I average 1200-1400 lines per day with a national, and am only getting around 600-800 lines per day.
It's been this way since the day before Thanksgiving. I've been doing this for almost 30 years now, and more often than from Thanksgiving until the new year is the slowest time of the year. I have some months where I am swamped with up to 2000 lines per day. I stash that little extra money, and take advantage of a handful of extremely slow days this time of the year to actually cook dinner, decorate for Christmas, or do Christmas shopping. I actually anticipate this slow time every year and have grown to enjoy the breathing time. Any time I have attempted to pick up extra work with another company to supplement these slow times, the minute I get adjusted to the new accounts, etc. I have no time to finish all of my work because my full time job with national gets slammed again. Hang in there if you can, and hopefully your work will pick up significantly around New Years.
1100-1400 lines/day?...sm
Try getting your facts straight before you decide to shoot down a company. Keep on wandering and you may find some unlucky company who would love to have your attitude.
ProScript only 8 cpl for 1100-1400 lines a day, THEN you go to 8.5 cpl. nm
.
In 2005, they were offering 8 cpl up to 1400 lines a day. Over that,
s
even if you are only doing 1400 lines a day at 8 cents a line that is still $15 an hour...

How many jobs are you going to get outside of the home making $15 an hour, especially in this economy and most parts of the country?  That is only 175 lines an hour and most nationals expect at least 150 an hour, so that is not that much of a push.  If you do 200 lines an hour, or 1600 lines a day, look at the raise and that is $16 an hour.  This is also only making 8 cents a line, which by the time you are making over 1300 lines a day you probably are getting some sort of incentive, at least a lot of companies you do, and that would push this number up even more.

I used to be a graphic designer for many years and to this day pay for a good designer is only $12 to $14 an hour and you have to commute to the job, so how is it not realistic to make this type of money.  I do not see where your logic is and if you are making so bad then maybe it is time to re-look at your profession and find something that is more a fit to you and make the money you deserve.  I just do not see how making a minimum of $14 an hour is so unrealistic.  Geez.

Last year offering 8 cpl w/spcs on 1100+ lpd, 8.5 cpl for 1400+ lines. nm

Method of counting lines with ETrans Plus
I'm noticing something kind of fishy with the line counting method used by ETrans Plus out of Nashville after several weeks of working. What is strange is that I can load a template for a particular dictator with several lines of routine text and the line count doesn't adjust if I go from the top to the bottom but continues to count at the point of entry regardless of how many lines of text are between the top of the report  and where I jumped to in order to add new text. Has anybody with previous ETP employment experienced this?  Just curious and would like to be informed.
DQS doesn't cheat on lines (sm)
which you can easily verify by cut/pasting your report into Word or that MedPen word counting program (freeware) or something. DQS just doesn't pay for demographics, dates of admission/discharge, referring physician names, courtesy copies, and all the other stuff you're used to, even if you have to enter the data by hand, but who does anymore?

I know of 2 other companies that use DQS, both somewhere in the south. Accuscribe originally tested the program for the software company that came up with it, but many people have told me they don't pay for spaces and are otherwise "difficult." Dunno, never worked for them. Dictation Services Group is a very nice company, now part of VoiceWorks. www.dsg-inc.net. I did 1500 lines my second day with that company, only left because I had too many private accounts to do to give them enough time.

Instant Text's newest revision automatically imports DQS AutoCorrect glossaries!
keystrokes vs. lines doesn't really matter
If they stick to a standard 65 character line and include each keystroke as part of a line it won't make a difference. I made a mere 7.5 per line at a previous job (counted headers and footers) and made much better money because I was put on good accounts and kept on them. I've read some companies do not pay for spaces. My thoughts on that is fine, Iwouldn'ttypethem.

If it's not a trick line then counting by lines is okay.
60 min doesn't equal 600 lines imnsho..sm

I've done a whooollleee lot of research on this on my own transcription and I have never had 60 minutes equal less than at least 750 lines. Every time. So whoever first said that their 130 minutes is around 1800 to 1900 lines is a lot closer than the 60 minutes equals 600 lines, in my not so humble opinion.

And I don't even do MT, which I know has faster dictators than what I do. Think about how fast those docs go through their dictation trying to hurry and get it done. They are not speaking in a normal speaking voice, so heck it's possible 140 minutes could equal 2000 lines easy given that consideration.

But the one who said it is going to differ day to day is correct too unless you're typing the same dictator every day, then it's pretty standard. If you're using a platform where you can't count your own lines, is there a way to copy and paste into Word to get an idea for your normal daily dictation? Even DoquScribe has a way to copy into Word, so maybe you could do that.

Someone on this thread talked about 10 second dictations. If you could get your line count from something like that, then just multiply it times 360, then you have your line count for an hour's worth.

Anyway, just my two cents' worth. You're going to get different answers from everyone because everyone has different dictators. But I would still say at least 1700 lines for 140 minutes.

Doesn't FirstChoice pay gross lines? If so, then
6 or 7 cpl gross would be equivalent to about 8-9. Not very good, but could be worse.
Enterprise doesn't show lines

Which is a different issue entirely, IMO.  Ever since they put the counter on Enterprise, there has been the 0 from midnight to 1 am glitch.  My lines during that time ARE counted on the timeclock summary page, but they will never show on the on-screen counter.  Why?  Who knows.  Never once can they uprgrade Enterprise without a bunch of glitches, and will usually only fix them if there is a huge outcry from the MTs.  The programmers are a bunch of airheads, which has always made me nervous and unconfident our IT department (along with the dubious help I may or may not get from the help desk).  I often wonder if they have any criteria at all for hiring IT personnel, or just take anybody off the street...

Beyond Text doesn't work long enough to allow you to get any lines. nm
nm
But it doesn't address the problem of shorting of lines?
x
That doesn't explain black and white lines.

If not employed there we can't as a supervisor, but if the recruiter says black and white lines wouldn't that be just the black characters on a white page?  No spaces.

Thanks - doesn't look like you're too happy about it.
The suspense is killing me - not that there is much suspense left anyway, but I still want to read it.
You're still here. Doesn't say much for you and your life.
Have some trolling to do.

Whatever. Doesn't matter, we're all going to be

You're using her computer? Doesn't sound
If you truly are an IC - I would send her an invoice.  She will need your soc. sec. # or tax ID for reporting purposes - that's pretty standard.
Medware's IT dept. obviously doesn't work weekends. No lines count for 2 days. nm

You're right...that post doesn't make any sense...sm
How could high producers mess things up for the rest of us, when, in the past few weeks, we were offered incentives on most of the accounts to keep them in TAT by working extra??  And how could a responsible member of management even state something to that effect?  The only logical conclusion is that this particular poster wants to discourage high production (on his-/her OWN accord) in other MTs to keep the pickings greener for him-/herself.
If you're that upset about it, do what I did and work for a company that doesn't outsource

They're very strict with their lines sm

You'll get harrassing certified letters and nasty e-mails.  You're required to meet your lines by the 3rd payperiod.  They get really nasty to you too...they were all sugar sweet and helpful until I stood up for myself, and then their true colors came through.

Unless you're a very fast transcriptionist, it's almost impossible to make your lines.  I'm just an average transcriptionist.  I have always been able to make my lines at other places of employment, but never at TH.  They run out of work A LOT (read--nearly every single day) and have a butt-load of foreign doctors.  A really bad combination if you want to make your lines.

Some people love them, but I'm not one 'em!  I'm glad they're ancient history with me.  I work for a much better company now.

You're forgetting to add on the bonus 11K lines earns.
It makes the difference. BTW, the higher the production, of course, the more the bonus, which is applied to all lines produced. I think they're entirely aware that better producers will be much happier with the bottom line than low producers.

Etrans
I have been at eTrans for 15 months now and I like it. You have to produce to get the good pay so I do not recommend it for part time because the rate is not good for that. They lack communication sometimes is a bad point and can get very irritating. They pretty much leave you alone and are flexible with your schedule, which for me is a plus. If you do adhere to your schedule you get extra to your line rate so it is pretty much your choice. I have been on a radiology account since August but did acute care before that. The account I had was pretty easy. I love the radiology account. They have good insurance with normal rate. I know some have the same insurance cheaper, but in the world today what we pay for our insurance it is pretty average. You do get net reimbursement and PTO. I am sure I forgot some things, but maybe I helped in the process.
etrans

I've gotten a job offer from eTransPlus but I just don't wanna jump into another fire and end up hating it.  How are they to work for?  I truly just wanna be left alone and allowed to type and not get bogged down in politics.

thanx in advance

eTrans Plus
Any feedbackon eTrans Plus???  Thanks!
anyone know about Etrans Plus?
Have any info on this company?  Is it a good place to work?  Stable work flow?
etrans
I worked for etrans for 6 1/2 years since the day the doors opened.  In the beginning they were awesome.  Over the years, they have turned to crap.  Me and other veteran employees were recently laid off for making too much money.  Then they denied our unemployment, got caught with that and then tried to deny our PTO, got in trouble for that.  They are losing more accounts then they are getting.  I have a job now where the owner actually cares about her employees.  Loyalty and dedication means nothing to Etrans.  They will hit you when you are down.  I have many references to back it up.
eTrans Plus...RUN
Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post my most recent experience in my hunt for a good place. eTrans-Plus is the company, located in Nashville TN. First of all they use DVI Voicewave which is a very old system which has not been improved upon in ages mixed with a virtual desktop which you have no control over to do your transcription in. They provide ShortHand software, but if you want to have what you're used to you're just out of luck. I also would like to comment that their HR person there is EXTREMELY out of order. They also have some of the highest insurance rates I've seen.

Welp, just needed to vent...Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
ETrans Plus
Can someone tell me what medical ETrans Plus offers and the requirements are to get them? TY
etrans
Does eTransPlus offshore?  Do they have ASR?
eTrans
I have been at eTransPlus for several months working on the ExText platform.  So far so good except for the QA person assigned who I find ill-prepared, unclear, defensive, and has no interest in carrying on a 2-way conversation.  Get past her and everything else seems to be fine ...so far.  I have learned, however, that these companies are often not what they appear at the beginning so I hesitate to give a rave review with my 4 months of experience.  Can't speak to other platforms.  This one is wonderfully easy.
eTrans
I work for Etrans and feel the tiered pay is very unfair. The quality of work is the only thing that should matter when it comes to compensation. There have been days (almost a week) at a time when work was low and I had my pay cut to 6 cents a line for the entire pay period. Also, while I was waiting for training to be set up on a new account, which they forgot to schedule, I sat for a whole week with no work, my pay was cut. This has made me ineligible for benefits also. There are many reason a line count can occasionally drop temporarily. Why should I have not only less work but at a lessor rate?

They have no problem calling me asking me to start work early or to work over when there is extra work. I don't get paid extra for that nor is there any overtime for working extra days. I don't know how this is legal.

I like eTrans and the people there are nice. They don't bug you a lot, but I still need to make a decent living which I am not. Again, I think the quality of work should matter more than quantity. For some of us, we can only type at a certain speed, and after 20 years transcribing, I think I have reached my peak, so this is it. I am not going to get any faster.

Thanks for letting me vent.
Etrans
I kept getting job offers from one of their recruiters thanking me for contacting them....which I never did. I thought that was weird.  I appreciate the work offers but have your information together before you contact me.
Etrans
Amanda...Just wondering...Were you able to collect unemployment after you quit Etrans? I've never been on unemployment, but I thought you would not be able to collect if you had quit a job....is that not right?
