that's who they recruit for and
possibly another company
Who do you recruit for?
If you don't mind sharing.
You recruit for what company? Why so shy?

They all post below, but not yet one of them will say what company they recruit for. What is sm
up with that?  Does anyone wonder?  LOL.  I sure do.
Synthescribe has taken to another board to recruit
One of their employees is all over another board recruiting and getting 100 bucks per referral.  Thats just pitiful.
Because recruiters get paid to recruit....SM
Would prefer to hear some opinions of those that have possibly already been there and done that.  Thanks for your input.  :)

recruiting?  You have been asked, but still do not answer.  Fraud?  I think so.  Most recruiters are frauds.  If you do indeed make that much, then from whom?  And what do the MTs make?
I recruit for a company that has had ups and downs on this board and have some insight.
I attended MTIA a few weeks back and spoke with other recruiters and some established MTSOs and some just starting to build their MTSOs. What I learned is that most companies are alike in many ways, and most want to improve. The common factor was often that they want to do more for their employees but get slapped in the face too often by MT's who do not work when they are supposed to, do not produce what they commit to and think that they are better than they actually are but cannot take criticism of any sort. There are a lot of MTSOs who do not offshore, but they are frustrated by MT's who want more and more and give less and less. It's a catch 22 for them too, so maybe it's time for everyone to step back and reevaluate.

As a recruiter, I sometimes get 100 resumes a week. Most do not even get past that first contact and here is why:

When I get a resume that has a typo in it, I do not even acknowledge it. I shred it. I have learned that if someone cannot be accurate on their first impression, they will not be later on. You'd be surprised how many resumes and cover letters are full of obvious typos.

If we have a help wanted ad that specifies 2 years of experience required, half the resumes will be from students or those with no experience. They can be very demanding and rude at times, which is no way to treat a potential employer.

If we have a specific ad for hours and/or days, about 40% of the responses are for something completely different.

We now have auto reply for resumes but will probably get rid of that in the near future. Many applicants take the auto-reply as a sign that they are being considered even if they are not, especially the often very pushy offshore applicants, even though our ads say no offshore applicants will be accepted.

Another thing that I see far too often is that some applicants, right up front, demand certain days and hours and pay, no matter what our ad says.

Finally, here is the biggest turn off for me: Failure to follow instructions. Our ads always say that we do not accept attachments, to paste resumes into email. However, there will be days when every single email I receive has an attachment. I have now set it up to send emails with attachments to spam, which automatically empties each night. Those that go into spam do not get an auto-response. That's the way I set it up and it works well. Why should I respond to each one that blatantly ignores instructions? Again, if someone cannot follow instructions when applying, they most likely will not once employed.

There are a lot of wonderful, experienced, hard-working MT's in the U.S. who follow instructions, keep their word and take pride in producing quality reports. It takes a while for us to get the great employees but we keep sorting through junk to get to them, just as they have to sort through companies to eliminate the bad ones.

I have recruited for 4 different companies over the last 10 years. While they can be very different in many ways, most are pretty decent and want to treat their employees well, but they are getting burned out by being burned over and over again.

MTIA opened my eyes. If we do not start working together, the U.S. companies will start sending everything offshore where the employees want and need the work. The offshore companies were out in force and they are looking for ways to improve, which is scary. They WANT to take over, and we are giving them a lot of opportunity.

Don't let anyone fool you. AHDI and the big-wigs from the big companies are VERY friendly with the offshore companies. Their work is getting better and their prices are better and U.S. only companies might be phased out because of this. We need to take back our industry or offshore companies and VR are going to take it from us.

Polish your skills, make sure that your resume is perfect and be persistant.

Same exact message a few weeks ago and poster is the manager trying to recruit.
Which is fine but you should really try to keep posting as the one person you are CMT-me. You make it appear that you have employees recommending you when in fact you are the one that is doing your own recruiting but you should not pose as another employee.
I find that people who refuse to say who they recruit for are frauds. Nonsense.

Did Keystrokes sell to Transcend? I thought Keystrokes was buying up companies sm
but I heard from another service owner that they sold out to Transcend. Anyone know if that happened?

Did Keystrokes sell to Transcend? I thought Keystrokes was buying sm

small companies but another service owner told me that she heard that Keystrokes sold to Transcend.  Is this true?

I posted this down below but meant to post it as a new thread.  Before I apply with them, I would like to know as I left Transcend a few months ago and do NOT want to get back into that mess.

Not only that, but I would MUCH rather work for Keystrokes than Spheris as Keystrokes doesn't

Only Keystrokes. Worked at MQ until I came to Keystrokes. Started at sm
Keystrokes PT, liked what I saw and experienced, gave notice to MQ and went FT. Have not look back since. I had previously worked at 2 hospitals, for MDI, Transcend and MRC until bought by MQ. I plan on retiring here as long as they stay as they are.
No, Not with Keystrokes, visiting friend and using her pc, she got job with Keystrokes
I forgot to change the Name. I do not think Keystrokes is hiring anymore now. Would like some info about Diskriter though.
Ditto, Keystrokes is a wonderful company with wonderful people! I love working for Keystrokes!
I am just not making enough money.  They are a great company though, just ask for a back up account.
Been with Keystrokes staying with Keystrokes

I was there for the promises and guess what Keystrokes is making good on those promises.

I get vacation time, 401K, and even AFLAC.  My pay is great, always on time as well as accurate.

I have my main account and have been given back up accounts for which I have been fully trained and am comfortable typing on.  I have great leads, great tech support and plenty of work.

Am I biased???  Yes I am biased.  I am grateful everyday that I was given the opportunity to work for Keystrokes and their team.  I am grateful that my company's owner is a fellow Transcriptionist that goes home at the end of the day and works like the rest of us so she knows what a hard job I have and I know that she is working to make things better for me because unlike other companies I have worked for she understands what it is I do.

Please accept my apologies that you were unhappy with Keystrokes and chose to move on before all of the promises came to fruition but don't begrudge those of us that stayed loyal and are now reaping the benefits of a GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT BENEFITS, LOTS OF WORK AND THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE ARE MANY MORE GREAT THINGS TO COME!

I just want to say Thank you Lee, Jeff, Becky, Karyn, Martha, Annette, Paul and everybody else in the office for all that you do.

Keystrokes does not go by keystrokes, we go by lines. sm
1200 lines per day comes out to 150 lines per hour. Most transcriptionists are able to do 200-250 lines per hour, so this is not unrealistic, nor is it unreasonable. The hospital that I used to work at prior to coming to Keystrokes had a minimum of 185 lines per hour. The service I worked for prior to Keystrokes had a minimum of 200 lines per hour.

I was hired by Keystrokes for clinic work back at the first of June, worked 1 week, and then the account was lost--no real explanation for the reason.  I've been trying unsuccessfully to find out when or if I'll be put on another account since then (over a month now).  Has anyone else had this experience?

I went with Keystrokes because of the mostly positive comments from this board and others.  I don't want to badmouth anyone, but these actions seem to uncharacteristic of them, and the lack of communication is really taking its toll on me--why wouldn't they let me know something?!! I understand most of their accounts are radiology, and there may be problems placing me on another clinic account, but I need to know something!

Thanks for any insight--

There has been NO response to emails or calls. Left messages, but no response. Finally gave up. May or may not hear from them again....only time will tell.
How many keystrokes did
you average in an 8-hour day?? I was told I have to do a minumum of 60,000. I've never been paid by the keystroke before. Don't know if I want to be, either...
Keystrokes....sm
You have too much work because the people you hire never get to start working for you...never hear back from anyone after hiring!
Keystrokes - sm
I was not hired by Becky or Karen but by Lee herself...and I have also called and emailed numerous times with no response. Apparently this is the NEW hiring procedure..and I KNOW I was hired, have copies of all my paperwork that I faxed in, and I have programs on my PC. How do you explain that one?
Keystrokes ...sm
Been there, did that...nada, zip, zero, zilch...guess I should take the hint, huh?
Keystrokes
That is what Lee is best at....promises that never materialize. Becky is great....it's everyone else that stinks.
RE: Keystrokes
I AGREE WITH YOU KEYSTROKES QA...
Keystrokes
Been there, done that also. No thanks. You become nasty when you're treated that way.

Keystrokes
Vacation. Is that the excuse they're using? Do you actually know this person who is on vacation or do you just believe what you're told? Right, teamwork. You haven't got a clue.
Keystrokes here for me!

Keystrokes for me too! nm

My advise is don't quit your job until you actually START working for them....you may not hear from them again and be out of a job....happened to me, and this is not a lie. I was hired, gave notice at my job, left, and never heard from Keystrokes again. Had to find another job. So, before you celebrate your good fortune...be verrrry, verrry careful.
Keystrokes - sm
I am not the same poster as above, and my experience with Keystrokes was getting hired, quiting my job, getting the programs put on my PC and NEVER hearing back from them again. DO NOT quit your present job if you take one with them until you are up and running and are SURE you have a job and like it. The negative posts you read were all from different people with basically the same BAD experiences with this company. History repeats itself.
To Kim from Keystrokes

Hi Kim,

I understand your frustration with all the negative heckling that goes on on this board and your need to want to clarify who you are with your real name.  BUT, I seriously would not post your telephone number, just to justify who you are to a bunch of strangers calling you Lee.  It is way to easy for anyone to locate somebody with a phone number these days, 411.com, google, etc.  You just do not know who surfs ANY site on the net these days and that is a safety risk.

Case in point, my dear niece is trying to adopt and posted her number & area on an adoption board of all places, for anyone to call with info on a certain agency....it took the police who caught the creep who had stalked her, first by phone, then in person, to figure out where he got the info.  He told them that he just wanted to "help these poor women to be able to conceive the baby they wanted" take that any way you want but believe me, from the calls she got, it was purely sick.

Just an FYI about safety on the internet. Not worth your own to justify to a bunch of hecklers.

Keystrokes
It's getting hired the first time that's the trick....
Keystrokes
will allow you to do this.  You can quit for the day after you meet your quota.
BTW, they log all your keystrokes too...
and have some castor oil too cuz you're full of crap.
Keystrokes
Looking for any info on Keystrokes?   Thanks!!!!
Keystrokes...
Just wanted to let MTs know about a really great company - Keystrokes. I had decided not to accept a position with them and am staying with MQ, but recently received a very nice email from the president of KS, Lee. I think it is a very refreshing and neat thing when the president of a company emails an MT personally - it tells me a lot about this company. They are truly one of the good guys in the MT world - and I would highly recommend them to anyone who feels like a number or not appreciated at your current company. If things do not work out for me at MQ next year - I know where I'll be going.

Just wanted to let you guys know there really ARE decent companies out there who appreciate their employees even in this day and age - and a big thumbs up to Lee at Keystrokes for taking the time out of her very busy day to write me.

This company is really becoming a force to be reckoned with and I just wanted to give them a big pat on the back! :)
With keystrokes, you have to have
a Lanier Voicewriter or a c-phone.  Some of us don't make that kind of money to afford all that equipment and then keep DSL or cable going too.  Thanks, but no thanks.
Keystrokes.
Doesn't $1.10 per report seem on the low side?
Keystrokes
I would say they are a growing company and could do things better, but they have come along in my years with them, but maybe down the road they will pay some of the health insurance, or internet (both of which are expensive as you know). I do mind the insurance not being paid a portion by the employer, but don't need it right now. Yes, the money is good. The team leaders are good. The only problem is that sometimes they are late getting direct deposit in, which can cause problems, but they seem to be correcting that also now. Would I take a job somewhere else if I needed more benefits, etc? YES I would, but who would not if offered a job with better benefits, more money, etc. Give it a try you might just like working for them. They could do things better, but what company cannot do things better. I have never found a perfect company have you all? Good luck with your decision. Software platform is very easy to learn, no one week of training, etc.
Keystrokes - sm
I find it very interesting that any time there is a negative post about Keystrokes, immediately the KS Management/MTs jump down the poster's throat, and are quite nasty about it, all the while supposedly defending THEIR company. I get the impression that people who work for Keystrokes are very touchy and cannot take any negative comments with a grain of salt. It would seem they are very grumpy and unhappy in some way to treat negative posters that way. Gives the impression that your job may not be all you say it is, or you all have unhappy home lives. After reading the attitudes of people who already work there, I guess it's best not to apply after all. I'd be afraid how I would be treated after hiring. Lots of PMS at this place.
Keystrokes
It's so nice to read that someone finally gets it.
Keystrokes
Be very glad this happened to you.
Keystrokes...
They used to have some problems but are now quite a good company - not too big, not too small. They even send Christmas cards!
Keystrokes
Only cares about managers...not transcribers
Keystrokes
I've been working for Keystrokes for about 2 months.  They went over and above board to help me get settled in, even put me on a different account when technical issues came up, just to make sure I had a job.  I have had none of the bad experiences I'm reading about here.  I feel fortunate to be working for them.  No communication problems either.
