Comparing companies
Currently interviewing for employment with both WebMedx and Medquist and was wondering which company I should choose to transcribe for. I am going in as a part-time employee. I would appreciate any and all feedback and help on this very important decision I am to make in the next few days. Thank you
comparing companies
I'd love to hear from employees of Axoloti, Keystrokes, and WebmedX as to which company pays the best line count and has the best benefits for full time employment. It would also be nice to know if their line count systems are accurate and reliable.

Thank you so much for writing and sharing your experiences. It's very helpful to hear someone who's been there, done that.

Incentives Which Companies Offer Them?

Most companies in any business do not offer
benefits for part-time employees. They still have to honor any accrued PTO earned up to this point though.

Some companies offer incentive...

What companies offer FLEXIBLE schedules for
full time employees? I am willing to work the hours required for full time status, but I am in college too and I have to have the flexibility - my schedule changes every semester. Can anybody point me to ANY good companies who let you work whenever you want as long as you get your hours in? And I am not interested in IC - only working as an employee. Thanks!
Which companies offer a matching 401K? nm

What companies offer internship programs?
Please post. TIA
I think most companies offer direct deposit since they may
have MTs all over the U.S. Some companies charge you for DD, some don't. Some companies still mail checks, though will overnight it at your expense. I think the companies that mail checks is a fairly small number.
Which companies offer a 12-hour window to

What companies offer ASR/voice recognition??

What companies offer employee status?
I'm needing to get health insurance through work and wanted to know what companies offer this. I'd prefer a company that required 1000 lines or less per shift if that is possible. The line rate really isn't that important as my main concern would be a good family health plan.
Any leads are appreciated! Thanks.
Do any companies offer insurance that covers IVF? sm
Does anyone happen to know if any companies offer insurance that covers IVF? I have been in this business for nearly a decade and have been doing QA for the last 4, but I would take a job right now with just about anyone as long as they offered insurance that covered IVF. It is so expensive out of pocket, and I really need the coverage. I have even been considering taking a job out of the transcription industry to get this coverage. So, I guess if anyone knows anywhere at all I can get this coverage.. please help!!! I am unfortunately in a state where this coverage is not mandated... so it is very hard to come by... :(
I am not sure if this was the right board... but I thought it was worth a shot... :P
Are there any companies that offer part-time
employee status? I am looking to work certain days of the week, but I'd like part-time employee status? Is there anyone that is currently in that type of situation that could steer me in the right direction? I have a lot experience and am very reliable. Thanks in advance for any help in this regard. I appreciate my fellow MTs and their opinions count in my book.
I asked for more than what I've seen other companies offer.
There was about a 2 second hesitation and then they said yes we can do that.
Does anyone know of any good companies that offer IC status and little ASR?
I'm working for MQ right now as flexible part-time but thinking I want to go back to IC status. I just have this feeling that things aren't going to be as flexible as they used to be. That and I'm sick of all the ASR and getting paid crap! Most of my work is ASR, I'm getting way more lines, but my paycheck is smaller!?!?! Need flexibility and a decent paycheck! Any input would be great from anybody! I've worked only for MQ for 8 years and wondering if there would be anything better out there!
Any companies out there that offer the hospital benefits besides Diskriter
I currently work in-house a hospital but they do not have at-work positions and I would like ot work at home so I wondered if there were other companies and/hospitals that hire at-home MTs with full benefits....besides Diskriter as I have not heard a lot of good news about them and it makes me nervous to apply.
Are there any GOOD companies that offer IC status (and no weekends?) ??
I would really like to work a Monday through Friday job. Plus, I prefer IC status. Probably an impossible combo...
Thanks!
Yeah, and do any companies offer PTO for part time?
TIA
Can anyone recommend companies that offer IC status, part time?
Any good ones out there for IC's? Part time?
Does Spheris offer IC status?
Any help appreciated!
Any companies offer QA/Editor jobs (employee status)
I currently work as an Editor (IC) for a company that pays a rather low hourly rate ($12). I can only be considered for an increase after working 6 months if I average 300+ lines an hour(to $14). Compound this with the fact that there is usually no work.
I find it impossible to do more than 300 lines an hour while providing feedback therefore, I will never get a raise! I am looking to work for a company as an employee who pays well (hourly) whether there is work or not. I'm very concerned about not having enough work to meet my financial obligations.
Are there ANY companies out there that actually offer decent family medical coverage??
Some are just downright ridiculous amounts. Right now, I am with a company that offers decent single coverage but the family is like $750 a month and I cannot just work for insurance. There has to be something left over to like....eat on... or pay bills. Any suggestions out there. I do have over 13 years of experience.
Any companies offer health insurance for part time?
Are there any companies out there that offer benefits to PT employees, such as health insurance?
I know it's a rarity but I know hospitals do.
Are there any companies who offer health benefits to part time employees?
Need insurance.
Companies are hardly offer FT employees any decent benefits so I think is going to be rare to find
them for PT employees. I would love that too, unfortunately, I work too much just to get below average benefits. Best of luck in your search. Honestly, I think the only place you'll find benefits for part-timers is going in-house at a hospital.
Companies w/Escription accounts that offer affordable family insurance??
I realize that affordable is subjective so whatever information anyone can give woudl be appreciated. The majority of Escription accounts offer IC only. Thanks
Any companies offer part-timers chance to buy into group insurance? need coverage ....
I've been looking at prices for solo medical insurance and while I can probably afford some coverage, I'm feeling rather paranoid about having insurance canceled if I actually get sick -- I'm fairly ignorant about what protections may have been passed and may just be responding to other people's horror stories.
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure I want to work full time for any of the nationals ... they seem to have gotten awfully rigid wrt daily line counts within certain fixed hours ... some days I'm simply creaky and hate feeling pressured ... so part time to start seems more reasonable than jumping in with both feet. Any infor or recommendations appreciated ...
Thanks!
Which companies offer PTO for part time employee status, along with contributing 401K, shift....sm
differentials, and incentive based pay plan? I think I covered it all. Mostly looking for PTO as a part time employee. Thanks for your replies.
comparing
I work for Medware and their platform is super easy. I was off quality after 5 hours of work. I'm not sure of the benes, but from what I hear they are quite good. Many of my friends work there as well & they love it.
comparing pay
I've always been IC, so I don't know how it compares to employee pay. I can understand how it would be quite a cut in pay for you. The pay is lower than my other job, but I just find I like it more, so I think it's worth it. If I ever stop enjoying it, then I guess the lower pay will be an issue. I had found that I was so horribly bored with my hospital work that I dreaded getting on the system to do it, so I wasn't making a lot of money anyway. So I finally quit and got this job and 2 others, actually, that are small jobs in interesting specialties. I'm also doing more legal work.
Comparing reports
Knowing I was going on DocQscribe, I kept 10 reports from MTs and their line counts and then pasted them into DocQScribe after I had been on it for a time - compared the line counts and they were almost right on - I had to manually subtract the header information in order to make it come out, but we know that we don't get paid for headers anymore.
I know that my biggest problem is the internet - when late afternoon comes and I am pressed to get done, my line count goes way up. If anyone can figure out how to discipline themselves from "surfing" - post it here - a lot of people would be very grateful.
Comparing schools
I took a quick look at their website, what they offer, and how much it costs. Are you interested in this course because they say they often hire top graduates? This course does not guarantee you a job with them. They even say you have to go out and market yourself.
As an M-Tec graduate, I can tell you that if you study hard and after graduation really stick to it, you will find a good job. You receive a large number of real books with M-TEC and not just some workbook. With M-TEC you have your own instructor to answer your questions and guide you through the course. Not to mention the online classes and vast online resources they offer. They have their own IT expert, who will answer your questions and holds online classes. After graduation, they will always be there to help if they can. They help with your resume, and after graduation they provide you with a large list of MT companies that hire new grads. Make a list of questions, submit them to the top 2 or 3 schools, and compare answers. Good education has its price, but it will also open doors for you!!
that count on none of us comparing notes...
what else can they say when confronted? I doubt much of middle management even realizes how easily their line counting system can be manipulated...
Yeah, it's sort of like comparing - (sm)
The tone was a bit on the stern side today too, don't you think?
I, too love the current platform. Entirely easy & user-friendly. I worry that the speech-rec part of the new platform will turn this into a boring editing job.
Exactly. Even comparing our industry to carpentry.
industry workers have a plan - a set plan and structure for their trades. You progress up the figurative ladder, gaining more skills and expertise, and you get paid accordingly - money, benefits, where to sit on the scaffolding, etc. LOL. Would a man who was a slacker complain and ridicule his peers when they wished they made more money for their skills? Its so beyond ridiculous that its almost funny, right??? Oh, please, dear employer, I don't want anywhere near what i deserve to be paid. I like making peanuts, because I can play games with my kiddies in my jammies and type a few lines now and again...so, no, please don't pay me more to do so. Heck, making more $$, our happy mom poster could even buy little Jimmy MORE games. Would that maybe strike a cord or flip the light switch on??? Honestly.... I can just see the master carpenters having debates about same.
Comparing Cymed counts to Word
I work for Cymed and find that my counts are pretty comparable to what they were when I used Microsoft Word. I've done the same reports in both programs, and they were essentially the same, give or take a space or two. As someone mentioned, they did give you a heads up on not paying for spaces, which I agree doesn't seem fair, considering our thumbs work pretty hard and the report would certainly not be acceptable without them, but apparently you agreed to it.
As far as headers/footers, since I don't have to manipulate that information in any way, I honestly am okay with not getting paid for them. Heck, considering the time I save by not having to name my files, put page breaks, page 2 headings, count my lines, transmit files, etc., I actually am able to get more dictation done in the same amount of time than before in Word.
Curious, though. Since they have several different locations, may I ask which office you work out of?
What I found comparing straight on 1 computer and VR on another....
I was making 30-40 dollars more a day straight typing. i really like the idea of VR it was nice on my wrists but, you are right about the a, an, the, whole sentences left out, etc. I used all the short cuts but figured even with those I couldn't double my line count as easily as it was touted. I don't have 6 months to go down the tube before VR caught on or I did. That is just my opinion. Maybe people with 2 paychecks in their family could do this but I couldn't.
Comparing figs & plums. Advantage/disadvants to

Anyone know of Escription companies that offer IC status. I do not want employee status but would
like to stick with the Escription platform at all possible.
TransTech and Medware, are these companies considered large, medium-sized or small companies? (sm)
TIA
Yikes.. That is only inline with companies like Focus and such. "Real" companies pay their MTs
decent rate. I make over 5 cpl editing. So, if I got that slap in the face, I'd be outta there.
Do the research...most companies, and not just MT companies, do not pay for maternity leave...
we get time off but not paid...and I really don't even understand the point of you posting this...
Well at least you got an offer. How many
years of experience do you have?
