to go out and recruit SELF-SUFFICIENT MTs who will take the insurance instead of their current tactic, which is courting the MTs who have husbands who provide the benefits for the family.

  Our profession is slowly slipping away into the hands of countries overseas, all for purpose of allowing the MTSOs to increase their profit margins, a profit margin which they do not share with those who ARE the backbone of the company - the MTs.  We truly need to compile a list of those companies who do and do not offshore and urge our fellow MTs to work ONLY for those companies who keep the work here at home and boycott those who do not.  I am proud to say that I am one of those MTs who works for a company who does not offshore.  It may take time, but after a while those who offshore will no longer have the quality of a US MT and they will be affected where it hurts, in their wallet.  It's time that we, as American MTs, take a stand against big business who choose to offshore!

the idea of a union for us a reality.  Greedy and unethical service owners/senior management have really turned this profession to the dogs over the last 20+ years or so, and if we don't finally say enough and start speaking up for ourselves it's only going to get worse.  (I also have to make an aside and say to the MTSO's out there who actually UNDERSTAND this profession, have EXPERIENCE in it, and are SENSITIVE to the needs and challenges that MT's face, thank you so much for your integrity.  We appreciate you.)

Has anything changed in 9 months? Particular worries are the invoice/pay time; one post mentioned 2 to 3 week wait and another post stated 1 week. Info from the company states pay is sent out 10 days after the last day of the billing period, but we all know what is said and what is done isn't always the same. Another concern is the platform; some mentioned it was slow and cumbersome. They have 2 platforms from what I can gather.. Are they both slow? It seemed like certain specialties were done on certain platforms, or at least that is what I got out of the archives. I really hate to jump from the frying pan to the fire so any info would be VERY much appreciated.. the good, bad, and the ugly! TIA!!

Along with the platform, ESL %, pay range, lpd required, split shift or 12-24 hour window available, I would be interested in knowing your personal experience with this company, what type of relationship you have with supervisors and other coworkers, etc.  Otherwise, the all the 411.

love working there and why? Do you easily meet your incentive pay or as past people have said, the ESL are so bad that you never meet the line count. I need current and new information. Isnt there a company out there that has a handful of happy employees or does all of them have both the haters and lovers. It is so hard to sort out fact from fiction sometimes and all of us have different expectations. It kind of goes along with the one man's junk is another man's treasures theory, I suppose.

I asked the same question a couple days ago and got some VERY VERY negative responses.  I actually told the recruiter that they had a negative reputation on these boards and she seemed flabergasted.  I needed an employee position and they hire only IC.  Pay is 9 cents/65 char line with spaces.  They have 2 hospital accounts they are hiring for; one they will send you a computer and you will use their requipment.  The other requires purchase of a C-phone.  They are standard 4 hospital.  You must commit to a minimum line count (1000 lines per day).  No benefits.  Direct deposit twice a month. 

I was not impressed and was glad when i discovered they were only looking for IC.

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as a "slow time" when typing IMEs?

All aspects of transcription are here to stay, there will always be in-house, home-based and off-shore MTs for every speciality, pathology and radiology included.  There are just to many more doctors and patients than there are qualified MTs. 

I personally attended a community college with a 9 month MT program that included an unpaid internship in a hospital acute care and radiology department to graduate.  I would recommend finding an accredited community college who offers a remote MT course with payment plan rather than going through any of the online schools that are not accredited as a real school.  If you go the www.AHIMA.org, there is a link where you can find MT, RHIT and RHIA programs all over the country from actual colleges and find out if they offer distance education for that program as well.  Most are now about $2400 and do allow payment plans and financial aid.
