(Before the buyout, of course. No one knows what to expect now.)
Pros: Flexibility (depending on account type, but overall very flexible), consistent keystroke counts that match up, ALWAYS pays on time and with accuracy, good tech staff, good editing staff.
Cons: The biggest complaint I hear from DRC employees:
Benefits are pretty much token. Health insurance and vacation time are dependent on Keystrokes and keystrokes are dependent what accounts you are on. If you're on a crappy account you're screwed. If they allow you to remain on an account you're good at, you're fine. If you work several accounts or have your accounts changed, you often cannot accrue vacation or insurance. You can only take one period of time off a quarter (be it one day or one week) or you must make it up, i.e., if you have a mammogram one day, a dental appointment another day and two months later have a vacation planned and even have the time accrued to cover it then you will lose accrual for three months by using your PTO. In other words, you may only use one PTO period a quarter AND in the same pay period without losing future PTO. If you take two weeks off, you'd better make sure they fall in the same pay period or you will not accrue anymore without making up a week of it. This policy also applies when they run out of work.
The other con is not being assigned to one specific supervisor, which can be confusing and contradictory.
