Can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on sample radiology dictation as well as tell me what

companies would hire someone with no radiology experience.  I really want to go into that particular specialty.  Is the equipment for this field any different than acute care transcription or any other specialty?  What is typically the pay for this specialty?  How much training should I put myself through in order to get hired?  Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

The other poster is right about a sample

I used to transcribe SS Disability cases for a friend/attorney and they were gastly. They took place in a room with high ceilings (guessing here) and the echo and muffled conversations were so bad, it would take me forever to do them.

He wanted the transcripts done with Q: (question) and A: (answer) with double space in-between. Made half decent money but it wasn't worth my time. Thanks heavens, my transcriber went on the blink. It was the older larger tapes he used, and I only had that transcriber for his work. I never bought another one, so could never do his work again. LOL

sample reports

Does Transtech have sample reports and normals to go with all those ESL docs?

sample reports
You can look up a doc's previous reports to help you understand him or her. You can also send reports to QA and then look at their corrections or filling in of your blanks until you get used to the docs. I've been doing this for 25 years. You will never get away from doing ESL dictation. Acceptance helps a lot.
Thanks for the replies, everyone . . . I wish there was a way to just sample how VR is done before
taking on an actual job doing it - I wish I could try it out to see what I was in for:)
I've tried just a couple but one bad one is enough. Here is just a sample..

MDI-FL, TransHealth, Precyse, Focus Infomatics... and I just started doing this at-home thing for a little over a year. What a bad deal.. I've been turned down by Spheris and Wedmedx because I did not meet their qualifications, although I have been doing this for 13 years with approximately five in acute care so go figure. I have worked for hospitals locally etc.. I thought working at home would be a good change..NOT.. what a nightmare, terrible supervisors, benefits, low pay, disorganization and much, much more. I may have to go back to the hospitals.

I need sample dictations with their final notes.
Hi,

Can someone suggest me a place to find a few sample dictations with their final notes, so that I could evaluate myself?

thanks

philips

(sorry) I guess I got cut off. Anyway, there are sample brochures there you can use. You will stil
There are also sample contracts there for you to review. It took me about 3-4 months of research before I could even start buying equiptment. Everybody is willing to pick up tapes, you have to offer a little more to be able to get your foot in the door, or at least I did. Check out the technical and equipment boards. There are some discussions about converting from tapes to digital. There is also some good information about line counting software. Check the archives. Again, research, research, and reseach some more. I have a notebook set aside with all of my info. There is also a very good book, The Independent Medical Transcriptionist. You can get it really cheap on Amazon. I thought it was very helpful.

Good luck, (unless you are trying to get business in my area...HA, HA).
Insist on sample of prior reports, lots of them. Then when you see it, sm
you will say, Oh, so that is what he is saying.  Then, put it in your expander.  Phrases work the best for me, not normals.  Phrases in the Expander for what each item these guys use.  But you need to see lots of samples of prior reports.
Do they provide sample documents? If so, it may be worth a shot. nm

I love it. Expander is built into it, as are site notes, sample reports, splchk. nm

Keystrokes has the best radiology accounts IMO. I have plenty of work and radiology only. nm
I make a good living and rarely run out of work. When I do, it is for a few minutes at a time and usually because the rads have not started early enough. No other complaints!
Keystrokes for radiology. They are the biggest for radiology out of all of the companies out there.
I have been there 2 years and have been very happy. I make a lot more money than when I worked for Edix/Spheris.
Keystrokes has a radiology division. They used to be radiology only but their sm
customers started referring other departments to them.

I know that they just got a bunch of new accounts!
For radiology, Keystrokes is the way to go. They seem to have the most radiology accounts. sm
I have been very, very busy since starting with them 19 months ago. No complaints at all other than one or two of the radiologists who speak at the speed of light and expect us to be able to transcribe what sounds to be a mouse on a treadmill!
Hands Down, it's......
Amphion. I worked for HealthScribe, and as it turned into Spheris, it seemed more and more work went overseas, more and more perks were taken away, and more and more MTs felt like cattle. I admit, I have not had experience with Medware but I've heard good things about them, too. If you want support staff that supports and genuinely listens and cares, then Amphion is the place to be. Amphion pays higher cpl too, for experienced MTs.
Please do. They need your hands!!

DQS was the best hands down--sm

I worked on DQS for 6 or 7 years with MQ.  I never had a problem with sound quality unless the dictator was doing something to mess with it, i.e. cell phone, not holding the phone up to his mouth, holding the phone too close.

I have also read complaints on this board about the sound quality with other companies, and I know that 1 company in particular handles the MQ overflow.  I think maybe they re-record it or something when they download the work to that company.  I'm not sure, so I would probably stay away from that company.

Other than that, I think DQS is excellent.  It's definitely built for speed!

Transtech hands down
:)
wow...you definitely have your hands full...
I have a 2-year-old daughter at home with me while my 9-year-old son is in school...she is fairly good about playing by me, et cetera, so really I think I have it easy as far as she is concerned...but I am most productive while she is napping in the late morning...since yours are so little, I would say waking up before they get up in the morning to work, working during nap times and then possibly later on when their father gets home from work so he can help take them off your hands for a bit...good luck...it is hard work but it can be done...
Wow! How are your hands still holding out
typing that much for that many years! After 10 years, my hands are killing me after half a day. I used to be able to do that much, but it hurts too much now.
LOL! Someone has too much time on their hands
I think that is stretching it a bit far. Too funny.

I feel like in am in 2nd grade again.
Hands-On Transcription Company

Any information on Hands-On Transcription Company?  Any information greatly appreciated!

Mary K

Transcription Connection hands down.
Logs, logs, more logs, spreadsheets. Everything done manually. Tons of scanned patient lists. Even had to look up addresses so the husband could do the envelopes. Insist you count every report with the Word counter (a ripoff). 1/4 of your day spent on crap not included in your line count.
Any and all info on Hands-On, por favor...(sm)
They are advertising right now and was curious if anyone has any experience working for them.
Anyone know anything about Hands-On Transcription Company? sm...

Would love to have all and any information available about Hands-On Transcription company.  Would like to know if pay always arrived on time (supposed to be every week), if the accounts were good, and if you got paid by gross line or character line...please, important decision and any and ALL information would be very, very helpful.

Anyone heard of Hands-On Transcription?
xx
Yes, I know. Our hands have been tied. I'm sorry for all involved. :( nm
.
Transtech, hands down. Don't know that much about MQ but was offered a job there when we got out
E-mail if you need more info.
I have 30 years in and don't make $25K. Hands sm
have taken a beating over the years. The best I ever did was when I was an IC and worked a minimum of 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, 4 hours on Sunday. No social life. No life but MT, really. That was when Clinton was President, all MT work was kept in the USA (tough keeping up with the demand then!), and MT pay was tops.

Nowadays, an MT cannot count on a regular income. So many pitfalls--company buyouts, sellouts, offshoring, lousy technical quality, docs dictating on cellphones, etc.

Hands on Transcription contact
Do you know how I can contact them?
You got that right. Focus has their hands in all kinds of
cookie jars. I'm glad to know this though. Considering a QA position with them.
