We aren't being paid fairly. Used to be an honest wage for an honest day's work.
We, us lowly MTs, have been pimped out for long enough. The MTSOs may be working to get more accounts - but only so they can make more money - no thought at all to the MTs they have hired. Medical transcription for years allowed us to have some pride in our work, our profession, our right to earn a decent wage and the desire to keep on top of our skills, become better, and even perhaps gain more education though what we have acquired for skills through education and experience is pretty subsantial. The MTSOs created this. MTs didn't ask for the MTSO to decrease their pay, even though we work long ours, get no raises, work holidays and all kinds of shifts to pay our bills. The MTSOs created this nearly now hostile work environment . Working from home is six of one and half dozen of another. Most of us play well at work. We can work outside of the home. Management seems to think this is such a bonus to work from home. We have increases as MTs working from home with our costs for virus protection, utilities going up and the cost of maintaining our equipment. The MTSOs have finally with their rush for VR and then the cut in our wages to repair now the reports we can type more accurately with our same skills, training and experience and evidently be grateful we have a job.
MTSOs, you made your bed with the greed to keep profits and if that is not the case, you didn't fight for the MTs to convince your clients we are skilled professionals that desire a decent wage. You may think you are superior and we are the worker bees, but you may very well lose what is left of us as a profession, ose your MTs if we cannot make a living or feel good and take pride in our profession again before we move on. Guess you can send all your work to India, not just the 15% you do now.
Yes, we do have other skills, we are strong, dilligent, hardworking, intelligent and evidently we are quick learners. A lot of other professions and employers would want us and then again, we always have the option to return to college and change careers cuz you don't make this one too appealing any longer.
