Considering I am one of the highest line producers in the company sm

I doubt I will change jobs. There are no other offices, just different account managers, and mine is the best one, and the one with the most experiences. My accounts are extremely heavy ESL and I do really well with them, over 300 lph.
However, she asked about the platform and, unfortunately, it is awful. It is clunky, slow, and screws up constantly. That is what I was answering, the question regarding the platform. My opinion is hardly an isolated one among the company MTs. The ones who find it as workable as you say are very rare.

I recently emailed asking for lowest to highest line rate sm
it was toooo low 7.5
I used to sing the highest praises of this company, but they are s/m
sadly becoming one of many in the business who, in the end, caree nothing about the MT. I have been out of work for days! (I have 4 accounts of 90% ESL and do all work types). I am interviewing for other jobs outside of the MT world as we speak. Can't afford to sit here without work for more than a day. It has been more like a week with no work that amounts to anything.
I was told the other day that they had to hold work for one of our hospitals because that hospital has in-house union workers who needed the work!!!
In other words holiday pay for only top producers

High producers have most errors ?? sm
I beg to differ on that one. Some may, but I have been the highest producer everywhere I've been. I have also been proud to maintain 100% accuracy at more than 1 place of employment while consisting producing 300 lines per hour. An excellent MT has a good ear, knows anatomy and physiology and has to look up very little and also uses their Expander to their benefit.
MTs who produce high volume but have many critical errors need reprimanded and watched closely. A good QA team and company wouldn't put up with an MT like that for long it would cost the company money in penalties in the long run if garbage was sent to the clients.
Precysers, do you like Web Correct? Can high producers
nm
Believe the highest
I've seen for IC is 10 cpl, 11 cpl w/benefits has been gone since the 1980s.
The highest ever on VR I got was
probably around 3700+ for the day. I also have straight to go along with that. Usually on straight only I would do 2000+ a day. I had great dictators the day I got that almost 4000 lines. I have been told (?) by the higher ups we have people who can double. As far as the quality, we are not allowed to let quality slip as we have to keep 97-98% accuracy and we are checked every 3 months. The only problem I have with editing is now I edit the world and scan and immediately see any misspelled words.
I don't think there is a highest paying sm
speciality any more. Radiology used to be pretty decent. Wages have gone down across the board.
MQ pays the highest, but that's because
they give you so many different accounts to learn all the instructions for. Some have as many as 20 to 30 new accounts per day. It's not worth it. Are you sure you really need to learn VR? I'd stick to straight transcription. It pays way better.
Which companies pay the highest for VR work? nm
Highest I've hear was MQ but I
VR doesn't pay anywhere near what it should for the work that needs to be done with it.
Line By Line...... any info on this company?
Thanks!
NEVER believe the company line. Do line count for yourself.

Why not email ask lowest to highest rate sm
say prior to testing and interview as it will save both sides time. Also, ask, if there is a deposit on their supplied computer. Spheres was $500 returned in SIX MONTHS another was $300. I will not even consider this crap of 7,8,9 etc even down to 4 and 5. Don't waste my time, I worked hard to learn and stay current. When these rates are turned down, they will come up 10/line minimum.
Transolutions do not pay for spaces.
Webmedx pays very well for VR - probably the highest or close to it. nm
nm
Always email first, ask lowest to highest rate offered.
I bet they offer prob. 7 cents if that.
I routinely email lowest-to-highest rate offered sm
and did in April. Rate only 8 cents, to low for me.
Then company should set line count per day with incentives for above that. If get line count done

Help with company's and line requirements??
Any good companies out there with employee status and benefits who do not require a tremendous daily/weekly line count requirement? Thanks for any input!
You mean the T. company's line counts...sm
were not accurate?? (I had considered applying to them before.)
Don't rely on company line count.
My company said I was getting paid for spaces, headers, footer and templates. They also have their own line counter that they can go by but MT/Editors cannot access. I did a line count on my own using Word count and my numbers and theirs were way off. After much prodding found out I was only getting paid for what was in the body of the text. Now I am working on getting paid for the corrected line counts, which is taking forever. Don't believe anything other than what your own eyes tell ya.
Worst on-line company ever worked for
There is NO communication for MTs, between supervisors, QA, or anyone else. Company is highly secretive. QA is very rude!!! Receiving paychecks is consistently late. I would not advise working there for anyone.
My company ups the line rate for several months SM
while we learn. Then on our own. This all really relates to how good a system your company has and how smooth the progression is with your account, which also relates to how good a supervisor you have. Mine is very good.
I'm trying to understand, is everyone upset over VR or drop in pay due to VR? I assume it's the later.
I would really say to at least give it a try. I'm not management.
I'm not even sure how much longer MT will be in existence. If you want to ride this thing out, get used to VR.
I'm high level 4, all acute care, high ESL, many years exp. and highest QA grades...
In case you are wondering...All acute care, all specialties. I request new accounts, and yet they all run out of work...not just during usual slow periods...
Went from hospital to company using DQS, line count has definitely went down, don't get paid for
demographics even if we have to enter them in. I've put a lot more abbrev in my Expander since switching over to DQS to help compensate.
When the company line count is fair - it is easy nm
x
You get quicker replies if you put company name in subject line
.
You know, I never actually counted my lines myself, I just always figured my company's line count
Boy was I wrong! I just went through and totaled all of my lines, then compared them to the line counter, and guess what! It's wrong! Can you guess who I work for? SOFTSCRIPT!!!
Never mind..See msg below. Apparently the line counts are changing with my company
and I probably wont be doubling anything anymore. Moving on.
Just checked line count for another GREAT Extext company
nm
When a company tells you you'll tripple your line count
x
The hospital may pay a line rate to the VR company based on usage...nm
xx
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.
1600 is not a fair minimum requirement. Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.
Any body hear of a company in MA that is hiring editors for 3 cent a line? sm
I asking for someone else, the email was signed Jay
I worked for a different company using Vianeta and could never access line counts. Was also told it
:+
Tier 4 is the highest tier at MQ, operative reports only. nm
.
I miss YOG also! Good company, great line rate, and awesome account.
x
High tier 4 now (out of 5--whatever) was highest MQ tier.
Can pretty much do it all. I detest pathology, too, and thick Russian accents. :)
Means a line is a line is a line, even if it only has one word on the line
it is considered a line.
MDI-Maryland is an excellent company, pay on time all the time, great line rate.
I left also because I went out and got my own client(s).
They are very nice people.
The only negative I can think of were the e-mails from the owner say work, work, work, we are out of TAT.
Other than that, which is very minor, it was a good experience.
"a line is a line" means gross line.
Gross line is a line, no matter how long or short.
Yes to old reports! Their ExText has all the regular functions except line counts are done on line
s
Thanks for the info! Do you *feel* like you make more with a gross line v. character line? (nm)
Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Keystrokes has very few accts on line using ExText. Most use Cphones/2nd line. Lots of Rad
s
Could someone help me with the figuring out of gross line versus character line? sm
I have generally been paid by character line, 65-character line. Now, I have had job opportunities offering to pay gross line but it like 3 cents cheaper than what I am being paid now. A few places I have read that gross line is MUCH better, but is it much better if the pay is so much lower? Please explain how it works or equals out. This position has offered me 6 cents per gross line - what would that equal out to in character lines? Thanks...so confused...
Spaces are not taken into account with gross lines....a line is a line...sm
if there seven words on a line.
or two
one
or a full line of typing...all of the companies that I have worked for define a gross line as 1 inch margins, 12 pt courier font....does not matter what we type in margins or font.....we convert all reports to the 1 inch margins and courier 12 font and then count the lines. not the blank spaces between the lines.
Hope this helps.
I left MQ for TT. The base line rate was less at TT, but overall I make more per line with the
shift differential (I work second shift) and the incentive plan (I have never once failed to make at least an extra half cent per line on incentives - most of the time a penny). I was scared to death to make that move, as I had been with MQ since back in the Transcriptions Limited days. I have to say, though, that it was the best career move I have ever made and I have never, not once, regretted it.
I hope that was of some help.
15 years ago, I charged .22 per line to big accounts. Now I have been forced down to .13 per line.
This is in part due to offshore companies, in part due to newbies coming in and underbidding to get an account but not being able to service it and then the account expecting everyone else to meet that price. The market is being driven down by many forces, and it is not pretty. I used to pay .14 per line (gross line too) and now pay my subs 0.08. It is not something I wanted to do, but something that was necessary. With only 15 MTs, I feel the squeeze more than some of the big companies out there, but cannot grow and keep up the same standards.
Healthcare in general is not the money-maker it once was, and transcription has taken a hard hit over the years.
Line counts - the lower the line count requirements
the harder the account and problems with trying to get production off the platform the company uses.
I see they pay on a VBC line. Isn't that a huge paycut from a 65-char. line with spaces? nm
