and give employee status
I also need emp PT status, because I don't want to worry about paying taxes myself quarterly (what a pain!)
Company Status

I work for AcesUp as a full-time transcriptionist.  I have found the management team to be easy to work with.  I have experienced above average accounts in terms of ESL dictators (very little), etc.  It has been a dream to work for them compared to other well recognized national companies.  You can work for this company and still have a life!!

or maybe it's really a good company. Give me a break. If a company isn't talked about sm
on here, good or bad, it's probably too small to matter and does not offer benefits or anything at all.
Actually, SE status, not IC, but yes, MDI-MD is a great company. nm

Best company there is for statutory status!

I've been there about 3 months and I love it.  Bayscribe was very easy to learn.  The people are fantastic.

Best company with higest cpl employee status
nm
You're describing p.r.n. status, not IC. You need to look for a company who hires sm
p.r.n. MTs.
I just took a big leap and applied for IC status with a company who just posted

a job on here today...HIP or Health Information Partners. I didn't find much in the archives about them but what I found was favorable. I have been employee status my whole life but with the new Medquist pay scales this year, my paychecks took a big nosedive. I think I am only going to apply to companies that have IC status even though I'm somewhat afraid of doing that. I just need bigger paychecks and more flexibility with scheduling and I'm hoping if I do get hired as an IC somewhere, I will learn to really like it and earn more money!!

Pros and cons with any company - it's a good fit for me, IC status, paychecks on time, most of th
time there is work, friendly staff.
I think it's an insult!
.
3 cents is an insult. nm
nm
Why do you insult me with that comment?

youre funny, if you only knew..................

huge insult!!

I agree!  This is such a huge insult to our profession.  I started out with Focus on Edit Script at .04 cpl also, and would recommend them to get a start.  The are other companies who pay a little more, but .04 is usually the norm.  Please, do not go any lower than this.  Focus is always hiring, as many people do start there and move on, but I still work for them part time and have never had a problem with them, despite the negatives I have read.

You certainly took every opportunity to insult everyone you could. nm

The entire ad is an insult - nm

Not that the amount isn't an insult or anything, but
the fact that you got anything more at ALL is pretty unusual, with the current state of affairs in MT. Wages have been steadily declining over the past 10-15 years, and many of us have been getting even further pay cuts recently.

I hear ya on the amount, though. .09 cpl might have been good in 1980, but this is 2009. Although lately, it feels more like 1930.
The biggest insult is...

when the MTSOs hire new, or just not very good, MTs for your account that have absolutely no clue what they are doing and produce horrible quality reports.  I wake up in the morning and go to work to see that almost all of the reports for my usual dictators have already been done, with all of them having been sent to QA with no less than 10 blanks in each report! I do not see how this is productive for anyone--not QA, not the dictators, and certainly not for me, the loyal MT who has taken the time to learn these docs and stay with this idiotic company for years. I could have done all of those reports (reports that used to be mine) with no blanks..GRRR...

Having multiple PT jobs may be an option for some, but there are those of out there that need benefits for our families.  I would love to just stick it to the MTSOs and leave them high and dry with their new overhires that can't even do the job, but I don't have that option until I can find a new full-time gig with bennies...something that I have been looking for now for quite a while but haven't been able to find.

Can you give the name of the company - sm
I am in the process of looking for a new job and really don't want to choose one that doesn't pay on time!

TIA!
And, why don't they give their company name?
They should be up front about it. It would save everyone a lot of time.
Agree..with IC status, equip. is your responsibility; employee status - you should SM
not have to pay out-of-pocket for use of their equipment. I would never work employee status for a company who required me to purchase or lease their equipment. The only thing I would find acceptable is to have a small security deposit taken out of paycheck when starting with a company. This will protect the company from those few who might abuse the equipment.
Anyone know of Escription companies that offer IC status. I do not want employee status but would
like to stick with the Escription platform at all possible.
Employee status w/benefits vs IC status??? Dilemna enclosed

I am caught between a rock and a hard place and figure this is the place to get the best advice from those in the know.  I have been an IC for the past 5 years and love the flexibility but was interested in a job with benefits.  I started a new job about a month ago with good pay (2 lph more than I was making) and benefits......very happy with company but as an employee, obviously have a schedule.  I am working both jobs currently and starting to burn out.  On the new job, I am struggling to get the 1200 lines per day required but on my old.... I can easily get 150-400 lph depending on the dictator but again, it is IC and less lph than the new job.  Obviously, the platform is different and not paid for template headers/footers wheras the old one, I am paid for those.  Now to my question.  Is it just me?  Is it because I really enjoyed the freedom of ic status and therfore seem to be struggling?   Anyone else experienced this before?  Tempted to go back told job and lose benefits/more pay because in the end, maybe it works out be the same pay because of amount of time I spend getting the job done?   Not sure if this makes sense but hoping you can all offer some advice!!  TIA

Wow, you're just looking to insult somebody, aren't you?
Just because I didn't like Medware compared to my present company means I'm easily distracted and have problems? Nice attitude you've got there. If people don't like what you like, they've got problems or are unhappy. OK, whatever.... Different strokes for different folks. Did you ever think that maybe we worked on different accounts so I really was inundated with useless emails from them? Did you ever stop to think that people don't all experience the same things from the same company? How would you know? But thank you for being so judgmental and superior to everyone who doesn't like Medware. Honestly, did you start this thread deliberately to pick an argument with anyone who dares to disagree with you? Sure sounds like it. By the way, my company doesn't offshore. They rock better!!!
the thing is, SOMEONE will work for that much, which is an insult to us all!
nm
Is that a gross line? Anything else is an insult!
Do the math. Could you not make more transcribing? I was paid $20 an hour and 4 cents a gross line at one point. Even that was lower than what I could make doing MT!
Adding insult to injury
My coffee cup came apart in the dishwater today.
8-9 cpl is an insult wage, even for employees.
because once you factor in your overhead, time spent dealing on the phone with clients, keeping books, etc., if you charge 8-9 cpl as an IC, you're working for just a couple of Rupees.
You need to give a reason. Not every company
is a good match for every MT and someone may have had a personality conflict or some such thing so then they say it is a bad company.  You need to list facts like they don't pay on time, their line counts are off, sound quality is terrible, etc.
Can you give us the first letter of the company's name.
nm
Can you give me any specifics on this company?
Could you give me any specifics on this company?  I would like to know more.  Thanks.
Does any company give raises?
nm
could you give initials of company? I have been done like this before and
might be the same company.  I FINALLY got paid
yes, MTStars says it is okay to give company name.
nm
you can, and should, give the company name on this board.
nm
again, it's okay and encouraged to give company name
nm
again, per moderator okay to give company name.
nm
7 cpl is an insult - no matter what hours you work.

I have been at Keystrokes a while and have to give kudos to what I think is the best company out the
not always great in the beginning and I left and came back a few years ago. I am so glad that I did. The changes have been wonderful. I think it is refreshing to see a company actually improve over time with growth instead of going downhill.

I agree with you!
Clever way to give-up a company name that doesn't

Company start with an "E"..give us a hint. If they are doing it to someone else too, then I&#
Throwing in the towel is one way of putting it. I've done this routine too many times.
Can you give me a hint as to which company? The same thing happens to me too and I am an IC. nm
xxx
it's okay to give company names, per moderator.
nm
Maybe the company you work for would give you an advance? sm

Depending upon where you work, how long you have been there, size of the company, etc., that might be a consideration.  Also, maybe other temporary work, like Kelly Girls (if they even have that anymore).  I know we used to have temps in our office that were paid every week.

The pawn shop idea might be a good one.  I think if you don't have the money in 30 days, you can just pay the interest or whatever.  You wouldn't lose the instruments.  If you are willing to part with someone, ebay and Craigslist can provide some quick cash.  Good luck to you.  I am my sole support, and I have been in tight situations before and know how scary that can be.  My heart goes out to you.

Work not taken-Give company a chance

I have been with Transcend for almost 6 years and while they are not a perfect company they are better than most.  There have been mergers in the past-I actually came from the other MDI (which was a much more laid back company).  As far as I've seen with past mergers you get to keep your work.  They don't take you off it and give it to someone else.  That makes no sense to have to train new MTs for your accts and you on something else.  I know you are unhappy that you have to make a change but give Transcend a chance.  They are a good company. Is it a good fit for everyone?  No, but you won't know until you give it a chance with an open mind.  And before the bashers get on and say I am management, I am not, just another in the trenches MT who has worked for other services in the past. As far as outsourcing, I know it is done but as far as I can tell it is not a lot.  I work on 2 different platforms and both have plenty of work and have had for quite a while now.

I mean, any info you can give me about this company would be greatly appreciated.
nm
Can you give us the name of the company and if it's clinic or acute care? Thx. nm
s
Can you give the initials of this company to save others some grief? nm
s
Then you need to be professional, give a company website than can be checked out sm
and let people apply there.  Why in the world would you expect people to get their personal info to you, if you are less than professional yourself.  I certainly would not, especially after your post here.
I've always thought verbatim is not only an insult to the doctor, but also to our profession. sm
We are supposed to medical language specialists with an excellent grasp of proper grammar and command of the English language. What do I know? I've only been doing MT for 25+ years. It completely befuddles me to be asked to type verbatim because I have probably typed for 2 doctors out of 100s who can form a proper sentence! Just my take on the verbatim thing.
How is turning you down for a position rude? Are they, or any other company, obligated to give you
No. As a recruiter, I am seeing this more and more. Maybe the hours you were available did not match what they needed. Maybe your equipment or speciality or background did not match. How is it rude not to hire someone? There would be no need for interviews if everyone was just hired because they applied. I did not understand most of this until I started recruiting. The company I work for is spoken well of on this board and then bashed at other times. I see a lot of people that think they are entitled to a position or a shift or a certain account. It is difficult to be on this side.
