I know I'm going to be happier... heck, I'm happier already
Although only on day 2 at my new job and having to learn a new system, all new doctors etc etc, I typed 50% more lines per hour today than I did yesterday and I anticipate it'll keep getting better.  For the most part I was able to work the hours I wanted to at MQ, and DQS is a very user-friendly platform IMO, but other than that I don't think I'll miss a thing.  I was with MQ for 12 years and at the end there it felt like I was in an abusive relationship.  Change is good!
Is anyone happier with OSI now?
Be honest and give me some feedback.  I just tested for them.
with JLG now much happier..can't believe
there's nobody constantly looking over your shoulder. Almost no contact with sup but that's because they treat you like a grown up and not some kid to babysit as did MQ. No monitoring your every move. I only have 2 accounts, a primary and a back up with only one hard dictator. Email me if you are interested in a referral!
So MUCH happier without MQ!
I have been gone only 2 months and am making a lot more money. After getting W2's and seeing how many thousands I lost after all the cesspoor and ASR I am absolutely thrilled to have made the choice. Also being able to spend time with my family rather than fighting for line count is fantastic!
Have been there 2 years - never been happier nm

More money and much happier
I have too much work right now. Working two IC jobs and part time with an MTSO. All pay better than the Q. Almost doubled my pay at one IC job because they pay for everything, headers, foots, ADT, etc., on top of a higher line rate.

I was afraid I would run out of work but the opposite has been true, and I can't keep up with all the work. I am going to quit the MTSO today because I do not have the time, it pays the least and requires I work Saturday.
MUCH happier and making way more...sm
I left a year ago. I never made any money working for them. I went back to working for a hospital in Maryland and I am making great money. I have heard good things about MDI-MD (My ex-supervisor from the hospital I work for went there) and I know they are our backup account people. I would look around, there are jobs out there that have to pay more than MedQuist, I found one!! Good luck!
I would go with the second - you will be happier, trust me. nm

couldn't be happier for you
Then there is hope . . . if you don't mind saying, what type of work are you doing now?
So...you mean you're actually happier

I work for Medware and could not be happier

Medware has been a great company to work for, I have been with them for over two years.  Very happy at Medware.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes! Love Transtech. Never been happier
with an at home MT job!
I am glad I work at OSi. Never been happier.(nm)

I left after 7 years, and am much happier,
after MTing for 30+ years, i too dread learning new things. I find the bayscribe platform to be not as perfect as DQS in some respects, but much simpler in others. It was a heck of a lot easier to learn! another big bonus was being able to transfer my Expanders over. but like another poster said, my stress level is 0 now, i am not reduced to complaining all the time and i suggest you go on with your thought to move on. i don't regret it one bit.
I left OSI for MedQuist & still happier
NM
Yes I am happy, tho I'd be happier if I got paid for spaces - sm
I am very lucky I guess to have a good steady IC job, have about 22 hr TAT and take as little or as much work as I want (with notice). No minimums and can work whatever hours I want. Just have to finish all the work I am given whether it is 30 minutes or 90 minutes by the following mid-afternoon. Except for not being paid for spaces (I lose about $200-$300 a month due to this), it is very good and as close to perfect that you can get.
Well just imagine being even happier when you contact the company to follow up, and guess what? sm
You actually get the job because you show an avid interest in a job with the company.  On the other hand, you could be just happy to know that you passed the test.
I left a month ago, and couldn't be happier! They are the pits! Good luck. nm

Anyone happier working for a national versus local clinic or hospital? SM
I'm with a national but from time to time, openings come up with areas places. None are in my own town, but would be 30 to 45 minutes away from home. In the case of at least one of these places, you are required to work in-house just to get used to their system, which I understand, but they say it usually takes a year before being set free at home. Now I can understand that if you are a brand new MT, but as far as just getting used to how they do things, that seems excessive. If you meet the criteria sooner, you can go sooner. It worried me about the length of time. That would put me in a bind with little kids and being away from home on certain days after they got off the school bus.

On the flip side, they pay hourly so I might like that, rather than make next to nothing on some days where the dictators are horrible on my current account. On the other hand, on a good day the lines are worthwhile and I'd come out ahead by LPH rather than hourly rate.

So many things to think about...oh, and another biggie...with this local place I'd get health insurance free for myself (not the family, but I have the kids covered on a plan I'm already paying for myself, along with me on the plan, which I could then drop myself from).

Anybody worked both scenarios and decided the national really was better? I actually interviewed here a year ago but didn't have to decide because they offered it to somebody in-house so I never got an offer. I have 3 years of experience but I still worry I would take forever to meet the criteria to work from home. I guess there are a few that have been there over a year and haven't met it. I don't want that to be me.
So LEAVE ALREADY. nm

I will leave it, thank you very much
through these 2 rotten companies, I finally have found a good company, one that appreciates my work (which is very good) and one that does not lie to me or steal lines!!! So take that!!
Why did you leave?
Or do you still work for them? I had the same experience - just sent my paperwork back, but haven't heard anything, including training date, etc.
Leave it alone. I(SM)
If you don't like what they posted, that's fine. You have no right whatsoever to harass them for it and yes, that is exactly what you were doing.

Goldbird

leave your job
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, don't do it!:)
why did you leave
Transtech?
see below, and please leave me alone, if you have nothing
meaningful or thoughtful to post.
Thank you.
Why did I leave? SM
1. Lack of tech support. Computer once was down for 3 days before tech support finally got in touch with me -- despite my leaving 2 messages.
2. Cut in pay for ASR work. Line rates for ASR work were reduced by approximately 50% compared to straight transcription line rate. PTO accrual rate also almost cut by 50%.
3. Lack of communication. E-mails, not always but occasionally, will never be answered. I figured out this usually happens when they don't know the answer and don't want to admit they don't.
4. Nasty people at the Help Desk. You are required to have your IM turned on while working. If Help Desk needs a stat done, they can get very nasty with you if you don't get it done in what they feel is a timely fashion, its the end of your shift, or for some reason it doesn't fall into your cue.
why did you leave?

Why did you leave? NM

Please don't leave
We are not all malcontents. I, too, have worked for different hospitals and understand your reasoning. Hang in there - some of us don't blast (at least not very often).
leave

By staying there you are giving them life.  Quit now.  Anyone who works under those conditions can only blame themselves.  Companies can't **** employees like garbage if there are no employees.

let's all leave
Okay all you TTers, let's leave this board for good.  We know we have a good thing at TT.
Why did you leave? nm

Why did you leave?
Just wondering if you don't mind...
You can always leave
Some of us like our jobs. And I'm not the only rah-rah.

And for your information I don't get paid anything extra. I'm just not as jaded. Sorry 'bout your luck.

BTW...

It's funny how much you'll talk about the company and the director without putting your name. Bet you wouldn't say the same thing if we we're in an office where there was a face with those comments!

I would not leave
I work for a small company as an IC. The company knows IC means I work when I can or want to. I have no set schedule. That is #1 importance to me. But aside from that, the account I work on is really nice. I have run out of work on occasion, but it is not a regular thing and seems to happen mostly when someone new is hired. The new people seem to go in and work around the clock, taking work from those of us who have been there longer and tending to be the cherry pickers, which annoys me somewhat, but that usually dies down within a couple of weeks and then things get back to normal, with enough work for everyone. There are some ESL dictators but not a ton, and many of those are easily understood. The owners of the company are really easy people to work with, very understanding, etc. The pay is always on time, and I feel I earn decent pay for what I do and I feel like I am valued there. I would not leave them now or otherwise.

Now my second job is a whole different story. I work as a coder for a large hospital, and i would leave in a heartbeat if I could. I work from home and again have no set schedule but do have to work xx number of hours each week; I just pick the times to work. That is it's only advantage. The work is demanding and difficult. We get no respect for it at all. The stress is incredible as we work on a production standard that is virtually impossible to meet. We have 0, that's right 0, people in our group who meet the standard, and we have 27 coders. The expectations are unachievable, and we are constantly pressured to do more and more and more but we get less and less and less in return. Sounds familiar? However, this is the job that provides benefits for myself and my hubby, so I am stuck there for time eternal (or until Medicare kicks in for us). In my lifetime, I have always enjoyed working, but this is truly the first time I could say I hate my job and mean it wholeheartedly. That is why I feel for so many of the MTs out there who are stuck in situations that are making them miserable. Considering the amount of time an individual spends working, shouldn't we be able to feel good about what we do?
Why would you leave?
Why would you leave a perfectly good job that you like because two companied merged?  Why not wait to see how it works out?  I've worked for Transcend for five years and for the most part they are a good company...it would work AGAINST them to take you off your regular accts and put you on unknown accts then train people to work your accts.  Their goal is to get the lines done and done well.  Pay is above most companies and you do get paid for major holidays.  There is PTO, benefits and 401K.  Please don't do something foolish, especially in this economy.
why don't they just leave us alone to do
our job and put this wasted research money into something worthwhile?? Why don't they put it into finding a cure for cancer or something?
If YOU think you are a G.P. then YOU can leave.
matters what the person who percieves herself as a G.P. thinks, and if she WANTS to stay or go.
Please go find your new job and leave it be
I figured there would be a post on here after the forum.  But let's not  make it out to be more than it was.  There was 1 post.  That is because people's names are shown on the company forum.  And on MT Stars, who knows how many posts are from the same few people.  If Transcend was so bad, you would think that it would not be prospering as it is.  I work there, I love it.  I have had NO problems, NADA.  I am not the only one either.  I am sick of hearing the bashing.  I am sure that there are problems there, as anywhere, but they are a good place to work and compared to some companies, a great place to work.  If you want the "perfect" job, I guess you will never be happy.  Sometimes you just need to be realistic and a little less spoiled.
Job offer from MDI-FL should I leave OSi for them?
By the way it's a VR job, suffering from ulnar nerve entrapment and looking for options.
Leave your e-mail here, may be able to help.. sure it is IL and not WI..nm

yes, leave your email
Got one in mind for you <G>
leave your email

They are very civilized when you leave

Why would you want to leave your IC position?
IMHO, it's better to be an IC than employee. As an employee, you still have the expenses but without being able to deduct as much on your taxes. The 2 cpl lower pay with payroll taxes held out won't make up the difference of your self-employment tax percentage (half of the SE 15.9%). I have learned that if you are basically happy where you're at, STAY THERE. The grass is not greener on the other side no matter what people say. I have bounced from company to company, IC to employee and back, etc., this past year because I can't find a good fit.
Oh they will leave you alone all right, WITHOUT WORK!
Not a very honest bunch of people who do not monitor their work flow, thus first come first serve, thus you might as well throw out their payment scale, as you have to type so much to make so much, and how can anyone do that when there is not enough work!
Did a lot of MTs leave after the holidays?
There were problems with slow/no work in the fall and earlier this month, but they were still hiring?
