Emdat, GearPlayer and Vista
They were the ones I bought it from and I called them first. They had no clue whatsoever what to do! I am finally able to work using all Emdat software on my new fast computer and I am really seeing a big difference. Thanks.
Gearplayer on E-bay with one hour to go and only $2.50!! SM for listing #
For those that may not know, Gearplayer is a program that plays voicefiles. The I just bought my Gearplayer in August and it was $90.00. Mine is the newer version 3.3.4. The one listed is a 2.6 version, but you can install the upgrades off the computer. It's in perfect condition. The listing number is below. Good luck!

Hired by Emdat or using Emdat software?
I was of the impression that Emdat was software, not a transcription company. Were you hired by Emdat to do transcription for Emdat customers? Or is the company for whom you work just using the Emdat software? Thank you.
try transriptiongear.com's tech support. They do gearplayer tech support whereever you bought yo

I actually like Vista
I have another brand new computer that I just bought a month ago that has Vista on it, and I actually like it quite a bit and haven't had any major problems with it. I just have to use XP on my work computer since my accounts aren't compatible with Vista yet.
I IC for FN & use Vista
but utilize Word 2002. I had a few issues with foreign font population, but got it resolved. Have you talked to folks in FN IT? They are pretty knowledgeable and willing to help. If 2003 is incompatible, you could probably get 2002 pretty cheaply.
i have XP and Vista
Bayscribed loaded onto XP/desktop and also on my Vista laptop. I work off both, have no problems with Vista at all.
Re: Vista
I run XP because I HATE Vista, so am afraid I cannot help you.
Thanks ... it will be awhile before I go to Vista anyway. nm

I was told to buy Vista. . .
when I was hired in July. It was after the computer tech worked with my on my Vista computer that they decided not to allow Vista. Now I'm out $1000 for all that new equipment as I came from a company that provided everything including program downloads, and I'm on my own once again, minus last week's pay I could have made with a more compatible program. Why would I have gone out of my way when I was only comfortable with XP to buy Vista? The person I spoke with suggested the kind of computer she has, which is a Compaq Presario, and she did recommend Vista. I have no experience with Vista, but I trusted her word.
Vista/Keystrokes
Whatever happened obviously there was a misunderstanding or lack of communication about what program to buy. I understand how you would be upest after spending money and now not having an account to work on. I would think Keystrokes could have made a suggestion of getting rid of the software that was not compatiable. Maybe you can call them back and see if there is some way this can be rectified. However, I would like to say people could be a little more kind to this person who obviously is very upset. It certainly doesn't hurt to show an ounce of compassion instead of irritation.
I never even heard of Vista before. . .
before I was hired at KS. Why would I buy it if I was only familiar with XP? Of course I can't even buy another new computer with warranty as they don't make XP anymore. Little did I know.
Keystrokes/Vista
All of these links do not surprise me about Vista/Keystrokes or any other company for that matter. Most companies IT people just do not have the expertise in computers/software/hardware. Call a computer tech to come into your house and see if he/she can get your software to work on your computer. Geek Squad does a good job. I know, hired them. They know many ways to fix problems on a computer that some of the companies IT people may just not know. Geek Squad's work is guaranteed, not a lot of money and they know what they are doing, have all the software disks with them to fix problems on your computer.
Or you can uninstall Windows Vista and buy a cheaper copy of Windows XP and install that on your computer. TigerDirect.com,and other web sites sell this software cheaper than Best Buy, etc.
Sometimes it is a computer expert outside of a transcription company, who has seen many problems, can fix it it no time.
A lot of computers years ago had problems with Windows XP and then that was fixed. Windows Vista is new, and like many products needs the bugs worked out of it before it will run properly with all software. Microsoft.com also has a list of programs that are compatible with Vista.
VISTA IS COMPATIBLE
I dont know who told you VISTA was not compatible but it most certainly is! I bought a new laptop with Vista and have been working without any problems whatsoever. If you're having a problem downloading it, it's because you must first sign in as, run as administrator...then it will download for you...
so are you working with Vista &

I think either Vista or XP work, I have XP and
it is fine... I have desktop, but often wish for laptop so I can sit outside, but again, you might want to contact the fellow who trains Bayscribe. He is really nice and you can e mail or call and he will answer those questions. He is so low key and helpful, I know he can help you. You download the Bayscribe onto your computer with the help of the fellow who trains you... It is so easy you don't even have to have him do it... and you are lucky to have a C-phone because you probably won't run out of work as much. I don't have a landline anymore (use cell) so I could not opt for that option. Good luck on training. I think people below are right about hanging in. Plus we are IC so having extra work elsewhere is okay, and that is how I am hanging in there. I have 1 other IC and just took another account on today, so when they are all busy this MT will be complaining about too much work...but that is better than broke, that is for sure! Good luck.. and although I got my 5 jobs to say hang in there may be premature, but my gut says it so that is what I am trusting, along with some of the veterans on here who said that too. Good luck to you :)
no prob's w/vista and mdi.

Vista compatibility
Depends what platform you use. Vista is compatible with DocQScribe and Keystrokes uses DocQScribe. Some companies use various platforms, depending on their clients' needs.
All Type Vista
Yes, All Type's platform works on Vista.
Extext and Vista
I was told that Dictaphone is no longer updating ExText because they are focusing on ExSpeech or whatever it is called from here on out.
I am in the same boat with Vista. My XP computer is so slow and it drives me crazy when my new Vista zooms... I would love it if ExText went to Vista so I hope I heard wrong.
Could be your browser. Or...Vista?
I actually bought a new computer to test for jobs (Dell with XP). Then I needed a new footpedal. Then, my AOL explorer was incompatible.
I am exhausted and broke but I did find a job. :)
I don't have Vista, which is so funny. I have never NOT
been able to get a voice file to play somewhere/somehow!! I think this is a sign, it's a no!
WRONG ABOUT VISTA
When I visited with KS I had Vista and was told 90% of the accounts were XP and I had to purchase a XP computer
XP, too many problems with vista.
No, but you can't have Vista on your machine to work for them. nm

Vista is not compatible with many programs out there yet. (sm)
From what I hear, Vista and MOST transcription platforms are not compatible.
That is what I would do. What is the advantage of Vista? There are so many problems with it.
There are wonderful instructions on the internet for repartitioning. I even did it before all the instructions were on the internet. Good luck!
DeVenture Health and Vista?
Can anyone tell me if Vista works with DeVenture's platform? Their had has computer requirements listed, but it doesn't mention anything about Vista... Thanks if you can help me
Just found out, Vista NOT compatible
just in case anybody else was wondering.
new computer -Windows Vista sm
Will I have trouble finding a company that can use this?? TIA
satellite/equipment/Vista
Does anyone know of any companies that still provide equipment, preferably including computer, and whose systems are compatible with satellite internet? Or at least ones where both satellite and Windows Vista can be used? Prefer employee status with benefits.
BTW, I know Precyse does..but used to work for them & quit due to lack of work.
Appreciate any input, thanks!

Does anyone use Vista and work at All Type?
Do you have any problems with it? I am wanting to buy a laptop with Vista and any info would be appreciated. Thanx.
Is the MDI platform compatible with Vista? nm

Does anyone have XP installed on their Vista computer?
I'm reading that it can be done from CD, which I have. If so, any trouble? TIA!!
BTW, ExpressScribe is incompatible with Vista...
I am passing up great jobs because of this....A new XP is on the way.
Huh? I'm using Express Scribe v4.3 with Vista - nm

Dictaphone ExText and Vista
I need your help. Does any one use ExText Client Software with Vista? Is this program not at all compatible with Vista? I am just about to take my laptop in and have Vista taken off and XP put on but wanted to make sure that I truly cannot use this program with Vista. Thanks for your help.
This book was written well before Vista came out. sm
So to say no may not be correct. I would email Cheryl and just ask her. HTH!
While most MTSOs aren't even Vista
You do realize that by working with large nationals, you are a sitting duck with these pay cuts and expensive programs. It's happening almost every week but to the larger companies, not necessarily the smaller ones.
There are jobs that were just posted stating they aren't even compatible with Vista. There are jobs that were just posted asking that you have a C-phone for goodness sakes.
Does anyone know if you can use Vista at Futurenet Technologies? nm

Ever been fired from Keystrokes because of Windows Vista?
I just spent $1000 on all new equipment including a new computer with Windows Vista which is what they recommended as their program is compatible with Vista. When the computer tech had to spend hours on my computer getting it to work with Vista, a certain administrator let me go because it wouldn't work for their account. I am in tears. I've never been fired from a job, especially for something that I was asked to do to work for them.
Vista will not work with Keystrokes accounts
They say right in their ads what operating systems they are compatible with, and they are not compatible with Vista yet. I asked this when I was first hired 6 months ago because I was going to put Vista on my work computer before I started, and they clearly stated that Vista will not work with any of their accounts yet, so I stuck to XP. You were not fired. Your system simply will not work on their accounts. All that you need to do is get a copy of XP somewhere and install that over Vista and you will be all set.
Does anyone know if ChartScript is compatible with Windows Vista?
I just ordered a new HP laptop with Windows Vista, and I was wondering if anyone knows if the ChartScript.net platform will run on Vista without any problems. I want to be able to take my laptop with me when I travel so that I can work on the road.
You can always delete Vista off and load XP with new computers (nm)

Bayscribe platform is compatible with Vista.
You just need to find a company that uses Bayscribe. There may be other platforms but I don't know of any.
I use my laptop with Vista on it. It works fine
for the account I do and the platform I'm on (DQS)
Question for Escriptionist. I need a new computer. All the new ones have Windows Vista. Is this
compatible with the EditScript platform. Seems I have read that some platforms are not compatible with the new Windows Vista, yet that is all I am finding when computer shopping.
