Which shortcut program works best with Windows-based Meditech?nm

No problems with the Indian techs setting you up or any problems with their program? Bud of mine

ShortCut
Download a free version and give it a try. If not I find that PC Shorthand works with just about anything.
Shorthand shortcut
May I ask the name of the shorthand shortcut software you use?
lab techs make WAY more than i do
Let them work weekends. They also get tremendous benefits. Don't call me shallow, dickhead.
Use shortcut keys
I forgot to say you should use all of the shortcut keys.
Alt K will take you to the red block and Alt . (period) will put a period at the end of the sentence as well as capitalize the next sentence.
Try practicing these.
Are there any other shortcut programs out there (sm)
besides Shorthand? I just wondered if there were any others so I could check out their programs and prices. I downloaded ShortHand and it's pretty good but just want to know if there are more programs out there. Thanks!
I use ShortCut for Windows also...
I found it simpler to use than ShortHand (I also had downloaded the free trial and decided not to buy). BUT with ShortCut I have problems having it expand words. I called tech support and he said to turn off AutoCorrect in any programs I have running (I had to re-do my Expanders from AutoCorrect to ShortCut but I'm sure if I had wanted to spend the time I could have copied them from AC to SC). Tech also said to open ShortCut BEFORE any other programs.
Anyways, sometimes ShortCut will not expand a word. I then have to use backspace up to the last letter of the previous word, then space, then type the short form. It will expand if I do this. That is extra Keystrokes that should be unnecessary.
Bottom line, for me is.....I use ShortCut because it is simple to use and I did not have time to learn a new Expander program.
Maybe ANON has fixed this on his/her program. Would like to know.
Of course I use the shortcut keys, but
what do the shortcut keys have to do with the quality of the work that ISR spews out? The whole idea is that we shouldn't have to do much editing!! That is the whole premise behind ISR. But my experience has been one of very tedious time consuming editing that never gets any better. Often times even seems to be getting worse. I'm just giving my experience.
Would you happen to have a link for ShortCut? (sm)
I Googled it & came up with nada. Would be interested in taking a test drive if possible.
TIA
They also recommend ShortCut for Windows. nm

The techs that knew anything all left.
They had 1 guy once that knew nothing and did something that made a bunch of computers crash. I would be very leary about letting them install anything on my machine.
Do they still use Indian techs in India to set you up
s
That's a bit misleading. It is NOT just the IT department. The techs sm
who allocate the dictation files to you nothing to do with IT. If you have a computer issue, they will get someone from IT for you, but Marie and the rest are not part of that department. The ENTIRE COMPANY is based in India. Yes, they hire American MTs, but the company is in India, and they at one point even lied to the MTs and said work was slow due to Christmas (this was in the middle/latter part of January), then one of the techs admitted they had outsourced to an Indian MT company.
They are not the worst company to work for -- the pay is decent and on time -- although I never cared for the way the work was allocated and I absolutely DESPISE the fact that they are now lying and misrepresenting themselves in their ads saying they are based in Kentucky. There is a residential HOUSE in Kentucky owned by the Indian owner. Why not just be upfront about it in their ads?
I've been very happy with ShortCut - simple to use.nm

If they have stuff in weird locations, the techs will

The Indian techs toasted a friend's system when she tried to

You'll have too much down time and their Indian techs are IN India! Pay is late, too. nm

They'd take you on, but their Indian techs and office support makes for an awful way to start you

They're the old Lancesoft, have Indian techs, terrible service, and pay issues. Friend was with

You'll regret it. Indian techs in India, late pay, lack of communication. nm

Does the MQ DQS program contain the ShortCuts program, or do I need to buy it? nm
nm
DQS is not a "Medquist" program, it is a program used by MQ. (nm)

You can't program everything into ....sm
an expander (like you said)...and frankly I've found that on most dictators I do minimal editing of reports because the quality of the drafts is pretty darned good. I usually receive at least a handful of reports a day that I maybe make 2 or 3 Keystrokes of corrections... yet I get paid for editing say 60 lines for the entire report, and move on to the next report. I bet none of you "naysayers" will be fussing about getting paid for not doing more than reading when you actually do editing with a good VR program!
What VR program do they use?
.
bad program?
I agree with low pay, top heavy management, but what is it about the program that makes it bad. just looking for some exact insight unless you mean because of the way it pays out?? hope this doesn't sound stupid.
thanks.
What is NTI's program?

Yes you can download in batches of 5 but to complete one and go to the next i believe you have to be online or you get some funky error message.
Which IM program are they using?
Most of them have security features that you can change so that you may save conversations.
Or I would agree with the previous poster and use the print screen feature. You don't have to actually print anything, but use it to copy the conversation and paste it into Word.
AIM program
I was in the AIM program. Basically you work as an intern and do real work from real doctors with a Turn Around Time that has to be met just like if you had a job. You just don't get paid. I liked Deb. She was a nice lady. I stayed in the AIM program for 6 months and got a job before I even finished it.
You don't say what program you were using or what
foot pedal. You may have a foot pedal that wasn't compatible with your program or you needed to download drivers.
SUM program
Maybe buy this program and work through it on your own?
What is the VR program they use? nm

prn program?
Haven't heard about this. When did this happen, only for some accounts or what, do you know? TIA!
Not from CNS, but another EMR program.
NextGen
I am not sure about the program
I don't time myself by the hour. I would usually do about 2000 lines during my shift. I only did about 1700 of speech lines and 225 of regular today. I get up and down a lot during my shift, so lose some time there, but I have always done that. What exactly do you mean by hot keys? TT pays slightly more than that, about 1/2 of my regular line rate. I get to the end of my shift and cannot believe my line count is so low.
what program do you use? nm

aim program
I went through the aim program recently. I waited 6 months to get a spot, but it was worth it. i was able to get feedback and improve my accuracy and my mentor was a really nice lady. The lady running it is changing accounts currently and when she is done is planning on getting more mentors. You can also look around for local companies who will mentor onsite in the meantime, and then if you don't have any luck, you are still on the list for then when a spot opens up. They do a really good job. :)

They do overstaff with incompetent people, run out of work, then lose accounts to other companies. They didn't care if I starved, so I left. My accuracy rate was near perfect. Don't know what their problem is.
Well that answers everything!

Software is free, yes they have a word expander. They do not, however, pay for spaces and it is based on a 65 character line. The manager I spoke with and the hiring person were very very nice, but the training lady was extremely rude, short, and acted like it was just killing her to even set up training. It was because of the training lady I didn't accept the PT job with them.
Their benefits were okay as well.

Yes. I have a fairly steady supply of work. I haven't run out of work in a long time. A few years anyway. Sometimes it's low but I haven't completely run out.
As far as flexibility. They are pretty flexible as long as you don't abuse it and let your team leaders know what is going on. If you have to leave in the middle of a shift you should let them know when you are leaving and when you will be back.
After all, they still have to cover STATs and when someone isn't working when they should be, they will have to scramble to find someone to do STATs when they come up.
Unfortunately, they are tightening the reins a little bit on the flexibility because some people abuse it. I haven't had any trouble though.
Some answers for you.
StenTel is a franchise organization. Someone buys a franchise from them and then run it pretty much as they choose. When I worked for StenTel out of Springfield , Massachusetts (who designed the StenTel system and then began the franchise), the pay was low and work sporadic. I don't know of all of their franchises offshore or not, but if they do, then you can bet the work will be only the very toughest reports and nasty dictators. The office I worked for only hired IC status, but like I said, each franchise is run differently.

No equipment rental fee - new Dell with flatscreen (nice equipment) and they provide foot pedal. Need DSL or cable - they do not reimburse. All internet based. I do acute care, so don't know about radiology. Line rate for acute care is not the highest, but there is a good incentive. I believe the pay is biweekly but not sure (I am an employee of the hospital through Diskriter, so I get paid directly from the hospital and pay dates are different).
Some answers -
Part-time with them, I believe, is anything less than 32 hours. I don't know how they handle IC, but would venture to say they would not require anything of you the Dept. of Labor would frown upon. There are 2 platforms, one is Merit (very easy to learn and user-friendly); the other, I believe, is ExText, but I don't know anything about it. I do not know of ANY account they have that uses VR.
HTH. Good luck.

I am new to the company, working on neuro, Touchtype platform, and seem to be pretty slow due to entering demographics, switching from screen to screen to enter and find information such as doctor name, patient number, etc, etc, etc. I was wonder if Vscript was better and it sounds like it is. Maybe I should ask them about that.
Are you on the east coast? I am in OK. Kinda' rainy here today.

My supervisor is in Louisville. My account is in California.
I've never faxed anything to them so I don't know if they have a fax #. I pasted my resume in an email and sent it to them.
Good luck.

Deventure - you don't buy anything. No contribution to retirement. No bonuses that I am aware of.
