There is something in the law called a mechanic's lien which allows a lien to be placed when services are not paid for. Perhaps she could file something like this. I still think a firmly-worded certified letter advising the perps that they are going to be reported to all relevant licensing bureaus, the IRS, the labor board and the attorney general might scare them. I wish she would post their name here, just to warn away other MTs. The behavior of that MTSO is unconscionable.

It could be that they have misclassified her as an IC, in which case the IRS would really be interested, too, as they are currently cracking down on companies that classify people as ICs in situations that do not meet the IC standard.
