Yes, as a matter of fact I do. sm
I haven't worked for MQ, so they, indeed, may be better than MQ. However, I have countless accounts with Webmedx and still run out of work. I can do all work types. I bounce around on many accounts. I am completely out of work some days. It usually picks up later, but who has the kind of life that they can be around all day waiting for work to trickle in? And bouncing around on many accounts costs the MT.

And there are plenty of similar opinions if you simply look over the archives.
Yep, as a matter of fact
we had plumbers who were on call, had to call them one night with burst pipes inside the wall somewhere, ceiling was falling in above.  Also had to call them out on Thanksgiving day one year after our pump got backed up in the basement guest bathroom, very bad mess (lived in the country then and they were kindly asked not to put ANYTHING down the toilet but the toilet paper provided).  Plumber pulled out the pump and hauled it off clogged up with Tampax and cig butts, yuck, guests were a little embarrassed to say the least.   Needless to say, that little episode cost us about 1000 bucks there.  But guess what, they charge a pretty penny for these services, rightfully so, and although it set us back at a bad time, were glad to pay the extra cost for their STAT service after hours and a holiday.  I know I always got paid well for being on call for the lab, nights and on holidays, althought as an employee.  I wonder what would happen if I would say as an IC, my services will be such and such on Thanksgiving or after 6 p.m. or whatever.  I still haven't been able to figure that one out!   I know with one company I first started with told me I had to work every holiday if it fell on a day during the week when I was scheduled, end of story, so consequently, being naive, I did just that for 2 years with no extra compensation and usually no work.  Sorry for the rambling, just ruminating on exactly where do we stand as ICs as compared to others, such as plumbers, and what is right and where does it cross over the line and what should we as MTs be doing about this, or is too far gone?
    as a matter of fact...
I do. If the work is low, I try very hard not to take more than what I consider to be fair and to leave work for others. I see people scramble to get it all and the quality of the work suffers because people are in such a hurry to get everything they can that they are rushing around and thus making more mistakes. And I for one am sick of selfish people! What makes you think you are more important than anyone else?
you said it GP! Matter of fact, the sm
company that I got laid-off from on Monday apparently reads this board. I got several e-mail messages from the supervisor of Milner. If I were an MTSO I wouldn't give it a second thought, but apparently posting on this board really bothered her and she let me know it. O well, I didn't do anything but post the truth and if they don't like it, then I guess maybe they need to clean up their act!

I guess this particular MTSO saw someone posting the truth and for whatever reason, it really bothered her and isn't even the owner! Just a supervisor.
Katie is still there, as a matter of fact
Katie's husband is the account liaison for one of the accounts. Katie is in recruiting now.
I agree. As a matter of fact,
I do believe that I recognized the very ad you are speaking of as being a company called Intellitype??? maybe (something like that). Anyway, I had wondered why this ad did not state the company name, and it seemed a little fishy to me. Although it occurred to me later that I had seen some negative posts here regarding that company, so perhaps that's why.
As a matter of fact, I'm out of work
right now. It happens everywhere occasionally. Only thing I don't like is, whenever I ask for a backup, I'm told that work is low across the board and to flex. I've seen people on here say, all you have to do is ask and they give you a backup account. Hasn't happened for me.
The fact of the matter is that they don't care about ALL MTs..
I know. I tried it, and it just didn't work for me. While I respect your right to be a cheerleader for this place, *you* should also respect the right of those who just don't or didn't like TT and are sick and tired of hearing about it. Yes, we can skip over the messages, but this board is starting to read like a novelette with pom-poms flying in our faces. The fact that we don't or didn't like TT shouldn't be characterized as being a incompetent MT, either. I'm QUITE the opposite, just tired of their favorite pets games and unfair workload. Let it go, PLEASE!
Matter of fact he threw that in the newsletter yesterday
said that a client asked for offshore work and they complied.

I can't believe any client would ask for offshore help as anal as they are about US MT's.
    I wasn't being cold, simply matter-of-fact. sm
My own reproductive history isn't a factor in my opinion. In the list of medical procedures, some things are necessary for life, others are not, they are elective.

Medical insurance exists to protect you against catastrophic financial burden due to unforeseen medical expenses. IVF is personally chosen, it is 100% elective, and it is done only to satisfy a personal want.

Your last two sentences are so
No company names were mentioned, and no posts need to be deleted. DITTO
I believe that is double spacing for lines, not between sentences. nm

I have 2002, here is how mine is set to double space after sentences --sm
    Open word.

Type a mispelled word, then press F7 to spellcheck.

Click on options. In the writing style box, mine says grammar only. Click on settings below that. Then you can select 2 spaces after a period in sentences.

    Does that work for you?
Whaaat? Are you sure this is English? Your sentences are a word salad. What do you mean?....nm

Definitely need the Sted's Derm&Immuno Words and a Path&Lab Words to do derm. Lots of weirdness!

This is a fact and you might as well accept it for what it is -- FACT !
It would be a sevice that uses ExText, such as Keystrokes, and I don't know who else uses it.  I would think that Keystrokes is as big or bigger than TT now, however, wouldn't you?
    In other words
at least on my reports it is counting each character and space correctly, yet line counts remain much lower on DQS.  Numerous others have posted the same thing here.
    WORDS R' US

Hello-- I do know for a fact that the company is legit, as I live in the same city as the company. Dont know much about pay, although I do remember that they pay by the dictated minute. Hope this helps!

    a few words
I don't know how much you know about the internet but posting in all caps is the equivalent of screaming and you seem to be screaming alot in your post below..

Just briefly, you seem to be posting as an MT, citing your experience with platforms, difficult QA programs, transcribing off the clock - yet you write about concerns that are definitely those of management, getting staff to show up for work, work flow, if you can't work that shift don't apply, we created offshoring so all of you MTs out there… Most MTs I know are concerned with work pools, fair treatment, honesty, timeliness of payroll, quality of dictators, line rate, etc. I have enough respect for the MTs and management that read this board to be able to intuit whether you are an MT or not or exactly what the motives of your post were; maybe to score points, I don't know, but whatever your motive, your post does not address my post at all..

In a very few words without any caps I told the MT asking the question about my experience. My post was truthful and I went out of my way to tell her that my experience didn't mean it would be the same for her and even indicated such things are hard to determine. I don't know if she was an Editor or MT I posted to warn someone who asked for guidance about my experience simply because I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I and others have. And I would want someone to give me the same heads ups if I had asked for guidance on a board about a certain company. It was measured, thoughtful, and brief and not an embellishment or downright lie to make a company look bad. I think you took care of that pretty well with your post.

I am not going to get into any debate with you or follow up any response you might make as you seem to have a lot of anger you are carrying around and maybe even an anger management problem but mostly because you seem to deal in absolutes that most reasonable people do not. Because you don't know of a situation does not mean it doesn't exist, because you have not had a similar experience does not make it an embellishment or lie, but mostly your generalizations and judgmentalness are breathtaking. MTs brought offshoring on themselves, download work and then go shopping, do laundry and dishes all day - that's a lot of laundry and a lot of dishes! - most do not take their jobs seriously, no work ethic, go back to the doctor's office and on and on… I just know that my experience has been MTs, editors and management in the transcription field pretty much run the same as most other professions, a lot of them are serious thoughtful professionals, a lot of them aren't, and painting them all with the same broad stroke because you happen to disagree with them or with what someone posts on a board doesn't give a lot of credibility to you or what you are saying.

As I waded through your derisiveness and sarcasm and anger I just felt bad for you and maybe you ought to think about the fact MT might not be for you…and if you are a member of Alltype management, oh wow…

I just used above the same words like you did here
Working for MQ seems intolerable to me from just what I read from their postings here. My work, for the most part, is smooth, nothing like only allowed 3 blanks (I would be in a tizzy then because of our ESLs) and so on. I cannot believe people actually want to stay there. What is the big draw?
    don't stick by their words
There is way too much of that in this industry.
Thank you. I think those are just made up words.
    unfortunately
There is a Google box right under the words
type in what you want to search and then click the circle beside 'mtstars' located right below the Google box, then search. This will bring up archives on your topic, if there are any.
You have to be kidding. Per your own words, DR

is not the best. Any poor MTs coming from MQ have been beaten to death by now - they don't need another company that is not THE BEST. Let's see - what was I being tactful and leaving out? It takes 4-ever and a day to actually start - criminal background checks - yeah, I know, no big deal, but still creepy - physical exams, and plenty of other hoops - probably a month to get started. Computers were garbage and platform was down often, though none in my account received 1 cent of downtime pay. Platform antiquated and also allowed for prime cherry picking. As a newby, I used to watch the good work get sucked right out of my pool from my coworkers. Backstabbing galore, office politics, no supervision whatsoever. Pay was on the low side, but was told it was due to how great hospital accounts were - not really. MTs expected to adhere to a strict schedule - quality of work was poor as we got hospital leftovers from inhouse staff. DR also has had run-ins with the labor board and were found guilty of whatever it was they were caught doing. So, yes, let these comments scare you - check the company board archives - always lots of negative about DR. In fact, this is the first time I have ever read positives, so I honestly suspect its their recruiter trying to snag some newbies. DR was even posted about just last week - go thru pages and search for them. Good luck to you! Definitely not a good replacement for MQ. If you're close to the breakdown point, as I was when I left MQ, DR is likely to push you right over the edge.

Thank you so much for the kind words!
    :-)
I want to thank you all for your kind words SM

and suggestions.  It means a lot to me.  I'm a pretty optimistic person, so I believe something better will come along...but it feels good to share my frustrations with those of you who have been there, done that, and got the T-shirt!

I better go to work!  Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

    Just Me

    Your words are obviously heartfelt,
but it might be time to consider another career if you feel so dehumanized that you consider yourself a machine. Best wishes.
    Perfect words! sm
I guess I needed someone else to validate for me that it might be okay. Although you'd think my hubby and three children would be enough to do it for me:)  I too am having a very hard time with the testing for other large companies; that is why I was surprised and even a little leary that I passed this one, almost too easily.  And yes, the experience on the resume would be big!  My next project for tomorrow tho (while waiting to get info that I probably won't receive for one reason or another) is to test for Amphion...been interested for awhile so what the heck. Thanks again for making me feel okay!
Thanks all for the words of wisdom. Nm

I just have ten words on the subject....
July sucked for the MT. It was so slow everywhere.

Anybody ever hear of or work for this company in E. Brunswick, NJ?  Raymonde Pozzolano is the owner.  Need info ASAP.  Thanks!
    Why Ortho Words?? sm

I most times start with Google and then make sure it is spelled correctly by looking it up in the medical dictionary.  I also use a Word Book that just gives medical words but no definitions.  That helps to narrow things down sometimes too.

I'm wondering why the above poster said to get Ortho Words.  Is that a must for all types of specialties in your opinion?  I don't have one but would get one if it is helpful.   I do Radiology so you would think that would be good for me anyway.  Think I'm going to go to Amazon.com right now and order one.

    Words Unlimited.....
I am looking into a few different places to place resumes and I came across Words Unlimited.  There is no info in this board that I can find out about them.  Does anyone on here work for them or has worked for them.  Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

    Thanks for your kind words
I have 25 years of experience, yet am only in my mid40s (started while in college). I am glad you got lots of offers. It is nice to know that it is possible we are not all thought of as old and crotchety, that is exactly the word I was thinking of LOL. And you are probably right I should not judge all of them just like I thought they judge all of us. Guess I was getting paranoid after speaking to that 1 MTSO.... shame on me! Thanks for your reply :)
MDI-MD? Are you sure of her words? Never is an absolute. sm
And I find it hard to believe their recruiter, who I have dealt with for weeks now as a newbie, would use that specific term.
    Too unbelievable for words
Let me see, to be able to make 25.00 per hour you would have to type about 3100 lines per hour using 8 cpl.  How is that humanly possible?????????????????
