Do most MTSO's require Express Scribe for on-line

It's been a while since I've job hunted. I never had problems with the actual tests, but using Express Scribe to access the tests was always confusing. Is it still a problem for anyone else?

had the same problem when I got my new computer. Easiest way is to take it from desktop, and you can drag it into escribe.

Has anyone used Express Scribe to take an on-test SM
test? I downloaded it, but I can't get the function keys to work. Any help would be appreciated. I am technically dumb! TIA
How to load Express Scribe
If you already haven't found out how to do it, save the files to a folder on your desktop, then go into Express Scribe, click on Load or load files (I don't have it on this computer, so am doing this from memory), then click Browse, then click on C drive, then click Desktop, click on the folder, then click on the files you want to load. In my experience, Express Scribe will only load a job if it has been saved in a folder. Hope this helps and good luck

Not sure about Gear Player, but in open Express Scribe and go to settings, and then settings, and go to the tab files, and you should be able to check the box there. You can also go to the WMA file right click and select open with and then select your Express Scribe. Good luck on the test!

I may be doing something wrong. I can't open this file in anything but windows media and it goes directly to windows media. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

I tried downloading it into Express Scribe and it wouldnt go into that.
It's a mystery and they have never gotten back to me so I assume as I cannot play their sound file, I wont be considered for the job. I tried everything to get it to work.

i had to purchase my own bos and the software/pedal they told me to purchase was $129 (with their discount). they did provide the spellchecker, drug book, and Smartype though, so that was good. thanks for the fyi.

Yes, I've got that far. I'm actually able to play now, but I still don't have all the kinks ironed out. When I play, it is warbled...I'm sure the problem is with my settings and my F-keys...can you help me?! At least I know now this pedal does work thanks to your telling me yours did...I kept plugging and accidentally discovered I had to click on Express Scribe when I signed in.... Thank you for your help.

Well I was trying like h--- to get my DQS pedal to work with Express Scribe and no way.
Thanks for telling me you had the same problem. I thought I was the only stupid one that was having this problem. I thought Infinity would work but it doesnt.

help receiving encrypted files through Express Scribe
Is there anyone out there who could tell me how I could listen to encrypted files in my Express Scribe which I receive through email??? I am able to receive and listen to them just fine when not encrypted, but cannot figure out how to set ES up to use a password. When I click on the voice file in my inbox, it now takes me to ES, but displays an ERROR box stating - unable to open DSS file, this means the file might not be a true DSS file or the file is corrupt
The files are coming from a dss program called Olympus if that matters. Any insight would be greaaaatly appreciated!!!

Star Stop works better than express scribe. If you want start Stop, yea it is kind of sm
expensive. I wish they did pay their QA hourly as I think they would see better quality work, but they per line and it is higher than the other person posted.
I have never had a problem with management, so I am unfamiliar with what the other person experienced with management.
Pay is always on time (most of the time early). I like the software. I guess you just have to see if it fits for you.
A lot of hospitals require the MTSO to use their platform. sm
I think this is because MQ burned them, which was the basis of the lawsuits. If you are in their system, they have control, which it seems they now want to keep.
That could change with the wind, so in a year or 2, the trend may go back to using a platform with an HL7 interface. Right now, though, every account we get wants us to be in their system under the reign of their IT department.

Med-Scribe line counts
I have also had issues with line counts at Med-Scribe. Their pay has been accurate & on-time, but they pay by hard line and do not pay spaces. It is so hard to make a decent line count even with easy work that sometimes I wonder if they even pay for the spaces in between words and sentences!
Otherwise they are a very good company to work for. The people are very nice, they use MSN messenger for easy communication, and the platform is Word-based. Just a heads up, they do have a Validation system that can be a pain in the neck when you are trying to transmit reports though.
Does Spheris require a phone line? sm
I'm thinking about going there, but why bother applying and testing if I have to use a C-phone. I do internet work only. Any other Spheris info good or bad anyone could share is appreciated. Thanks.

Scribe platform line count
What are your line counts with the Scribe platform? I'm only getting half of what I did with DocQscribe.

I was told I got paid for all headers, footers and expansions, but so much has to be done manually, like open sound file, click to save, then click to close, then click to send, then click to send with note or without note, etc. With DocQscribe, so much was done automatically including downloading a file behind the one we were doing.

Does anyone know how to get individual report line counts in Scribe platform? I can see the lump sum, but I want to see individual report counts.
Where do you get that Scribe does not give you a line count??
I have been with Transportal for over 6 months and NEVER have I not been able to see my line count instantly at anytime I wanted. The ONLY exception to this is if a file is pending in QA it does not show until QA has completed it. This is not new within the last few weeks. It has been this way since January at least since I was hired.
It sounds to me like possibly you did not stay long enough to learn your account nor how to use the software and give it the full dedication it takes to learn all aspects.
I can easily type 250-300 lph when I give it my full dedication and am having a good day. I can say I have major health issues and Transportal has been a WONDERFUL company to work for for me. I do wish the pay was a little higher but I am thankful not to have an account full of ESLs day in and out too so I feel that compensates somewhat. I am an IC and I have NEVER been questioned about my work hours EVER and I have worked under 2 account managers, both beginning with a J. They are exceptional. Some weeks I work days, some weeks I work nights. I work whenever I can with no questions asked. Just as your work schedule may not be the same as everyone else, account managers have their schedules that work for them as well. Who cares when they upload the work, you have work don't you? If the files are already late on TAT, it doesn't mean you HAVE to stay up all night doing them. It means the entire acct is most likely out of TAT and working the oldest first. No, I am not in management. I am merely a team player, IC MT as stated, and I realize what it takes to keep the work flowing and the account happy. I hate seeing someone come on here and bash a wonderful place to work just because it may not have worked for them or because they didn't stick around to figure it out. If you had software issues, why didn't you ask how it worked? They should do more info regarding the use of the software but most experienced MTs can figure it out as it is that simple to use.

Out of 15 years experience, I have never been more satisfied with an account, company, or team lead with the exception of the good ole days and basic Word without platforms. With any platform, you have to do at least some demographic work and that is the wave of the future so you might as well get used to it and thank Obama for pushing electronic medical records. At least we are still typing rather than going to full EMR or VR or editing work from you know where. I am glad you left though, leaves more work for me, YEAH!! Also, I have NEVER received a rude email EVER from anyone within this company.

I had an MTSO once offer me 7 cpl per gross line and said it was equal to 10 cpl sm
for a 65 ccl, so would 6 cpl gross equal 9? It is so hard to tell with these things anymore.

I tested with them, very simple. That was going on two weeks now. For this one account I was checking on they paid 8 cents a line, no more. I used DocQScribe for testing and never heard back from them. I would have liked to heard back from them though regardless to see if I passed or failed. I was going to be typing ER reports. I agree with the above poster. If you can't vent to people who are in the field about your good or bad experiences, then this is not a democracy. Personally, I do keep a lot of mine to myself basically because I don't like dealing with negative people who will judge me. It stems from not having a very supportive family and not being able to express myself growing up. What is heaven for one is hell for another but either way, people need to express themselves and get it out.
In this profit-driven healthcare industry, MTs are under appreciated and in many cases abused by management and perhaps isolated and ignored by other MTs. We definitely need a support system and these forums are supposed to serve as a support system out of the work place where we can vent and hopefully be comforted by kind words. We work in an industry that refuses to acknowledge the fact that if it were not for us, they would not have jobs. We are the industry but many of us do not feel we have much clout in the way we are treated, i.e. coldly, indifferently and there-are-more-where-you came from attitude. Lets start cooperating instead of competing especially in the forums and let people have their say and try to embrace with kindness. We all need a pat on the back.

Has anyone heard anything back from Transcription Express? I applied on Sunday and have not heard anything and was just curious as to whether anyone else has heard anything. I have a lot of experience and thought I would at least receive the opportunity to test. I do realize, however, that with the number of views the ad has received, they are probably wading through tons of resumes. TIA
