A good mix. I don't mind ESL docs. I think that some U.S. docs are worse! nm

Agree with above, not to mention all the docs' names they refer to

Thanks, Dawn!
The article could have used more editing on my part, but my emotions were and are flowing! It is a sad day today, but tomorrow will come and we will go on. I wish all of us the best in finding new jobs and starting over again.
I think MT is becoming a niche business that will soon consist only of ESLs with the good docs

Being remote, it makes it easy for someone to mess with your life if you get them angry, especially if they can manipulate line counts and the type of work you get.
Perhaps that is why most of us don't speak up more, although that is precisely why we should.
Who's going to be the overseer for this industry, to make sure that all is conducted fairly and within the law? I don't think anybody outside the industry cares that much. There are much bigger things to worry about right now, I guess.
Peace.
Agree. Good post.

Agree, they are a good company. sm
Pay is always on time, and the platforms are easy. I do have heavy ESLs in my accounts, and problems with running out of work. I think the accounts that have plenty of work are internet accounts.
Agree with comments above, good and bad, BUT SM
if you need insurance, FORGET IT. They recently implemented terrible insurance plan with high deductable (like $2000), no med coverage and $10,000 out of pocket expense for year.
Otherwise, it is just fine and I work on high level account with lots of ESL. Not a big problem. The company will work with terrible dictators to get them in line.
Just insurance stinks, as previously noted.
I agree! it is so old now and other good information is getting
lost in all this garbage.
Agree. Good luck everyone!
Have expressed same thoughts above--this is getting convoluted, isn't it? Someone is going to have to do the US-only work. Hopefully us. Good luck, everyone!
Agree, they are a good company...
Yes, they are a great company to work for, so don't you think they deserve a call instead of this broadcasting? I have been with them for near 3 years. They have always been honest and I don't have to worry one bit that I will receive every dime of my pay.
Please call them, and have the decency to post back that the issue is resolved, at least.
You go girl!

Well help a girl out!
Where did you get it? How?
Go on girl!

I am an old PRD girl myself and (sm)
the ESP Expander that is written into the ExTex program reminds me of that; however, I also use my shorthand.

sorry not that girl
i work on mdnetwork which is a great plaform but def do not get to cherry pick. who cares though, all the docs are great so it doesnt really matter to me one way or another.
You go girl!! (sm)
Too many want all the perks of a work-at-home job and the perks of a 9-5 run office situation.
I suppose they also want their dentist and doctor to work around their schedule also.
Not a recruiter, just tired of hearing the griping and inflexibility so many seem to have anymore, not everyone, just some.
You go girl!!

Yes please continue. Thank you so much. It helps me to focus on what my goal is and if something is not aligned with that, discard it. You never know who is posting on the other end and it may be their desire to have you stop, all the more reason to continue.
Right on, girl!
You said what I think every day -- afraid to check how many hours I really work, setting up each and every job in a software platform that makes me take my hands off the keyboard every 2 seconds. It is a waste of my time, but I doubt I could ever return to the world where you dress up every day, get in a car, fix my hair, get my nails done, etc. I have many regrets about doing this work, but those stated above are not amont them. My regrets are yours - no raises, no appreciation, and knowing that the big guys travel back and forth for meetings (what a joke in this day and age of online meetings). If only they split all that money up for us poor
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!

Good points, I agree completely.

I agree with the posts below, I think it is a good company. SM
You do receive good training on the computer. The whole week of training is on the computer. You will start IMMEDIATELY on production with your account. That is my only complaint.
It was a good comprehensive test, but I agree their

good idea...I agree...but didn't they have one once? nm

Sounds good to me. I agree 100%. Am 50 years
30 years and have a LOT to say and share. Its late, and I just happened to stop here for a second before bed while my other computer is defragging. I will follow up on this definitely within the next day or two, holidays or not. We have no time - less than no time, right? Can't wait to communicate with others who have some hope for us as a profession, a UNITED profession. Laurie
Agree!! Sounded too good to be true.
You do not get that kind of pay and only require 1 year experience!
I agree, it's a good general reference...
but be careful because everything you read on here is not totally correct... I would say not even in the 80% correct range. There are several companies talked about on this site that I have personally worked for and I have seen posts regarding them that were not correct at all -- like the platform used, pay, IC or employee, hours, etc. Also, many people will post bad comments here simply because they do not want new MTs coming on their account and taking their work . So, yes, it is good for general reference but by no means totally honest. I think a good indication is when you see multiple posts stating the same issues about the same company.
I agree, good hearing IS important
but any health-related tests or questions must come AFTER an offer has been made. That is a key part of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Sometimes people physically cannot do certain jobs. I am a fat old lady. I don't think it would do me any good to walk over to UCLA and ask to try out for the varsity football team. But if I apply for an MT position, I do not expect my weight (I am fat) or my hearing (which is excellent) to be called into question. If a company wants to ask medical questions after hiring, they can ONLY be related to job performance. For example, I cannot be asked about back problems because as an MT I am not required to lift. If I applied for a truck driving position, it would be a valid question. Too many employers think that MTs don't know their rights (many don't) or are afraid to exercise them. I say, know your rights!
I agree. Keystrokes is a good company that sm
really does care about its employees. I have been there a long time (7 years) so I have seen them grow from small to large. There have been a lot of changes through the years, all positive, and if someone is not there now, they really do not know what is what. This year alone, we have added benefits including PTO that posts quarterly so that you do not have to wait a year, paid life insurance, dental insurance, additional life insurance to purchase and vision insurance. These are in addition to great health insurance that only went up $8 compared to my husband's company that went up $180 per month, Aflac, 401k and other benefits.
Yes, there are a lot of happy people working there but not every company is for every company.
Did they have a lot of problems back 7 years ago, 5 years ago, etc? They did but they worked through them and improved themselves and continue to do so.
I make great money, have steady work with very few exceptions and have great benefits. I was remembered with a card at Christmas, every birthday and with a gift each MT Week. I have received little thank you gifts here and there, get OT pay when asked to work it and do not get bothered as long as I do my job. Their standards are high but their pay is higher than most as well.
THAT is why there are so many happy people at Keystrokes. If the company didn't work out for you or you didn't work out for the company, it may be time to try them again as things are always changing for the better. If you did not work out for them, tell them that you can improve as well. I bet they'd listen and consider that.
Are they perfect? No, but they are as close to a perfect job as I need and want. As long as they keep improving and not making bad changes, I will stay until I retire in 8 years.
you go, girl! I'm very happy with MQ...and have been for
no one likes to hear that, though! So I have to work a little harder to make a little more money, so what? I'm a big girl, I can handle it!
You just said everything that I was thinking also...you go girl!!!

To Texas Girl...
Actually, my BOB - 10+ accounts for which I have 3 primary accounts out of - has standardized client profiles, no need look at client profile for each account or try to remember different rules. All now have the same formatting rules and ADT info requirements and very few dictator-specific differences. I realize that not all service areas have done this yet and not all areas of MQ are managed the same and I probably would not be as happy if I were in one of those, but I stuck it out and they made the changes promised in my area and I am now so much more productive. The accounts are better than I had before MQ as far as number of ESL and other difficult dictators, the ASR reports on average are good and I can more than make up for the 30% cut in pay on them - only get on average 5 or 6 a day though.
I guess it depends on where you end up when hired at MQ how good or bad things are. I have moved around a lot over many years in this business and probably will stay here until retirement if I am able - depending on what happens with CBay and all. I have found the right fit for me with MQ with adequate pay, the schedule I want, plenty of work, reliable paycheck and PTO - a big plus after a stint being IC, and nobody hanging over my shoulder watching my every move. The only time I ever hear from anybody is in answer to a question I have asked and the daily TAT logs from my PS. That is the way I like it, leave me alone to do my thing. I have no reason to leave.
I am glad you found the right place for you, having only one account that is always busy is the best situation to be in. You are lucky because that is not so easy to find anymore.
you go, girl, i know exactly what you are talking about
x
Woohoo...you say it girl!!!
I get so sick of people not taking pride in their work and if everyone did there would not be so much complaining about it...
Hey girl! Email me.......sm
Your old TMTS friend, LOL!
GEORGIE GIRL...
I do clinic notes too. Just curious how long you've been with your current company and how much experience you have? I'm getting ready to post mine. Thanks!
I was a Girl Scout
I'm always prepared :) LOL!
I don't keep all the eggs in 1 basket because I have been around this track a few thousand times. It's also why I make sure I can use all the new modes of transcription to my advantage. I think that's key to the future of MT. Keep your skills up, and not just your typing skills. Learn. Network. Have the quality to back all that up. You'll have work.
Southern Girl
I have a friend up in San Francisco and she bought this nasty little starter home in a dangerous neighbrhood (gangs, drugs, but it was the only place she could afford to buy) for $350,000K. They are afraid to go out of their house at night. I once saw a two-bedroom condo listed in the SF paper for 2.2 million.
I agree with the poster. A simple, "Sorry, but it's just a good fit for me is all that is need
Everyone knows in this business that what is good for one person is not necessarily good for another. I've gotten more jobs based on other's recommendations only to be sooooo disappointed. To each his own and good luck. It's not like your the first person to quit a transcription job. It gets easier.....trust me LOL
Sure do agree with you WORKING women set a good example for kids and
SCHOOL and DAY CARE never replace a mother. A 2 person family with a stay at home mom does not make a great kid. I see messed up kids from stay at home families all the time, the wealthier they are sometimes, the more entitled and into alcohol and drugs the kids turn out. A child sees the mother providing for them and it makes them feel loved and secure. I do not want my daughter to be a stay at home mom. I was her to have a career and to always have confidence and to be able to support her family whether there is a husband or not. Not all husbands make enough to keep a family going. Some people are just very narrow minded.
