Don't know how they pay but sm

He wants you to get a license to be a subcontractor.  Thinks he will get in trouble with the IRS if you don't get a license. 

What he wants is for you to be a subcontractor with a independent contractor license which would be a subcontractor license, according to him. 

Doesn't make sense to me, maybe it will to you. 

I don't think he knows what the difference is between him (contractor) and you (subcontractor) or how to do business with the IRS.
