Looks like I will be going to work in-house with an hourly wage. I love being home, but I can't afford to sit around and barley make a couple bucks a day. This is ridiculous! What's happening right now? Why are we all out of work. I have asked for more accounts, but low volumes across the board...

Owner is great. I would recommend this company to anyone who wanted to be paid what they are worth and paid on time!

I could not even get through the conversations to the real information on companies. I come here to be informed and to be supportive, but it has gotten tiring going through the constant redundant arguing. I almost gave coming here but it is part of my day. I just come here less now.

All of that aside, when it comes down to doing the real work, many old and new MTs at MQ experience multiple accounts with multiple client profiles to read which cuts down on productivity. Even if you get 15 cents a line it doesn't matter if you have to waste time reading CPs and never becoming familiar with one account. JMO also.

Yes, I have backup accounts. Yes, they are out of work, too. So how many backups should I get and how many account specifics do I have to keep straight to make minimum wage here? I understand summer slump, but this is bad, really, really bad!!!!

No work for weeks, no work to make up, have 4 accounts. Simple truth this company overhires and now I am stuck! Unfortunately, I will have to move on.....Hey, I have an idea - Why not hire some more!
There is no way I would work for anyone who did not pay me. If I get paid every 2 weeks, then..
the first time my check is more than a couple days late, they can forget it. You can bet they are getting paid by their clients. Who do they think does the work. The MTs should be paid above all else. I would give them a date that they had to "overnight" by check by or I'd file a company with a labor board, BBB, anyone who will listen. These companies get away with it because no one stands up for themselves. I do the work that is asked of me and I expect to be paid one time. No one should except any less than that. Good luck to you and nail them right where they stand on this one!!

several of us will probably get warnings for not making line count this pay period. What amazes me is that they've got an ad out today. Makes me wonder if things are going to get worse before they get better.

I agree with the other poster. Futurenet is great! They are very respectable. A lot of working is going to SR now though. That is the only downfall I have for them. But they work with you on everything! If they offered benefits, which they don't, I don't think anyone could beat them whatsoever. Pay is ontime EVERY time! Excellent staff! I have been there for a little over 2 years and have thought about going other places ONLY for benefit purposes but I just can't! They are too good to leave! I will be with them as long as they will allow me to. Couldn't picture myself working for anyone else!

Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.

After seeing some of these posts, reading through many ads, and speaking with recruiters, and being knee deep in seeing some of the "mishandled, misappropriated, misguided, hypocritical, and profound blatant mistakes on reports, that are missed by QA, and mostly by some of these same Transcriptionist themselves, who are masticating
I have been with MQ Amherst now for 3 weeks and have continually run out of work. I know this has
been hashed out on here many times but my question is does anyone expect this problem to ever get resolved or should we simply expect to keep running out of work at Amherst forever. I know when they call me about the new pay plan and tell me it is incentive based I plan to tell them they better make sure we have work or their plan is a joke. What can I expect with this office and what can be done to correct it. I dont plan to have to work 8 accounts to get my lines in and have them QA me on accounts I have never done besides. If this problem is long standing and unlikely to be resolved it is time to either get out of that office or get out of MQ so I would like some good ideas and comments on this. We know it exists but what is the next step.
Why is OSi hiring new people when I have been out of work for 6 weeks?
I am statutory (or IC, whatever they are calling it now). I have a main account and 2 -- count them 2 -- back up accounts. I have been out/short of work for over 6 weeks.
Unless you are a full time employee, you get no benefits, no hourly, NOTHING. I am amazed that they are hiring when they have people already trained and begging for work!!!
Don't they realize that it costs a WHOLE lot more in turnover to train a new employee than to keep an already-trained one happy?
I'm looking at other nationals now. I've never been one to job hop, but I just can't take the time off any more!!!

I have never typed so fast and made so little in my life except for at Amphion. Good for supplemental income but not if you really need some money.
Thanksgiving is weeks away, yet no work on TransTech this morning. sm
I have 2 accounts, with no work on either. I used to think they cared, but now I am not so sure. If there is no work now, I have to think the closer it gets to Thanksgiving, it will really be awful. 
Why is transcend advertising for help. No work is the story for 3 or 4 weeks.
In 2+ years, never been so low in work, even with secondary accounts to try to go to. And now they advertise for more help? Are we all supposed to go to part time?

You may be asked to invest in expensive equipment, likely to run out of work regularly and not have your calls returned when you try to contact them. They do pay well but the work is NOT there more than it is, so great pay doesn't mean much. They sell it to you great but they don't deliver.

later I am a temporary employee at Walmart for 6.00/hr. Still more than I was making at my production job but how humiliating.

vaction - quite a sweet deal ... while the rest of us are struggling with monumentous premiums (financing a newbie's love/sex life not my idea of fair play). Many of us haven't gotten a single day of PTO, (thanks to the line requirement to meet when there is no/low work) and most of have been here much longer than 4 months.

I encountered slow to no work the weeks preceding Thanksgiving and several days after but the past
few days it has picked up. Can I ask which account/accounts your on? I think that makes a difference. Mine are part f the Escription platform. I honestly got really ticked a few weeks ago when we had no work and they were still hiring. For one, it's bad enough when we have to share some of our work with the Indians, but how fair it is to hire these poor people who think they are getting work where there is none. It makes no sense to me either. Why not provide work to your current employees than drive them away by taking on too many new people.

I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.

I was working for. I would wake up at 4 a.m. AND ON THE WEEKENDS TOO because they needed "coverage" supposedly and I would sit until 9:30 or noon without any work. Sorry, but my rent of $1450/month could not be paid with only $57/day. So I got another job and when I got the equipment and everything, then I quit for the other employer.

He wouldn't have time. Why would someone talk directly to the MTSO? Most do not know (or care) about the details just the big picture.

I will share this about the MTSO I work for. I called her late last Wednesday night after Church and told her I was compelled to help out with Hurricaine Katrina in some way and an opportunity arose for a small group from my Church to go to Louisianna this coming week. Would she be able to cover my work. She told me no problem without any hesitation and even donated money for the trip.
And I am sure there are plenty of good companies out there to work for. To compare us to migrant workers is just not right.

I used to work for a company who separated the MTs by work type daily. sm
regret ever leaving that company. we had a max of 4 MTs typing a large training hospital with clinics. i was assigned consults and discharges with consults being my priority. another MT had ops and admits, etc. it worked so much better. we were RARELY out of TAT and each of us were trained on other report types for backup in case someone need to take off. not to mention that we were easily able to learn the ESLs because we got them repeatively enough to learn them, set up templates, etc. much, much more productive for us as MTs, for the company as work flow, and i am sure for the dictator because they got someone who knew them and their dictations well enough to be accurate. i don't understand why large MTSOs cannot comprehend how much more beneficial that would be.

Works GREAT for me and I love SS. I never really care what the negatives are as I have found they are usually people that can't make their lines, don't work the hours they commit to or just overall do not care!

Work PT for a company and noticed something odd. When I work the day shift I get (sm)
actually fairly good dictators, a couple of toughies, but no more than one would expect. When I do the late afternoon/early evening shift it is like night and day. I get some really crummy dictators and tons of problem/miscoded reports.
They have said that there is no cherry picking able to be done with this program so I just have to wonder if the crappy dictators can't get to the dictate stations until after 4 p.m. or what?
