Every account is different. The company is split into departments such as sm

In Reply to: On the ortho accounts, about how many SM - Possible new Keystroke employee
clinic, Basic 4, radiology, ortho, cardiology, ER. Each has different accounts and each account has different specs. I know this sounds vague but you would have to talk to the office because of the differences in TAT, ESLs, etc. For instance, my account is ortho and there are no ESLs on my account. I do two docs only but my friend is radiology and she has dozens of doctors and most of them on her account are ESL (I think she is paid higher).
For insurance, it is health and can be for family. The benefits are OK but I am happy because I have steady work. I would rather have steady work than benefits that can't be achieved.

This is because the IT departments at the hospitals can take a long time. sm
I know this is a topic that comes up in our meetings, too. They are trying to get this time to days instead of weeks on most accounts; one on of the three that I lead gets IDs in about 24 hours now. Whoo hoo, finally! What is bad is that while the new employee is waiting, we need the help. No one benefits.
To answer your other question, they may hire MTs for individual departments
like Renal Transplant, Orthopedic department, etc. They do not have hire for their MR or radiology department as those departments are outsourced.
You could probably get in a specialty practice.
I know Rothmann Institute hires on-site MTs for their Hand Center - Orthopedic surgeons. They have an office in Center City, a satellite office in King of Prussia, and another one in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Hope this helps you!
Yes, they do allow split shifts,
like the poster below stated, it would still be specific time frame.
Can you split a shift?
Sorry about all of the questions. Have several full-time offers, just trying to make the right choice and need at least a little flexibility.
You can have a split schedule, but whatever
schedule you agree to work there is no flexibility within that schedule. You don't have a window of time to do your work. I find that being strict with my schedule actually gives me more time to do other things, but I still hate the rigidity and wished we had a 12-hour window. There are days where a lot of the accounts are practically doing the work as it comes in despite having a 24-hour TAT so it seems like there could be some flexibility allowed.
Split Tunnel
It's called split tunnelling and it's a setting on the VPN concentrator at the hospital. You'd need to speak with someone there (or ask your MTSO to) to allow split tunnelling. It's a security setting. Hope this helps.

You can split the 8 hours over Sat and Sun

Diskriter with let you do a split shift
nm
Split shifts Precyse
I work for Precyse and I believe that they do allow a split shift on some accounts. I would definitely call the recruiter and ask about it.
Transtech allows you to split your shift.

split shifts at Diskriter
Before I crossed over to the QA side, I used to split my shift at Diskriter. They have great insurance, but I'm not sure what would be considered affordable.
DIT and Proveros allow split shifts
However, I think Proveros was just bought out by Superior Global or merged with them. It won't hurt to check them out.
or she is doing all the posting because her personality split!!
woohoo!
WE COULD SPLIT (LEGAL) HAIRS ALL DAY ..
on this board. Are you up to it? But who do you REALLY think is going to come out ahead?
Not company, own account. nm

MDI-FL will let you work split-shift too I heard...nm

I had a friend who worked there on a split shift yet (sm)
I was told I could only work my shift hours, no more, no less. I guess it just depends on what kind of mood they are in the day you are hired.
I think it's a combination of both. Plus, the work gets done lickety-split and they -- sm
don't have to listen to doctors, floors, etc., whining about, Where's this report? JMHO. Heard from one of the clerks at the hospital I used to work -- reports are a mess, but they're getting done. Mgmt thinks quantity. Typical. I think a big part of the problem with MT today is that those in charge are clueless about MT itself and the dedication and skills that go along with it in a quality MT that can do quantity AND quality. They think that if you can type, you can transcribe.
If you check the archives it is pretty well split.
..
So are you saying that split shifts are not allowed any longer?
nm
Split shifts are allowed. You can dictate your
shift within a Tu-Sa, or Sun-Thurs schedule.
I have worked a split shift for many years, with
3 different companies. I've never had an issue with any company. I can't speak as to the insurance, but very few companies have affordable insurance. Unless you has pre-existing condition you most likely can do better on your own.
I have worked split shift for 3 years.
I work Sun-Thurs 6a-10a and 6p-10p, and I love it. I can't personally sit at a computer for 8 hours straight. I did graveyard shift like that once and hated it!!
It's just that I work for a company who had an account .... sm
that was partly taken over by Focus. That is to say, we lost part of that account to Focus. The platform used is Escription, but my company is not part of Focus.
Probably came out of company funded account.
dinky three
I think we are working for the same company on the same account.
I have a pillow-talking female dictator on my secondary account as well. Little to no work on my primary. It took 40 minutes to transcribe 36 lines with 16 blanks. E-mail me if you want.
I meant company not account
An account/company you are happy with, and the $$
I also live in a remote area. Can't make as much or have the flexibility elsewhere.
I like my company but I hate my account..nm
xx
been working a split shift for a month just to try to maybe get my lines in
Which is slowly draining the life from me. I can get their minimum NO problem at all if they provide steady work. However, it trickles in now and most of the time I have to wait between jobs for work. Also really tired of their dumb e-mails patting us on the back because everything is in TAT. Well, with not enough work and too many MTs, what do you expect?? I am heading for the way out pretty fast!
Yes, they do allow split shifts and they're very nice to work for
x
The scary part of that is you never know what account you will get when you go with a new company.
That is what worries me most right now leaving my job. I know my accounts. Companies are not always honest about what account you go on and if they have long time MTs they probably have the best stuff so you get what they dont want.
Sounds like you work for the company/account
I do FT. I'm 17 hours short this week. Fortunately there is plenty of work today, my day off. I won't be able to get any overtime but hopefully I'll be able to make up most of those 17 hours.
I worked on that account with a company other than Transcend.
It was the worst. I was glad to see it go. Sorry for whoever got it.
That doesn't mean it's not a problem account for the company (sm)
It's sometimes in the company's best interests to let an account go if they're too demanding or whatever. Hardly reason to start a panic like they're losing accounts.
Are there any companies that hire emp status and let you work sort of a split?
I would like to work 6 hours during the day while kids are in school and then about 2 hours in the evening. Are there companies that will allow this? Do they have affordable benefits?
I wish Logitech made a wireless ergonomic/split keyboard.

If your current company has an acute care account ask them
if you could try it, at least do a few files a day to see how you do. If you do H&Ps and DS they won't be as technical as Ops or consults. You should already be familiar with lots of meds and probably a lot of the diagnoses and labs, so there wouldn't be lots of looking stuff on. If the hospital is a teaching hospital forget all the above because then you will have lots more terminology than you have in clinic, lots of new labs/tests, etc.
Overall it is a good company. Your paycheck, however, depends on the account SM
you have, and your level. I am currently a level 8 with a high number of ESLs. I like Spheris the company though, but dislike my account.
Haysee, What happened to the account? Did the company lose it
or did they go back to bringing it all in house to the hospita?
your company takes overflow or has a primary account
I really have no idea if this applies to your current situation, but when I worked at a hospital and a large MTSO took our overflow, some of the girls I worked with had no qualms about leaving (or perhaps assigning, can't really remember now) the horrible doctors to the MTSO. We had a monitor that showed all the jobs waiting in queue, and they would (or could, anyway) go down the list assigning themselves the good ones, thereby leaving the bad ones to the MTSO. I worked radiology and everything was in-house for that, but I would watch the acute care ladies do this.
Which is the reason my company lost a major account.
The quality of the work was so poor they didn't renew the contract.
I know that DSG has their accounts split into DSG1 and DSG2 and I've noticed that the numbers for
both sides have been running a little low, may be due to the emphasis on tight turnaround time.
Paid for spaces depends on the account. Good company. nm

My company lost the account I had worked on for 5 years. Webmedx got the
account so I followed it. I have interviewed with about a dozen companies the last year and out of all of them the only ones I considered were Keystrokes and Webmedx.
The account is not bad but it has heavy Hispanic dictators. I worked on it for another company and
get used to it, it is a great account. If you really want a different account, just talk to them. They are really good about switching accounts for people. Call Becky in the office. She is the HIM coordinator now according to her email signature line. She is the best!
GOOD GRIEF -Love my company/account, Hate MedRite! Any help?
I love the company I work for, pay, schedule, account. It has it all. But they use MedRite. This is awful! Was this actually designed for an MT? This is complicated, SO much mouse-clicking, and so SLOOOW - I am boring myself to sleep. Typing is easy and quick but moving from report to report - Good Grief! Is there anyone who has used this? Are there any tips you could give me?
I miss YOG also! Good company, great line rate, and awesome account.

That's going to be nuts...I do ASR work too, plus work split shifts. We'll NEED a spread shee

That account in Texas was not a MQ account. They did not use DQS on that account until KS started.
They are moving 3 other accounts to DQS between now and January 1st. I asked. The MQ accounts they have gotten in the past did not go to DQS. I followed my old account, which is how I know, and it was Meditech. The account is still run by KS and is a big account too.
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
