The only time I tried to apply at Diskriter I had to take a transcription test and it was horrible.
The sound quality was so bad that I just could not take the test. Even though I have 14 years of experience in acute care, they would not hire me because I could not do the transcription test. I would have been happy with just a written, or even a transcription test with better sound quality. I wonder how many people were put off by that. Maybe it was just me.
Can an office/doctor replace you for time off?
I am an independent contractor. Later this year I am having a medical procedure that will put me out of commission for 4 weeks. The doctor has decided to replace me with an in-house transcriptionist.
The office manager there never liked that the doctor asked me to transcribe for him 5 years ago and I'm sure she saw this as an opportunity to get rid of me. Usually, he does everything she says but for some reason, he sought me out way back when to do this.
I was mad at first but now am just sad. It's a portion of my income but not all....what a loss though!

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Had been getting memos quite frequently and now nothing since last week. Didn't want to call the office and look like a boob, so thought I would check here first. TIA.

Breitner is dishonest when it comes to their check mailing and check amounts. Same thing happened to me when I worked there and I went through the steps tracking it down. They ended up cutting me another check (weeks later) - ITS ALL A STALL TACTIC. Find employment elsewhere. This will continue to happen until you leave the company. Good Luck.

Is this the person that assigns all the crappy stuff to the more skilled MTs and gives less skilled ones the gravy? Hope its not my company.
At OSi, we don't actually assign out work
We only reassign a job that someone has started and lost, sign off a job that's been completed but the voice didn't sign off propertly, etc. We do not assign jobs to people. They have certain work types in their profile which is set by the coordinator, and then these work types download automatically, in order of target turnaround time, to the MTs, including to us. We cannot assign all the good jobs to ourself or to any buddies we might have. It is easy to tell jobs that are specifically assigned and we would be questioned as to why we are assigning out jobs if we tried to pull something like that.

Assign doctors and eliminate cp. I know, I know, it definitely would take some
additional managerial involvement but IMHO it would be a w/w situation. Happy transcriptionists, more dollars, happy happy happy

Princeton Transcription out of New Jersey assigns work according to how many minutes of dictation you want a day.

Is it usual for company to assign specific jobs?
I'm just so frustrated right now. I've had some jobs assigned to me that are from one of my backup accounts, not just one but many, and many ESLs, which has really brought my line count down. I know I have to just deal with it, but I'm wondering if this is a normal occurrence. I got hired under the idea that I was on a low ESL account, which my main account is, but not the backup accounts. This doesn't happen all the time, but it is happening more frequently now. Do I have a reason to be frustrated with this, or should I just get over it and accept it?
The main office was in Bolingbrook but they built an office in Yorkville last fall. SM
I think that the owners live in Yorkville, so it was built close to their house. Nice office, just pretty far out.

I don't work in the office and never claimed to. I am just saying that since the new office open
October with everyone of the admin staff in one place, these problems do not occur any more.
Can't get paid in the office if you don't work in the office.
JLG has MT's working at home, not in the office, not to mention working out of state. The mail is the only way to get paid since they have temporarily suspended direct deposit. The only ones getting paid on time are the ones that do work in the office, like the management and people answering the phone.

If the bill is currently in limbo, why would they assign the same bill number to another bill?
I'm not trying to argue with you here and I think that outsourcing is a very important issue that needs to be addressed by congress. What I'm saying is make sure you have all the correct information.

Just out of curiousity, how many of you on this board right now would apply for this job? The pay is less than minimum wage, they supply no equipment and looks like you may as well make yourself available 7 days a week. I am serious here, is anyone that is looking going to apply here?
We have another position open. This is an IC position transcribing for a few acute care hospitals, as well as a few specialty clinics. The position is part-time, requring M-F (evenings only) and Sat and Sun (hours flexible).
All candidates must posess at least 2 years of acute care experience (not counting schooling).
Other requirements are as follows:
High speed internet connection.
Universal foot pedal.
Windows 2000 or XP (NO Vista).
Microsoft Word 2000 or greater (no Word Pad).
MT U.S. based.
MT easily reached by phone or email.
We area reliable company that offers direct deposit. Pay starts at .07 cents per 65 character line including spaces. Raise will be given when MT is on their own needing minimal QA.
