the workload is like these days.  Hope that helps - good luck!
I worked for Keystrokes a few years back. There were some problems but was told they were working on
I had heard that before, too many times to count, so I left.

I came back 2 years ago and it was like night and day.

All of the old problems are gone. They blamed them on growing pains and never denied them. Instead they fixed them. They have my vote!
I have worked for them since January...
there is definitely plenty of work, they are VERY sweet people.  I recommend them!
Keystrokes has the best radiology accounts IMO. I have plenty of work and radiology only. nm
I make a good living and rarely run out of work. When I do, it is for a few minutes at a time and usually because the rads have not started early enough. No other complaints!
Keystrokes for radiology. They are the biggest for radiology out of all of the companies out there.
I have been there 2 years and have been very happy. I make a lot more money than when I worked for Edix/Spheris.
Has anyone ever left Keystrokes and gone back? I left a few months ago and realize that I made a

Keystrokes has a radiology division. They used to be radiology only but their sm
customers started referring other departments to them.

I know that they just got a bunch of new accounts!
For radiology, Keystrokes is the way to go. They seem to have the most radiology accounts. sm
I have been very, very busy since starting with them 19 months ago. No complaints at all other than one or two of the radiologists who speak at the speed of light and expect us to be able to transcribe what sounds to be a mouse on a treadmill!
This is January. It is always slow in January. Part of MT. sm

This is the normal situation during the holidays and January and then accounts usually pick back up.  It was that way when I worked in a hospital, that way when I had my own accounts and that way now that I work for a service.  It always picks up.

My husband and son are both in construction for the State of Illinois, working in concrete.  We know that they are always laid off for most of the winter, and we plan around it.  It is part of the job, just like it is in transcription.

Next year,  we're going to be smart about it.  We are both slow at this time of year so we are planning a vacation somewhere warm.  We'll spend on vacation what we'll save on our heating bills, not really but will save something, and on gas in our cars.

In the next few months, these same people will complain that they have too much work and no time to do anything.

I worked for a temp agency for 3 years..LOVED it. Just worked. No counts, no hassels, GREAT pay..
No benefits at the time.  I even learned pathology while temping (8 months on that assigment).  I loved the variety, the ability to say I'm not available such and such time.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I didn't need benefits.
Keystrokes Radiology

Wow!  What a web site!  New to me as I have not begun working from home yet.   Hey, Listen .... I am very excited to be taking on a new Radiology Transcription position with Keystrokes in the near future.  I'd love to be prepared for the job and ready to kick out as many reports as possible on my first day of work.  I have received the USB foot control, but am not yet set up to work.  However, if there's anyone out there that could give me some "preparedness pointers"  PRIOR to my first day of work, I'd sure appreciate it.  (Currently still working in a hospital setting).  Thank you kindly!

How does Keystrokes pay for radiology
reports, by the line or report?  If it is by the report, can you tell me if it is above or below $1.45?
Keystrokes/Radiology

Hello out there!  Can anyone provide any info on working for Keystrokes, Radiology Division?  Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Keystrokes radiology
Can or would anyone tell me the average line rate (or however they pay) for radiology at Keystrokes?  Thanks
Keystrokes radiology?
Hi everyone.  I am looking for a position as radiology MT and have heard good things about Keystrokes.  One thing that was a problem at my old job was running out of work.  Is this ever a problem at Keystrokes typing radiology?  Any input would be appreciated.
To anyone who does radiology for Keystrokes (sm)

Do they pay by report or line for rad?  Are there steady rad accounts where you don't run out of work often?  If you don't want to reply here, please e-mail me, and if anyone responds by e-mailing me, please let me know that you did send me an e-mail.  For some reason, the last 2 replies I got from posters on here, I didn't receive the e-mail so I'm trying a different e-mail address to see if I get replies at that address.  TIA.

For radiology, your best bet is Keystrokes. nm

Keystrokes Radiology, new kid on the block

Hello to my fellow Keystrokes Radiology Transcriptionists!  I just got hired by Keystrokes and really feel that I got blessed to have gotten on with this company although I have no misgivings about the hard work that lies ahead.  I will begin training next week.  I do have long-term experience which is hospital and clinic based, but I am sure that there are many tricks of the trade that at-home transcriptionists use to build speed that I am not familiar with.    I received a "Boomerang and Trans/Net USB Foot Control Adapter" from Keystrokes.  If you are familiar with this equipment, can you tell me a little bit about it, and in addition, which shorthand or shortcut speed typing software will work with this equipment.  I would love your advice and guidance with respect to how I can set myself up in the best way possible to "keep up with the big boys!"   Some day, I'll be there for "the new kid" just as I am asking for your assistance now.  I have a full office set up, but have yet to purchase the necessary software I'll need to make my job run more efficiently.  I also have a library of medical books, but rather than list them, if you would let me know of any absolute necessities you think I should have on my book shelf, I'd really appreciate your letting me know.  I thank you in advance for your helpful hints.  Jayne, from Port Townsend, Washington.  P.S.  Do I even need to purchase a shorthand software program?  Perhaps Keystrokes provides that?  I'll be getting installed the first part of next week.  Thanks again!

Keystrokes is the best I have found for Radiology. nm

about Keystrokes. Do they have a lot of radiology? Do they pay on time? SM

Do they offer direct deposit?  How often are you paid?  How about benefits?  Anyone who can shed some light on this?  Oh, is there plenty of radiology work and how flexible are they?

Keystrokes is the best I have found for radiology. nm
nm
For radiology, you should contact Keystrokes or MQ. sm
Most of the other companies have very few radiology accounts and most are overflow.  I tried several before coming to Keystrokes, and I finally have enough radiology work to keep me busy and pay my bills!
Keystrokes radiology question
Could someone at Keystrokes share the minimum number of radiology reports required to be full-time there?  Thanks.
Keystrokes/medquist radiology
I am looking for a new position as a rad transcriptionist.  Does anyone work rad on Keystrokes or medquist.  What are minimum production requirements?  Are they easy to meet?  Do they let MT's go that fail to meet them?
Keystrokes - Not Enough Radiology Work
I too thought Keystrokes would be my salvation when I read all the great posts about it, and accepted an offer in September.  But my radiology accounts dried up, and even though I have been begging for work, I have not been offered anything steady or stable.  Yes, everyone there is as nice as can be, paychecks (such as they are) are on-time, but from the time I get up until I go to bed I am lucky if I have a half-dozen reports.  My first/primary account went voice before I even started it. I asked for a backup and they gave me clinic notes - I only do radiology, I have 13 years of radiology.  I asked for another backup and had one for less than a month before it went voice.  During that month there were more transcriptionists than available dial-in lines, so couldn't get in to work half the time.  Now I've been given an account that I'm only allowed to work on weekend afternoons.  I continue to ask them to find me an account.  I absolutely cannot believe I am begging for work and earning nothing.  I have a family counting on me, I can't go on like this.  I am absolutely devastated.  CONSIDER VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU GO TO KEYSTROKES.
I'm looking too, and I have 20 years in Radiology
:)
Keystrokes for Radiology. Not sure about acute care. sm
I have been there 2 years, have plenty of work, make great money, have direct deposit and get left alone.  Perfect for me.

What companies besides Keystrokes hire radiology MTs? nm
x
X-Press or Keystrokes? Both offer radiology sm

but one is by the line (XP) and the other is by the report (KS).  Both do a lot of radiology.  Current and past employees of both can you answer these questions:

1.  Do you have enough work?

2.  Do you like the platform?

3.  Do you earn a decent living?

4.  What do you specifically like and/or dislike about each?

I am really torn here and need some honest, specific feedback, not the common they're great or stay away.  SOS!!

For Radiology, try Keystrokes. I know they are hiring on one of my accounts. sm
The hospital just hired KS to do their whole department. I think they will be doing their Med/Surg stuff too.
I asked my lead. She said that Keystrokes is 1/2 radiology, sm
The other half is split evenly between basic four/acute care, clinic and orthopedics. They also have cardiology and pathology, but very few accounts in those right now.
The best place for radiology is by far Keystrokes. There have a lot of rad accounts and sm
I know of a few more that are starting this week and the next few weeks. This would be a good time to check with them. I have worked pretty much everywhere before KS. I have been with them for 2 years now and have steady work, good pay and love my account! My backup accounts are good too but I never have time to work on them.
Information on Keystrokes Radiology Accounts

I would like to hear from anyone who WORKS at Keystrokes doing their radiology accounts and how it is going for them; i.e. pay, enough work, do you get paid per line/per report.  Thanks so much!

I went into a radiology dept. for a few years.
It was good for my self-esteem for one thing, got me up out of bed with the rest of the world, dressed nicely and out of the house with the morning traffic. Mingling with the masses was great also. Was surprised on how much info we can pick up just by chatting with whoever is beside us whereever we are. The office politics is what took the joy out of it for me. Favoritism, unfair distribution of work, etc plus the gossip behind each others back. I tried to keep to myself but some women simply insist on infiltrating your boundaries and if you refuse, are considered not a team member (being a team member is big in the work place these days; in my dept., it was more important that quality/quantity of work, reliability, ethics. I watched one woman get creamed during evaluations because she was a Debbie Downer, a personality trait that she could do nothing about.
I worked on site for many years. I've been doing this for 10 years... sm
I've worked on site, at home, for small MTSOs, for nationals, for hospitals. I've been paid per line, per minute, and per hour. I've been an MT and a QA. I have ALWAYS worked weekends and ALWAYS worked nights for the shift differential because MTs can't survive on 6 or 7 cents a line. At least I can't and I type 105 wpm.

I've BEEN dedicated from day 1, sister, so you are barking up the wrong tree.
Left Keystrokes for MDI-MD
I do not regret my decision. My experience with Keystrokes was not a good one.
I'm thinking about applying at Keystrokes for a radiology position.
Could anyone tell me if they pay per report, how much they start you with and if there are increases along the way. Have seen past post with different amounts and have seen a post in the archives stating 1.25 per report and 1.25 more for reports over 2 minutes long.
Radiology has advanced so much in the last few years even that it has changed a LOT.
s
I left MQ and went to Keystrokes...so far I am not disappointed..(sm)
I haven't run out of work and I love the account I'm on.  I think if my account did slow down there are plenty of others that are coming on board that I could be cross trained on. So far..so good!
Just left after 5 years...

Up until Jan 1, it was fine, although my line rate was low.   They had bonuses that made up for that.  Then came Jan 1.  They took away the bonuses, which halved my income.  They promised a raise in my line rate, but it always got lost or forgotten, until I finally got sick of asking about it and gave up.  Before Jan 1, I ran out of work twice in the entire 5 years I was there.  After Jan 1, I ran out at the very least twice a week.

If you do decide to work for them, make sure you get the line rate you want up front.  Once you are there, they never give raises.  Even when they promise them to you, it won't show up on your check, someone will have to check on it, and they will never get back to you.
