I think you are right. I cannot go through one of these financial roller coasters again. What concerns me is we still do not know why the work was so low, so I am afraid it could happen again. I really do like MDI but I am going to keep my side gig just in case. It beats having hot dogs each night for dinner! I am hoping that whatever the problem was with MDI, it is resolved. We can only hope. None of my e-mails were answered and because I became so fearful for my income, I took on the second job. I am hoping it will work out all right for everyone.

Better to be safe than sorry
put a note next to your current employer's name or supervisor that they are only to be contacted if negotiations with you get serious. I think most employers in the MT business can appreciate that. It can happen that if your supe thinks you are going to be leaving soon that you may find little to no work is made available to you. You are being honest and they will appreciate and respect that. Good luck!
Nothing seems to be safe any more.
Tell that to the people who worked for Enron and see what they tell you. Tell it to those of us who had MQ stock that was worth nada. Ask the good Senator Frist with his HCA stock and insider trading. I don't trust a living soul in that respect these days.
Also, just to be on the safe side....
(going along with what MTing said) when you go to the post office- get the return receipt, but also to be sure to do delivery confirmation so that you can track the order and make sure that it gets delivered and/or request a signature at delivery...that way the company actually has to sign when the package is received by them from the USPS. Both of these will prevent any excuses as to them saying that they never received it back. Better safe than sorry!
HR 1653 Safe ID Act
I did some research on this and it was actually proposed back in 2005, so it's been sitting on the backburner for quite some time. I did email my Congressman and Representative about it, but since no one has re-introduced it, it's not coming up for a vote anytime soon. Maybe if we ALL get on the computer and the phone to our Congressmen and Represetatives, it will come back around for a vote again. So please, take this very seriously - we can complain about our jobs going to India or we can do something about it!!!!!
Yes, it's a Safe Harbor 401k
so the company's contributions are fully vested when made.
Thanks. Glad your niece was safe. sm
I've heard similar stories about 9/11 where people were saved because they were late for some reason or another. At the time, it seemed like a bad thing, but it actually saved their lives.
It's not you. It's the Universe keeping you safe
My mom always said, If it's for you, you will get it. There is something better right around the corner. Good luck to you!
open separate account, put in 25% to be safe.

As youself, "Am I safe from losing my job NOW?"
how far do you think that 6-10 cpl is going to get you 5 years from now?
It is a good place to be. Safe. Reliable. Honest.
Once an MT's abilities are proven, MDI is extremely loyal. In return the MT is loyal. The way a mutually beneficial business relationship should be.
How fast would this happen, would we be safe from losing our jobs
completely to India, now that they are all trained and certified by the former AAMT
Is it safe to ask a company after one year for a raise? Do companies give raises?
