always been offshore. They wanted to come onshore but for whatever reason, they are now returning all work back to India. Get your facts straight. We were not paid too much - heck the MT work was horrible, mostly the Indian MTs but also the American MTs. I could have typed them faster than all the time I had to take to fix these mistakes.

They are NO LONGER an Indian-owned company. They are now owned by Nuance, which is the company that owns Dictaphone, AND in the process of moving all the accounts BACK to the US. Do a search on Nuance and you will be able to get your facts straight, as CHANGE is definitely in the air, and this is a GOOD change, so now is the time to hop on the Focus bandwagon for those of you looking for work, as they are transitioning accounts NOW! I for one say YEAH to Nuance for making this DRAMATIC change!!!

name is not snowball (my cat) or Stanley (my dog) and I am no pet. I am just an MT who is supposed to work part time for the company 4 hours a day 4 days a week but end up working a lot more because the account I'm on is always out of control.

Unfortunately there is no way to search for recent posts other than to scroll through each page. If you use the search function at the top of the board, you can only search archived posts which date from about eight months back. Less than eight month post you really can't search other than going through each page - it's kind of a bummer!!

I don't appreciate your characterization of my concerns as paranoid. I happen to work in this area, conducting ID theft investigations; I doubt very much that you can claim any expertise on the subject, based on your very ill-informed post.
Apparently, you're not aware of the huge Monster.com incident that is still under investigation and that involved the theft of RESUMES.

I personally know the new leads and have worked with them for over a year. All are located here and transition is really happening. But Focus does have to live down the past and let the new show what they are gonna do.

have said the same thing. I don't know how other accounts work, but there is no way to even submit OT on transnet, you can only submit the number of lines.

What if a brand new MT happened across MT stars and saw your post. Maybe it was their first time here? What if they thought - hey, great, an opportunity? On an MT board do you really think Transam associates was a well hidden secret that you happened upon? Isn't one of the biggest asset an MT brings with her/him research skills? One only needs to type Transam Assoc in Google and there you have it.
Think of it from that perspective. Let's just hope some new MT didn't happen along that day and see your post and now is on her/his way to being broke and taken advantage of.

Things are well at QT, despite all the garbage a few months ago. They are not hiring so any information about pay, work load, etc. isn't needed.

The trend was stronger a few years ago before it all came to light about poor quality, the woman in Pakistan who threatened to post medical records on the web, 911, etc. There are hospitals who look for US-only and they are the MAJORITY not the minority. Definitely seeing the tide turn on offshore from an MTSO perspective, both MTs and customers!!!!!

No, they're not losing money....they're gaining!
If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.
ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.
Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!
This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!

Shannon has over 10 years of medical transcription experience and typed on every account we have at MDI. You may have thought she didn't transcribe but that was because she was too busy typing on other accounts and doing the job she was hired to do which was to manage ALL of the accounts. So before you begin to drag Shannon into the line of fire, please do your research. She was hired to do a job which she did very well and she will be sorely missed.

You'd be paying your electricity anyway, unless you live so frugally from the stoneage that you don't require electricity. If you're an SE, you can claim part of that on your tax filing -- if you have a designated room for an office. As well, you can claim any rental fees for equipment -- if you're an SE.
It's your job to make sure what you are typing is correct. Asking to be paid for researching what you are responsible for is as idiotic as saying you should be paid to run spellcheck. Geez.
Virtually every part of the demographic screen is filled in and they provide all the search tools for that. On occasion you MIGHT have to type a patient's name in. Get over your bad self.
If you want to be paid for actual time you spend regardless of how productive it is in lines, then you need a job with an hourly pay instead of production. That simply isn't how it is done. You don't like it? Get an hourly job. Don't like that? Get into a different line of work.
