Can someone elaborate on the strict conditions of the contract?

Posted By: I was considering them on 2009-01-22
In Reply to: Same here. - CrankyBeach

The IC contract under which I currently work is very flexible and I've never had a problem with the MTSO except work is a little slow right now so I've got to be VERY flexible to make my lines.

I was considering a few other places to fill in the gap and Fast Chart was one of them.

I'd love more details about how restrictive the contract is and more details about the pay cut you'd be expected to take. Is their salary lower than the other MTSOs?

Thanks for any extra enlightenment you can provide!

It's possible, under the right conditions
I worked for a hospital that made transition to Escription. I went from doing about 1700 lines per day straight transcription to an average of about 3400-3500 per day.

But (and this is a big 'but'), their physicians were by far the single best group of dictators I've seen in one facility. Extremely minimal disorganization (i.e., 'transcriptionist, go back up and add...,' or stammering around. It was also a group of physicians that understood what Escription involved and the quality they put into their dictation would directly affect the workings of the voice recognition system.

So, kind of like what I see posted here occasionally, Garbage In/Garbage Out. If you've got the stammering, disorganized, mumbling, practically incoherent dictators that seem to permeate the field, you might not be able to double your lines. Making all those format changes ('oh,go back up and make this #2, and move everything else after that down' kinda stuff) is really time consuming and sometimes it takes longer to correct those types of reports than it would to just transcribe it.

So, yes, it IS possible to double your line count, but it's got to be under the right circumstances and with the right dictators, IMHO.

Hope that helps.
I believe with pre-existing conditions sm
and signing on as a new employee you are automatically covered under the open enrollment rule. At least that was what I was told when I changed jobs. I had my certificate of credible coverage but the transcription company and the insurance company didn't need it.
I don't know about pre-existing conditions as there
isn't anything I've had to deal with, but I was impressed with how good the insurance was and how inexpensive it was, especially compared to most plans.  The company also provides some benefits free, such as vision, and long/short-term disability.
Was your recruiter truthful about the conditions of
should I be wary of?
Because I despise the working conditions
It's a horrible place to work.
Well, how bout all of us that worked under these conditions
IC and asked to work a schedule and it is not in the contract we signed who have left these companies now report them to the IRS?  I think we would be helping out MTs in the future when some of these companies don't seem to want to play fairly.  I worked under these conditions (IC with a strict schedule) 2 years ago and did it cuz I needed the job.  Ain't there anymore so think I will report them now and maybe this will let the MTSO deal with the ole IRS.  They know they are not complying and most companies know they can get around paying overtime too because of the way we are paid.  Some have gotten caught on that one but not enough.  Its just not right or fair and they keep doing it don't care.  We need to take a stand and be treated more fairly as MTs.  I got nothin to lose reporting my previous company to the IRS and am gonna do it.
Pregnancy is excluded from pre-existing conditions. nm

With recent economic conditions which company or companies

would you say,(for those of you who are happy out there), has/have proven themselves a reliable place to work for MTs? This may include any type of position: IC, SE, or employee, does not matter.  This MT is wondering how you are all doing out there during this crunch, and which companies have stuck by you during this time, and especially now that the holidays are coming.

My vote is for MDI-MD. I have had slow times, but never had to get up from the computer once from lack of work, and they have been more than accommodating about cross-training.  As well, I am flexible with helping out when I am not scheduled or on the weekend. In this job market, I would rather work extra and make sure the patient care is there, than take a chance on losing my job or have to go somewhere and do VR.

Would love to hear some of your stories.  Thanks!

Egads. You're the type who bring working conditions and
pay down for the rest of us because you're soooo willing to be treated badly & thank them for it.
Strict TAT
I think there is work. From my experience, the MTSOs just want the work done within minutes, so they overstaff the accounts to make sure there is never a backlog. Good for them, bad for the MT.
Way too strict about scheduling
x
Very strict. If you have any question SM
as to whether you can make the minimum, don't even apply.  This also goes for when the work is low, they still expect minimum.
Thank you. I DO appreciate it. I do deal with strict QA now...sm
but at least they don't threaten to deduct your paycheck for it.

It sounds like their (Transolutions) QA is a lot tougher now...hmmmm....maybe it's not worth the extra benes...

Thanks again MTMT.
As far as I know, in the strict Muslim
countries, to which Saudi Arabia belongs, women are only allowed to work as nurses or teachers.

They want American MTs because they perceive them, rightfully, as the best, and they are ready to pay well for quality.

I see this as compliment. It is not that Muslim men and women regard every foreign women as immoral. They judge and differentiate according to the woman's behavior. If she is decent and virtuous, she is treated with respect.
I can imagine that there are restrictions regarding clothing, food and drinks, and lifestyle in general, but if we decide to live in another continent with a different religion and culture, we have to respect that.
Do you know how strict they are on their required experience? Thanks! nm
xx
When I worked for JLG, it was pretty strict sm
about work schedules. I did not realized they kept track of my time via the ICQ messenger, which I kept turning off because of persistent, numerous, disruptive, and annoying messages from people on the Net I didn't know. I didn't realize this and had to make up for time they claimed I didn't work but actually did. Maybe it's better now.
Are they extremely strict with schedules? nm
x
They're very strict with their lines sm

You'll get harrassing certified letters and nasty e-mails.  You're required to meet your lines by the 3rd payperiod.  They get really nasty to you too...they were all sugar sweet and helpful until I stood up for myself, and then their true colors came through.

Unless you're a very fast transcriptionist, it's almost impossible to make your lines.  I'm just an average transcriptionist.  I have always been able to make my lines at other places of employment, but never at TH.  They run out of work A LOT (read--nearly every single day) and have a butt-load of foreign doctors.  A really bad combination if you want to make your lines.

Some people love them, but I'm not one 'em!  I'm glad they're ancient history with me.  I work for a much better company now.

Ugh ...recruiter sent me the info .. seems very strict .. thanks nm

Better read the IRS specs first. There are strict....sm
instructions on whether to call a worker an IC or an employee. An employer can be in big trouble for mandating any specifications of a job if he/she is calling a worker an IC. They are starting to crack down on that, too, especially with companies who have several workers. It's about time, in my opinion, that places get in trouble! If you don't put up with it, it will stop happening.
WEBMEDX - how strict are they with their schedules and clocking in and out? TIA nm

I have to work 8-hour strict schedule SM
Platform is either Chartmatrix or Enterprise, average pay, the company is just average all around.  It's not horrible but it also isn't great.  Up until 6 months ago I would have recommended to give them a try, but they have started this downhill slide, feels more like Spheris now.  I have felt this for the last 6 months.  When the job market opens up a bit more I'm going to look around.
While I think it would be difficult to work a very strict schedule at home - sm
I do believe that every MT should have a window in which they are expected to do their work. That benefits everyone involved, the MT, the company, as well as the hospital. I pretty much adhere to the same hours every day, unless something unexpected (emergency situation) comes up. I just think it is easier that way. However, in the summer time, I like to adjust my hours a bit to be able to work in the early a.m. while the kids are still sleeping. I work the same hours over the summer though. Working at home around your family is not easy, so there has to be a little flexibility on both sides. Going to an office to work without your everyday family and life interruptions, I believe, is quite different.
I think the only thing they are strict on is downloading things to the computer. sm
General surfing the web and stuff isn't a problem. I surf the web all the time for medical references, etc... and I haven't ever had a problem. I know that they are strict about not downloading anything to the computer because it may cause a conflict with the software they use.

Hope that helps.
Just curious...how strict is TT about having 5 years' experience before applying? NM

Keystroke radiology - flexible shift or strict?
I have tried searching the archives and found conflicting information.  A few posts say you must work an assigned shift but other posts say work when you want.  Which is it, or is it both depending on the account?
Strict on the days. It depends on the account as to the flexibility. nm

Does Webmedx has a strict schedule or a window to get work done?
I tried searching boards, but too many entries came up. Thanks
Do any companies allow you to edit the dictation somewhat or are you strict verbatim? First time do

Question about SoftScript. Strict schedule, can you quit when you get your lines? (sm)

I saw a posting before that said you were good to go as long as you signed in on time and did your lines.  Is this accurate?

Also, I have seen they are offering 7 cents per line regardless of experience.  Is this still true?

Amphion hires part-time - they're very strict schedule-wise though
Since part time is so hard to find these days your options are limited, so if you don't mind working for a company that is a stickler for strict schedule adherence, I say try Amphion.
Good Company, but yes very strict supervisor or mine was anyway! As long as you meet the deadline
you are safe!  They were strict when I was with them though
Could someone maybe elaborate on why they are

Can anyone elaborate on the
mean stuff this woman did? I have been in contact with her via email and from what I understand after the 45-day waiting period, then checks come every 2 weeks. Did I misunderstand that? Also, she does pay gross line, but I'm not sure 6-7 cpl works out to be 10-11 cpl as she has stated to me. Any more information on her, especially the meaness!, would be appreciated.
Can you elaborate?
I am actively searching for employment and anything you want to share will certainly be helpful to me.  Thank you!
Can you elaborate?
How did you determine there was a discrepancy? If it's just the lag time, that doesn't mean there is a problem with 'lines being counted' per se, only with the amount of time until the information is available. I'd really like to know because I have not had a problem...

Can you elaborate?
Please tell us why .... tell us the positives. Want to know.
Please elaborate
I used to work there and thought it was the pits. Crappy accounts with very heavy ESL. Nasty emails from a VP whose alter ego was a typing cat (or was it a dog?) or some such nonsense. QA person with superinflated ego. Newbs promoted to QA in months (and by newbs I mean new to MT, not just new to the company). I could go on and on. Nobody knew anything about the benefits and I don't even know if they had a human resources dept or not. Please do tell how they have suddenly become great, and I'm not being sarcastic.
can you elaborate?

ELABORATE PLEASE!!
Seriously? Please give me some details if you don't mind because I have just started with them, but have had major computer issues and am thinking of throwing in the towel. Which team were you on? I hate the fact that the recruiter hired me for clinical when she didn't even know it was acute care/hospital work or she lied! I must admit, I have the same feeling you do. I have only been working for them about three weeks and it seems like three years!!!
elaborate...
You complimenting or complaining? OP makes perfect sense to me.
Please elaborate....
All you say is, no good...all bad and ugly.

That doesn't offer the OP (or any of the rest of us who'd like to also know) any information whatsoever to enable him/her to make a decision on whether or not the company would be good or bad for THEM.

Your post is of no value to the OP or the rest of us who are looking.

I'm asking that if you have any information on the company on WHY you say it's no good or bad and ugly, would you please elaborate on that?

What is bad and ugly to YOU may not be what others consider to be the same.

to elaborate...
Upon being hired I was quoted line rates, counts, etc.  These turned out to be false and the recruiter informed me she was not a recruiter so I shouldn't hold her accountable for misquoting them to me.  Their platform does not give you anyway to track your progress or verify work that you have done.  You can check line counts but there is no way to go back and check what work you have done.  So when my line count actually went down by 50 lines while I was logged off eating lunch, that sent up yet another red flag.  And with the platform there was no way for me to go back and manually check each report.  Lots of miscommunication and half truths and the recruiter and trainer will tell you completely conflicting things about how things work there as well.  I took a job with them against the recommendations of many, many MTs on here.  Check some older posts.  Looks like they were right.  I didn't stay long.  Hope that gives some insight.
Elaborate, please
They just requested a phone interview with me, and I'd love more info about the company, etc. TIA.
can you please elaborate?

30+ need to elaborate.
I love it there. Of course, anything that is said positive about any company is completely ripped apart by the posters on this board that there is really no use in saying anything.
Could you elaborate why? Low pay etc
Just curious as I was contemplating applying
