In case you aren't aware of it, K-Force MTs travel all over the country. None of this information is first-hand, but I've worked with several MTs that were part of K-Force and am simply reporting what they have told me.
Apparently, they have a list of accounts and sometimes you are given a choice of several different assignments of varying lengths. These lengths can be extended at the discretion of the contractor and the MT as well.
Also, I believe you are given a stipend of about $75 per day for food and miscellaneous. Your lodging is also paid...BUT BE CAREFUL HERE.
Your expenses are paid with your paycheck. I worked with one MT from K-Force and unfortunately they had somehow messed up her paycheck and shorted her to such a degree that she could not afford to pay for the extended stay hotel room she was staying in. It took her numerous phone calls and begging and pleading with the manager of the Suites to allow her to stay (she showed him her paperwork and communcation to prove to him she was being on the level).
Also, and I cannot stress this enough, if you are taking an assignment where you are NOT familiar with the area, DO YOUR HOMEWORK ABOUT THE AREA.
One of the MTs I worked with had booked her hotel based on its website. She had chosen a beautiful hotel with lovely gardens, etc. The only problem was, which she could not have realized just from the hotel's website, that it was right in the middle of Crack Town and NO ONE in their right mind would even poke their heads outside of the doors after dark. She had strangers knocking on her door at all hours day and night trying to sell her drugs, the infamous crack hos loitering all around those beautiful gardens she had been so impressed with, and gun play after dark is the norm in that area.
When she confided to me her fear of where she was staying, I STRONGLY advised she consider relocating to the north side of town where several extended-stay hotels that were actually safe were located. She packed up and moved that night, but BE CAREFUL. You don't want to end up like she did, lol!
If you're deciding where to stay, please do a demographics search on that part of town as well regarding criminal activity, etc.
Other than that, they all seemed to love it and the freedom to pack up and go to different areas throughout the country, make new friends, and still have their house/apartment to go home to when the assignment was done.
Let us know what you decide. This woman (K) has been calling me repeatedly too after seeing my resume on monster, so I'm curious what transpires.
