Don't see it as a conflict
Work for the individual doctors was distinctly different from the work for the hospital itself. The doctors always went to the MR director if they were looking for someone to fill a vacancy, cover for vacation, etc., or they would wander into the transcription area and ask directly.
As noted, though, unless the physicians and their clinics are paid for by the hospital, it's no conflict. Ask yourself who does their clinic notes now. If it's not the hospital's transcription department, there's no conflict.
2 jobs conflict
It would be wonderful to only have 1 job but sometimes in this business you cannot make enough to pay the bills. I do however like the idea of only 1 job...is there a way to actually do that and get a good paycheck? I don't mean to sound naive, or pessimistic, but if you don't work for the same account through 2 vendors, is is truly a fireable offense? Again, your thoughts appreciated on this very interesting topic
Isn't that a conflict of interest? NM
nm
That would be a conflict of interests,
director to give you leads on doctors needing work, and also pursuing work from doctors at the hospital while you are an employee at the hospital. I worked in a hospital for many years and that sort of thing was strictly prohibited.
as far as needing certain hours that would conflict with IRS
but that is between the company and the worker.
I would agree with the conflict of interest..
I do wonder how many people actually get caught doing this. Our vendors do have people work for other hospitals to make sure they stay productive. I never thought about the situation until it happened. What is funny is that this 1 girl I knew worked as an employee with me, BUT also worked for 1 of the vendors and my boss knew about it. She doesn't work for the vendor anymore and she still works as an employee with us. That was the interesing part.
Not legal, more conflict of interest.... nm
nm
I don't see it as a conflict of interest. If you meet your
obligations to each company it isn't anyone's business what you do.
When you sign a contract with a company rarely is there a clause about not working for oneone else, only a noncomplete clause.
Now if you are using their equipment for the other company I see a major issue with that, maybe not illegal, but certainly not ethical. I
I use my own equipment, and there is no conflict of interest. sm
I would prefer to only work one full-time job, but there are things that I want (like a roof over my head and to pay the utilities - ha), and the only way I know how to get them is to work enough so that I can have them. My full-time job is acute care, and the PT jobs are clinic work, so it is nice change of pace for me ... at least as nice as still sitting all day and pounding a keyboard can be. The way the wages have gone down in this industry, it seems I have to work twice as hard to make half as much. I made more in 1983 than I do right now. Still ..... such is life. And when I want to have a little pity party about having to work so much, etc., I just think of those who do not even have a job or a place to stay, and I realize I should be grateful to be working at all.
How do you get to work for both. Spheris told me it was conflict for me to have another job.
Especially with a national company. They wouldn't even talk to me about why I should leave MQ for them as long as I worked for their competition. How did you swing both jobs. I know MQ doesn't have a problem with me taking another position but Spheris was anal about it.
Conflict of interest working for 2 nationals
Just a question - back in 1998, it was considered a conflict of interest to work for 2 nationals such as Edix and Medquist. From what I see, it does not appear to be that way now. Can someone shed some light on this? For those who work for nationals - do they know you work for their competition? No flaming please - just curious.
I don't think there would be any greater conflict concerns than there would be with any kind

Conflict of interest working for 2 companies?
Has anyone ever come across a company that makes you sign paperwork stating that you are not working for another company. I need a second part-time job, finally found one and while filling out the paperwork I came across this. I didn't tell them I was working for another company during the interview but also did not deny it. Should I give up the second or just not tell?
Has never done it--so doesnt know anything.nm

Nobody said they were. That doesnt make it right. I

TTS-Why doesnt this come up in the archives?
Maybe it's my search engine but whenever I put in TTS, TTD or anything abbreviated, nothing comes up. Anyhow, does anyone have any information on this company, TTS?
OMGosh, TRX who doesnt pay is advertising.
Be forewarned. They DO NOT pay.
Just hope your TL doesnt have initials MA.

My brain would look like an overdone fried egg if I do do VR for more than one day. At least when we do straight-typing MT, we're creating something - a medical document. VR is just robot-work, and adds to the concept that that's all we are, as well. Nonhuman, dispensible robots.
Doesnt it seem like there arent many companies hiring right now. nm

You said it's not TT..but the name does start with a T doesnt it. This sounds way too familiar.
And personally, I have about had it. They want you to submit your schedule but you never get to work it due to lack of work on your accounts so you have to bounce around, log off, come back later, etc.. It's funny how there's no work during the week but come the weekend when no one wants to work, then you can find some work if you want to work every weekend ....no thanks
It doesnt make sense to just keep job hopping
The reality is changing jobs doesn't necessarily create a better situation. There are new insurance deductibles to be met, learning curve and lost wages due to that, and then once you get settled in, the company may go a completely different direction. These companies are rapidly making changes as technology advances. Just because a company is currently paying 70% for VR doesn't mean that is what they will be doing tomorrow. Changing jobs is often a pain in the rear. I'm not jumping around anymore. I'm tired of it. It is stressful, and I have come to realize when you change jobs, you are just shifting problems around. My last job, I could not tolerate the crazy QA audits that demoralized and were a constant source of stress, mandatory OT, and just being nitpicked to death over senseless stuff. At least at TT I am not stressed in that way. I'll give them some time to figure things out. I don't think paying people half for VR is the answer, at least not in the system I work on (I have heard it is better on the other platform they use). I think they will come to realize this. They may have newbies lining up at the door to do VR for half pay, but that will bite them in the butt if that happens because the quality will drop. I have many, many years experience. I should be paid for my brain and paid well if they want their reports to reflect any kind of quality. I think TT will find balance eventually ... at least I am hoping. For now I am staying put.
That doesnt sound too slow to me.. I would probably be slower, I am tired and old too.
Wish it were just my fingers though.
Oh my gosh.. Do they realize they outsourced to someone who doesnt pay her employees, thus she cant
them apparently. How sad is that? I know when I worked for our local regional medical center here they had MQ do their outsourcing but the worst was when the hospital did not renew MQ's contract but they failed to tell their employees. They knew months in advance the date their contract ended but still didnt bothering telling the employees who kept trying to dial into the hospital's system only to find out their passwords didnt work anymore. I thought that was kind of bad on their part. I have never had any contact with MQ and did not know about them up to that point but that sounds pretty low to me and about par for these online companies. I am about burned out on the whole thing. So, is it possible that your local hospital is not renewing their contract with TTS?
You are fortunate. I hope you always have work and it stays that way and doesnt change.

Not yet but our office is being transferred there I think with out accounts. Doesnt sound good. Why
did you transfer from Foxboro. I wont stay there if they take me off my accounts. How is the quality with putting people on all these accounts. It is my understanding all the NE offices will be working out of Amherst fairly soon. What a fiasco that sounds like it will be. How long do you think this will last until all the good MTs move on if that office contines to do that.
Jesus doesnt post on this board. No point in asking Him any questions here.

Of course company doesnt feel compelled to share this info. Is there anyone there who would be
;P
There is no working out the bugs on bad sound. If it doesnt work you move on. My
accounts have problems but I put up with it, some people will, some wont.
Agree, lines are hard to get. I also think the sound quality doesnt help things. nm

Has anyone ever noticed how DQS picks up noise terribly in the background. Doesnt make my life any
easier trying to hear the dictator.
I suppose you have to write down the line count for every single document and it doesnt track them
for a total for the while day. That is what I was wondering.
Bummed!!! Apparently the MDI-FL side doesnt get incentives. It seems like the benefits/incentives
would apply to everyone. Oh well, wouldnt be the first time.
What does it matter what others do?
I don't believe you're an MTSO at all.
CPL DOES NOT MATTER
So well said. With a bad platform and missing demographics you never get to transcribing.
Not a matter of...
doable. It's a matter of the difficulty of your account!!!! Consider yourself very lucky to have gotten an easy account.
Why does it matter?
Why does it matter that it is MQ overflow as long as you have work??
does not matter...sm

Why does it matter?
Either take and use the advice or don't. You guys make us all look like a bunch of grumpy ol' hags. She simply gave some advice, she wasn't trying to insult anybody. No need for everyone to get defensive. If you are an experienced MT and know what you're doing with your resume, then chances are you're not putting Burger King on there....so she's obviously not talking about you. I wouldn't suggest anyone put their email address on there....spammers search the web and have bots that search the web just for that. Any email address they find....spam, spam, spam. Also, any spammer could send an email with an attachment saying it's a resume but it's actually a virus. They have to safeguard themselves too, and many times that means not opening attachments from senders they don't know/trust.
Does it really matter?
Seems like the certification would be a waste of money to me.
What does it matter...
Speech and straight type are totally individual opinions. There are so many different factors and I am trying to sort those out. It is not the difference between scared to try and how many others love it. I want facts, which never appear on this board. I want to hear from the people who have been doing straight type for at least 10+ years, no less. That is what I have been trying to say in my case...it does NOT mean I am ignorant, because I certainly am not, and it does NOT mean I can't face change, which I certainly have had to do over and over again in this industry. Haering some of the responses so far, it seems as though some think it is just like learning a new account, and that can at times be gruesome..but with the added cut in half of pay.... So give it a rest you speech presidents. This is an individual thing and all I am tring to find out is the true ratio of experienced who like it/not and inexperienced love it/not. So far, I am not sure. I am so confused right now, my brain is rattling and I think I just need to go watch Housewives of New York. I can dream of being rich eh?
sometimes it's not a matter of...
sometimes it's not a matter of typing slow. you should consider the fact that sometimes due to demos, ESLs, quality, etc, etc, it is just impossible to go any faster. I'm a pretty fast typist and a good MT, but on certain accounts, I struggle to make the LPH. Good for you that you make good money. Unfortunately it is not possible for all of us. Consider yourself lucky. ;)
truth in the matter
I know people who still work with Transhealth and they are just sticking with it until something better comes. They don't feel appreciated. When I worked with them, the mgmt team needed to practice their professional skills. Everyone has their right to post their opinion and that is what it is, an opinion like anyone else who posts positive/negative comments about the company or any other company. It is up to the person to make the best decision and all we can provide is our opinions regarding the matter.
Doesn't matter
They won't have the work anyway! They just want to keep EVERYBODY on standby constantly.
