I am not lying about the people in the OFFICE leaving. Maybe you have the same contacts, but I sure as heck didn't.

Don't Rush to Judgment
I don't know that your experience was necessarily representative of TTS in general or as a whole...I know I had no problem getting set up and even remarked to the IT person how painless it was...so maybe it was one of those sticky glitches that can happen now and then and really cause havoc..
as for the person asking you who you were...that is probably the new supervisor and I had started to have a neg reaction to her too - she has only been there a matter of maybe a few weeks and really had to hit the ground running - and I am just ornery and like to be left alone to do my work but she has turned out to be a real gem...and made some really positive changes already..
I am just adding my two cents because one bad day or one bad experience is not necessarily the final word, and I am very hard to please and very happy there..and it always so easy to bad mouth rather than trying to see both sides or simply just be fair..
Take a deep breath and think it all out for yourself..I'm sure you'll make the right decision..
Questioning my own judgment working for KS
I agree with this post completely.
That may be well and good, but she used poor judgment
with the verbiage used in her job ad post. While some may think it's funny, it's demoralizing to our industry and is not condoned by MTStars.
Call JACHO and make a complaint
As I posted earlier I have a friend who asked me to review his medical records. For his initial ER visit which was for a vasovagal episode, it was found that he had low heart rate so they scheduled him for an emergent pacemaker. He's 90. Anyway, as I was reading the ER report with lots of errors BTW (they went to VR 8 months earlier), I found that part of the ER report was on something called a T system in the ER and it wasn't sent to him on his initial request from med records. So I called med records and asked them why the ER course was on the T system and why it wasn't sent with the record. They didn't have an explanation and said they would forward the rest of the report to my friend. So here we have an ER report in 2 parts and one doesn't seem to get merged with the other. I wondered why JACHO allowed that to happen so I called them and they told me to file a complaint. Well, I will ask my friend if he wants to do that but I will strongly recommend that he does. Then we can point out all the mistakes that the editors at the hospital missed. That might make them sit up and take notice. At least I hope.
Make a phone call. Too important to leave to email. nm

Disgruntled?
Romey you sound very disgruntled. What happened to you at this company? As far as their way or the highway, what company have you worked for that lets you have it your way? Not trying to sound mean, but each company has their own rules, that's why we have a choice of what company/rules we want to follow. Are you saying you want to decide how you want to work for a company and exactly what you will/will not do for them? Weird...
Disgruntled?! I think not.
A little after the fact, I just saw your post tonight. So, in response, not all things work for all people. Also, thousands of foreign companies have a corporate office in the States so they can operate globally, pay US taxes, work American staff. Even though Focus has an office in Massachusetts, all their equipment and QA and account management is in India. I believe all that is state-side is like sales, recruiting and HR, probably accounting, etc., for the American workers. If the Massachusetts office closed Focus still would be able to operate on their own, they'd just have to get their own accounts (my guess on all this). It's a global partnership. So, here's my thoughts. There's a phrase from somewhere that holds true here, it goes like this: So many people can't be wrong. I'm sure many unsuspecting MTs tried Focus. I did 3 different times! I guess 3rd time was the charm. First two times really had a hard time making any lines though, but then got some of my own local work instead and resigned. The third time I was recruited though, then I made the commitment, this time I'll make it work, but alas it never did. My last go-around was the tie breaker. I really needed an income, they re-recruited me, I was happy to try again. Got reset up and was ready to start work on the startup date. At 6 a.m. I log in and there's no work, none at 8 a.m., 10, 12, 2, 4--nothing all day! That first day came and went without any work ever in my queue to download and type. Next day same thing. Third day same thing. I was in total shock! I could see the rent payment disappearing as the minutes ticked by. I went ahead and tried to get some answers, IM and phone calls to everyone I could, emailed both the recruiter and the guys in India. It took 3 days before somebody let me know that the account I was hired on for wasn't going live for another 3 weeks!
See, that's just a lot more than just complaining about them being in India or being a disgruntled MT. These are serious conditions that can truly (this is how you spell it) mess up your income. The recruiter misrepresented the startup schedule (come to find out she claimed she didn't know the status because India hadn't told her about this account start date). I agree that being in India doesn't seem to matter, nor does the Phillipines or China or anywhere else this stuff goes. The problem with Focus is the recruiters and the managers don't know what the other is doing. I think it's a perfect place if you can just go along with everything, but in my case I couldn't wait three weeks for work. I was offered some pool work while I waited for the major hiring account. I did my first five reports (that's all that's allowed per day during the 5-day trial period). Those reports were returned later to me from QA feedback and I was shocked to discover my original typing had been retyped--with errors. The feedback had those errors corrected and of course my qa and pay was docked because of them. (I know this is true because I saved my originals--why I don't know.)
That was it for me, I truly love the Escription platform but it's not worth it working for them. I've been an MT for 11 years, it's not a lack of skills (I work for myself currently, as well as one terrific online service). And this is totally an opinion of not so much a disgruntled MT, but one that was sincere about doing good work for good pay. In general, I don't think they are rude or evil. The one guy named I---c in India is the best. His new team not so hot. It's just that the different divisions are totally not on the same page, and then the mysterious re-typing done somewhere in the universe, which no one ever responded to my emails and IMs about that! I'm glad it's working out for you. Believe me, I'd be there today if it hadn't been for the above to reasons because of Escription. And, it is true they paid on time. Just sad though. They emailed me for months after I quit trying to woo me back yet again. I'm sure that blind email goes out to hundreds of former MTs who had tried it with them. Best of luck to you. This is way too long, not a bash, just kind of a sad commentary.
I'm an ex-employee and I'm not disgruntled.
This crap exploded after I left and I had kept in contact with people I knew when I worked there and I can assure you it's all true.
I think this is one of those disgruntled employees ......sm
Trying to start something. Anybody with any common sense can see that.
I am certainly not fooled.
obviously the same disgruntled employee from above
x
I'm not a disgruntled MT wanna-be. I'm
and she's a suspicious, condescending, controlling person. She doesn't like anyone she can't keep under thumb.
It's no different discussing her than discussing companies.
Go away if you don't like it, Laurie. We see your rose-colored glasses -- they have a fracture in the lenses, dear! LOL
Alot of BS probably from disgruntled ex
Running out of work? That is the biggest crock of **** I have ever heard. I am so busy right now I don't know in which direction to go. We have so many different hospitals that I don't know which one to do first. Most people that badmouth a company is usually because they could not cut the mustard and got canned in plain English. JLG is one of the top notch companies and one of the best I have ever worked for. They actually care about thier people. You don't find that very often. Anyone who says they ran out of work is just talking out of thier ***
Who is the disgruntled and bitter one here??
I'm honestly not trying to ruffle feathers, just trying to understand where all of the bitterness and pinned up anger comes from on this particular board. I'm a member of some very diverse forums where the topics range from taming naturally curly hair to finding the best vasectomy reversal surgeon. MT Stars is supposed to be a place where professionals can come, share resources, and build one another up. All some people ever seem to come here for is to tear others down. It's really sad to see such hateful, ugly remarks constantly being made at MTs just for asking a question. If you don't have anything positive or beneficial to bring to the board, why post at all? What do you gain by posting insults hidden by an alias??
Is it the isolation of working at home that causes so many otherwise intelligent people to lose the ability to interact in a civil manner? If I ever become as angry as some of the people I've seen here, I'd be making a career change.
Stepping off soapbox now and getting back to work.
Disgruntled employees
I have read on this board that people who post a bad thing about a company are disgruntled employees. A disgruntled employee would usually be one who has been fired, and no one who posts has been fired. Usually, they are employed and want advice on a new company or have quit, not been fired. Most of us know there are a lot of really bad transcription places out there. Once I saw someone say recruiters post here. Well, that might be true, who knows, but if they do and say fabulous things about their company, that just isn't fair. I hope that isn't happening.
not true; are you disgruntled?
nm
You must be disgruntled ex-employee if you cant
x
sounds like your disgruntled
your facts are screwed up Displaced
nothing is going offshore
there is plenty of work coming in and all US accounts
why are you the only one I see on this forum crying about not having a job?
That is incorrect, this is a disgruntled MT..nm
xx
there doesn't mean we are all disgruntled ex-employees ya know
DO NOT BELIEVE "BEWARE" - she obviously was a disgruntled transcriptionist - sm
I have been transcribing for four years for them. Have a large account, and only a couple of times in four years have I had a very slow period (maybe lasting a week or so) where the work was low - but as anyone would know, hospital admissions usually go down in the summertime, docs go on vacations, etc.
They do have a couple of accounts that the HOSPITAL is absolutely picky about, i.e. they want the commas and the periods and the hyphens where they belong and they want the report spelled CORRECTLY. But a hospital has EVERY RIGHT to expect that from a transcription vendor. Maybe "beware" was on one of these accounts and just doesn't know how to transcribe!!
There are disgruntled former employees at any company
if you do your work and do it well you'll be fine at Diskriter.
Your not a disgruntled JLGite. YOUR LUCKY TO BE GONE
I agree. they talk about everyone who is gay, looks fat, is ugly, too skinny, short or bald. Funny, they must not have mirrors. The worst day was when the lowest forms of toilet sludge came from MEdquist. Ruin one and screw up another. It was wonderful before these outsiders came from there. I have been there years and years and have knowledge of JLG and everyone in the company. I work there 7 days a week and trust me they are not what Connie says they are. So get off it. And stop brown-nosing medquist. So your not disgruntled. They will use everyone and when they have used themdry they will do to them what they did to you and 5 others this week. I dont need to know who you are but be happy your gone. I have to stay cause I have children. If I didnt, they would have kissed my left great toe and the right one years ago.
Sounds like disgruntled ex-employee to me!!!
I have never been chewed out but I have had issues discussed with me. Some people just cannot take constructive criticism.
Dear DE (disgruntled ex-employee) as per my
x
I'd have to agree with you. Yes, you get a few disgruntled workers who probably
aren't qualified to be doing this work and get reprimanded or just plain unhappy and like to complain, then think twice about their opinion on a company, but for God's sake when people tell you that they aren't not getting paid on time, correct, or AT ALL, why in the world would you consider even taking a job for them. I agree with the poster in that it does reach a level of stupidity and companies that have those kind of unethic and dishonest tactics just prey on stupid people who should have known better to begin with. I think everyone has a right to voice their opinion and experience, good or bad, and yes, some of it take with a grain of salt BUT if it involves your livelihood, a paycheck, then pay attention. I just don't get people either. Here's your sign
This person is just a disgruntled former employee...sm
I replyed to this message on the main board as well. This person fails to respond there as well. I have been with Medware for over 3 years and it is a GREAT company to work for. They have made some changes over the past 1-1/2 years, but the changes benefit the MTs, so I am VERY happy here...pay on time every time, great pay, good benefits, great management...etc. JMO!!
This person is a disgruntled former employee...sm
I replied to this on the main board as well. Medware is a GREAT place to work. I have been with them for over 3 years. There have been a lot of changes over the last 1-1/2 years but so far, it has benefited us MTs. I am still waiting for this person to say WHY also, but so far, nothing...
You sound very disgruntled. Difficult to be objective
You have your opinion.
I agree with the OP, though.
You sound disgruntled; no wonder you weren't promoted from within... sm
sounds like sour grapes. Since when does top management share the internal workings and all the goings on with employees?
Yes, call waiting works. I also have call forwarding from my home line
NM
You can call it greed, I call it feeling like
I am back in the 80s with the money I am pulling in. SS, retirement check and my paycheck, cha-ching. Not planning on taking it with me, never. Love to travel and have 4 places planned for this year. High maintenance lady here. Ta-Ta.
I doubt you will make enough money in 5 hours a week to make
nm
I make 4 cents a line, work part and make
over $500 a week on part.
Merry Merry for Disgruntled Employees
A few of the posters on this thread - obviously disgruntled employees gone from TTS - have been posting the same hate for
2-3 years now - at least - that I can recall. I am usually pretty patient with angry people - they all seem to have been hurt in some way - but I really feel like I want to say to the complainers about TTS in this thread: We have all one time or another been treated unfairly, been misunderstood, had things not work out. It's called life. The bitterness that seems to consume you, the hatred that fairly drips from every one of your posts - make me - and I am sure everyone else reading them - think if you have this kind of attitude, this kind of insatiable anger and neurotic need to have the last word - it is pretty apparent whatever happened to you at TTS - and I am sure other companies - was most likely due in large part to you. Being unteachable, stubborn, seeing yourself always as the one who was wronged - and who is always right - does not lend itself to success - anywhere. I am sure you have found this to be true in your life, not just your employment. For a lot of MTs I know cpl and the going rate is not the most important thing. Yes, it is important - and up there no doubt - but there are other things to value in a job, some of them you can't put a price on. I am very happy at TTS, not in management, and so are many others. It is clear you were not. Once again, it’s called life, it's not always fair, we all do things that need forgiving and have things happen to us that need to be forgiven. None of us is perfect, whatever label or job description we may have. My wish for you this Holiday, for all of 2009 - that you get over it, you move on, see yourself more clearly, and find someone who will remind you everyday of all the good there is in each of us -- and that 2009 will be the best year you have ever had.
Great post! I make 0.085 at Keystrokes and make more than at any sm
other company in the last 5 years. Why? Because there is always work for me. I love starting work each day, knowing that the company I work for appreciates me and has plenty of work. Transtech and Keystrokes sound very similar; those of us that work for either can count our blessings that we are not part of the cesspool or huge corporate mess that makes up the biggest few companies. We do not have to worry about our jobs getting sent overseas and we see a future in this business!!!
Yeah, but we don't make what docs make. nm
nm
But we don't even make what in-house make.
It would be different if we made the same as the in-house MTs. In a lot of cases, most of the people working in-house make much more including benefits than we do at home as full-time employees. That's where I think the unfairness comes in. The in-house employees don't all work every single weekend. Most of them rotate at a much higher salary and much better benefits. The MTs at home are expected to fill in for the in-house for less money, less benefits and give more and more back in the form of weekends and holidays. Most remote MTs only receive benefits contingent on production, and even then they're not nearly as good as in-house benefits. How is that equal in the healthcare team perspective?
you might want to make sure you don't make yourself look like an IDOT before you go any further.
/
I make $1.10 per report and make much more sm
than by the line. Day by day it varies and goes back and forth, but over a long period, it is better by the report. Make sure they pay links though; this is key.
Do Shapin MTs really only make 6 cpl and QAs make 1.5 cpl?
/
Why can't you make money with all OPs? I do all OPs and make
good money. I'm not with WebMedX though.
I'm happy with what I make. I still make more than if I went anywhere else and hardly noone in th
biz gives raises so I feel blessed that I make a lot more than most, raise or no raise.
And always make sure you don't make line
counts that amount to anything. They always place you with impossible ESLs as soon as you start making decent money.
Call them......
Since the Warminster office is being absorbed into the Northeast Region, the only ones who can answer that question for you is the Warminster office itself. I've worked for them for years and have plenty of work - my accounts haven't gone anywhere.
Yes. I get what they call
a tiered incentive on my checks and then get quarterly bonuses to boot. I was quite impressed actually. I started at 8.75 cpl and can earn up to 2 cpl incentive plus the bonuses.
We got Labor day incentives too...$40 for the first 800 lines and $20 for every 400 lines after that.
It may all fall apart but right now I'm happy.
If you truly cannot call, perhaps
it is time to find work with another MTSO/company? That way when one is slow, you will have another as a backup? This is, of course, assuming you are an IC. If you are an employee having communications issues where you cannot even call your employer, I would start looking elsewhere.
I could call and say
I could call and say I I couldn't work that day if I was sick or if my daughter was sick, things like that, but I've never done that with the exception of a few weeks ago when my husband had open heart surgery and I ended up not working for 3 days.
I could call and say
But the point is I would never do that. I have to have a very good reason why I wouldn't work.
Why not just CALL them?
.
of course call
but I would take this as a warning: If they don't follow up *before* they actually hire you...
So should I call them? (nt)
