and have their not be a lot of work on the account your on. The only Escription account that has extra work is the one in which the hospital had them agreed NOT to send their transcription to India. Otherwise, we have to share our work with our partners as they call them.

DARN STRAIGHT... and as soon as the Indians are forced to work weekends,
then I will. I used to have plenty of work for my early morning shift and now none. Why? NOT BECAUSE THE CLIENT DOES NOT HAVE WORK AT THAT TIME......
BECAUSE THE INDIANS TOOK MY WORK. They get to work days and have off nights and weekends becuase us PRIMMA DONNAS are here to suck hiney and say *I will do it cause the client needs it*
WAKE UP!!!!!!! The world is laughing at you.
The company I work for does it, to keep all accounts in TAT, can be frustrating but most of the time
am just happy to have work. I am not sure, but I think I work for the same company as the previous poster, and I'm going to stick it out because it does seem to be getting better lately as I think the accounts are better covered now. If I were you, I would ask what the deal is, who knows, they might give you a straight answer or change your accounts if they find out you are unhappy, you don't know until you give it a try.
So if Transcend uses Indians for weekends,
they have Monday through Friday only positions available for US employees?
more $ for night and weekends
0.005 per line from 6 pm to 11 pm. from 11 pm to 6 am 0.01 per line. How the heck can we keep track of this stuff? More time will be spent calculating the time sheet than earning it!!
If this is true that you offshore only for night shift and weekends, then PLEASE
explain to me the statements in your SEC about going to 35% by end of 2009 and the plan to continue to INCREASE the amount you offshore. How can those be the company's goals if you only offshore nights/weekends when you cannot find US MTs to cover? I can't make the two mesh in my mind. I have seen this question asked a few times now with no response. One of the posts even vanished from the board, which I found quite disturbing in and of itself. If someone at Transcend would address this, I might feel a bit differently about their offshoring, but when they continue to ignore this question about their own statements, it is very unsettling.
I also saw a Transcend MT post and say they DO work the night shift and they canNOT make their lines because they see their work vanish around 10 p.m. nightly. This would suggest that the work is TAKEN AWAY from the U.S. MT and sent to India, when there is a U.S. MT sitting there ready, willing, and able to work the night shift. If you want the confidence of MDI MTs, then PLEASE give us straight answers about this hugely important issue.
We have also repeatedly asked if we would be able to have SE status, maintain our flexible scheduling, which is imperative for some of us, pay range, line definition, insurance questions, etc., and have received NO information, only vague statements about the foreseeable future, a case-by-case basis, etc. Surely Transcend knows what their insurance plan entails, what their pay scale is, how they definie a line, whether or not they have any intention of honoring our current pay rates, whether or not they intend to allow us to write our own schedules or work a set shift, or keep SE status.
I can't for the life of me believe that NONE of these issues were discussed between the two companies before the merger, nor have they now been discussed when the questions were specifically set before them by the MTs and again reportedly brought to Transcend by Carlotta. And yet we STILL have no more information than before the original conference call, only very vague statements. So no, this does NOT inspire confidence to stay and give Transcend a chance.
I can deal with just about anything if I am given the facts and the truth. It is the mushroom treatment that I simply cannot abide.
Just a matter of time - the Indians know they are being short-changed. nm

I have been running out of work with them also...frustrating! nm

It is frustrating for me to see ads when I do not have enough work. However, they are great sm
people to work with, and I have been happy for the most part. They use Wordscript, which is a Word-based platform and very easy to use. Pay periods end the 15th and the last of the month, paid by direct deposit. There is no set pay day, but generally I am paid within a week to 10 days of the end of the pay period.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Well, I'm going to get a part-time job at night doing something (sm)
completely different from MTing, like a waitress or something. Surely the company I work for can't stop me from that.
Nice people, agreed; very frustrating to work for, though.
I have to agree that the people are very nice. That's about as far as goes, however. The platform is clunky (We're working on a new one has been the constant refrain for years, with no real sign of it's birth anytime soon).
To answer the original question, I'm able to average about 250 lph, even with the craptacular platform (mostly due to a few docs with regular patter lending themselves to a lot of canned text); that said, I would likely be getting 350 lph or more with similar effort elsewhere.
Back on the negative side, however, the communication there sucks. Maybe 1 in 10 e-mails to management is acknowledged, let alone answered.
Very frustrating.
Tons of work on Enterprise. Should be last frustrating. Good luck. nm

I know that if you are evenings or weekends, you can be part time. sm
I went back full time but that was what I was looking for. I have a friend who works there too, and she is part-time. She works Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Let the Indians work holidays for OSI
$*#@^%
I agree, no Indians work for this place.
too many Indians and not enough chiefs monitoring work.
LOL
Americans edit Indian work, never Indians
I was asked to sign something that said I would not tell that I edited Indian work. I would not sign that. Indians cannot edit Indian work.
duh
Americans have to do it.
Focus Infomatics uses Indians to edit Americans' work
They do make mistakes. But if you point it out to them, at least they are willing to learn, they don't get all huffy like Americans do, and the Americans should have better grammar, etc. in the first place!
night work
I realize you're only talking about evening into early morning hours here, but there are some things you may want to consider:
If you're not used to staying up late, at first you may find it easier to fall asleep as soon as you get home because you'll be exhausted. But once your body becomes used to this schedule, I would count on 1-2 hours of unwind time before you fall asleep after getting home. Been there; done it. Then add 7 to 8 hours of good, sound rest before your daughter needs you.
Breaking up your sleep pattern will not be good in the long run because it will take its toll on your health. Naps are okay for short-term use but you really need deep, undisturbed sleep to function well, stay healthy, and not be irritable all day. This advice comes from my college Psych class and personal experience over many years. And as I'm sure you know, a special needs child takes extra care and that in itself draws on your mental and physical resources before you even head off to work.
If you're someone who can't stay up past 10 or 11 now, your production is going to suffer while you fight sleep. It's going to take time to try to re-program your body and using stimulants like coffee or caffeine to get you through your shift takes a futher toll on your health and might make it harder to fall asleep once you get home.
If you think of yourself as a night person you might be able to make this work. If you're not, I'd think twice. You can't really change your body's programming. The best you'd be doing is compromising it. I really don't think the money is worth the trouble you're headed for if this would not come naturally to you. If I were you, I'd look for a schedule that works WITH my body's timing so that the whole time is spent producing when I am physically and mentally naturally at my best. Your increased production during this time could meet or exceed the $17.
Hope this helps some!
No work at night either. sm
The only time my account has work, if I'm lucky, is Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday and usually during the day. By the night time on those days the work is usually gone. On Monday it is usually gone. I took another part time job back in March and I'm glad I did.
I worked last night and never ran out of work???
not sure why some are and some are not. Hmmm...maybe those running out are not staying signed in?
I pulled eve/night so that I could get work...sm
NADA NADA. Left after my 2-week training.
They probably work night shift to get 10/5.
From what I was told, everyone is given the same rate regardless of whether you have 2 years' experience or 20.
Run out of work every single night.
Can hub's work safely if your daughter is up at night,
s
None, unless you work both weekend days on the night shift. nm
n
I work 2nd shift, and I ran out last night -- never has happened on a Sunday. nm
I made that working for a national...O/T, weekends...no live, now no O/T or weekends(sm)
so no more big bucks, at least from them...looking for second job to make ends meet, don't have husband to help...this sucks.
Some may want to work weekends. A lot don't.
for that rate of compensation. There was a time 10 cpl was average to below-average rate working Monday through Friday. Then it started changing to working at least one weekend day to make that kind of rate. Now it's the whole weekend, EVERY weekend on nothing but ESLs just to make that kind of rate. I'm not the OP, but I think that might be part of the complaint when s/he says it's a bit rigorous and might be time to leave.
I do ER and don't work weekends. nm
I do ER and only work weekends (PT)
:)
Do you have to work weekends?
nm
Well okay, so you don't work weekends and
I was saying we don't get paid what doctors get paid.
Me too except I do not have to work any weekends. nm
nm
That's the only way I'd work there, no weekends.
x
Yes. I work weekends.
xx
Don't think there was one. And they really wanted you to NOT work the weekends, too, unless you
s
Great if you like to work weekends
with no chance of getting time off - seems once you are in a schedule that is where they keep you.
let the people who want to work weekends do it
Some people want those shifts but i do not
??? some people do work weekends and some don't
why so rude and grouchy?
I always had to work two weekends a month. nm
nm
I was hoping to work with them on the weekends. I
tested the other day and went onto the second part and hoped to hear. But have not heard a word. Kind of disappointed. Have heard really nice things about this company and they said I'd hear Monday. Guess I did not do as well as I had expected on the typing test. Good luck if you try and get it.
Believe me, you'll work weekends so don't
go bragging just yet. Chances are M-F will find you running out of work.
work weekends or nights.
nm
Be realistic. Someone has always had to work the weekends (sm)
Used to be in house we floated them around until you had enough seniority to opt out. Sometimes we got extra people to work weekends. Now we have so many newer MTs who have never had to work in house and put up with holiday and weekend rotation. Not blaming them, of course none of us want to work them. But because we don't/won't work them or the really crappy night hours, MTSO have resorted to using other means to get the work done.
We, and our preference for M-F day shift schedules, have contributed to the outsourcing issues. Like it or not. We have done some of this to ourselves.
Have been doing MT over 30 years and paid my dues as far as weekends/holidays go, but I am still working a Sun-Thur schedule and find a way to make it work. Have never had a problem flexing my schedule around on a Sunday if something comes up I want to do or take a PTO.
This is a real job and if we are not willing to work when they need us, perhaps they won't need us any more.
Yes, it's true you do not have to work weekends/nights
They let you choose your own work schedule when you start. They use Dictaphone with Word. It takes a bit of patience to get used to what you're supposed to do as far as finding the right visit or if the doctor inputs the wrong work type, etc., but as a program in general, it's simple to use.
Are you requied to work weekends and/or holidays
xx
I work Mon-Fri and occasional weekends as needed but have done this
by choice. I have never been forced to work a weekend. I am a high producer. I don't complain or take up any time of my Lead. I have only had one report rejected ever on this account and it was transposing patient numbers. I double-check now. I started at $1.10 per report, make $1.25 now and $1.81 per report for holidays. I only worked one holiday last year, the 4th of July, because they took volunteers first.
I am FT days but will work in the evenings if needed. Those days I have had 200-250 reports so it was worth it to me, but I try not to so I don't burn out.
It depends on the account. I do not work weekends. nm
xx
I don't work weekends or holidays. MT FOR 10 YEARS
NM
Lots of people work PT on the weekends
as a second job, so no, all full time people don't have to work weekends.
If you want to work the graveyard shift, weekends,
and holidays, then have at it! But don't others to want to do that too. Some of us have a life. This job doesn't pay well enough to go through all that. If they want to pay me as much as a nurse, then I'll work those horrible shifts like nurses do, but not for the lousy wages they pay MTs these days. No thanks. I'll be at the lake on the weekends & holidays and enjoying dinner with my family during the week! You're more than welcome to work the crap shift if that's what you think you deserve.
