I have five years' experience but have never worked on a platform before. I have worked straight out of my own version of Microsoft Word and am nervous about my productivity with learning a new platform. Can you still use Expanders with platforms? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Not currently there but left due to those platforms
Scribe - slow and tedious and i was stuck on an account where i had to fill in info twice. Hated that. Allscripts was better with speed, but at the time i was unable to verify my line count and i was finding their count did not even come close to what i was suppose to be paid for (body of note) by 65 characters in word... I am talking a BIIIG difference.
Are there any good companies to work for left??? Suggestions?
Looking for a place to call home. I am so tired of all the disorganized, cheap, and discouraging companies out there. I just cannot find a good fit. I work hard.. very hard.. and I would just like a company to be fair back, decent pay, benefits, organized.. etc.. Help...
Are there any companies left who don't send work offshore?

Anyone know what platforms/companies besides Q...
will utilize dial-up as well as the cable/DSLs?
Which companies have fast platforms? sm
A platform that you can zip along on and produce. Any input very appreciated. Not looking for comments on those with slow platforms.
Which companies have Vista-compatible platforms?

any companies with total MS WORD platforms
Are there ANY decent companies to work for who have totally MS WORD based platform for the work... i.e. you can use the autocorrect and/or some other word Expander than shorthand?
I have HAD it with these nasty platforms that are from the dark ages... worse than WP5.1. meditech, chartscript, docuscribe stuff, bayscribe ......
Know of any companies that use C-Phone and MSWord (no internet platforms)?

Foot pedal question for anyone who works for 2 different companies with different platforms?
I work full time for a company where I use a USB port foot pedal (front of computer) and have an offer to do p.r.n. extra work for a company where I would need a 9-pin serial port foot pedal (plugs in back of computer). Have any of you done this before? I'm wondering if I can keep both foot pedals plugged in at the same time since they are different types, and be able switch back and forth between jobs without having to unplug one or the other. Would be nice to just plug it in and tuck the computer under the desk without having to drag it in and out every day. Has anyone tried this before? Thanks!
I left in May, tried out 3 new companies & went w/my 3rd one sm
I spent a lot of time testing and researching about a dozen other companies I thought I might be interested in. It was a lot of time spent, but well worth it in the long run as my current MTSO is the best. I'm making more $$ now than I have in a long, long time with MQ. I'm IC status, didn't have to test, and the pay is a lot higher than what I had w/MQ and I only transcribe for 4-6 doctors.
Don't be afraid to see what's out there. MQ has a pretty good transcription system w/DQS, but I was able to find a MTSO who just uses Word and FTP and that is just as easy and effortless as DQS. I'm also appreciated and thanked on a daily basis and I can honestly say I enjoy working again and I'm making decent paychecks once again, w/o all the stress I had when I was w/MQ wondering if I'd have work and what type of work and how many accounts I'd have to work through just to make 1200 lines a day.
Who knows, MQ just might be your fit. For me it came down to if I was able to make a decent lph in 6-8 hours of work during the hours I wanted to work and I wasn't able to w/MQ and all of their new changes.
u do realize there are more than 2 platforms they work off of
I am a newbie there. Clarity runs out of work but the 3.8 and something else doesnt. They wont train me on the 3.8 because it is more easy to make money. I think they are transitioning all to Clarity. If they do they are screwed unless they get the exterminator in, there are more bugs in this system then I have ever seen
I work on the Scribe platform but there are many other platforms..
just depends on what account you get hired in for. On this particular account, you can look up old reports. We do have part-time employees but I believe they are slowly going away from part-time into full-time.
Are there any companies left that let MTs type and not edit? sm
Please, there has to be companies out there who want straight transcriptionists and not going through SR first. If anyone knows a company that is loyal to their transcriptionists, possibly have benefits, and are honest that is looking for a well-educated, hard working transcriptionists, please tell me where. I have been in this business many, many years...but every company I contact, they are going to speech recognition. And the pay is much less. HELP!
Any companies left with straight typing...no VR?
Any recommendations for a good company who does not use VR?
Question: Are there any companies left out there that send give X-mas
presents? I sent my MTSO a christmas card last year and got a big fat nothing in return. Is it too much to expect a little something for the holidays, even if it's just a card?
I actually left about a year ago and work for another company that's running out of work. Have to

Much good work going to India. Bad work left
xx
I don't work for TT but when I left my former job I
was hired over the phone with the new company on my first phone interview with them. Companies do not always test if you have the experience and they can tell that you know your stuff when they talk to you.
I left for no work. There is work on some accounts, but NO
work on other accounts.
I left MQ and went to work for them. I am level 8 SM
and on an account with lots of ESLs and started out doing DS which for me, not very productive. I put in my 2 weeks notice, and told my team leader why.
I left last year because the work kept
running out. Sorry to hear that the situation hasn't improved--looks like I did the right thing. Oh well...
What work will be left? N-D getting new accounts?
x
Yes, I can't afford to have no work so I left TT
I dislike the turn of events as they were my favorite company. I have nothing bad to say about TT. I simply got another job.
Sure, but what kind of work is left . sm
for straight typing? VR rejects? 99% ESL and 100% crap? At this point in time, there doesn't seem to be any reason for the VR MTs to envy the straight typers.
She left OSi to work for MedWare as an editor. (nm)

If even that much work left, and hopefully they will be able to afford aspirin. (nm)

I left due to no work for 2 months and they were STILL hiring
when that was going on. I would stay clear for a while unless you can survive off of 200 lines per day and want to work 24/7 and fight over the lines as they come in.
I left there as they were always running out of work from overhiring.
I noticed that when I left DSG to work for another company...
my lines increased dramatically...don't know if it is because of the ESLs on the account or what, but lines were so hard to get.
Left 3 months ago for lack of work
and haven't looked back. It is just the nature of the beast than when a network of accounts change to VR and MTs are doing more lpd now, there will be less work to spread around. There were already problems with not having enough work, so I did not wait for the transition to VR I had already moved down over the previous year from full time to part time because of lack of work. Glad I made the move because I am also the sole breadwinner for my household and can't afford to go without work.
I just left a company due to lack of work, Monica.
Yea, you left out the fact that nobody is forcing you to work where you do...find a better job if
x
I worked there for over a year...left because of lack of work...
one months lots of work, the next three months no work, so on and so forth...when there is a little extra work they do a big hire and once again the faithful MTs who stick by them have no work...I have been gone for over a year and it is still the same way...
Ditto. Please don't buy a computer for work from this company. I left (sm)
this company because of lack of work.
I also vote for Webmedx - used to work for the Q, left long ago sm
Have not worked for Transcend or SoftScript so can't judge. I agree with the above poster; pay good, shift diff, PTO, decent bennies. Lots of work. Keep in mind there are two parts of Webmedx - the one on Enterprise platform and ChartMatrix; the ChartMatrix side seems to have more negative reviews.
Tired: Has worked picked up at FN. Used to work there and left for WX. sm
Would kind of like to go back. Loved the gang; I used to be a YOGer. Had to leave about 1-1/2 years ago because of no work. Still mostly IC? Thanks.
Personally, I prefer to be left alone to work. I hear from my lead when I need her and sm
one or two other times a month, never excessive like a certain company that is rah-rah'd on here. No problem with communication in the two years I have been with them!
Gheesh! Some people have something to complain about no matter what, surprised if even a Keystroke's employee. It is easy to form an opinion when only a handful of employees post here.
I worked in acute care and left due to lack of work.
My primary was just overflow, though they didn't tell us that. I had followed the account from another company and there should have been 3 times the work. Every week I was asking for a new account because they kept giving me accounts that were evidently overlow or otherwise very low volume accounts and I still wasn't getting 20 hour/week.
And we're glad you left too. Plenty of work for the rest of us. nm

Has anyone ever left Keystrokes and gone back? I left a few months ago and realize that I made a

I have heard other people comment on lack of work and have left for that reason. How much of an
issue can this be. Also, is the sound on these accounts poor. That is the other problems I have heard people comment on. I was really looking for uptodate comments. How bad are these issues at present. I dont want to leave one company with no work problems and go to another one with the same problem. I cant be available 24/7 to get work with having a family.

It is as simple as filling out a form. I did it when I left an MTSO and when I left sm
a non-MT position at a company years ago.
What company? I did not know that any of them offer 401K anymore.
Has anyone recently left Futurenet Tech due to their lack of work over the past several weeks? nm

Can you say where you work if you get assigned docs/accts.? I'm tired of this pool garbage/left
s
I do not work for them, but I have done recruiting for companies of their type of work
It is A LOT different than regular medical transcription. The pay is a little less (unless you are proficient and fast), but the work is harder in that there are multiple people speaking and the nature of the medical advisory boards are quite detailed. I receive quite a few resumes of medical transcriptionists wanting to do this type of work, but when you test them, it is a whole different ballgame.
Good luck and let me know how you do on the test!
No, Paul, you are not. Left last year due to lack of work, but not lack of respect. It's a shame
I liked 'em a lot.
There are still companies that need your work by a certain
done by then, whatever your schedule is in completing it...just as long as it is in by the deadline. I recently IC'd for a company who would send me work first thing in the morning and I had to have it back by noon the next day. That worked for me and met their contract requirements.
It does work for some companies. OTI is one. Please
don't speak for all companies when you so obviously don't know that some companies DO only hold you to a weekly quota. They've found that people still seem to fall into a rather predictable schedule, and they're able to manage accordingly. It's rather comical seeing all these posts saying that just won't work. It can and does. As an MT there, I had unlimited work available and was only on one account. It never worked better at any job I've been an MT at. Every other placed bounced me around from account to account.
Top 10 companies to work for?
The moderate size company I have been working for is closing its doors after the loss of their big account.
I'm getting mom and pop offers and private accounts, but wondering about the safety of going with a big national company.
The only big name I am aware of is MedQuist. I would appreciate simply a list of the big players. In addition, any reviews and suggestions of companies with the most satisfied workforce would be most helpful. I have a great variety of experience, but went to work for a company right out of school and I am not very aware of other medical transcription companies.
