Do their last names begin with P and M. I think they should throw them out before everyone quits.

Why do you hope everyone quits?
I wish you luck, but do not understand why you hope everyone else quits too.

Until OUR government quits making it so lucratime tax wise to outsource...
these companies get great tax breaks to outsource. Google it, it will amaze you.
Throw out your opinions on my new job...sm
Some of you may have read the post from yesterday about just being hired but a little nervous now. Was supposed to start Sun. evening but Acct. Mgrs. & I.T. people are unreliable and don't have it together. So far they are all Indian, even tho they are all working in MA (they wouldn't lie I assume?) meaning I have a hard time communicating to begin with. Several e-mails w/no response, several times been told I'll be getting my User ID. Now its Weds. and it should have been sent to me by noon AGAIN (right about now). Many other disorganized, confusing factors on their part as well but I'll withhold the boring details. Would you stick it out? I do understand from some of you that it can often be hairy getting set up and going but I would assume the professional thing to do on any company's part is keep you informed and have a consistent contact and keep you up to date on the plan. These people say this, send something different, no reply when I'm supposed to have it....is this usually an indication of the things I'll deal with during employment there as well? I think I'm subconsciously looking for someone to say Get the heck out and drop 'em because I just have bad vibes now. Let's hear what you've got....thx :)
I'm about to throw in the towel
I can't pay the bills this way and it's been like this for well over a month. I'm beginning to seriously wonder if they have lost some accounts.
It's a wonderful place to work, but if there's no work to be done my creditors aren't really going to give a flying flip how nice they are.
*sigh*
throw Precyse in the list

I didn't say they offshore. They say they don't, but they throw
it up to us all the time that if we fall out of TAT we may have to look at India. With the holidays coming up too many people are wanting off and they may have to look to India. I don't like threats.
Why would they throw her resume in the trash if
She says they promised to call. With this being basically a virtual profession (not local) that's as bad as the hiring party being absent for the interview...... It looks like Keystrokes likes mean people who say mean things to other people on message boards. If you are the type they hire, then you can have it!! I'm not the OP either, but I think you have a crabby attitude. The OP has the right attitude in that she is holding someone accountable for their promise. It is kind of funny how their dirty laundry is on this board and how posters have no problem broadcasting the fact that the HR person was overwhelmed. Hello? Red flag????? I'd say so for sure......
I can think of more volatile things to throw at them
nmsg
I'm also ready to throw in the towel
and am counting the days (a little over two years) until I can retire. I work for a splendid company, but the industry in general is headed for the sewer.
Throw a VR back into the pool?
My company has stated if this were the case, you could be terminated. I do not like to straight type anymore so definitely would not want to throw away a VR report.
I'ts time to throw in the towel
Most of us have had good careers before choosing to work from home but the MTSO's don't bother to see us as individuals and instead dish out the same garbage to a 20-year veteran as they do to a 20-day newbie. I'm sick of the abuse and pay scale that is less than 20 years ago. Let them pay a newbie 7 cpl or send it to India. I don't care anymore. I'm going to start looking earnestly for a real job where I can be appreciated for who I am and will probably double my income overnight. If enough of us remember our own value maybe it will send a message to these greedy people on the other end of the obnoxious emails and instant messages.
Throw-in-the-Towel attitude! I am way past my
bedtime, but this was so worth it to read tonight. Just stumbled on this thread by accident. Again, I have made a huge leap of faith by leaving my company, and due to these very issues, and you have all made me feel so validated! I am so glad that you are all out here! And, yes, we all can make a difference. The tides are shifting. Right now I would compare it to a slack tide on the ocean - the time in between tides on the ocean, not high tide and not low tide - that time when the waters are totally still and just sort of waiting - waiting for the tide to shift again. Does that make sense? I really feel that our work leaving our country has been like an ebb tide, leaving us. Now, though, I can feel a change coming. I know that the clients are dissatisfied and restless. With this huge focus in our industry on this international/offshore issue, MT and client alike is becoming aware, and I know that clients are moving around, too. It is happening, and it will gain momentum. I know it. Truly, it is quality in the end, in that our international partners cannot compare with our quality document. I have seen enough personally for years to truly believe this. In India, for example, they have 3 or 4 levels of MTs, and each document does go thru all these levels. I think the women at home who transcribe make 1 or 2 cpl, then there is at least one other MT in the centre who has to then edit that document, and I think they make 2 cpl, and then it goes to either a 3rd editor, or straight to Indian QA in the centre. They make the most at 3 to 4 cpl. Often, the final document still has to come to the US QA, but even if it doesn't, you still have several MTs in the process, at 1 to 2 cpl each, and the final document is often useless. The cheap labor and profit margin is just not what everyone expected, me thinks. We just have to get the clients to READ the reports they are paying for. So, the accounts are slowly moving, the professional US MTs are moving, and we will all merge again. The swill can find its way and merge as well. But we can prevail. We will win over time, and I've got a lot of time left to try.
Is anyone else ready to throw in the towel on transcription?
After years of doing this work, and actually loving it; to now looking for another job with a US based company with a fair wage and hopefully not another sinking ship, is there anyone else that would JUMP at a good paying job outside transcription? A job that you know wouldn't be offshored somewhere else or pay less and less as time/experience goes by?
I have always believed if you worked hard, hard work would pay off. I need some hope here . . .
Does this guy's first name begin with a J?
If so, I know exactly what you are going through. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
don't know where to begin..
This all makes me so sad. I first stumbled across this site about a month ago, saw the Word Help thread and thought this was such a fabulous place, transcriptionists helping other transcriptionists. I've done this job for almost 29 years now, presently working part-time as casual staff at a local hospital and an IC for the most part from home. I have to say I love, love, love my job as a medical Transcriptionist - making sense out of nonsense, deciphering difficult dictators, playing detective searching for words. But since I have been coming here, I have just found this all so depressing. So I will continue to love what I do, but I won't be back here. To those who are fighting for our jobs and for respect we deserve, please continue, I wish you all the best.
Yes that was the question to begin with!
I was scheduled a time with the recruiter and the recruiter failed to follow through. That was the whole point of my post, why did the recruiter not call and was this they way they handled everything. I wasn't whining because I didn't hear back from them. That would have been fine not to hear from them, but I was responded to and asked to schedule a time to talk as they wanted to offer me a position.
And I would suggest we begin by having a SM
better education system. The school systems have gone downhill and other countries are ahead of us in math and science.
Does it begin with the letter
nm
I know. You begin to question everything (sm)
That to me is why using the personal normals is so important. When you have a similar procedure/ROS/PE/etc., right there in your report to compare as you transcribe, the dictation suddenly becomes more clear. That can be a real confidence booster. There are some very excellent MTs who have been gracious enough to share, so I say use them. :)
Who could begin to guess?
Spheris has production incentives but I couldn't even guess what rates a new employee might be offered. All I've heard is that it is lower now than it used to be.
Let the flaming begin....
I also have had nothing but a good experience with TT after almost 2 years. I have very, very rarely run out of work, and at most for an hour or so. The people in the office have been nothing but kind to me. I was not thrilled with VR, and stated that fact here. I also came back and stated that I was wrong, it just took some getting used to, and now I am back to my normal paycheck (it only took about 3 weeks or so). I realized at the time that you can keep trying to run from VR, but eventually it will catch up to you. I felt bad about what GP and others said they were experiencing with TT, but has not been my experience at all. I would still recommend them to anyone. The business has changed drastically, but for now I have a home, and I too will defend them. I am not saying others haven't had a different experience, just that mine has been pretty much all good.
To begin with, we can get the word out, beyond
After all, THEY are a major player in all the greed that has taken over medical transcription. The American public has quite a few bones to pick with healthcare, already. Might as well add our situation to the fracas, as well.
Bad doesn't even begin to describe it!
I'm all for giving anybody the benefit of the doubt, but if this is actually OSi doing this, they're stooping to the pits of desperation and I don't know who they think would ever trust them after such cheap tactics.
Does anyone know if we can begin 401K any time?
Or is it one of those things that have to be done in January and if you miss it, you wait another year...
Thanks. Have a call in and am waiting for their return phone call.
does this company begin with the letter O?
curious if it does. Sounds almost similar to an experience last year although never made it past the phone calls but made it seem like oh yeah, we have room to hire, and then never heard anything. She said she was working on finding me an account. yeah right.
I work for a company that does not begin with F
that is losing an account in about a month, and I have already started training on my secondary. It is a great company and I wouldn't dream of leaving it. It is highly regarded by everyone. Contact your supervisor. I would look at the boards here for info on your company and if most is good stick with it. If not, look elsewhere. Good luck.
The letter about the pay cut in ASR was mailed out and is to begin October 1. No question about it.
Didnt you get the letter.
MQ a good place to begin an MT career? I disagree.
I was relatively new to the MT world when I began working at MQ. I recall it as an experience that almost caused me to totally QUIT the MT profession. For one thing, the majority of dictators were horrendous. Add to that the fact that communication with supervisors, QA, etc., was almost nil. Then, I learned about the MT questions person, but I quickly became embarrassed and was afraid that he/she would get tired of me. Working at MQ was definitely a learning experience, but it is my opinion that it harmed me more than helping me. For one thing, I do not enjoy the experience of hypertension and migraine headaches, and I am sure that I would not enjoy the experience of a CVA. Obviously, I do not work for MQ any longer.
As it has already happened twice, I won't be surprised if I again receive a telephone call in which I am invited to reapply and work there again. The first time that they called, I told them to take my name off their list, or put my name on their DO NOT CALL list. But, they might call again. For this reason, I have placed my old trumpet next to the phone. A good blow of the trumpet in the caller's ear will be the only response they get from me. I understand that pushing the O button on a touch-tone phone will create a similar effect.
Horrible doesn't even begin to describe them. If you'll search
the archives you'll get more details and lots of people saying the same thing. You can also click on the post that says related messages (or something like that) in your original post and it will pull up other posts.
This company advertises ALL the time and it isn't because they are getting new accounts.
Can a Diskriter MT tell me when health benefits begin (90 days, 1st full month)?

Jewish high holy days begin at sundown tonight.

Only when names are used. If you do not
use names, the posts will not be deleted.
This must have been a long time ago because with HIPAA, no one can use someone else's ID and KS is very strict about that now, if not in the past.
The leads have been changed over the past few years and especially over the past few months and weeks.
It might be worth revisiting just to see the positive changes. I am not saying that KS is the right fit for everyone, but I will say that things are MUCH better organized over the past 3 months than EVER before and the new office, with having so many people in the same place (finally) will make that the norm not the exception.
I can't name names but this is
There must be a lot of problem in QA and I heard a rumor that 3 people are about to get fired. they wanted somebody in there in place before this happens so they will have a QA staff because they have a big backlog. I wasn't sure about it because they kind of come and go so I was offered the extra line rates for now to motivate me to learn my newbie program and take the step to teach QA
Those 2 names
Probably the same 2 from the other company
seems to me I see the same names
I always see every day and communicate with regularly with the same MTs - - group looks to be over 100 now where is used to be only about 50 - - they are growing and that's why they need MORE MTs... new accounts like crazy coming on, I see the emails from the acct manager regarding new accounts starting up - - reason tells you thats why they need more MTs - I know I'm not working on any of the new accounts and see a growing list of MTs in the group emails weekly
I don't know particular names, but
that advertise they use an FTP site. Most FTP sites have you type in Word. Hope this helps a little. Not a platform lover here either.
No more names, please. (sm)
I have removed several replies to this thread that were naming 2 different people associated with this company.
Let's just leave the last names off and realize that the original poster is referring to the company Allstate and the owner of it.

They also use other names now since so many
I recently saw ads with another name and it was the same exact wording TransAm uses so they're now using other names to try to lure unsuspecting MTs into their web. Basically, a good rule of thumb is any company that advertises 100 of the same ad all over the place, states you can make a ton of money with no experience and they'll show you how, and wants you to work for free or pennies, it's a scam, and probably TranScam. lol
I would like to see names also, but
also think it is a crap shoot either way. You never really know if a company is the right fit for you until you actually work for them. It all depends on what a person is looking for, what accounts they get, their supervisor, etc. For instance, there are a lot of negative posts about MQ, but I do very well there. Some companies that people rave about being good I have worked for and not been happy with, mostly due to lack of work or platform...crap shoot.
I don't want to name names...but...sm
it is a job posted on mtjobs.com.....company out of california.
I don't think so..unless she has different business names. nm

They had people's NAMES in them, a no-no.
I do not know of ML&M or any of those names but Jamie.

Ubiqus goes by many different names - and
they also offshore their work. In fact, they have lost quite a few clients in the past three months because of the quality of the work that is being returned. I work with their sales guy, as well as transcribe for them. But I DEFINITELY do not rely on them to be my bread and butter. I'd be the skinniest Transcriptionist in the world! They definitely do not pay well for pharmaceutical work
Funniest thing - the owners used to have this thing about converting everyone that worked onsite to go into scientology. I just humor them.
Is there some reason we can't come right out and name names?
Do we have to use cryptic abbreviations for these non-paying or slow-paying companies?
You can't post names
/
PS: No names needed.
No names needed, as I believe that is against board policy now, but just wanted to get a broad idea of how much per year deductable you pay if you work for a national service.
I would also ask about looking patient's names up and such.
z
Personal names. How would you like to see your own name
trashed on this forum? If not, maybe you shouldn't do it to this man, either.
You don't call names?
