I pulled a report I did today. I get paid 65 characters.
At 65 characters it was 110 lines and at 55 it was 130. If the 65 is employee status and there are other benefits that would be the one I would choose. If you don't have benefits it would probably be 6 of one and half-dozen of the other.
Sorry couldn't be more helpful. Having to make a decision too. One job pays more per line but no benefits, no bonuses. The other job pays a little bit less but has incentives and good benefits. Sounds like a no brainer but it is still hard to decide.
I would look at how productive you could be. I know you probably don't have any idea if you aren't familiar with the account. I'd also look at the stability of the company. There are no guarantees, but if there is a mom and pop company, versus a 300+ MT company, that may play a factor. Check the boards on both companies (I'm assuming it is 2 different companies but maybe it is just pay scale difference) and see what others have said about them. Tons of ESLs, hard to make lines, very inflexible with schedule, etc.
You can take job #1, but there is no law that says you are there for the next 2 years and maybe job #2 will still be willing to hire you.
Note the above poster did not come back today and say she did not get paid.
I would like everyone who followed this thread to note this poster that had so many negative things to say about Cardioscribes, where she says she works, did not post she did not get her paycheck today. That should be the answer to the this whole thread. Also, I offered to help whoever was saying she does not get her line count or pay, and not one person contacted me. Again, I think that speaks volumes.

I am currently head of QA for a company and do everything else as well, hiring, firing, etc., and I am looking for another job because I don't like how they treat the MTs. We are incredibly short staffed because we use outdated equipment and the company won't supply it. We only have 11 people covering every account we have and it's working the good people to death. The other day the office manager contacted one MT telling her she needs to work that day and I told her that was the MTs day off (this particular person had worked 19 days with only one day off) and her response was I don't care, she needs to work. I told them this is the quickest way to run people off. I'm working 7 days a week as well and sometimes I think it would be easier just to actually transcribe, but then there's the problem of finding a good company with a decent rate.

all of you KS pollyannas need to realize that there are people who have had very negative experiences with KS - whether it be the pay, the managers, the work, or with the 666 owner. It is true that there are differences even within companies, and I think at that point it is the owners obligation to streamline things all the way across the board if they want to continue a good reputation. Obviously, someone has done something very wrong at KS - and I think these complaints normally start at the top and then trickle down - we're not all looney-tunes -

platform? I swear I was told this, but can't remember when or by whom.
Also, has anyone ever asked to switch accounts? Are they ever open to this?
Was I dreaming or did a certain company advertise for ESL MTs at 15 to 20 cpl a week or so ago and
now it's suddenly 9 to 13 cpl? I tried to take their test and one of the questions they asked was what you were making. 
Maybe I was dreaming. I copied the ads I applied to and that one seems to be missing.

Any company that makes you wait to get paid until they get paid by the client
is not a company you want to get involved with. That's part of being an MTSO, figuring out how to cover your payroll while waiting to get paid. I would stay away!

since the 1st is on a weekend, we don't get paid until Monday. It will happen again on the 15th of August …sigh. It is the only thing I do not like about the company, though, so I guess a few weekends of poverty a year is not too much.

I don't understand how Jayne cannot pay us. We have christmas coming up. I bet her family has a fantastic Christmas because she is using OUR money to pay for it. I worked so hard for her and I know the other girls did too. How insulting that she will not return phone calls or emails or PAY us. How does she look at herself in the mirror knowing that the MTs who did all the work FOR her did not get paid. She even sent me an email saying I give you my word HAHAHA her word is nothing, obviously. Well, I will call the attorney for the THIRD time and see what is going on.

I just started with a company and when I asked specifically if I would be paid for spaces, they said yes. When I started using their program I noticed that the line count for each job did not include spaces. I checked it with more than one program. I called them and they said there was a glitch in the program that would be fixed. It has been almost two months now and that glitch is still not fixed. My checks do not include spaces either. No one at the company knows what is up. I can't believe I am the only one at this company who has deduced that they are not paying for spaces. So, do you check your line counts to see if spaces are included? You might be in for a surprise. Man, I am tired of being burned when I am a reliable and honest IC. Maybe time to do something else. Thanks for listening.

I don't post here frequently because so many of the messages are vitrolic and full of negativity and meanness. I think the mindset of today's world is reflective of just the opposite of the life advice given by your mother (and mine, too). So many, not all I know, but so many folks these days seem live their lives based on the belief that they should
-say ugly and hurtful things every chance you get.
-be rude and insensitive each and every day in each and every way.
-it is not necessary for people to like you, just make sure they know (that you believe) they are less that you.
-nothing is private, nothing is sacrosanct. Let it all hang out.
-if you're miserable, do your best to make everybody else miserable, too.
-do all manner of dirt unto others, but become aggrieved and just downright highly pissed if (when) you reap what you have sown, and feel empowered to lash out in any and every way you can.

deficit and I always thought the idea was to increase; at least that's how it used to be. Never thought I'd see transcription turn into a limited income industry.
QAs being cut today
From what i was told they cut 100% of the US based eScription QA force, 75% of the US based SWAT QA force. I was making 6 cpl as a QA on escription, nice first shift M-F job. They offered me 4/8 cpl as an MT 3rd shift in escription or 5 cpl to be QA for a new account on the Dictaphone side, and told me that being they offered me a new position I would not qualify for unemployment.
