I think you're right - a revolution.....sm
not just Heartlanders but what's happening in this country is a sin......workers of the USA should all unite......there is SAFETY in numbers so if THOUSANDS got out it would/might make a difference.
No buying anything on July 7th...is merely a start but I'll not buy a thing on that day!!
Time for a revolution (sm)
My husband keeps asking me why, why, why we just sit back and accept whatever is tossed out at us like we have no other choice. He thinks if we experienced transcriptionists banded together and refused to work for slave wages, they would have no choice but to be fair. They do need us, even though some of them want us to think they don't. VR is a fantastic concept, if only it worked the way it's supposed to. I'm sure there are people on clinic accounts or specialty accounts who do well because of the repetitiveness of the reports, but I find it to be a complete joke on acute care! This opinion comes after a year of using every so-called trick and keystroke shortcut there is and still feeling like a trained monkey trying to fix a mess. Even if it got every word right (which my program doesn't do even with clear-speaking MDs), there's still the matter of formatting, numbering, punctuation, etc., etc. There's no way on earth you're not going to be slowed down when you're having to fix every other word in a report. Rarely do I see correct vital signs and 2009 still prints out as 2000 nine (duh!!) The same errors are made over and over, so it's obviously not learning from its mistakes. Yes, I'm a little bitter, but I have 20+ years' experience and my salary was sliced in half last year because of this. I would love to hear of any magic formulas anyone has found, but I can't see VR making any progress with acute care. I'm currently looking for a job completely outside this field just so that I might possibly get my self-respect and self-esteem back. It just seems so wrong to do people this way and I'm in total agreement with anyone who wants to refuse to accept it anymore. I don't know of any other field where highly experienced workers have been reduced to ground-floor wages. I certainly understand the need to pay bills and eat, but I do believe we could get closer to what we're worth if we all stood our ground. JMHO
Yes, it is going to take a revolution and I fear it isn't in the too distant future. nm

Bingo!
They will just ignore the question. Maybe now is a good time to ask the taboo questions being that they are supposed to reply to all emails within 24 hours. There is to be no more ignored emails or emails that supposedly went into the black hole.
Bingo!
From reading these boards, I am finding it is probably best that they didn't hire me. Not very good comments so I guess they did me a favor. After working for 4 and 8 cents respectively (editing versus straight), and with 15+ years experience I am finding that I am worth something. Just have to find the right company who appreciates that. Thanks all for your replies.
Bingo!
I gave up trying to reason with them. They don't want to be reasoned with or have things explained to them by those of us who actually do VR. They want tea and sympathy and coddling and coaxing, which I've no time or desire to provide.
Let them all whine their way to the unemployment line because eventually VR will be mandatory for every MTSO.
I love TT, and I can't stand to sit idly reading these ridiculous posts without defending them.
And prepare for the onslaught of posts accusing me of being management or lying....In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

This thread has made me think that my efforts are in vain for the majority. I'm thinking I could put my time to better use.
Bingo, ladies, I'm right there with you
I've never been a speed demon, but yeah, I remember the thrill of finding stuff. I was the go-to gal in the office years ago because I loved the thrill of the hunt....
Bingo. You won 100 bucks.

BINGO! You have just described the MT business

Bingo. My company's been asking some of us to
to continuing to transcribe, or else to learn VR. I simply WILL NOT DO IT, because I know that by doing either, I'm training my replacements.
I say let them learn not by my experience, but the old-fashioned way like I did, through the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS.
Bingo! You hit the nail on the head! When you find sm
a new job, please invest in references or you'll end up fired from there, too. Not any one of us can say we know everything there is to know about the medical language. I've been transcribing 33 years, and keep my reference books updated. I'm in a 99-100% QA category, too, so please heed my advice. This is where your problem lies, not with the account or the company. You need to keep growing, and you can't do it alone. Good luck to you!! :)
Bingo. I cannot contact 130 people individually
even though I would love to.
I am not a recruiter but an Editor and was doing a favor, so I'd go broke contacting every one of the people who applied.
I had no idea this board generated such popularity.
Thanks MTStars
