As opposed to what sort of "panties" she wears normally? Thanks for that mental picture!

I always get a mental picture of that poster
Not to be mean, but I always picture that poster clawing at her face and pulling her own hair whenever I read her posts. All the unnecessary capitalization, the countless exclamation points...I just picture her in my mind having this massive meltdown and screaming at the top of her lungs while ripping out her hair and clawing her face. I don't even try to envision, it just strikes me as being a mini-meltdown and I can't take the post seriously. I write it off to overly dramatic, sigh and move on.
Can we say Devil wears prada...
and did she also add how a million girls would die for this job?
The owner is an unprofessional mental case.
I worked for them years ago. Supposed to be PT to supplement my FT job. Got way too much work (I know with low work flow these days, I shouldn't complain). I sent a very professional and very friendly email stating that I considered PT to be less than 1000 lines a day and that she was sending me too much work. She went crazy waying I was flaming her via email and then called my home phone and left a nasty message calling me a liar and that I should never expect to work for them EVER again.
I knew someone else who worked for Accupro as well. She gave two weeks notice when she resigned and said she would ship the equipment back to the owner after her two weeks. She lived locally to where Accupro's owner lived and the next day the owner showed up at her home, banging on the door demanding her equipment, and told my friend what a fool she was to have quit.
Finally, I had a friend who worked for a hospital that Accupro contracted with to do overflow. The owner was constantly behaving unprofessionally, calling the supervisor demanding to know why they didn't have much work, refusing to accept that the department was simply caught up. When she was reminded that Accupro was contracted to do overflow only, she would attempt to go over the MT supervisor's head. And then would play games with workflow - not returning work to the facility purposely for days at a time.
The woman shouldn't not be a business owner. She is totally unprofessional and feels she owns her ICs, but won't make them employees and got help you if you decide to move on. She becomes vengeful and downright scary!
As opposed to?
Oh, I dunno, working on an assembly line day after day and not engaging your brain at all with a crummy shift and losing your job after years doing this, cleaning toilets, emptying bedpans, stocking shelves at Walmart, handing out fries and burgers, waiting tables and serving snotty people that look down on your choice in professions? I think I will stick with my MT job and think it is about as secure as most these days. I don't see my MT job as boring. I make myself look up new instruments, drugs, and everything else so I learn something new every day.
Yup, get over yourself. But good luck with that newfound profession.
when there is no work as opposed to sm
working overtime. Its their money, they can do as they please. This is STILL America where we can spend as we please what we make.
The answer to this is to get into management so you can go on the trips too! I bet if you were going, you wouldn't complain would you?
ESLs on VR as opposed to English
at the hospital where I work makes absolutely no difference at all, in fact if not for VR and all the ESLs we have now, would probaby be pulling my hair out trying to figure out what they are trying to say. ESLs on Escription is as good as with the perfect speaking English so again, the system you have, how MTs train and the speaker makes no difference in how VR gets it. You need a good platform and then you can make a good salary on it.
liking tax break as IC as opposed to employee
I have a question...I am an IC where my employer took out no taxes whatsoever....no W-2 form, but received 1099-MISC form....ends up I had my tax preparer prepare my taxes today...I ended up having to owe the government for first time in my life...I am single parent claiming head of household. Come to realize no FICA taxes out whatsoever by my employer....usually an employer who gives you a W-2 form pays half the FICA and you the other...just wondering how is it better to be an IC person as opposed to an employee come tax time? As an IC, I received no benefits whatsoever, no taxes whatsoever were taken out of my checks, no overtime, no medical, no PTO AND I owe????? Do IC people usually make more than me or what? She is paying us 9 cents per character line with 70 characters per line with spaces...old fashioned slow down system...C-phone and a book to look up every doctor...??? Am really wondering....how do people on here who state they make past 20,000 per year doing what I am trying to figure out to do? Sincerely

You absolutely cannot deviate from your set schedule. You absolutely must give 2 weeks' notice if you need time off for any reason or need a schedule change. If not, you will be reprimanded like a child. If you want time off, they go by seniority. I was specifically told this by the supervisor when I asked for a day off and couldn't get it, but in the same respect I only gave a week's notice (heaven forbid).
This is a very good company, great pay, great benefits, but for me the flexibility was not there at all. It was just a personal choice. I absolutely need flexibility during my day with my children and surprises that always seem to come up where my husband needs me with his businesses, my reason for taking an IC/statutory position.
I was finding I had to constantly keep making schedule changes, which the supervisor always approved but wanted to be sure I didn't need to make anymore. :) I was pretty much a pain in the butt with schedule changes, so leaving there to take a break and then really evaluate what I needed led me to an IC position, which I am absolutely loving and is working so well for me. This is what I got into this business for in the first place.
Axolotl is a very good company, though. They don't offshore either.
Yes, sort of (sm)
CardioScribes is owned by MediScribes. To my knowledge, none of the Cardio stuff goes to India. However, I think all of the MediScribes does. I'm really not sure why it is that way. I mean, why they don't just send it all to India if they're going to send some. Not that they should. I'm just saying, it's weird.
I do--sort of. SM
It's a hazy window into the future called Google. Try checking terms such as electronic medical record voice recognition front end back end transcription. There's a lot of discussion these days among IT specialists and healthcare institutions about the transition to the EMR. Front-end VR systems are entered entirely by clinicians, provide an immediate record, and do away with involvement of editors, but require training, take more clinician time, and distract from patient interaction. Back-end systems are similar to old dictation patterns and route the VR product through us for cleanup. It appears likely at this point that some institutions will go for one approach and others for the other, but how many jobs will be left is lost in the hazy distance, but even in the best case fewer of us will be needed percentagewise.
Although few institutions have started the transition, a little research should burst the bubble that a home can be found someplace clinging to the comfy old way. The US is definitely backwards in this regard. Change is overdue, and virtually all are eventually going to VR and EMR. MTSOs are very, very busy looking and pushing for ways they (we) can continue to provide needed services.
Bottom line for anyone who wants to stay in this line of work: Become skilled in VR editing and be very ready to learn any other new skills change may require of the survivors. I haven't signed up for coding classes, for instance, but at least an initial introduction course or two might not be a bad idea.
Sort of makes me wonder who is really doing the
posting, don't ya think? That seems to be the intent of the posts, to turn us all off OSI, and somehow I have a sneaking suspicion it is one or more of the unhappy ex's now having fun at OSI's expense!
This is the sort of post that
made me almost reject their offer. The only docking I am aware of is that they do indeed dock you if you cherry pick the work. Which to me, is one of the best features of the company. I find that the great line offsets any clunkiness of the software. As I said before, I am 100% happy working for them.
seems sort of low for someone with your expeience. nm
.
That is sort of hinky.
I've never had an IC position ask for this much documentation. Employee, yes, they do have to verify citizenship. But not IC.
I think you are sort of in the Kool-Aid
This person is responding to another poster from another thread who thinks it is just okay to undermine what we call smart people. A company is hiring ICs to work shifts, but this company has actually subbed work for a national. It's called asking questions, getting answers, and then having someone believe that it is just okay to make money off of us working MTs like yourself. I understand you think this person is heartless, but in essence they are not. This OP is trying to make a point, but obviously you are not aware of the many threads regarding this issue. Take a chill pill! The bottom of the barrell is the company that subs and then misrepresents what they are doing to reel in MTs for a short period of time only to find out that the work runs out. Do you realize how hard it is to learn a new account, and then have it taken from you? I am sure you do. That is what this thread is really about. It is really about being informed of companies and their wrongdoings. It is allowed to be posted if someone is not paid from a certain company, and so it should be allowed to know whether a company is trying to pull a fast one at the expense of MTs that are unaware of this type of behavior.
OK, now that I can sort of understand.
(Sort of.)
I sort of agree, but --sm
I have tried using the archives to look things up too and I have NEVER found the information I am looking for. Others complain about it too, with only being able to find things from two years ago or some such. Everyone always says, look in the archives, but don't use the Google search, but no body ever takes the time to EXPLAIN how to search the archives. Even you yourself say to search the archives using the correct tring of characters, but you do not explain what that is. I have spent the time, but give up in frustration because nobody bothers to help with HOW to search the archives, but just saying *do it*. So a lot of people give up, as well, and hope that someone will just answer their questions, instead of telling them to research it, but not telling them how. That is what makes no sense to me. and that is why I say that nobody wants to help anymore.
Look at the big picture
I know what you mean. I left a hospital situation because of some of what you describe .. no newbies playing though ;-) You will have no PTO or seniority at home and it is hard to work with family underfoot. Ask to have your place changed and get yourself some of those soundproofing earsets that are available out there so that the noise is muffled and you can block out the rest of the world. I can still get lost in a room full of people if I am concentrating .. a blessing to be sure. You will miss the things you are now taking for granted such as PTO and seeing people .. even some of the ones who drive you nuts. Health benefits are not easily available or very good at home either!

I went to affiliates, but it does not list Medscribe???
You are right to look at the big picture, and
you seem very mature. Unfortunately, a lot of us (at least me) who work at home can get paranoid or feelings hurt even though we are professionals. I was a manager in this biz years ago, and upmost in my mind was that my team supported me, kept me in a job and if I had to discipline I did it sparingly and with full research first. I also went about it and ended up usually getting a more loyal employee, because if there were problems, it rarely had to do with the stated issue. As a manager, rather than jumping, it is important to weigh carefully, watch the situation and consider long-term repercussions to being nasty in any sense of the word. So, I agree you are a very professional person and have a high self esteem and you have the right approach. However, not everyone is as lucky as you, and some seek some positive contact, being so isolated working at home. I would say midground is always best. But big picture idealism best for everyone involved. If I had just kept my mouth shut instead of leaving and then talked to the higher up person how there was a miscommunication initially on the interview regarding scheduling, I am sure I would be there for the rest of my career. That is my personal experience. But, at the time, and even now since I have become strictly IC, I never ever want to be put down or disrespected by anyone most especially the person who is supposed to be supporting me as part of a profitable and mutually beneficial business relationship. Just IMHO.
Yeah, it's sort of like comparing - (sm)
The tone was a bit on the stern side today too, don't you think?
I, too love the current platform. Entirely easy & user-friendly. I worry that the speech-rec part of the new platform will turn this into a boring editing job.
Sort of like waiting for your meal at a
restaurant. In the good old days, the second I would light a cigarette, after reaching the impatient point for my food, the meal would come! LOL! Good luck to you! You get to play with that shiny new computer all weekend!! Best of luck!
Sounds sort of like Answer-Med in
Monroe, LA. They keep pets on top of all that.
It's amazing what sort of goodies can come your way
Been there, done that, and just can't wait to do it again.
I ['heart'] the Labor Board!
That sort of behavior was well illustrated by
well back into history, and there are a lot of reasons for it. Partly genetic, partly situational.

If you go to her website, that picture is there with her...
name below the paragraph describing her company. Think she would use a model for that? Lighten up - sounds like you're cooking, too!
Amen to that. I SO get the picture.

You can google it to get a picture of it, but it looks like a
phone and you use it to dial into the a system directly. Usually you are dialing directly into the hospital's dictation system. It has a foot pedal attached. Depending on the company you will need unlimited long distance, unless they have a local number of 800#.
For anyone who doesn't get the big picture
I feel sorry for you.
An IC has expenses that are tax deductible and includes all business expenses.
Internet? ULD phone expense? Office space? Fax? ad nau... Honestly, when did we become a group of elitetist, sefl-serving, uneducated group of independent contractors?
I could go on. Instead I will log off. Entitlism is just not something I can stomach on the 4th of July.

I am an MT as well and have been in this business almost 20 years. There are some who have more years invested in this line of work than I do, but 20 years at one job is a long time, and for those of us who have worked at home in this business for that long, it is very difficult to reenter the public work world IF there is a job out there that we might qualify for.
I agree with you in that the entire industry is suffering and has been for the past few years, but when I see company after company not giving raises and, worse yet, cutting line rates, I think it is time to look for employment outside of the MT world. You won't find a better situation in another MT company. They are all swimming in the same murky water and circling the same drain.
No, it's not just MTs who are being impacted, but this is *MY* profession (or what's left of it) and *I* am being impacted with this company's decision to find another way for me to make even less in my paycheck while everything around me...utilities, groceries, gasoline, insurance, etc....is rising to the point that I simply cannot afford to live any more.
I'm a realist as well, and what I see is an entire industry crumbling under the weight of top-heavy management and slave wages for the ones how pay that management. It's time to move on down the road.
What exactly is different about it? Can you give sort of a short overview?
thanks
They're lying sort of. They are pretty much
100% Indian, so I guess saying they don't offshore to India isn't a total lie. They just have an address in the US, which someone posted previously was actually a residence.
Actually ther sort of offshore those jobs too. sm
There are Indians here on visas that take these IT jobs and get paid half of what an American makes. They're trying to get the government to grant more of these types of visas so they can bring more in.
A month is not long enough to get the big picture
I've been on the VR for almost a year and started with it on eScription and then went to the new platform about 4-1/2 to 5 months ago. It starts out slow and then you gradually pick up and start thinking that it's getting better. But you reach a point when no matter how hard you try you don't get any faster. That's when you realize that you've already achieved the fastest you can go in editing. After about a year, there has been about a 28% increase in line production and even that's not consistent because it depends on the dictators you get. Every day is different. The maximum line increase is nowhere near the 40% cut in pay.
Yes, always good to have full picture.

Is that your own piggy in the picture? It's precious! :) nm

After reading below, seeing your picture, still lauging!
Love it.
then you haven't been in the picture long enough..
Yeah people let loose everyday, but do nothing but whine like little puppies. This person is actually gonna do something about it even if it's for her friend. Wrong is wrong.
It doesnt matter how long her MT friend stayed. I don't care if it was for $300.
Oh, you can SPEAK all you want, have you ever been in a situtation where you had to fight to get your money whether it be $300 or $5000? I rest my case.
Where on the site is the picture located?
Not arguing, haven't started yet. Just trying to get the whole picture here.

You have to show a picture proving you have a door?? sm
Man, that is really getting picky. I would fail that requirement, I'm sure a lot of us would! Sounds like they are TRYING to make it impossible for you to continue with them.
Big discussion a few weeks ago about them wanting a 3 x 5 picture of you sm
and your work space. They are a major outsourcer, as well.
Are there any companies that hire emp status and let you work sort of a split?
I would like to work 6 hours during the day while kids are in school and then about 2 hours in the evening. Are there companies that will allow this? Do they have affordable benefits?
Do the 30 minutes and leave the rest, then she'll get the picture.

A picture/website speaks a thousand words.
Thanks for this input. It is definitely a wake up call.
Just be honest. Put down the shift you're looking for, what type of work, that sort of thing.
Be reasonable in the line rate, or I use "negotiable". Let them know if you're looking for a large or small company to work for.
typos on this board are to be forgiven, but new company's numerous errors and the picture they
painted for our first impression of someone in whom we are required to put practically our entire life details in an email back to them left much to be desired in my opinion (by this MT).
Moderator should REQUIRE mgmt to be identified in some sort of way, so as to be identified as
advertising for their company on this forum by all the praises and such! This ends up to be FREE advertising for companies when their mgmt team do such on this board. We MT's know the whole truth about the company, as we experience it on a daily basis.
I just want to agree 100% that TT is NOT the company it started to be -- and I mean NOTHING like the company it was. It is rapidly going the way of the Q in the method of running the company now -- more mgmt/supes than MT's. Shame, shame. Taking our $$$$ and paying more mgmt-type people when the MT's produce every penny the company makes. Who else does? NOBODY. Dictaphone has all the say-so about all their ExText accounts, ad they have to spread the work around to all of Dictaphone customers -- not saying that TT has not picked up an account or 2 on their own. I cannot put my finger on the problem at TT for the past 1+ years, but it is there.
My main grip is how my line count has dropped and not MY OWN fault either. My fingers are going as fast as they ever have. The other grip is mine is TOO MANY mgmt/supe type people now. Gets very old every time an email is sent out to us hardworking MT's that TT has hired another mgmt team member! YUK Some of these people are real doozies too, along with the new tech people they hired. We had an EXCELLENT tech guy before these 3 were hired and TT didn't take care of him, so he left. He is missed greatly. He can do the work of the total of those 3 techs onboard now and do a MUCH BETTER job at the same time. MT's need/deserve good tech people, as it also has gone by the wayside at TT.
Just speaking the truth as I see it at TT . . . in my eyes . . . been there long enough to have a pretty good vision of the company past and present . . .
