MQ and DSG both use DQS - how do the lines compare? (sm)
I know I have seen posts about sound issues with DSG, but MQ has their own little set of issues too. Just wondering if anyone has found they make lines easier with one place or the other, if they perhaps count lines differently one place or the other?
total lines
I work on extext and that is the way it is done for me to. Just shows total lines for that hospital. But you can get the total lines for a certain period not just that day.
Always cpl times total lines, unless a bonus applies
Once you are totally off training and being paid only by your line rate (cpl), your pay will be based on your two week, total lines typed (cpl x total lines typed). The only time lines per hour would affect you is if you qualify for a bonus. I do not know what MT Level you are (3 or 4), but I believe Level 4 bonus starts after 150 lines per hour. If you qualify, don't try to figure the bonus out. It will drive you crazy. Just be happy to see a bonus in your check!
Do all MTSOs with Ex-Text just show total lines
At my MTSO, when I check the I-Chart site, it gives a total of lines per hospital--no total number of reports or any kind of breakdown to make sure all my reports are in there. The Ctrl-I function shows the number of reports, but the line count is inaccurate and only shows for that day only, so that's useless. Am I overlooking something? I hate being not able to track my line count accurately.
Now that bonuses are paid by total lines per week sm
it doesn't matter what your LPH total is, so you can stay clocked in or out for those little things, as you choose.
Great incentive plan, but based on speed/lph not total lines produced. Works if you are fast.

Before someone hops on and say "why are you living paycheck to paycheck (inside)
I had a great saving account this time last year when the company I had been with 2 years took me off my primary (never would tell me why, just said me being shut out was a glitch in the hospital's system) floated me around (not telling me anything of course) because they were getting a Meditech account and wanted me on it (you wouldn't put someone not very experienced on it would you?). It did not take a rocket scientist to realize as soon as I got the C-phone what had happened. Also 80% ESLs. I spent the whole year supplementing my salary until it was gone and have been trying to find a decent company since. That is why I am living paycheck to paycheck and I hate it. I have 20 years in this business and it is getting worse. Speech is great but not for the money. It just does not justify being paid half. You cannot retrain doctors and I don't think management telling them they need to be considerate to us is going to work. Telling them we are making half just does not move them. They still rumble through files, change sentences, have long pauses we are not paid for, speech leaves out words or sentences so tell me why we are paid half? Also, I usually seach a company before I come on and ask for opinions, it saves a lot of space. I know I sound grouchy but I am tired and scared.
I'm just SO tired of living from paycheck to paycheck, and always (nm)
.
Personally, I live paycheck to paycheck because...
I enjoy the constant worry about how to pay my bills and always getting to say I have some lines to make up so I won't be there. Social lives are overrated. I like getting up at 3:00 a.m. and jumping online so I can wrestle a few more jobs out of the system. I don't mind hearing that my supervisor is on vacation again because I know I will be able to use my PTO to make up for my downtime. It's kind of the same thing. I think Ramen noodles aren't just for college students, and one pair of jeans is all you really need for 3 years. I believe very strongly that all the recruiters and managers in the transcription business are taking wage cuts every year, too, so I don't want to feel like I am asking for more than my share.
Living paycheck to paycheck...it's my right darn it.
you cannot compare
NY with PA. I just left PA at the end of July to move to the Bay Area, South Bay to be exact. It may be more pricy here, but I feel that I have a better quality of life here versus PA. I lived about 20 minutes from Philly.
YOU MIGHT COMPARE IT TO ... sm
walking in a parade, behind a horse ... and picking up the poop after the horse, but earning HALF of what the horse earns, because, after all, YOU didn't generate the poop, but get to clean it up.
I don't think you can compare a sm
vacation schedule wtih the death of a parent!
I don't know what has happened in this society, but folks don't give a rats rear about other folks. Personally I think it all comes back at you.
Or maybe some people have nothing to compare to, so they
think they're getting a good deal. Some people know nothing except what they have experienced. They don't know there's better out there. Some people allow abuse to continue for years because they think it's "normal". Personally, I've never been disgruntled. I've always scored high on tests and been placed on higher paying accounts. However, I don't put up with B.S. I'm going to warn people about the lousy companies out there, but I also put in a good word for the good ones.
Anyone gone from MQ to Webmedx and how does it compare? (sm)
Was hoping the line counts might be more like MQ was before DocQscribe. Any info appreciated.
How does it compare to ChartScript? nm

HOW CAN YOU COMPARE BC WITH PREGNANCY - SM
And this is from someone who has been through both - pregnancy and now status post BC x6 years and counting. The big difference is I CHOSE to have the pregnancy - but I DIDN'T choose the BC - it chose me. I don't see how a pregnancy is a disability meriting 4 weeks paid vacation while the rest of us get crap - I was even told I didn't qualify for PTO since I didn't make the required line count.
I am confused. You can't compare the reports....
unless you turn them in to MQ, then see what line count you get from them compared to the line count you received on the old platform, so these reports would have to be 'standards' or whatever you call them...an operation or something that is the same except for 'fill in the blanks'. I would not work to just count the characters in 'Word'. When that is done, the count is accurate. It sounds like some of the old platforms WERE paying for inflated lines or paying lots extra for headers and footers and demo info, which DQS does not. I am not saying DQS is cheating us...technically it is not... but it sounds like the old platforms paid more lucratively. If this does not make any sense, it is because I HAVE NOT YET HAD MY COFFEE!!!!!!!!WAHHHHHHHH !!
How does ExText compare with DocQscribe?sm
I have used DocQScribe for the last six years...how will I like ExText? I liked DQS and haven't seen anything yet to beat it as for ease of use.
Compare per minute with per line (sm)
I work for Scribes/Nightingale and I was told that per minute divided by 10 = per line rate. Any thoughts as to the accuracy of this comparison?
How do you compare this to Sylcount IV Gold. nm

Anyone able to compare Webmedx to Keystrokes? sm
Does anyone have experience with both Webmedx and Keystrokes? Is either better than the other? Looking for part-time position, specifically radiology. Thanks for any info.
Do you have their benefits, and if so, how do they compare to other companies. Thanks
nm
How does the software compare? MQ has great
software. In fact, I have been offered jobs with other companies, but their software is so bad that I have stayed with MQ. Still looking though.
I'll be happy to to compare them for you. (sm)
Webmedx has a very good platform with many transcription-friendly features you will absolutely adore. I would say it's better than DQS now, plus WMX is honest. I have never once felt I was being cheated on lines. I always felt I was with DQS. I left MQ for WMX a couple of years ago. I immediately raised my income more than $600 a month. I have never once regretted my decision. You won't either.
It is hard to just compare wages....sm
Because there are so many other variables involved - like how many characters make up a line? What percentage of the dictators are ESL? Do you get paid for headings and spaces? All of these (and more!) could end up affecting your cpl (cents per line - if you get paid that way). You could end up making more, earning less cpl, if the dictator is really easy to understand and you get paid for spaces, headings, etc. Make sure you check these out!
Anyone switch from MQ to Spheris and how does it compare? (sm)
Was told their program is similar to DQS and that 50-60% of their employees make the bonuses based on number of lines. They weren't exactly breaking the bank with their line rate offer but stated they make it up in bonuses.
There have to be some people who will share their experiences either good or bad and not just post short negative comments. Specifics please. Thanks.
E-mail if you aren't comfortable posting and opening yourself up for bashing.
I had MediTechn experience, looking to compare it
to DocQScribe.
Anyone use Cerner Classic and how does it compare
to Meditech Magic? Better, worse or about the same?
You know MQ has a great platform. How does KS compare for ease? nm
You can't compare the two - MDI has only statutory employees and contractors
with no benefits. Transcend has full time employees with benefits. I would not believe everything you hear on this board with regard to pay. I make 8 cents per line with MDI, and I am just hoping I wont get a pay cut for benefits
Goodness, they're both awful companies. Why compare them at all?
I wonder how other companies' plans compare at this point in time? sm
Not sure how long you've been with Wbx but this plan seems comparable to what we had previously; however, I know we are all paying more out of pocket - probably for every single plan at every company -in the last 1-2 years.
Dental - I still think it is a good plan but then I haven't needed a root canal.
That's a horribly offensive term. I wouldn't compare some drama

The only company I have ever worked for is Soft Script so I have absolutely nothing to compare sm
it to. I had my own accounts, lost them and so went with the first company to high resistance me! I've been with them a few years now and certainly have had issues but with absolutely nothing to compare it to, I have always assumed this was just par for the course....now after reading all these negative comments about the management and the platform, etc., I am wondering what I'm missing by staying with SS...how much worse is this company than most? Would it be prudent to start interviewing with other companies and if so, which ones are better than SS. I would so appreciate any input....I support myself and believe me if I can find a better company where I could make a bit more money...I would be there yesterday!
3 in total, 1 FT and 2 PT..sm
Originally took on another PT local doc to cover daughter's competitive cheerleading costs. Then, hubby got laid off last fall and took on another national PT to help make ends meet. He now is employed elsewhere, but still have late bills, not to mention never want to be in that position again. Trying to pay off all the bills!!! Feels like I work round the clock, but really don't with lots of breaks and extreme flexibility to work whenever and also be with my kids whenever (and be their chauffeur, mostly!) Good luck to you, it's hard but there is something to be said for security.
Could be because of total lack of sm
professionalism and loyalty to those she worked with if indeed that is true. All I ever heard from her was talking about others behind their back. I never met anyone other than from one other one there who went long ago that did that and it is the worst case of management I have ever known.
Look at the total package
Sometimes a great incentive program more than makes up for low CPL, also a good program, good dictators, how many templates and normals you can get. I knew someone who consistently did over 2000 lines per day and did not work more than 8 hours, doing mostly OPs with ESLs, but they all said the same thing, used formats. She just had to keep making her normals and inserting them. They said the same phrases over and over, so she made big bucks. Once she got used to them, it was a breeze and she was consistently one of the highest earners.
I would just keep checking other companies. I am sure there is something out there for you. Don't give up.
In total agreement
with the poster who stated that being overweight, most of the time is due to overeating because of emotional issues. I am such a person. I am 160 pounds overweight and emotional issues led to my overeating. Surgery will not take these issues away. I was 200 pounds overweight. I have been undergoing counseling and have joined Nutrisystem, where I also receive a lot of support. A long haul? Yes, but I would much rather go this route, then risk my life in a surgery with no definite outcome.
well, IMO total disgraces!!
ridiculous to offer a whopping six cents a line!!! Wahoo!! Are they out of their frelling minds. You get what you pay for and six cent quality is what they are going to get. UGH!! SHAME ON THEM!!!
That's my question. How do you know the total is right?
I'm a TT newbie, so please don't take offense. For the other companies I've worked for you can see the number of reports in the final count, including work types. With TT, I see a client breakdown with total lines. If there's a report missing, I have no way of knowing. If there's a way to do it with Ctrl I, I can't figure it out and can't get an explanation. I don't check every 5 minutes, but I do check my line counts a couple of times a day and this has always helped my production. I don't understand why this is so complicated. Am I doing something wrong?
total agreement
MTs can make the $$ exactly how you stated using expanders. I also stay in one specialty field with the same dictators... but you must be focused on your work and with no expense on gas or clothes, that all adds up to money in your pocket.
Any fool knows that VR is a TOTAL RIP OFF.
How that can be slander, well, only in the mind of an MTSO. Don't want the MTs to realize they are being taken with these LIES about VR, now, would we?
I had 4 accounts total
Primary plus 3. There were times that there was no work in ANY of them. Funny thing is that the *Backlog* would show a certain number but when I'd go in to get reports, there were just a few. Then my primary would get gobbled up by people working on east coast (I'm west-Pacific time), so there has been lack of work in the past 3 to 4 months.
Cross-training did help but the ship had been sinking for some time without our knowledge.
My new gig has no weekends, no holidays, NEVER any VR. No pool, I'm the only MT on the acct. Full-time employee after 90 days, bene's (10 PTO a year) after 1 year. Regular 9:00 to 5:00 Clinic schedule.
Like musical chairs, have to find a place to sit once the music stops or....
My total hours were 85 of which 7.5 were OT. Does THAT satisfy you?
I draw a line at telling you my earnings, however.
No communication at MDI-FL. Total chaos.

They're total flakes. They don't know what end is up.
.
no it doesn't track total for whole day
you have to do each document individually, but also keep in mind that it counts ALL lines, both typed and not typed. So be careful of that, if you aren't getting paid for blank lines.
It depends on total years of
what work type. You can actually make more than 8 as an employee if you make the bonus. I do acute care and make 8 plus the first level of incentive which is an additional 1/2. That is for 1400 lines per day. Some days I make the 1400 and some days I don't, it just needs to be 14000 in a 2 week pay period. There is actually a level above this one too, for 16000 in a pay period.
At MedWare, too, can't do it. You'd have to log in after every report to get a total, but
s
I pay $140 a month total for $500 deductible-WMX
MTSOs like you are total tools.
Try treating your MTs like valuable employees, and not expendable machinery, why dontcha?
