Can I ask when that was? It doesn't sound like them and I have been there 2 years. sm
I know that they lost a few to VR in radiology but have replaced the accounts. One hospital did not even tell them until the day they moved to Powerscribe, which was horrible of the account, but KS took care of all of us. Might be worth revisiting them if you are looking.
Sometimes years of experience doesn't matter as much as what
I've seen MTs with 5-10 years of good exposure transcribe circles and beat the QA pants off MTs with 20 years experience simply because of the type of work and exposure they've experienced.

doesn't sound off to me
I ask for opinions on here all the time and am happy to share my experiences with different companies to anyone who asks including the current one.  It is hard to find good help and good companies that respect it.
Usually all QA comes from within, so that doesn't sound
right to start with.   Unless they hired a new recruiter very recently they don't have a man - maybe it is from the TransHealth side?
That doesn't sound too bad to me . . .
I pay $684 a month for myself and 2 children.  I just finally got my DH accepted as well and don't know the new premium yet . . . but I'm scared to death to see what it will be!  I'm sure we'll end up being over $1000 a month.  Health insurance stinks.
doesn't sound like an American sm
company to me. The ad is worded to differently.

Doesn't sound good
I did not know they outsourced to India. No wonder they are paying the Transcriptionist so darn cheap. People in India can live off making very low pay. I better look elsewhere. Thanks for your advice.
Doesn't sound crazy
Since you have been at the hospital in your area, try and pick up one or two doctors that have a small clinic or stand alone practices for your own account.  Then build from there.  That would help supplement what you make from the national.  There are still IM's, surgeons, derms and psychologists/psychiatrists that use tapes and need someone.   Tell them about your hospital experience and that will help.  I do 300 to 500 lines per hour since I have been doing my docs for so long.   Good luck.  Patti
Thanks!...Doesn't sound so good! lol n/m

Wow, it doesn't sound so great . . . LOL
I appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions, but I am very curious about the down time pay. I don't really want to work for them, I want down time pay. Unfortunately, due to a bad arm I had to give up about two-thirds of the work I had a year or so ago, and I have revamped my setup to reduce my pain so that I could keep working. Don't get me wrong, I do not mind working and would do any work that is available during the time I was required to be on, but mostly I wanted to know how much the pay is when you're not working but required to be on and, something I did not ask before, how they figure the time worked versus the time waiting for work. I assume the system keeps track of how long the transcribing takes you and when you are not working??? I know you said that it varies and you don't think they are hiring just so that they can pay down time, but I am still curious.

Thanks again!
Hmm..that doesn't sound good. Thx for sharing. NM

No, doesn't sound legal. Someone erred...
...on their part, and they should fix it. You might want to check with your State and see what statutes you can dig up to shake their tree if they don't realize their mistake and fix this. Very odd. Best of luck!
Doesn't sound like a brown nose to me...
but rather a very grateful employee. This board is very discouraging to me. A lot of whiners who are not good medical transcriptionists and then turn it around to make the company they worked for look bad. Actually, it can be quite entertaining when I am bored.
Doesn't sound like the Transtech I work for...NM

Thank you - that doesn't sound good. Continuing to look ......nm

I agree. Definitely called them. That doesn't sound right to me either.

Phew...! Doesn't sound good! sm msg

It sounds as if the owner loses her cool!  Not good!  Thanks!

If you truly are an IC - I would send her an invoice.  She will need your soc. sec. # or tax ID for reporting purposes - that's pretty standard.
What company offers this? Doesn't sound famililar. nm

Doesn't sound very American for starters. I think you know where this is headed. nm

I'm so sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound good. I hope you

That doesn't sound very encouraging, does it.? Will have to wait and see I guess :(

Cbay doesn't sound good. Glad I left
the Q when I did.  I really hashed over that decision, but I am so glad I did.  There will be a lot of people looking for work very soon.  I wouldn't wait around until all the good spots are filled.
Doesn't explain why the work has been so low for 6 months.
It only makes sense in the context of this week. Hope WX is not about to MDI us.
There about 3 months ago. QA drops you pretty fast and doesn't answer ?? promptly. nm

my experience over the last 3 months
Hiring process: Recruiter flexible when I asked for late, then days, then late shift - I was offered shift differential. They were willing to hire me for acute care when my most recent experience was radiology (but over 20 years acute prior to that).

Type of work/platform, etc: Software platform, very easy to learn/work with. Not sure about tech support (knock wood, have not needed) but they do not have 24 hour QA so questions on late shift, you email and wait til next day. They do have IM system. I would have preferred more contact to start but was told - if you don't hear anything, you are doing okay. I was given a secondary account simply by asking when work was low late night on primary. My accounts - low on ESLs.

Pay: Average rate, direct deposit - you send in computer generated invoice. Small discrepancy with training pay resolved quickly.

Overall, it was a good choice for me.
Ive been with them for 3+ years and have no sound problems. SM
Great company.  Pay is great.  Pay is on time everytime if not early.  Nice, helpful staff.  Great accounts.  Love them!!!
12 yrs experience, offered 8.5 cpl in the last 6 months. :( nm
s
for six months experience, one speciality sm
pay is good EXCEPT for not paying for headers, footers (if you actually type the info in). Empty lines are not paid obviously. A tab is a keystroke, should be paid. Spaces in between words are being paid and should. Not bad for 6 months. You will get there!
I agree! Have been saying for years the sound quality is bad.
p
Years ago, sound quality was HORRIBLE...sm
still in contact with a few MT friends there and nothing has changed.  I wonder why they always had such poor, muffled sound quality?
Been with them 3 years, not 3 months. sm
I have had a very good experience as an employee.  QA people are great, always willing to help.  Been there 3 years, and I haven't a clue whether accounts are overflow or not, so wondering how someone who has been there a few months is privy to this information???  I have enough work to keep me busy and meet requirements, occasional overtime, consistent bonuses.  I really get sick of seeing all these negative comments from short timers, so had to speak up, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Your experience doesn't speak for everyone..
I have worked with them for over three years, and have never had the problems you described. No, I'm not a brown noser and will not say anything positive that is not true. I have two accounts that I love, a great supervisor, and no one has ever said anything about me not making production. Of course, sometimes the work is slow - that is with all companies. When it is slow, I adjust my schedule and work when the work comes in. I do hope you have found peace elsewhere.
Offered pay for 6 months experience... any good?

I got offered a position to type some reports in a specialty I have been typing for 6 months.  I was offered 7cpl for 65 character line.  Does not pay for hard returns, tabs, empty lines, headers, footers are not paid.  Spaces between words are.

At my other position I was getting 6cpl including hard returns.

How do I figure out if this new offer is equal or better than what I already had?

Yes, I know neither are high paying.  I am new to the industry, only finished my course 7months ago.  BUT, this particular specialty is easy for me and I have very high marks with QA.

Any and all advise is welcome.  Thanks!

Sound legal advice obtained 2 years ago.

We wouldn't have moved forward without legal advice; crossing the T's and dotting the I's at this stage.  Non-profit; office space, products, legal help all donated.

7 years, 10 months and counting at -
:)
I have 8 years, was hired 6 months ago and it was the best sm
move I ever made. I am happy with lots of work, a good paycheck that is time and a great manager.

Maybe they did not have an opening or maybe your references did not check out. I know they checked because my old boss told me they did.

No raises in 2 Years 10 Months
Anyone want to guess which company?  Or are they all not doing reviews and/or giving raises?  Sure does detract from any motivation!
I worked for them two years ago for about 4 months
and they were always running out of work on the two accounts I had. Obviously, nothing has changed since. I had to pretty much sit at my computer 24/7 to get my lines and much of that was waiting for it.

The people were nice, which was truly a blessing. But, I could not make any money if the work just was not there. So, I had to move on.
I quit KS about 6 months ago. I have 22 years of

experience in acute care.  When they offered me a position they sent a letter stating 8 cpl regardless of experience.  After they saw the quality/quantity of my work they said I would get a raise, but never did.  Almost 2 years ago I was offered a position with KS (though declined) and they offered me 9.5 cpl.

I didn't not try to negotiate on the 8 cpl, though others have posted they did and were able to get more $$.  I don't know of anyone personally so can't say how valid the info is.

EMR has been around for years, Obama only a few months.
There's a Politics Board for drivel like this.
How's the sound quality lately? A few years ago posters were having a very tough time with it. Th

and just because you have been an MT for 20 to 30 years doesn't mean you are good at it...

But in my experience, offshore men do it more and lie about stuff that doesn't matter.

How many accts did you experience in 3 days? Been there for a few months and so far so good. I find
but compared to where I was the lines sure do add up, and I absolutely love my acct, supervisor, tech people and QA! All have been great!!
I've known the recruiter for 10+ years and that doesn't
She is one smart cookie and could run circles around most MTs and I've always enjoyed our conversations. In the face of some of the toughest adversities, her ability to stay upbeat has always amazed me.
If you're extremely lucky you get 9cp. Experience doesn't seem to count much anymore. nm

7.25 cpl - 12 years experience

With how many years of experience ?

I have 18 years of experience and yet
I got sent a letter telling me to reapply when I had more experience.

They would not tell me what I missed on their testing. I know I did not do that badly.

You can have them.
