I have been trying to muddle all this out on my own and am really suffering from a nervous breakdown. I really need to work, bennies are not a point of contention, and I am thinking of switching from MQ, where I can bet super pay and schedule, but go crazy with anxiety from all the mess, to either Softscript, Integrity Systems, Transolutions, Advantec, or New England Transcriptions....the offers are similar, but I have been at this SO many years, need to work at home now versus hospital (have done both), and just want to find a home, work hard with pride, make a decent pay, be treated as a human with dignity......PLEASE, any and all input, either here or by e-mail, would be soooo appreciated, I am really under the gun to make a decision, and sooooo sick of regrets!! Thanks so very much!

Open message to team leaders/supervisors: sm
When there is ZERO WORK available for us, and it is less than a month before Christmas and our paychecks are hundreds of dollars lower than they used to be, please don't email your team to tell us there's no work and then close it with HAPPY HUMP DAY!
YOU may be paid on salary and don't notice the slump, but it's KILLING us! Happy Hump Day is completely inappropriate!

A little anxious....
I am a little anxious I must admit, and considering I'm testing with some other companies too, I would just like to have an idea where I stand. I would really love to get in with OSi, but at this point, I just need/want a job!

Disgusted
I don't know any MTs who own yachts. However, MTSOs do (or at least some of them).
disgusted
I think I will spend today (since there are no jobs on my accounts anyway)applying for jobs! I am fed up!
Legal or not legal overtime question.
My friend works for an MTSO who assigns dictators. You are supposed to keep up with your assigned dictator whatever that takes. She is overloaded and working 50-60 hours a week. She is an employee. They say they do not pay overtime and do not have to pay overtime but she is expected to get those dictators current and keep them current. I say because she is an employee the federal law of a 40-hour work week and overtime apply. She has asked everyone from her team lead to the HR person and they say they do not pay overtime. I say that is not even legal if she is in fact an employee. What is correct?
disgusted with late pay
I SO AGREE WITH YOU. This wouldn't be tolerated in any other kind of business, retail, contractor, service, firm, etc. If they can't afford you, then they lay you off. They shouldn't try to stiff you out of your payroll check! What a loser!
Thank you. I'm anxious to start a new job
for the new year. I am hopeful about Focus.
Too bad they got rid of Indian team leads. My US team lead is the worst.
I got e-mail and wasn't disgusted
Still happy
It seems they should be anxious to hire people on, and get right on it.
I guess some of these companies think they are the only fish in the sea -- NOT
Thanks...I'm anxious to try it out today! I hear (sm)
you about the Meditech! I was disappointed that that was the system I was going to use on my new job because I had it for one of my accounts on the job I just left...YUCK! Oh well, I'm just happy I got a new job! Thanks again.
So tired and disgusted with offshoring, I went out and got my own accounts. sm
All MTs can do the same thing if they have the ambition, medical transcription experience and some marketing skills. I got 2 accounts in 1 week. I loathe the fact that our work is going offshore, as well as our medical records. So, I decided to start my own little IC company and assure my clients everything is done here, in the USA, with 100% quality.
I say to all my fellow MTs - go for it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Guess what - the pay is 2x if not 3x more than any company is willing to pay us! The best part, most hospitals, large physician practices, and clinics are more than willing to hire you as an IC MT and pay you what you are worth and on time!
Good Luck!
If Americans are a little thin-skinned and anxious right now, (sm)
it's certainly not without good reason! All of us, either directly or indirectly, have been affected by offshoring of ALL American work.
opppss meant purple team, not red team.
Sorry, I meant the purple team.
How can a message be confidential if it posted on a public message board? nm
sm small message or see message...geesh..nm

please don't put nm or call yourself nm if you have a message - nm means no message -sm
nm means no message. sm means see message. if you call yourself nm, then people might not click to read the rest of your post.
just trying to help.
ps. if the money is there, why does that particular person's balance say zero?
That is not legal to do that. NM
:
what is legal
Contact the IRS if they want a "set in stone" schedule. If you have to give them one you are definitely an employee by IRS guidelines and they can be sued. I think you can go to IRS.gov or something on the Internet and find out about this.
This is not legal....
They can only get away with it if the employees allow that to happen. You can contact your local wage and hour division of the US Dept. of Labor for info
Legal?
Yep. The federal government made it perfectly legal for companies to sell off America thousands of jobs at a time with the WTO and NAFTA. Sweet, huh? And the companies doing it for the most part try to be hush-hush about all of it because they know how people would react. It happens more than you know.
Everything was legal
If you had read older posts - I drew the difference in what I made as an IC and what my weekly unemployment pay was - i applied for jobs every week - both online and offline. There's no scheme to it - it's just what it is. KS was only upset because they didn't know the laws in my state and they got caught in the way they handled things.
No, it's not legal
You wrote: I just don't think it's right to ask me to find a new profession for the next 12 months. Apparently it's legal, but that doesn't make it right.
I think what attorney #2 is trying to say to you is that it is NOT legal... that they cannot stretch the definition of a noncompete clause that far...
Because they CAN. It is legal. They want to see
x
Is it even legal
for them to tell you you cannot work for another company? Frankly, it is none of their business what you do in your time you are not working for them.
this is not legal
According to the IRS, whether you work as an IC or an employee, you have to be paid what is agreed upon. As an IC, you have to be paid upon a mutually-agreeable rate and as an employee (depending on the stste) they have to give you written notice of the pay change with at least 5-7 business days but, they can then change the pay.
File a claim with the employment agency in the company's state and that will fix it.
Is this legal? sm
My understanding is that employer provides necessary equipment for employee. Not so for IC, who provides his/her own equipment. But to charge an employee to use equipment to do the work of the company?
I do not think it is legal
for any company to tell you you cannot work for another company in your off-hours, provided, of course, that you do not use the original company's equipment to do so. Why are you working for such low pay? There are plenty of companies out there that will pay well if you're good.
Legal?
I don't see a problem legal-wise. Is it ethical? No.
????? Legal has nothing to do with this
board. You can start just about any thread you want on here, within reason. Do you care to name the company so others will know??
There is nothing legal to do with this. While
it is ridiculous, if she agreed to it not much to be done. Companies can offer any rate of compensation, it is up to the individual to accept or decline.
is this legal?
when i pull up patient demographics i can see that person's (along with everyone who has been to that hospital) social security number....so if i were a criminal i have the name, the date of birth, the ssn, alot of information about them in the report and a feild day with indentity theft.....surely this cannot be legal???? any thoughts?
You must have me confused!
I only have 1 job, full time. Transcend. I have never worked 2 jobs and have never posted such a thing. Sorry. Wrong girl!
Confused???
First of all, who needs feedback on every report? If you are doing your job well, you do not need feedback on a constant basis, especially if you are experienced.
As for they "steel" lines, i.e. steal, I'm not sure what you are talking about either. Why would they pay for headers and footers when all the demographics come up for you? I seldom have to spend any time looking patient names up. I worked for a company who had you sorting through pages of patient info to get information and felt I should be paid for headers and footers. In this case, I don't do anything, I verify what is already there and transcribe. I do not know why your line count is so low, maybe it is the account you are on. I've never had trouble achieving the bonus at the end of the pay period.
Like I stated before, I speak for myself and each MT has to find the company that fits them best. Good luck in your search.
Confused
Clarify your statement please, because I don't understand what you are trying to say AT ALL?!?!?!
MQ Confused MT
If you asked for a transfer, some MQ offices have put a freeze on that, if you office is closed, which many have already closed and many more will be closed by the end of the year, you have no choice where you are being transferred
don't get me wrong, there are good offices out there,(Ohio being one but supposedly that is closing also, why i don't know--it is a great office, keep it open) unfortunately all the MQ offices are not run the same so when you are hired it is the luck of the draw on where you are heading
here is a thought, when new MT's are hired, are they being sent to the offices that MQ knows that they are not closing'--why be sent to an office that will close in 3 months
are they still advertising for new hires??
Confused MT-MQ
Some of the MT's at MQ have asked for a transfer and were allowed---some offices no longer allow transfers--I would assume that when you are hired you are sent to an office that needs help and I would hope to one that is not closing at the end of the year. There are good offices out there--if you are being sent to Amherst, please ask to go to another office, try Ohio, but I hear that they are closing too. Stay away from Amherst
I'm confused
do you mean that you didn't find out the pay until after you went through all that testing? I'm confused about how you would know what they pay if you failed the test or the mini-test. why would they not call you to discuss pay if they didn't want to hire you? was it just the pay that made you mad about the tests?
I'm confused
Okay, I am confused and this is hard to follow. Who is who and what happened to what? signed... sooooo confused!!! I recently had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of this company and I thought she was direct, pleasant and really knew her stuff!!!
confused
Yeah, they did. I am an employee of Diskriter.
to confused--sm
you are right, there is a company called Sten-Tel and I worked for them a while back for a short period of time. There may be more than one Sten-Tel company though in different locations. I was able to download work from their website, meaning their platform, I guess, complete it and then send it back to their website. They did the line counting though, which I never cared for. I had a really strang coordinator, though. He liked to keep me on the messenger all day long...even when I was not supposed to be working...and talk about his personal life. It was very annoying and he always gave me work from specialties I had never done, and for which I had not been hired. They always paid on time though. My company was from Massechusetts. I don't think that same person is still there. good luck.
Got the 2 confused. sm
Actually MDI-MD is the one I never heard from again. MDI-FL actually is the one I got the job with and I think I made a great choice to accept it cause they seem really on the ball and actually care about how their business is run.
confused
Can anyone tell me if I am crazy? I went to sign on to my transcription platform this morning and my antivirus program detected a trojan in one of the files that it uses. I was told by company that I would have to deactivate my antivirus program while I worked so they could run their software which I was assured contained no virus and then anytime I needed to look something up on the internet, I would have to log off and reactivate my antivirus. I have never had this problem until this morning and am I crazy for not wanting to deactivate my antivirus?
What are you confused about? nm
x
Ok, maybe I am confused are you all sm
saying that Acusis bought out DRC or the other way around or what? I find your posts extremely interesting. Inquiring minds want to know. Perhaps I am not involved in these boards enough to know what is going on??? Call me uninformed.
Okay I'm Confused
one of my therapists just told me that the Transcription Connection, Inc. we are using is out of Pennsylvania, not Ohio. What? I know for a fact that it is the company out of Ohio, due to the owners name being mentioned, etc. What is my place of employment trying to pull now? My therapists are just livid over the work produced, and how that it now takes 8 to 9 steps to process a report, instead of the regular dictate, transcribe, sign. What a mess. There is a folder at work that has nothing in it but reports sent back to us from the service with no client name, no medical record #, and no therapist name to indicate who the client is. How in the world are we ever going to find out who these reports belong to. I told them I want nothing to do with the downloading, etc. This is going to be fun to watch. My superiors are so prideful that they would never admit that they have made a mistake and continue down this path of DESTRUCTION!
I get confused sometimes when they
abbreviate, because there is TT and TTS (which is a different company).
Yes, I think that's where I'm getting confused too! nm
Confused here. Do you mean you get MT pay for
