For a business owner, you sure have a lot of spare time!

But not everyone has extra time to spare consistently, even at their
Again, I don't work for Amphion, but I could never work somewhere that wanted consistent OT. I deliver high-quality, high-production 40 hours, and outside of that I still don't have enough hours in the day to devote to my non-MT life. Amphion would be a terrible match for me, but I'm glad there are others who can live up to the overtime demands.
P&G forced my sister to stop selling Mary Kay in her spare time...gotta SM!
This was years ago way before P&G even owned Revlon. It's not like my sister wore a white coat and created cosmetic formulas. She was a RECEPTIONIST!!! The Suits at P&G told her to make a choice because they didn't need an employee working for the competition...Give me a break!
BTW, the ONLY reason my sister even sold the MK was so she could get it 1/2 price.
Whatever you do on YOUR time is YOUR business!! (As long as no laws are being broken or ppl getting hurt)IMO
As a business owner
I have had people give notice and then NOT work their full shifts because they were leaving. Contracts can stipulate that you can be deducted pay for not fulfilling your contract.
Anyway, there are other methods to collect funds owed, if they are due.
I just do not feel that public character assassination is an appropriate manner to do so.
Walk a mile in my shoes!
LOLOL--business owner
Like I said, you must be her kid. And just for the record, I was not interviewing for the job! You don't listen. I am a business owner. So I don't need to be hired, nor am I 13. I am an honest business for 20 years trying to help MTs make a decision. If you don't take the warning, that is your choice.
I'm also a true IC; not a business owner
I subcontract for a very small business. I have one of my own accounts (so I am the contractor for that account), and I also subcontract for an online company.
Your comment: with the exception that I don't work for an MTSO who is making money off me while I'm doing all the work.
You are not doing all the work if you are not being the person that has to answer requests directly and collect money from that practice. As you should know, there are administrative tasks involved in maintaining your clients.
An MTSO will pay less because they need to make the money for doing the administrative tasks.
I am doing both. I have expected the online company to supply me with sample reports and also I was trained on their software, which is only fair since they want me to send things to them through their software, which I agreed to do in my contract. I have no quota, set schedule, or any of the such. I type when I want to do the work from a pool. To me, this arrangement is perfect. I can simply sit and type all online and am not worrying whether I'll get paid on time because it has never been a problem.
I guess the point I am making here is that when you are the contractor, you can use your system when setting up your clients. Even though I consider the online MTSO my client (I'm the subcontractor), I agreed to use their software, and I also was trained to do so.
To state to someone that an IC requires no training is just outrageous especially when that MTSO wants you to use their software, equipment, client specs, etc. If it were the other way around, then you would tell the MTSO what software you use and then you would require no training and could create your own client specs. The MTSO cannot have it both ways. It's one or the other.
JMO.
Isn't that the MTStars Administrator/owner's business?
nm
They snowballed you. The owner is a young man who inherited the business. sm
He has no transcription background, although that does not always matter.
Most of their accounts are Meditech. They are fairly small, with about 80 MT's.
No negative feedback on them so far, which is always a plus.
Owner is very ethical, pay always on time. sm
what else do you need to know, I will try to help.
They are a small company in Maine.
Owner is very nice, pay is always on time (more)
I personally didn't have an issue with Emdat, but I know there are others who really don't like it. The patient info is in the system, and all you do is pull it up. I think the accounts are primarily family practice clinics, so if you like that it may be a good match.
Pay is about average, I suppose, and the line requirements are easy enough to reach. Scheduling is very flexible.
Did I hit the high points? Good luck! KM
Great little company..I worked there for a short time, IC, and pay always on time, great owner too!
I had good dictators, they use FTP, and I had a 12-hour window to return the work.
The owner needs a personality transplant, but the checks are on time. nm

Old posts say the owner is nasty and they run out of work all the time. Don't like workaholic

Here is a copy of the owner's post the last time the help-wanted ad was listed;
I would like to comment on your posts, as it is my help-wanted ad you are discussing. I have attempted to put as many details into my ad as possible, in order to answer all possible questions anyone might have before applying. My ad is not meant to be overbearing, rude, or pushy, but I realize it might appear that way to others because of all of the fine details I have written into it. I have amended the ad many times over the years due to certain situations that have occured. The part about if you love animals is due to the fact that I had a Transcriptionist working with me, who later told me that she did not like animals. Since she did not like animals, it reflected in her work, which is probably because the work did not hold her interest.
I have read a lot of really vicious posts about myself and my company, none of which I feel are justified. I am sure I have hurt some feelings when returning test results and when informing others that they do not appear to be compatible with the current position, but I have always been diplomatic in my emails and polite when conducting phone interviews.
I would like to set the record straight and let everyone know that I do NOT send out real work, hoping someone will do my job for me. When I test someone, they are typing actual dictation files, but the reports have already been typed and returned to the clinic. When testing potential applicants, I only send out two small dictation files at the most (sometimes only one), and the person below is obviously confused, or is blatently lying.
Also, regardless of what some people might be saying/thinking, there are at least four new clinics that open each year. In the past six years, I have had five people leave their jobs voluntarily for their own personal reasons. My newest ad is posted because I have been short-handed for some time now due to all of the unexpected clinics thrown at me and because I recently had a transcriptionist pass away unexpectedly.
I personally take the time to train each new person, and I can only handle training one person at a time because I have many other duties during the day, such as invoicing, payroll, emails, phone calls, typing the work from my own assigned clinics, etc. It takes at least one month for each new person to feel comfortable enough to go on their own with the work, so I am constantly behind on getting all of the clinics covered. As soon as one transcriptionist is out of training, I post my help-wanted ad and start all over again. Believe me, I would like nothing more than to hire someone and put them on their own right away, which would make my life a lot easier! However, the vet group I type for is very picky, which I can only blame on myself because they are spoiled and accustomed to having things done a specific way.
I could write a book in trying to defend myself and my company name, but, unfortunately, I no longer have the time to chat with other transcriptionists like I used to do years ago. My main reason for posting a response is because I realize these posts will remain on the board for a very long time to come, and I am hoping potential applicants are not deterred from applying because of what has been posted at this site.
this happens in business ALL the time sm
For instance, the higher paid are at the top scale they lay off and start the ladder scale all over again. They do that with retirement buy/pay outs too.
This shouldnt be a surprise. The owner herself posts on this forum all the time when KS is attacked
sad but true
I, too, have been in this business a long time.
I think the hostility and anger is due to the changes in the industry.
Even if everyone were well paid and benefitted, the anger and disappointment would be there because of the changes going on.
Most hate to do speech recognition work. Many QA are not as good as they should be. Lots of new MTs without the experience are being brought in as the more experienced MTs are phasing out. Offshoring is here now (I don't expect it to ever go away).
Of course, these things all impact our pay, too, which causes lots of frustration and anger.
The changes our business has gone through are not over, in my opinion, and will never be over. Personally, I see that technology will become more widely used and we, as MTs, will have our roles completely revised. It will not be the same job in 2 years as it is today.
I also think we are seeing the cap on pay having already passed us.
JMHO
Oh, spare me the theatrics!
You have the power to change your work situation. You can make a phone call to be put on a different account. You can quit your job and find one with a platform and workload that suits you. In the meantime, don't begrudge management for what few little perks they may get. What kind of person are you to do that? I'm sure they worked hard for it. It's not like a day at a local spa even compares to the MT convention in Hawaii or whatever it was.
As for finding a lump, thank you, I've already had that happen this year on top of everything else I've been through. So thank you for mercilessly wishing it upon me. Your wish is granted. You know what it taught me? Life's too short to be miserable. Fix what you can and don't dwell on the rest of it. Put your stressors into perspective or you'll wind up sick from it. Or dead. I quit my lousy job to find something better. It's amazing how much better your entire life and outlook is when you take active steps to fix things that are not going right. You've got the power to do it.
I agree with the above poster. It is bad business to not pay your employees on time. I mean ....
after all, when was the last time you were able to tell your credit card companies, mortgage company etc.. hey, I am supposed to pay your bill on the 15th but it might be later than that, or may not at all. I mean GET REAL. Do these transcription companies not realize you have obligations too and you need to be paid on time. I think so...but they dont pay you..because they can. I would call them and them you want your check by Monday or you will take action, and once I had my check, SO LONG DEADBEATS. You deserve to be be paid.
'Buddy, can you spare a dime?' sm
Don't you mean, 'Buddy, can you spare 0.0975 cents?'
JK!
Odd way of doing business. Most places dont have time to play those games. They just get rid
of people and move on.
I'm in that boat too - got a spare life vest?
Do you feel better now? !! Business is business, most of it should be confidential. Why post on a

Trying to build his business? He's been in business over 15 years!!!!!! sm
I also had a hard time, nearly impossible actually, getting paid. The owner does this on the side; he is very involved with other things.
The email said the owner as she is the owner of the email software package. sm
We got the list from AHDI. If someone does not wish to be on our email list, there is a link to click on at the bottom of those for opting out. We immediately remove those that click the link.
We also have a few mailling going out. Same thing - if you opt out of the email program, we will remove you from all contact.
We need transcriptionists for many new accounts and have ads on here and other sites, as well as several magazines. We are going to need over 100 MTs in the next 3 months due to new accounts and more work on existing accounts!
If you don't know what is confidential, you have no business being in any business.
This is confidential information and should not be divulged. It is one of the biggest problems a co can have. If you have to ask...well I won't be able to explain it to you
Hmm, wonder what the owner will say
no flame, but I would not tolerate that kind of off loading in a public forum from someone on my management team. Please remember I was responding to horn tooting that was short on information and left an impression that huh, I could do better elsewhere in addition to feeling insulted at the lack of decent benefits. There was no mention of UC contribution, STD or LTD, employer paying part of the health insurance premiums.
I said what I said mostly to make the point. If you want to sell me, do a good job the first time or you sink yourself and I won't look at you twice. There was little in the original post to sway me in your favor and the Jeckle/Hyde posting afterwards warns me of good day/bad day tangents.
As I said, best of luck to your company.
Are you the owner of
Why not just post the email address of the 'administrator'. Are you just trying to draw traffic to your forums and away from the forums here.
Seems to me, if you are really seeking MTs you'd just post like the other companies do on the Job board.
it USED to mean owner (sm)
back when most MT services were little and there was a real owner. Now that there are so many huge multinationals with no owner to take personal responsibility for the service, it's sort of transmogrified to mean organization, but that's redundant.
Just take it as meaning a service. Once again, AAMT, worthless as ever, ruins the language.
no changes that i know of. Same owner.
x
and this is the new owner
My god you people are so gullable. That picture could have come from anyones kitchen!!!
How do you know? Are you the owner?
They are obviously losing something if there's no work. Have you been with them since they started or something? Do you know of every account MDI has or what? How can you make a blanket statement like that?
I can't believe people sit frustrated about no work and don't move on; that's just plain silly. There are tons of companies hiring; get on with it already! Come on show your stuff to a company that will appreciate you and not OVERHIRE!
Owner? sm
I thought someone named Tracy owned Net-Med?
Should be owner's...sorry. nm

A few posts on here say the owner is a mean one. nm

Owner is snarky.

As the owner of Omniscribe.... sm
I would like to come here and say that I have no idea who this individual is. She/he has never worked for me and my paychecks have NEVER been late. A company who does not pay their MTs would go under in no time flat and I am still going. Omniscribe is a very small company and I can count on one hand the number of MTs who have left here. Not one of them would come to a public forum to bash me or my company, so I'd be very curious to know who you are. I'm certain you have me and my company confused with some other place.
Oh, okay. I thought it was okay because the owner
people are saying DEROGATORY things about her. I was saying GOOD things and mine was deleted.
Is this really the owner of a company
Wow! You are soooooooooo ghetto and ignorant. I am speechless!
You said you spoke to the owner.
You are not credible.
owner, not organization.
Remember the Owner
I remember reading another board a few years back....maybe quite a few years...and I remember distinctly J. Weight's name. I know she was one of the most argumentative and flaming people out there. Stay away.
Why would you talk to owner?
Perhaps she is an account lead. That, or a buttkisser.
Why I spoke with the owner - sm
SHE called me, SHE hired me, SHE promised me a job at a certain rate, SHE gave me all kinds of excuses why the job never materialized and then I never heard from anyone again. Enough said.
I also spoke with the owner for the same
exact reasons. She called me, she hired me, she emailed me daily, she offered me account after account, which never materialized while I did crap work just waiting for her promises to be kept. Guess what? They never were!
Owner of a company
I agree with you. I would not want the responsility of owning a company or even managing. My dad was in management for 28 years. You are not there to make everyone happy and sometimes people have to be let go. If you cannot keep your end of the deal I would make you move on. Actually I would be a real hard a-- if I were a manager. A lot of it has to do with respect for each other. You need to appreciate what you have. Too many times these days everyone just wants a pay check regardless of anything else. Some people do not take pride in their work or anything else. Every thing is not hunky dorry every single day, either on our side or a manager/company owner's side. It is just not realistic.
The owner will encourage you to
talk to her current staff, etc., but that is definitely biased. An anonymous board like this is is a safer.
and........ the owner of this company
is subcontracting work out for Medware. Medware and herself are one in the same.
....starting with the owner! lol
x
Use full name of owner. nm
The owner does at least read here..
I had posted here complaining ile back that I couldn't get ahold of the recruiter who offered me a position and the owner of the company sent me a personal email to get in touch with her as they were moving offices and the recruiter was off part of that week.
You have got to be kidding. KS is a little too big for the owner to sm
bother coming in here and posting under other names. I used to see her name on posts, but it was years ago. I think they are very big now, and she probably has more important things to do than post on a board, much less use different names. There are over 300 MTs at Keystrokes. I would bet that only a handful post, but the positives are definitely from actual MTs. Wow. I am amazed at the things that people come up with. If there were not positives, they would not have employees. I have been there for 5 years, and so have most of the other KS MTs that I have gotten to know over the years.
