United Transcription
Recruiter, Melissa, had me do a questionaire first. after she was satisfied with this, she wanted to send me a pre-employment screening test. However, it looked like she was only going to send it to me if I had planning on taking it RIGHT THEN AND THERE just because it was timed and needed to be back in 24 hours (we are about 6 hours apart, and I do have another job). She did this twice. I waited for days. Why couldn't she just send the test as an attachment to download like NORMAL companies would?????
I finally emailed the company and told them how unprofessional they were, particularly Melissa, and that they actually did me a favor.
United Transcription
Can anyone tell me anything about United Transcription? I've done a search and cannot come up with much. TIA!
I think there is a United Transcription in NC, not SC. (sm)
... and there is another company out of India. The one in NC is not a scam, though they are a young company. When I talked to them, it sounded like they used fabulous software. The bad thing is that they still don't seem to have a website, which I think they should so people could more easily distinguish them from the Indian company.
Does anyone know anything about United Transcription?
The ad looks like it's a good company to work for, but looks can be deceiving. Anyone have personal experience with them currently or in the past? TIA
United Transcription
Does anyone currently work for this company or has worked for this company in the past? If so, give me the good, the bad, the ugly and otherwise!
Thx
United Transcription
Will you email me with the details.

United Transcription/RI Unlimited.
Keep away from United Transcription. They literally change your reports at QA and blame you for it. Also, RI Unlimited. They give you 3 tests, avoid all phone calls and then tell you they don't need any help. Also this minutes thing. We should turn them all in for not paying taxes. Bring back the Independent in IC. No sure I am staying in this field much longer. They want it all and don't even allow for error. Minimum wage is going up. You are better off working in WalMart.
United Transcription in North Carolina
Anyone familiar with this company? If so, would you recommend them? Thank you.
United Transcription out of North Carolina
Hi Fellow MTs: Would anyone have any information on this company, United Transcription out of Charlotte, North Carolina? Any information would be helpful. Also does anyone know if they pay for spaces or benefits? Thanks
Anyone with any experience with United Transcription? If you check out their website, SM
they're just the greatest MT company that there ever was. Anybody with any real experience with them?
Any idea what software these companies are using? sm
Thanks for the interesting info. Any idea what specific software program each of these companies is using? That would also be very interesting for comparison. Not all lines are counted the same for different programs, I have found out.
Can you guys say what companies use this software? Thx. nm

Which companies have the ABSOLUTE WORST software?
Don't want to waste my time applying as I just came from a company with bad, bad software.
That is the VERY BEST software made for MT speed -- which companies don't want MT's to get any
wanting everything to go to VR (pay us 1/2 or less per line).
DQS is the best platform I have ever worked on, including the editing program on DQS. EXCELLENT! THUMBS UP !!!!
Companies using simple online software?
Hi all,
I tried to put up first post here and am not seeing it, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself. Anyway, I haven't looked for a job in years but am looking for something to supplement. I work from home for a hospital who uses Wmx's software. I'm wondering which companies use a similar platform, where I just log onto their website and the work is there, no file transferring, unzipping, etc? Is Editscript the same kind of thing, except for VR editing? (I also use Powerscribe). Thank you.
They may have more than 1 platform. I was using MPWord with them about 3 mos. ago. nm

Big deal! Lots of companies require certain things whether it be software, sm
footpedals, a certain version of Word, etc. I have an Infinity footpedal and I have used Expresscribe with it previously; however, StartStop is totally worth the money as it works with it as well.
If it's the one in the Carolinas, they offer 7.5 cpl and use MPWord, or did in January. Nice

Out of No.Carolina? Last year they were using MPWord, which was outdated and archaic. And

looking for transcription co that needs at-home part-timers and provides equip/software
Does anyone know of a transcription company that needs part-time at-home transcriptionists and provides equipment and/or software? Thanks!
Leslie
Very nice people, but only 7.5 cpl for experience. They use MPWord. It's kind of clunky & not aut

how many PRN transcription companies are there?
More transcription companies
I just posted a message about TTS, and I have several more companies that I would like ANY information on. So, instead of writing several posts, I'm going to list them here and if you have any info about any of them, please share. I am currently working full time as an employee for a hospital, and I'm interested in becoming an IC for the flexibility. The companies are:
USA Medical Transcription
Iridium Services, Inc.
MedQuist
Sten-Tel out of Mass
SmartDoc
Medical Records Corp of Maryland
World Wide Dictation
Grace Transcription
CTS: Complete Transcription Services
OSI
Thanks in advance for any information!
More transcription companies
Yes, I did searches on all of these and didn't find anything except Medquist. I admit I didn't mean to add that to my list.
Are there any transcription companies who
refuse to use ASR? It seems to be the wave of the future.
United TR
Would love to hear from anyone who works for this company. Pay? Benefits? Work load? Do they provide equipment? Any info is greatly appreciated.
United
I tested with them and they had one very unreasonable transcription test (one particular note) that totally turned me off. Horrible sound quality on top of a heavy ESL accent. I was afraid that was a hint on what was to come with that company so I never finished the test.
What is wrong with these transcription companies
I cannot believe the lack of communication with the company I worked for for 13 years and the new one that I just quit, after not even completing training. They show you something for less than an hour and then you are on your own, stuck in your own mess. Then you go to quit and never hear from the manager who was supposed to call you between 24-48 hours after starting. I had sent an e-mail asking if the person could call me and no reponse. I decide to call and leave a voice mail and no response. I think I am just going to give up transcription. I had done this for many, many years and really am thoroughly disgusted.
urr!! frustrated with transcription companies!!!!!!
... I am not a person who believes everything posted.. I believe the truth usually lies somewhere between two extremes, so when I would read about all the complaints transcriptionsist would make about companies, I factored in that perhaps there was more to their story not told, i.e., less than optional work produced, whining, not meeting scheduled times, etc. Now here I am experiencing what most are saying about companies and I hate what I am experiencing! I am in school now, and can handle about 6 hours of work a day. I looked high and wide before I accepted a subcontractor position with a small company. The work is good, but darn if after three months, they didn't start dicking around with my expected work flow. It seems the pattern I am experiencing is that as soon as I get going pretty good with one of their accounts, the carrot gets taken away. They cut back on my work, and put me back on crappy account that pays poop. I am a highly experienced transcripitonist, do professional work, love challenging work and can do well at it, do whatever I am asked, I am not a complainer, I don't whine (except now), and have even received feedback from the company on how good my work is, but here I am after a few months making a paltry $200 a week!! I guess I either have to go to school full time to rapidly complete my schooling, or get a job in another field without all the politics!! Just venting, just venting......
Letter to Transcription Companies
To Transcription Companies:
We are Transcriptionists or MLS. We are faces unseen, but hearts that beat. We are NOT a piece of machinery, but if you choose to think of us such, then I suggest you think of your machines as following: In order for you to have your company, you need us. We perform best when well treated. We don't require much care, but the care we do require must be gentle. Like any well-oiled machinery, we need gentle hands and warm touches. It gets lonely, very lonely being a machine by itself. Most of the time, the only contacts we get from you are your emails or IMs to us. The wording of those emails is critical to the functioning of our machines. A quick, thoughtless brash email lends our machinery to slow down and run boggy. (Many a personal relationship has been broken by email and IM communication. It's not a good way to run a business.) Just like any piece of equipment, maintenance is important. That maintenance comes in the form of our pay, and we only ask that it be on time and correct. We produce for you. We need our maintenance. Sure, some of us may require a little more maintenance than others, but you end up benefiting from the results. A little thank you now and then would be nice. And, certainly at the holidays, we don't expect you all to be able to give us a complete overhaul, but certainly a card, a pen, a special little pad of paper, a calendar, or coffee cup would be much appreciated. When feeding us input (or QA as you like to call it), we learn much better and produce more when it is given with tenderness and teaching. Some machines learn best with a variety of teaching methods. (Even speech recognition needs not only the voice, but the typist's words as well.) We Transcriptionist machines may need some visual, as well as verbal teaching; and if we only get one, it may take us longer to learn. It doesn't mean we are stupid; we just each have different methods of learning. We will give you many years of service and perhaps a lifetime guarantee, if only you would follow the manufacturer's instructions. Thank you.
A Transcription Machine
Same way you did...just googled some transcription companies.
Thanks for your input!
Benefits from transcription companies
I'd like to hear opinions on companies who say they offer insurance to their employees. Just today I was offered a position by a company who said they offered benefits and then when asking for details, I find out they don't pay a cent toward the monthly premium, it ALL comes out of my pay. I am sorry folks, but that is not benefits to me. I may as well be an IC and get my own insurance. Probably would be cheaper too. I counter offered to them asking them if I could work IC status and just get a higher line rate........they wouldn't go for it. Another thing is they require you to type 12,000 lines in a pay period to be eligible for the insurance. What in the world for? They are not paying out a red cent toward those benefits so why would it matter how many lines you transcribed if you are paying for the insurance yourself. This is the first time I have ever heard of something like this and I am pretty ticked about it (I know you can tell)....... In my opinion, there would no benefit at all to being an employee other than they would take your taxes out for you!!!
TODAY'S TRANSCRIPTION COMPANIES
NOT SO MUCH! Why do so many excellent MTs stand for the terrible treatment? Experienced MTs deserve so much more.
AMERICAN TRANSCRIPTION COMPANIES
My Dear Angelica,
In my opinion, USA transcription should stay in the United States.
Transcription companies in general
AMEN SISTER! couldn't have said it better
What companies have straight transcription
What companies are offering only straight transcription jobs? A list of these would truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
United Tran
What is the deal with United Tran? Is it a reputable company? Reading an ad from them, I thought it sounded good; but then when I went to their website, I noticed some misspellings. Just made me wonder. What does anyone know about them?
United Tran
Yes...I did research on United Tran through the BBS and what I found is that they are out of Florida. This is a company that has changed their name. I can't remember but it seems that the origional company was out of Colorado then moved to Florida and started under a different name and now it is United Tran. Be careful on this one....look at the BBS report.
United Stinks!
I tried to work for United for a few days. I specified MULTIPLE times I am NOT a morning person. They disrespected me and called ALL DAY, started phoning before 7 a.m. to ensure I don't sleep at all since I went to bed after 6 a.m.!!!! They sent an email telling me to phone them when I feel like speaking to them. Great...I won't break any nails dialing the phone - TWO MORE STAFF PEOPLE CALLED ME TO HARASS FURTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why were they calling? To ask why I was not typing right then!!! Well duh!!! Second shift begins at 3 p.m. my time and all this drama was going on at 1 p.m. my time!!!!!!!!!! HELLO!!!!!!!!! GET AN EDUCATION!!!!!!!! LEARN THE TIME ZONES JERKS!!!!!!!!! So, for the money and the harassment and the sweat shop atmosphere, I recommend any other company. This one is not worth the hassle, the time, or the energy since the staff is disrespectful, hateful, inflexible, inconsiderate, unprofessional and unacceptable. Is the money even worth it? No, for my 15 years' experience, they offered 0.08 a line. Oh..another thing...I told them I would work this weekend - they don't have an auto job feed so it took over 3-4 hours for someone to 'send me work since their system is antiquated. Yes, you have to rely on someone to send you work in order to have anything to type and then they send you 2 jobs, you type, you request more work, and you get more work after having downtime of 2 hours. So...in 8 hours, you are lucky to have typed 5-8 jobs. So, to get up to 15 jobs, count on 12-16 hours a day!!!!
